I have myasthenia gravis and Ra and on Rituximab, I have hammer toes on both feet wondering if anyone has had the hammer toes operated on? And if so how did it go?
My GP says don’t have them Operated on your feet?

I don't know what a hammer toe looks like but my left foot was straightened and toes had a bit removed and the overgrowth removed. Best thing I've ever had done. This was about 4 years ago and I've been wearing normal and heeled shoes ever since it healed. Totally painless and very worthwhile. I hope that helps. x My advice would be speak to an orthopaedic surgeon.
I never had the surgery for my hammer toes. I was born with slight hammer toes on both feet. And they seem to be getting worse in recent years. I'd only get surgery on them if they were making it more difficult to walk or to wear shoes. Considering I have neurological issues that may, in time, hinder my ability to walk, I have no plans to get them fixed.
One of my friends had bunion surgery on both feet at the same time. It helped her for years, but then the bunions came back. So I don't know if something similar would happen with hammer toe surgery. If you decide to do it, maybe do one foot at a time. My friend had an awful time doing both feet at once.
I had an op for hammer toe on my right foot. I have a similar problem on my left foot, but want to avoid surgery if possible. Had a bunion removed from big toe, and next toe straightened. My foot was very painful afterwards, and it took 2 or 3 years to begin to settle. The problem with feet is the large number of bones, nerves and veins. I would try anything other than surgery again!! Good luck
Thank you for letting me know about op I’m not going to even think of doing an op now.
