I'm so happy to be smoke free.. don't get me wrong but I'm waiting for the health benefits to arrive!

I'm tired all the time.. lots of spots, coughing a lot and little to no energy! Getting out of bed makes me want to sleep again lol πŸ˜‚

Does this pass and if it does when did you start to feel better?

Hiya Louise,

What you're going through is very common and it DOES pass. I didn't suffer with the spots or the lethargy (any more than usual anyway - I'm always knackered and can sleep for England) but lots of people here have gone through the same.

The coughing is probably your lungs cleaning out the last of the rubbish. I did get that at 1 month and it lasted a few weeks. I found it a bit alarming but it seems to happen with most people. It disappeared after about 3 weeks with me.

1 year on and I still don't feel THAT much different but all cravings have gone and my smokers cough has gone...and my wallet is a lot fatter. It's worth perservering, really glad I did it.

Louise.....You should have felt better by this time...You need to take some additional vitamins and some supplements to get the happy chemicals flowing... Nicotine is a very serious drug and although it is out of your system after 3 days the scars it left takes a lot longer to heal...

If you are able...Exercise will be good...It really makes a difference...!!

Hey Louiseb17 - everyone is different in their quits and the time lines in recovery and your quitting method affects it too, cold turkey will see benefits almost immediately as nicotine is out of your system after 3 days, if using NRT or vaping - will take longer to see these benefits.

For lack of energy - exercise can improve this alot - even just walking, as Hercu suggested some vitamins may help and yes, I PROMISE, it will pass, maybe just help it along with doing these and also patience is required, as advised to you in your last post, the recovery is a gradual process as the body heals, keep up the great work :)

Ah Louiseb17 - I'm Irish too! Live in the midlands :)

I hear ya with the impatience, I was the exact same and think alot experience this too - you have all the best of benefits to look forward to, especially as summer is coming, that first smell of freshly cut grass, the bbq, really breathing the summer air (can be a trigger too, but once you get over it, won't happen again)
