Hi all just wondered if anyone else early on in their journey of no smoking got sick with cold and cough ? I was feeling so good and hubby got me sick. Of course it goes straight to the chest because my lungs i am sure are still coming out of being suffocated for the past 30 yrs 😑 any advise would sure help .

Hello.

Sorry to hear you have a cold. You're right about two things going on at the same time. You are having to deal with the cold and the clean-up process which can make the cold feel worse than ever.

I don't think there is much you can do other than the usual stuff such as cold tablets etc and just wait. This is not helpful, I know. If it is any consolation, non-smokers are supposed to get fewer colds.

Hang in there. 😊

Grandbabies are germ machines, so I've had one bug after another since I've quit. Hang in there, if your not smoking it won't last as long, also mine hasn't turned into bronchitis as it had in the past😃. I'm starting to feel better and can breathe without a nasty wheezy sound. Lots of vitamin c. Best of luck

Hey Jackinosmoke its the time of year for bugs and colds and we tend to blame everything and any aliment we encounter down to quitting but non smokers too get colds and sick too - I was a total hypochondriac when I first quit it was unnatural :D

A spoonful of honey as required is great for a tickly cough, vicks is also good for clearing the nose and chest, raw garlic chewed and swallowed is great antiseptic for a sore throat and quick cure (all passed on to me from my late granny!)

I will have to try some of these . Ive heard of the garlic. That will be rough but yep I heard it cures all as well.

I wonder why the sudden worry about our health after quitting? I feel like i am doing the same thing. 2 weeks today by the way ! 😊 im going to stay hopeful. I do know i do not want to return to being a smoker , ever.

I think it is because when we quit we expect to be feeling great immediately, but it doesn't work that way, it is a gradual recovery process but the body is a remarkable healer.

I only do the milestone badges for 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 50 days, etc to give that motivation to keep going strong :)

Hats off to your efforts and I hope I can skip some of colds etc.

I'm 7 days smoke free and wouldn't you no I'm the idiot that decided to quit at the time of year I always get a chest cold. so far so good nothing other than being crazy and bouncing around like a rubber ball.

Fingers crossed that it works out well for both of us.
