Hello.

It may feel as if you are alone but I can assure you, you're not.

Just keep plugging away, a bit at a time. 😁

Hi Tess6

I to got a cold/flu thing and decided it was a good time to quit after 40 years of smoking. Read Allan Carrs book a couple of times while sick and went cold turkey. I am now 40 days in..it is challenging though I dont want to be a slave ever again. I want to encourage you. Do anything to keep your quit going.

Hey Tess6 I too stopped cold turkey - that was over 3 years ago and never looked back - can you confirm your stop date for your milestone badges when you get a chance :)

Good for you Tess6 - how is day 4 going for you? Going cold turkey, the nicotine is now out of your system after 3 days and the mental battle is now in full swing as your body and mind begin the gradual process of rewiring, repairing and recovering :)

Good luck Tess. Spend some time reading the pinned posts on this site your first week, it helps. I used an e-cig and it was harsh on the throat. I remember thinking it was worse than tobacco. But do what is best for you. There are many roads to recovery.

Hi Tess6

I went cold turkey over 3 months ago.. I can say it gets so much easier. It did for me. I’ve tried other NRT methods in past but they just prolonged my withdrawal and it was too easy to switch from patch to smoke etc. I wish you all the best. You got this! You can do it.. one day at a time.

Hi 👋. I’m a non smoker. Reminding myself regularly that I don’t want it and dealing with bizarre random cravings one at a time. It’s funny because I don’t even think about smoking when I used to smoke the most... work break, driving, after work with coffee. I’m used to those times without a smoke (whew). I’ll get a random craving after a meal or if I’m restless 😬.

My daughter and I hiked the other day and she said that I have way more stamina and speed... I feel better. However (always a however) I must get a handle on my eating- carbs are my drug of choice and I’m trying to stick to an eating plan... but then a meal with family or treats at work will derail me.

Thanks for checking in! Spring is here 😀

Hey congratulations on quitting smoking. Vaping at first made me cough but you get used to it. Mind you I am no longer vaping. There are other NRT methods you could use like gum and patches. Lots of people go cold turkey though and are successful :).
