Nicole, don't worry. Setting a date is a good thing. The first few days are the hardest - I used some gum to get me through the first day or so but everyone has their own methods. Once you have done 3 or 4 days the nicotine is largely out of your system then it becomes more of a mental thing. You can definitely do it and the people on here will be a great help. All the very best of luck - keep posting
The thought of giving up is indeed scary but in reality it's more scary to continue to smoke. Read all you can drink loads of water and post on here as often as you need, where all here to support each other.
Hey NicoleWard25 deep breaths! Good woman for coming back on the forum.....
The pinned posts are directly to right hand of this page and you can just google a couple of words in your search of the info you want....
You have 2 days to go to your quit day, this will be a great day for you and needs to be embraced not dreaded. If you don't feel ready and not in the correct mindset on 25 April, just postpone the date for a few days.
The correct mindset and knowledge is really vital in our quits. Let me know if there is anything else you need and I will get the links for you.....
I still can't find them. To be honest I don't even know what information I am so posed to be looking for.
How are you now NicoleWard25 ?
Ok I have an headache as I am trying to cut down and not had a fag since before 12:30
Did you get a chance to read below pinned posts or go into those sites, headaches are one the nicotine withdrawal symptoms and is normal to experience.
It is good that you preparing for 25th and cutting down.
Wishing you strength.....
How are you today NicoleWard25
I am feeling confident I just got my self some anti stress adult therapy colouring books. Posted on fb a message to inform family and friends. I just need to make my list of why I am quitting smoking and I think I am set to quit tomorrow. How are you?
Ah thats great Nicole, there is also a quitometer that you can sign up to on FB, which gives you how many days, hours etc...you are quit, how much you have saved, how many cigs not smoked etc.... which is a good motivator.
I am good thanks, into 7 months smoke free through cold turkey. At a great place in my quit now, was a roller coaster of a journey but worth it.
What I done for the first month or so of my quit was like you have done, wrote down a short summary of why I am quitting and stuck it around places at home (bedroom dressing table, laptop desk) at work above my keyboard (don't worry about people seeing it as they will very likely admire you!).
I done up 'to do' list of stuff to do around the house I had put on the long finger for months - painting, decluttering, gardening, washing, cleaning etc....
Be kind to yourself, for every milestone (1 day, 1 week, 1 month) treat yourself. Pamper yourself regularly.
Be around only positive people
Drinks loads of water (invest in a water juicer bottle, can be got in any supermarket)
Avoid caffeine and sugary foods for the first couple of months as contribute to cravings
Lots of deep breaths, little bit of exercise daily
Continue to educate yourself and post as often as you need to.
Wishing you success and strength for tomorrow NicoleWard25 , look forward to reading your updates and progress, you can do this!
Morning NicoleWard25 , big day today, looking forward to reading your Day 1 post soon....
