Been suffering with waking up in the night with terrible upper stomach burning pain that is just below the centre of the chest. It comes and goes every few minutes and prevents me from sleeping makes me feel nauseous and i get a horrible taste in my mouth. Last time I had this badly I had just finished a course of amoxicillin and again this time I have been on amoxicillin for 2 weeks due to dental infections so I'm not sure if it is causing Gerd/indigestion where it's changing the gut bacteria. I find drinking boiled warm water helps a little and paracetamol do nothing.
I can't burp either but instead I seem to get alot of croaking noises in my throat.
I have ongoing stomach issues with suspected colitis too so when this happens it does worry me.
Does anyone else experience this and have any tips to ease the pain at all please.
Thanks in advance and hope you are all well.

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems. Are you on any PPI's or meds for GERD/Acid Reflux? It sounds like the acid is coming up and burning while you are laying down sleeping. I sleep propped up and sometimes when I have a flare-up I sleep in a reclining chair. If I do slip down during the night I wake with a sore throat and pain in the area you describe which often lasts all day. Have you tried Gaviscon Advance just before bed and sleeping with your upper body raised? It could be that your anti-biotics have caused a flare up in symptoms. I tried Kefir for a while and it seemed to help a little. Hope you find some relief soon. Regards.
Thank you for all the great advice. I saw the doctor who put me on Omeprazole which I have started today for two weeks to begin with to see if they help, she also said the very same thing that it does seem very common symptoms for Gerd and acid reflux. I'm to try them for two weeks and stop eating a few hours before bed to see if it helps if not I need to go back 👍I have also added a extra pillow last night to sleep with and it was lovely as I actually slept all night and woke up so happy for that, so again thank you for for the tip 😊
I shall keep an update here as it can help others too and hopefully the Omeprazole settle things which yes I do agree could have easily been caused by the antibiotics changing the acid perhaps in the stomach.
