Well done! Such a good feeling when you manage a night out drinking without smoking, definitely the biggest challenge for me

It is challenging, it helps that it was about 15 degrees F here. And I told everyone I quit so they didnโ€™t even invite me.

You did grand! I didn't trust myself for weeks. It was my biggest hurdle.

You should trust yourself no matter what! You donโ€™t smoke anymore so there is nothing to worry about.

Wow TimTimT - your first big milestone of 1 week and one of the biggest curve balls overcome, huge well done! Luckily and funnily enough drink and stopping never bothered me, think it was because used to hate going outside smoking when the smoking ban came in here in Ireland in all public places.

But, what was very difficult for me though was sitting outside on a fine summers evening with or without a drink, used to always chain smoke with the boredom and it took me my second summer smoke free to be able to do it.....

We canโ€™t smoke in the bars here, plus I never get to go out anymore since Iโ€™ve got two little ones at home.

Nice work TimTimT, don't want to poop on the huge accomplishment but just be careful of the next one. Only reason I say this is from experience, I thought I got this in the bag and let my guard down and puff puff.

Itโ€™s a fair warning. I figured if I got through this weekend then it will be easier next weekend and the next and the next...

Yes, it will get easier the next time you encounter this trigger TimTimT but as Hidden mentioned the complacency trap can come out of nowhere so need the guard up at all times ready to attack!

3 months now TimTimT - how are you getting on?

Hi Roisin, things are going well! Thanks for checking in. Sometimes there is a craving, but not too bad. Just wish my wife didnโ€™t smoke so much, it feels like I am missing out on something, sometimes. Keep holding down the fort, youโ€™re going great and so is everyone here. And summer has finally showed up in Detroit, but Iโ€™m afraid spring feels very left out of this year.

Good to read TimTimT - that missing feeling is normal and will pass in time, summer has arrived here in Ireland too and enjoying glorious sunshine on our May bank holiday weekend...8-)
