I am attempting to quit cold turkey tomorrow. I was told by a friend I should set a date and that is my date to stop. BE HONEST... Is it scary?? I am honestly terrified. Not sure what I'm afraid of with the exception of feeling better (i hope) Wish me luck guys
My date is set for tomorrow 10/11/17 - No Smoking Day
My date is set for tomorrow 10/11/17
Welcome again drfzff - the scared and anxious feeling is normal but please don't be, you will never ever regret giving up smoking but may regret not doing it....
I quit cold turkey 2 years ago after waking up in the middle of the night coughing and gasping for breath, yes, like you I was terrified, but knew in my heart enough was enough and had to stop - it is a rollercoaster of a journey but so achievable as you can see with all our successful members here, with regards the aids to help you, I firmly believe the best aid is to embrace it, be ready to attack - read up as much as you can here and elsewhere on stopping and the withdrawals....below is a link to some helpful pinned posts if not already read, Wishing you strength for tomorrow, when you put out your last cigarette, get rid of all the ashtrays, lighters and get in the right mindset that you will never smoke again...we will be here to help anytime so stay close to us and post often
Well done on setting your date. I quit cold turkey nearly 4 years ago. I remember feeling scared, but there is nothing to be scared of. This is the best decision you have ever made! Be determined to succeed and concentrate on getting to the end of each day without smoking. Good luck x
Huge welcome to our community laines , wow, almost 4 years, that is great, well done!
Perhaps create an introductory post and share your story and your words of wisdom for our new members - I quit cold turkey over 2 years ago and as you say above it is the best decision of my life.
Can you confirm your stop date for your milestone badges - will award your over 3 years smoke free badge now

Oh, couldn't see any posts from you on our community, may have been another one or the old community as No Smoking Day community moved over to HealthUnlocked back in March 2016. Anyways, great to have you back here and look forward to your input when you get a chance.
good luck
