Morning. My advice is just take it an hour at a time. It will be OK. Find things to do to keep occupied. Also watch some of the short videos on WhyQuit.com - they will help massively and deal with every day of the first two weeks.

Have faith in yourself because you can absolutely do this. If things get tricky, post on here lots. Don't feel you are on your own in this because you are not.

Go for it. You can do it!! 🖒☺☺

Well you are not alone in that!! I am on relapse number 3!! Just take it slowly. Don't think about tomorrow or even tonight.

Everybody on here is proof that it can be done and you are no different. Support is vital though so keep posting, as much as you need to.

Have a little faith in yourself, you are stronger than you think. Another good thing to do, is educate yourself especially about the nature of addiction. WhyQuit.com has this vital information so read as much as you can. It really does help.

Hi Magee7, can't really add to the excellent advice from mushen there but must emphasize keeping busy.

Preferably do something new, something you don't associate smoking with (not always easy to do I know).

It's all about getting over trigger points; situations that make "time for a cigarette" pop into your head. There are lots of these in the early stages so plan for them...ask yourself when you are most likely to want to smoke (after a meal or during a work break for instance) and prepare yourself for cravings at that time. Also prepare yourself for the surprise cravings - when you forget that you are stopping. It's hard to explain but you will know what I mean when it happens. They were the worst for me.

Keep posting and somebody will try to help.

Welcome Magee 7. Hope you are soldiering though! Like yourself and others on here I am back after a failed attempt. The advice and support from others here is amazing so keep with us and post when you feel you need to. We are all in the same position and know what you are going through.

As mushen has recommended the Whyquit site has loads of interesting info which is worth a read. Have you downloaded an app for keeping track of days off the ciggies and how much you have saved? I find that an encouragement for me as financially it is almost crippling to be a smoker. Learning about the damage that has been done and what happens when the body is cleaning out also helps me.

Are you using any nicotine replacement or attempting it cold turkey? I always feel once I have reached a certain stage in the day that it is a great achievement to have made it.

Just to welcome you with open arms, a big hello, and a great decision to quit.

Nothing for me to add, to all the advice, just keep going, and I agree, smoking although. Addiction, is also habit, I realised I only ever had a fleeting thought about smoking at work, phew but the second I left , I thought of smoking, in part because I could smoke.

Hold tight bit by bit, it is with in is to quit
