Hi everyone I have good news I haven't smoked for the last 24 hours. I had no cravings overall just a slight feeling of unusuality.

I'm very excited of what's to come and my motto is not one PUFF EVER. NOPE

Can't wait to be weeks and months.

Good luck everyone lets keep on going.

How is day 2 going for you Quitforever ?

It's going good thanks for asking, I haven't had any cravings no side effects but I'm a bit worried about the dose of medication I've started on the 1mg twice a day. I'm feeling a bit down right now , have done so for the last couple hours. However even if I get depressed I'm going to keep going. I'm going to ask smoking cessation councelor if I can take 1 pill a day, I wonder if that will improve my mood. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Have a good night/Day everyone.

And NOPE!

Short term depression or sadness is a common nicotine withdrawal and also a side effect of champix. If there is a history of depression, champix is definitely NOT for you should not be prescribed) Good idea to chat to your cessation counsellor tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on :)

I’m glad it’s all going good , and I just wanted to shared with you , I used to suffer mild anxiety and as soon as I quit smoking all those issues slowly died and that explains the terrible effects of nicotine on nervous system . You are taking Chantix as I did and my most important advise to you if you don’t is to maintain physical activity to the top ! one of the things I never did all my life was exercising but that changed and the effects of Chantix were minimum as time passed ..just walk and walk fast and stretch like a cat some yoga exerdices are great .

Now if you exercise already just keep it up !!!! 👍💪😊

Yesterday was day 3 it was very difficult I had anxiety and my neck area was tense and hurting. I feel better today I'm drinking coffee tea and green tea. I know caffeine increases anxiety but I like to drink hot beverages. I'll try to have less.

Definitely try to cut out the coffee Quitforever - you can still have the hot beverages with tea and green tea. Coffee is a huge anxiety stimulant.....

Hi Quit, sorry you are feeling depressed. I did too when I started champix, but didn't name it depression, didn't realise! I just felt quite inside myself and remote, I watched tv a lot, which is unusual for me. Then I discovered mindfulness. I do feel that I bang on about mindfulness, but it's proven to aid depression and anxiety and is also widely used in recovery work with substance misusers. And that's us!

I use an app called Insight timer. It has guided meditations and more. If you browse the sections for recovery or anxiety, you will find something that helps.

I am on the last week of champix, now, no depression, no anxiety, feeling very positive. I know there is a school of thought that champix should not be prescribed to anyone with a historyof mental health issues, but I think it's more people with psychotic conditions.i did have a history of depression, and the doctor was aware.

When I stopped previously without champix, the depression and anxiety was more severe and more prolonged. But if you feel your depression is worsening do see your doctor.
