I’ll kick off with my weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 12 stones 13.4 pounds, and today I weigh: 13 stone 0.4 pound, so I've gained 1 pound this week. Oh no, those 12's are elusive yet again!!! However, I have compared my body measurements, which I last did 3 months ago. I've lost half an inch from my waist, and half an inch from my hips, so I'm very happy about that. At that time my weight was 13 stone 0.6 pound, so it means that I've basically toned up over the past 3 months, rather than lost much weight.
Regarding my goals, I have done more walking this week, thanks to the last week of the Around the World in 80 Days Challenge, and really enjoyed participating in that – really motivating. I’ll be looking out for FizzyLiz and Moreless's next Challenge, which I think is going to be revealed on Tuesday! Exciting! I’ve joined in Sueper’s Easter Bunny Challenge (would like to be 12 stone 12 pounds by Easter Sunday) and also MarmiteRehoming’s 4th July Challenge (would like to be 12 stone 7 pounds by then), and am also doing Ruth_Canal_Runner’s March Strength Challenge (please see the Pinned Posts area for details of those challenges, if you've not heard of them).
Unfortunately I only managed to do 1 gym session this week – and I had intended to do 3…
So, this week my goal is to lose 1 pound, and to go to the gym 3 times, as well as try some new recipes, and continue regular walking. I also want to think of a plan of action to help me to cope with Easter – as it is fast approaching, and I don’t want it to scupper my progress.
Ruth_Canal_Runner (Fab 5’er) is extremely busy for the next couple of weeks, as she has just got herself a lovely new job with a permanent contract (Congratulations Ruth!) so I did our weekly stats this week and shall also do next week’s too. It was a pleasure therefore to be the first person to realise what a great achievement the group stats are:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 121.
Total overall weight lost: 89.48 pounds (40.59 kilos).

Total people who gained weight: 20 (24.85 pounds gained) (11.27 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 14.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 13.

Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
11.50am The Afternoon/Evening Session has just been posted, and the link to it is here:
Last Monday I weighed in at 14 stone 9lbs, this Monday I weigh 14 stone 7lbs so 2lbs down, woohoo and I also have not smoked so I am feeling really chuffed
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is excellent!!! Also, it's great that you've not smoked - you are doing brilliantly with your goals, and I hope you enjoyed the week, and that you have another great week ahead.
Those 12s and 10s are playing to to hold onto aren't they?! Your plan sounds great good luck this week and with the challenges.
This morning I am 11 00.2 so a loss of almost half a pound, 0.4lb lost from last week. Was hoping to be back in 10s having been thrown out last Monday....but maybe this week!!
I will go with your goal of a 1lb this week and to be 10 12 by Easter.
This weeks I am:
Cutting out starchy carbs
Extending my fasting window
Eating berries as my fruit
Getting 8 hours sleep
I have late nights at work again so exercise tricky but hoping if I get 8 hours regularly I will be in a good place to exercise first thing in morning during and after Easter.
Good luck with the week ahead everyone. I look forward to reading your updates when I get back tonight.
Yes, we're both experiencing the elusiveness of a goal transition point, aren't we...! Congratulations to you for achieving a weight loss of 0.4 pound this week though, you're right on the cusp of the 10's now.
You've set some great goals, and also a good list to achieve, and I hope you manage to get your exercise in despite those late nights at work. Like you say, ensuring you get adequate sleep should hopefully mean you stand a good chance to exercise first thing. Good luck!
Wishing you a great day and I'm sure there'll be lots to read when you get back later, to catch up with the thread.
I'm new to this so first weigh in today is 15 stone 6 pounds.....yikes.
Got loads to lose but my first goal is the magic number of 10%
Still feels daunting but I need to do this for my health. Starting to really struggle with every day stuff like walking up a small hill so I'll try my best.
I will have a look at the challenges you mentioned and maybe join one or two.
At the moment I'm trying to get 10000 steps in every day, got a Fitbit in preparation.
Welcome to this Monday group weigh-in, and I'm so glad you have decided to join us. You've made the big step of sharing your weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. Hopefully you'll be lighter from now on. I know it feels daunting, but you have a great goal to do this for your health and well-being, and you're going to give it your best, which sounds like a really positive attitude.
Have a read through of our Welcome Newbie pack (which Moreless has put together - she's a lovely Fab 5'er) and here's a link to that thread:
Hi Gonaslim! I started off last week with 15st 10lbs and today's weigh in had already pushed me onto the treadmill for next week with an exciting loss of just over 6lbs. I wish you all the best of luck in this journey and can only say that the only thing you've got to lose here is your weight. ☺😉. Best of luck!.
Thank you Gonnaslim for your compliments but I think that the 1st week is always like this because the body loses a lot of water as well. So, I am just trying to keep a realistic mind about next week and just expecting 1 to 2lbs lost. Well done to you and a tip for you which is really working for me would be that, every time you crave for food or snacks, just come to this forum and read people's comments and/or posts. This really has stopped me from snacking on junk un necessarily. Hope this helps and best of luck to you. ☺
I'm sorry that those 12's keep slipping out of your grasp Lowcal, they certainly are elusive little devils! What great news about your loss of inches though and to be perfectly honest, being smaller is what it's all about and you're definitely that! WTG you, our incredible, shrinking, wonder woman!
The scales have done a lot of bouncing around for me this week, but I'm delighted to announce a 0.75lb loss, which puts me firmly at 4.5st total loss My goals for this week are to start FizzyLiz's next challenge, keep up with Ruth's strength challenge (I don't do cheat squats now!) and work hard to get into the 14's for Sueper's Easter Bunny challenge
Thanks for your kind comments regarding the elusive 12's. I appreciate your encouragment very much.
Wow, you have done really well to achieve yet another loss on the scales, despite those scales doing a bit of bouncing around this week - as 0.75 pound loss is fantastic! Really well done! You've achieved a total loss of 4.5 stone, which was your next goal - wow, wow, and triple Wow!!!!
Great that you're set for the 3 Challenges you've selected, and I'm very excited about FizzyLiz's next Challenge, so I'll be looking out on Tuesday for the post.
Here's to a great Monday group weigh-in day, and wishing you success with your goals for this week ahead.
This morning I can report a weight loss of 5lbs! Last Monday I weighed 16-7 and this morning 16-2, had to check a few times to make sure the scales were working properly! I had a couple of weeks where my weight loss was only 1lb so maybe my body is adjusting to things?
Last week I did have a bit of a wobble when I felt tired and having cravings so I decided to increase the amount of protein that I ate and reduced the carbs, whilst still keeping to my daily calorie allowance and I also increased the amount of water i was drinking to at least 2 litres a day and cut down on caffeine too.
Exercise continued with heavy gardening, digging and moving paving slabs and garden waste.
So I am pleased with this loss and hopefully it will continue this coming week, maybe get into the 15s by next Monday?
Wow, what an incredible amount of weight you've lost this week - 5 pounds!!! I can imagine you did double check that a few times, as it must have been a bit of a surprise!
You've been doing lots of exercise with all that heavy gardening too.
I know you're hoping to continue with that weight loss, but I think it's quite unusual to lose that much in one week, so I would anticipate that your weight might balance itself out - maybe even with a slight gain, but if that does happen, don't be disappointed, as essentially you could then take the average weight lost over a couple of weeks, and it would still be in the right direction. But of course you may get another loss on the scales next week, it's difficult to predict these things.
Thank you for your reply lowcal. Yes, I take it over the longer term and looking at when I started, 11th January, I was 17-12 so a total loss of 24lbs in 9 weeks = 2.6 lbs a week which I know will slow down as the weight comes off. I read on here a lot where peoples weight sticks then suddenly get a bigger loss so as long as i keep doing what i am doing eventually the weight will come off. I just realised too that another pound loss will mean I have lost 10% of my body weight
Thanks Lowcal, Yes, I hope so It also helped last week that our cooker was away for repair all week so lots of tins of fish were consumed! Cooker back today so I am looking forward to getting some variety into the meals John
Thank you Anna, not so sure about being a happy gardener, I would much rather sit with a glass of wine and watch someone else do it! Just too much heavy work at the moment. The garden was very overgrown and full of saplings which I am slowly trying to saw down and dig up It is keeping me fit though and this sunny weather is nice too. John
I know what you mean John! We moved house two years ago and the garden was very overgrown 😕 We removed 14 trees and shrubs (still leaving plenty ) and put down gravel rather than lawn, and now have a very pretty by fairly low maintenance garden 😊😊🌿🌷🐝
Great result - gardening is such a good and satisfying kind of exercise and you end up with something creative to show for your efforts. I love it. Have a good week John!
Morning all jumping on early as it is my auntie's funeral today and we have an early start.
Lowcal I'm sure that 1lb will be gone by next week, we have a new challenge beginning tomorrow so that should help!
Congratulations Ruth on your shiny new job - a permanent contract is fab!!
I pushed myself over the last week to finish the 80 days on a high - after having a bad chest for many weeks of it. I did 15 hours of walking/steps/jogging and am pleased to say have lost 5lb - am now 17st9lbs - I know that is unsustainable weight loss in the long term and I think the main reason it came off quickly is because it was a fast gain too..
This week I'm going to aim for a similar amount of exercise and see what happens.. Am joining the next challenge and later in the month I will begin the 5x50 charity challenge
Thank you for joining us today, and I hope that your Auntie's funeral goes ok.
Thanks you for your kind words and I agree with you that the new challenge starting tomorrow should help us all.
I am so happy to hear you've lost 5 pounds after all your hard work stepping up for the finale of the Around the World in 80 Days Challenge. I know you realise it came off quickly due to being a fast gain, so you are aware that it might bounce around a bit over the next couple of weeks, but it is great that you've achieved that. Really well done.
I hope your chest problems will be in the past now, as you had been poorly for a while.
Great that you're going to start some new challenges, and I hope you have a great week, and that today goes ok.
Hi everyone. Last Monday when I joined this forum, my weight was 15st 10lbs. Today as I weighed myself few mins earlier, my weight is 15st 3.4lbs. Which means I have lost just over 6lbs! 🙅🙆🙅🙆💪💪.. sorry guys a little too excited but this is the first break through since several weeks for me. Wish all of you best of luck and look forward to seeing results l8r.
Well done for the inches lost and the toning up. Lowcal.
Not too happy with the scales today! Up 0.7 kg when I was hoping to lose a little prior to revealing my beach body!.
I am however still within my maintenance range. I have less than two weeks till I go away so time to be really focused and get nearer the bottom of my maintenance range.
That's a teeny, tiny gain 2b and I'm sure that the next 2 weeks will see a reversal to that. Keep that yellow polka dot bikini in mind and you'll be at the lower end of your maintenance scale in no time!
Hello, I'm new here. Just weighed myself and am starting off at 13 stone 10 lbs. My ultimate aim is to get down to 9 stone (I'm only 5ft tall so maybe a little lower would be even better) before summer 2017 when I will be (hopefully) graduating from my PhD. The last time I was 9 stone was almost 30 years ago! I'm planning on a steady approach, and would be happy with a pound off each week, though I know from past experience that my weight often comes off in fits and starts.
I hope everyone has a good week and I'm really enjoying reading all the posts on here.
You are a similar weight/height to where I was 7 months ago 😊 You will soon see and feel the benefits! I wish I had done this years ago! (My graduation photos are dreadful!)
So far so good 😊 Better actually, don't quite know why but really not struggled to lose this time. Think it's having enough to eat and not rushing, making the mind change away from 'diet' and onto 'healthy forever' 😊 Also largely pain free now which really helps 😊
Same here sort of, I say 5ft but I shrank from 5ft 1" so have a feeling I am under the 5 now I also started significantly heavier than you 4 weeks ago but I am now getting close to your starting weight, so you better run
Haha! Congratulations on your losses so far. Funnily enough, when I was at school I was 5ft 2 - and I have a feeling that I'm a shade under 5ft too, based on measurements from a fancy pants scale I went on a few years ago. Now if I can get my waist to shrink, I'll be a happy bunny!
Great to hear you've lost 0.6 kgs this week - well done! Brilliant that you also used your cross trainer for 60-90 minutes every day - that's dedicated and I hope you enjoyed that. It's great to hear you're going hiking in the Lake District, and I hope you have some great weather - lots of really great exercise and scenery to look forward to. Really great! You can join the weigh-in by adding your weight when you get back on Tuesday if you'd like to, as I will be doing the stats next week and I won't be doing them till later in the week, so you'd still be in time to be counted in our stats. Up to you - do whatever you want, I'm just giving you that option.
I know you found the weekend more challenging, and I think that's a very common theme for many of us - as the routine on a weekend can be so different, so in many ways that can be a time to think of a plan of action to minimise the potential damage of a 'weekend' - so maybe that's something to think about, so you can have a better outcome another week. But you have done really well - and 0.6 kgs is a great weight loss, so please do celebrate it as such!
Enjoy your holiday and catch up with you when you get back.
I will try and find the weigh in thread and add my weight Tuesday night or Wednesday morning - it is a 6 hour drive so not sure when I will actually get back
I wouldn't call the cross trainer fun, over the past months I always walked 12-16 miles every day, but I find that after about 2 miles my hips hurt and by mile 5 I'm in complete agony. The cross trainer seems to be the pain-free alternative.
In terms of overeating I agree the routine thing is part of it, however I'm a snacker. It can happen any day to me and once I start, I just can't stop. I'm like a tube of Pringles
It's always really easy to find the latest Monday group weigh-in thread - you just need to look in the 'Event' section (right-hand-side) of the homepage, and it will be there - so you can easily find it when you get back.
You've made me laugh to compare yourself with a tube of Pringles... maybe you might need to consider the availability of snack foods - so you aren't put under undue tempations! Good luck! Most importantly, enjoy your holiday!
Oh no lowcal! The constant battle with the 12s! I have also measured myself this morning and have lost a half inch from my waist and thigh over the last 3 weeks which is nice..
Today I weigh 11st 7.6lb which is 1lb loss this week. Happy about this as I wasn't exactly on plan to be honest. My goals at to lose 0.6lb this week to conquer the second stone and 1.6lb to reach the healthy BMI range of the chart and work from there
Brilliant to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, that is really great! Also, you've lost half an inch from your waist and thigh over 3 weeks - that is great. It's definitely worth doing those body measurements, and I think it's great that you're making such excellent progress. Really well done!
You're so close now to conquering that second stone, and you're nearly at the healthy BMI range - you'll hopefully be there soon!
Great to lose 1lb Steve especially as you are close to your healthy weight range, a target of around half a pound a week is realistic, keep it up, have a great week. John
Morning everyone, my goal was to lose 2lbs this week but the scales hovered and hovered, and settled at 13st 11lb, last week I weighed in at 13st 12lbs so 1lb off.
I know where this has come from as Friday and Saturday were pretty much party days for daughter's birthday followed by the rugby, which is something of a religion to my OH and kids. I recorded everything on Myfitnesspal, and clocked up an extra 1300 calories for both of those days, thank goodness I'd averaged 1200 calories a day from Monday to Thursday.
No celebrations planned for this week, so no reason not to stick to my calories, and this lingering cough seems to be easing post-flu. Bring on a new week, its light and sunshine forecast for today, feels spring like and positive.
My goal for the coming week is to lose 2lbs, and if possible the lb that didn't leave my body this week.
Last week I was 11 stone 12 and this week I am 11 stone 11. I am really pleased with that as haven't felt hungry at all. Using my fitness pal app to count calories and it encourages me to do more exercise when I know I can use the extra calories burnt to treat myself (although I haven't needed to most days as feel satisfied on the amount of cals given). Good luck everyone!!
It's fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, and that you've not felt hungry at all. Really great result, Congratulations! It's great that you've found Myfitnesspal to be a helpful app, and that it's also been encouraging you to do more exercise too.
Storm4mozzer asked us to copy and paste her weigh-in here today, so here it is:
Storm4Mozzer said:
This week i have gained 1lb so back to 11 stone 11lb though i did eat loads of chocolate, mcflurries, chips.. i understand why i gained the weight and for for the first time in many years i feel happy with the weight gain and feel that i am at peace with this, roll on this week back on the losing train.
She also added that she would like to lose 2 pounds this week.
So Storm4Mozzer, I'd like to wish you success with your goal this week to lose 2 pounds. You understand why you gained 1 pound, and it's good that you're feeling ok about it. Hopefully you'll be back in the losing streak again next week, and like you say, 'back on the losing train'.
Morning Lowcal, great news about losing those inches!
I didn't weigh myself last Minday but have gone down 100g since my last weigh-in, at 52.4. Frankly I'm surprised at this since I've had a cold non-stop for almost 3 weeks, with the whole aching muscles, cough and everything, and that drives me to eat stuff like choccie biccies for comfort. So not bad really.
Wishing a great week to all, and congratulations to Ruth on the new job!
Morning and thanks for your kind words re: those inches.
Really great to hear that you've lost 100g since your last weigh-in, and I know you're surprised about that as you've had a non-stop cold - you poor thing - I really hope you feel better really soon. Hopefully that's your quota of bad colds out of the way for the year - Spring is definitely coming and hopefully you'll be full of life and feeling very healthy very soon!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been under the weather for so long Carolee, but well done you for still managing to lose 100g, that's an amazing achievement!
Here's hoping that you'll be feeling heaps better, really soon
lowcal, you sound like you have reached a set point which I think is very hard to move from - I've been stuck at 14 stone 9/10 for over a year now
Speaking of which, last week I was 14 stone 9.2 and this week I am 14 stone 9.8 so 0.6lb gain
I am not worrying about the scales at the moment, I finally joined a gym (not sure if I mentioned that) so now I have to figure out how to make the most of it
I found a friend to go zumba with so that has helped me to be consistent with my attendance
I think my aim this week is to find a good weight loss plan (both food and exercise) cause clearly making up my own isn't really working
Congrats to ruth on the new job, I'd love one of those right now - I'm in the oil & gas industry so falling oil prices has left everyone listening through closed doors and trying to grow their necks so they can look round corners or into meeting rooms.
I'm just trying to figure out a nice business plan lol perhaps I can be the fat version of Joe wicks - how to do 10 burpees with 30kg of excess weight
Hi Gracie, being stuck at your weight, or feeling unsettled at work, hasn't affected your sense of humour at all. Well done for looking on the bright side of life
Maybe you could have a think about starting the NHS 12 week plan, nothing venured, nothing gained I'm sure you'll find something to suit you though.
Great news to have found a zumba buddy and to have a gym membership to explore the possibilities of. How about joining in some of the challenges that are about? FizzyLiz will have a new one starting tomorrow and they have proved to be very motivating.
10 stone 2 last week, 10 stone 1 this week, so lost 1lb. Weight loss slowing down, but again better than a gain!
Again I know where it didn't go fantastically this week, as was sooooo close to hitting the 9s on Friday, but I'm excited about this next week if I keep eating right.
I bought a set of bar weights at the weekend too just to help with lots of low weight repetitions even if I don't want to go to the gym, so fingers crossed!
Hi Lowcal don't worry about 'bouncing' back a pound into the 13s, when you have fabulous measurement results to report! Well done you!
I have maintained this week at 12-3 which I'm pretty pleased with; I lost 4lb for last weeks weigh in so I'm glad that has stayed off, since I haven't stuck to plan over the weekend as I was staying with son and daughter in law and poorly granddaughter where we had wine and chocolate at the end of every day ( which was lovely!). Whilst I'm still really annoyed to have gone up again from achieving top of BMI range, and making it into the 11s, at least I'm a lot closer than I was two weeks ago. I know 12 to 12-6 very well, my body seems to like being here... But I would really like to lose a stone! This week I must try to maintain focus a bit more and eat a bit less!
Congratulations to you for maintaining this week, that is always better than a gain in our book. Like you said, you lost 4 pounds for last week's weigh-in, and so it's great that you've maintained all of that loss for this week. Well done!!!
Sorry to hear your Grand-daughter has been ill, and hope she gets better soon. I hope you enjoyed your stay with your son and daughter-in-law and your grand-daughter. At least you enjoyed the wine and chocolate daily - and you've managed to maintain your weight loss too. I know those 11's are being elusive for you - but I think our bodies do get attached to certain 'set points' and 12 to 12.6 sounds like your body's preferred place.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and hope you enjoy it.
Lowcal
Just heading into work but 1lb off. Total now 5lb. Going for 2lb next week for my half stone. Have a good day from another sunny day in scotland. : )
Morning Lowcal, I have maintained this week 13.9.9 and I am happy with that considering all that I have been up to. Iam having trouble with connecting on this site so will be brief as it keeps dropping out and then telling me it has redirected me too many times, this is not true!!!! Cheeky monkey! Have a great week everyone, well done Ruth on your new job.
Good morning! Well done for maintaining your weight this week. I know you are happy with that, and I think maintaining is much better than gaining, so always something to be celebrated in my book.
I am sorry to hear the site has been re-directing you too many times - like you say, it is a cheeky monkey to do that! Glad you managed to get here, and share your weigh-in result, and I'd like to wish you another great week ahead.
Well done lowcal, toning up and losing inches is a fantastic result! As for that elusive lb to get into the 12's, it WILL give in and go!!!
Last Monday I weighed in at 14 stone 9lbs, on Saturday I weighed 14 stones 7lbs so down 2lbs. I had an early weigh in as I am away on holiday in Cornwall this week.
So here I am in st Ives. Yesterday the weather was beautiful and we walked across all the beaches clocking up 6 miles. I am surrounded by food and temptation here!!! There are pasties, fish and chips, ice creams, fudge, chocolate, cafes..... The old me would have had one of each and gone home stuffed.
The new me says no thank you, I choose not to have them today. I am in control and I decide what I eat and when. There are lovely healthy things to eat and non-food treats to buy!
Where ever you are, what ever you are doing have a good week 😎
Have a lovely holiday 😊 All those hills will keep you fit 😊 St Ives is beautiful
Hi Lowcal
Sorry to hear you have a slight gain but you have a very positive plan to move forward. The measurements are showing you are becoming leaner, despite those pesky scales, so well done.
I was 10st 9.8 lbs last Monday and 10 st 9.6 lbs so a tiny loss of 0.2 lbs. This week my waist is 29 inches, so an inch loss in a week. I burned over 19,000 calories last week with over 350 Kms of activity and 918 active minutes. My calorie intake for the week was 10,000. So to me it proves that the scales are pesky, I could not have done anymore to lose weight, but I am very positive the weight loss will come with time. I'm a post menopausal woman so can't blame the hormones either. It's just one of those things. So if you have not lost weight this week I have absolute empathy, especially if you know you have stuck with the plan. We just have to stick with it some more. When the going gets tough, the tough get going, so I'm off on my travels. 🏞
Thanks for your encouraging words. I was so glad that I had a good result with my body measurements, it did help definitely!
Congratulations on losing 0.2 pound this week, that is in the right direction, and it's great to hear you've lost an inch off your waist. That is fantastic!
You've burned so many calories up with all that exercise you did last week, I kept reading your totals every day and saying 'Wow!!!!' - truely amazing, and you did the Challenge proud. Like you say, the weight will come off with time.
Hello! I've had a reasonable week - 72.2 last week and 71.9 today. So no gains, still creeping towards the goal. I was hoping to be at 70 by Easter, not sure if that's still on the cards. We'll see.
Congratulations on losing 0.3 kgs this week, that is great! You're still on track to potentially be at 70 kgs by Easter, all being well. In anycase you can get as close to it as you can, and that will still be an excellent result.
Hope you have had an enjoyable week, and hope next week is a good one.
Yaaaaaa Elle, you managed to get here at last! I'm so sorry you had problems with the site, but I'm delighted that you're safely here with us now!
Thanks for sharing your starting weight and goals with us, hopefully that should be the last time you see that figure
I know you've had a chance to read our newbie thread and I wonder whether you've decided to try the NHS 12 week plan? Lots of us are and it's a nice easy way to start your journey
There are several challenges running at the moment and a new one about to start tomorrow, all with the aim of motivating you to your goals of improved health and fitness. It would be fantastic if you decided to join us for some, or all of them
I'm delighted that you've decided to join us today and that you've been really brave and shared your starting weight Please don't feel bad about it, I started at 19st 10lbs and have lost 4.5st in 6 months! It's not an impossible dream, it's a very real possibility!
Have a look at our newbie thread, as it's full of helpful advice. Consider joining us in some, or all of the challenges and become active on the forum.
A maintain is always better than a gain kars and I suspect with a little bit of tightening up on the eating front, that will be turned into a loss
Have a great week
I'm struggling to get a reply to post! My fault for dithering so long about getting on the scales - I was really worried about a gain, even about how much of a gain it would be! My stomach has felt bloated from reintroducing wheat and my exercise has massively slipped from things suddenly getting busy last week. But amazingly I've lost 3lbs down to 10st0. So next week I'm aiming to stay the same or perhaps see 9st13... Anything's possible! So Lowcal, don't worry about your little gain, our bodies are weird, the reduction in measurements shows that change is definitely happening. I hope you get back below 13 next week. A few of us are hovering at thresholds... Thanks too for helping me out with the stats. You already contribute so much on here, I really appreciate you taking this on for me while I struggle with these two jobs crossing over. Everyone is amazing in fact - together we lose the equivalent of a medium sized mammal every week - and anyone who stays the same or gains gets invaluable group support. Happy weighings everyone
To be honest I was pushing the limit of what I could manage from a phone and when my whole first message vanished I was partly annoyed with myself because I know it's risky to try to reply to a long thread from a phone - although it would be great if it was easier - not sure if it was any worse or better today though. But I persevered and luckily I got something to stick in the end! You're pretty slim these days too Moreless, honestly before you know it you'll be in the 14s, then 13s... thanks so much for all your encouragement - hope you've had an excellent weigh-in day - I spotted that you lost too. Exciting times
I have maintained this week which I'm quite pleased with to be honest as I haven't stuck strictly to plan. This time next week I will hopefully be in the air (if my flight leaves on time), I set myself an Easter Challenge of being in the 9's when I leave for my hols but sadly it is not to be. I currently need to lose 2 lb to achieve the top of my healthy BMI range of 10st 2lb so I am going to have a really strict week and see if I can achieve a healthy BMI instead.
Thanks moreless, I'm not sure if it will be quite skimpy bikini weather but I'm hoping to that my golf shorts are called for. Well done on your loss this week too, your determination to succeed is a lesson to us all especially when we have a not so good week.
Delighted to have held onto yesterday's weight of 11 stone after a good lunch! I think this is a loss of 1 (or 2?) pounds from last week.
Thanks to Lowcal for the advice about choosing one option among a few. Had a fair bit of wine, but also a good walk along the seafront and didn't need to eat in the evening so... I guess it does make sense!
Just got to hold on for next week to get into those elusive tens!
I'm just doing the weekly stats, and can confirm that you lost 2 pounds, as your weigh-in on 7th March was 11 stone 2 pounds, and you were 11 stones exactly on 14th March. So Congratulations on losing 2 pounds, and good luck for the weigh-in on 21st March!
Thanks Lowcal; I had been up and down in that area; and last week been a bit up then back to 11 stone. Managing to get back in the gym which increasingly, I realise, I have to do, regardless of what I do or don't eat. Thanks for the message, nice to know. Jolly Saturday evening and a good and productive Sunday to you too.
Good morning, it is a lovely Spring day - let's hope it lasts.
Congratulations to you for losing 1.5 pounds - I notice you've done that between week 8 and week 10, therefore over a 2 week period, so for the stats I will count it as 0.75 pound loss for this week (hope that's ok with you!).
You are making excellent progress, and I hope you're enjoying it so far.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and as you're aiming to get more regular with your weigh-ins, I look forward to seeing you at next Monday's weigh-in, all being well.
Hi, I am still unable to get to this part without going right around the houses, I cant get here via email link only by Daily Digest link, then communities, then selecting Weight. Am I the only one or has this happened before. Ive cleared all cookies, browsing history but if I try connecting via your email link Lowcal it says the site not working and its redirected me too many times!!! Frustration!!!
I am so sorry to hear you're still having difficulties. I just came back from my breakfast, and I also couldn't get back in via the link to the Monday group weigh-in - I had to get in via another link to a less busy thread - so I found it difficult myself, and I haven't experienced many problems previously.
I will ensure I message the Tech people to let them know there's a problem for some of us.
Really sorry you're experiencing such frustrations, and I really hope it will get better.
I can imagine you had fun in Londinium? I hope so!!! That 1.5 pound gain will soon go away - just focus and enjoy the week ahead, and you'll soon be back on track.
Wishing you a great week.
Hope you have a good day - and look forward to catching up with you later.
Brilliant news about your inch loss, that's what other people notice, not what the scales say
Again this week I've only lost 0.25lb despite my aim of a whole lb. It's my own fault though, we are hosting 2 Italian girls for a week and so had to make them a traditional British pudding and it would have been rude for me not to eat any!!! I've also been tucking in to Mother's day chocolates Note to self - stop being such a greedy pig!
I won't be coming to confession next week as my partner and I are visiting his family in N. Ireland on Saturday for a week so good luck everyone for the week ahead, I doubt I'll have good weight news on my return but heyhoe!
Which British pudding(s) did you plump (s'cuse the pun ) for, in the end?
Have a great time in Ireland and we'll look forward to hearing all about it on your return. Try and steer clear of the Guinness and other Irish delicacies
Good morning this week I've lost that pesky pound I put on last week!! Aim to do at least 10km on exercise bike and stick to 1400 calories x looking forward to starting the new challenge tomorrow
Morning I completed a 20 mile run yesterday along with my mum -so pretty chuffed and ready for the marathon. Well done on some amazing results already
Start weight: 12st 2.2lb
Week 1: 11st13.2lb
Week 2: 11st 10.6lb
Week 3: 11st 9.4lb
Week 4: 11st 12.2lb
Week 5: 11st 11lb
Week 6: 11st 7.8 lb
Week 7: 11st 5.4lb
Week 8: 11st 2.8lb
Week 9: 11st 0.6lb
Week 10: 10st 13.8lb
Not much of a loss this week but it's still a loss and I've hit the 10's Had a few days break away and a sugar crazing Saturday so I'm glad I've managed to lose a little.
Firstly, many Congratulations for running a 20 mile Marathon yesterday with your Mum - brilliant that you did that amazing achievement together. I hope you've recovered a bit - I can imagine that would be quite tiring!!!
Congratulations on losing 0.8 pound this week, that is great! You're into the 10's - woooo hoooo!!! Really great! I hope that feels good!
Glad you enjoyed your break away and hope you have a great week ahead.
Hi, sorry I've had a couple of weeks away so not been on here in a while. I was glad to see though that I have managed to maintain my weight during this time though. I was at 92.2kg this morning, I last measured at 92.7kg I believe. Still creeping towards the 80's!!
It's great to see you, and welcome back! It's great to hear that you managed to maintain your weight during the time you've been away, and that's really great. A maintain is so much better than a again, so well done! You're still on your way to the 80's, and I hope you have a great week ahead.
I am just doing the weekly stats, and notice that I misread your weight, and that you actually lost 0.5 kg this week, so that is even better than a maintain. Congratulations!!!
Hope you're having a great weekend, and good luck for Monday's weigh-in.
Well I'm so happy again. 2lb off today that's my first half stone. Now weigh 14.1 so also nearly back in the 13 teens. Woop woop! and my daughter and i have just signed up to race for life, who am I dont recognise myself haha xxx
It's great that you're feeling so happy again - that's a wonderful feeling! Wow, you've lost 2 pounds and achieved your first half stone - Many Congratulations!!!! Really well done. You're getting very close to being back in the 13's. Not long now!!! Fantastic!!!
Woohoo Whyweight! WTG you! How fantastic that you've reached that first 1/2 stone marker and that you're sooooo close to the 13's! Here's to you reaching that wonderful goal by next week!
Hi Lowcal , Isn't it frustrating when you just want those scales to go down when you know you are doing all the right things, hubby is very good when that happens he just says stick with it, it will work and a few days later it does all be it very slowly now. So today weigh10. 10 3/4 which is loss of 1 and 3/4 lb since last mon but still showing loss of 3st 1.1/4lb from start, slightly miffed that it went up 1/2lb overnight but had grand kids and cooked spag bol with one of those cook in sauces ,had mine with jacket potato and some salad but that must have been the culprit. cooking with herbs and fresh stuff is the only answer. never mind salmon tonight and no potatoes. Have a good week everyone and don't even think about chocolate eggs how about those Faberge eggs , make one as jewellery box? or buy one, much more lasting and beautiful. x
Your husband gives you some great advice - and I will also take that advice on board and just 'stick with it'. I really liked seeing your lovely before and after photos yesterday, great that you posted those, and you looked especially great in that beautiful pink dress - I bet you did lots of great dancing in that.
Congratulations on losing 1.75 pounds this week. I know you're feeling slightly miffed that the scales went up half a pound overnight, they do that sometimes don't they! I agree that using fresh herbs and ingredients is great, but I can also understand using a convenience product from time to time.
I'm already thinking of my 'plan' to tackle Easter, and already began 'discussions' with family about it - i.e. that this year we won't be giving each other any chocolate eggs or edible gifts - so that's going to help quite a bit!!! Not having them around will definitely stop a lot of the temptation.
Well, despite all the extra exercise and staying the same weight last week, I can report a one pound loss this week. Was 14 stone 4 lbs now 14 st 3 lbs hooray!
I need to lose 2 lb this week or I won't get to my target for the Easter challenge. Need to keep moving, but be gentle on my knees which are still aching this morning.
Great to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, Congratulations!!!
Yes, do be careful regarding your knees, and make sure you pace yourself accordingly - better to be kind to them. I know you want to lose 2 pounds to achieve your Easter Challenge, but the fact is you're going in the right direction and you're making good progress, so do what you can.
I so much want to do more, but I know I need to look after my knees as arthritis and wear and tear are taking their toll and I don't want to be on crutches as I was for a week last year!
I will be gentle with my walking -not so brisk this week and try some sit ups to help burn calories instead.
Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds in your first week, that is really great! You're starting to move and your clothes are already feeling a lot better - those are both great outcomes in addition to the difference on the scales.
Glad you're enjoying how you're feeling, and I hope you have another really great week ahead.
Last week 14.5lb this monday 14.3lb. Not achieved my 3lb aim but I am OK with this.
Waist the same as last week
Bust down half an inch
thighs still the same at 19/19
Bingo wing department down 1 inch to a still scary 14/14
Body composite says I have converted 2lb fat into 2 lb of muscle so win/win.
I was not sure how this week would go because I have added a high vit C with pure Collagen supplement drink to help, hopefully, with my upper shoulder and neck problems etc I wanted to start moving them a bit (left arm barely moves with muscle wastage) and adding some strengthening holds, using the large garden pruners will do that
Seems to have worked for upper body, however, I have had no solid blocks of sleep (over 2 hours) for 3 nights now because of the pressure, pain and crunching and just can't get into a good position. I will work on it but I think I need to give the neck and shoulders a rest. Feel like I need a surgical collar to be honest lol
On a brighter note the new path and hide-away area under the ornamental weeping pear is coming on lovely
You're still going fabulously well Hud, I'm really in awe of the fantastically ordered way you're tackling everything. I'm finding your journey absolutely fascinating and love your positive attitude
I am, though, very concerned about the pain you're suffering and the lack of sleep. Maybe ask your GP for a collar and see if it does afford you some relief?
I'm very envious of your new path, hideaway and weeping pear. The combination sounds just lovely
Fingers crossed for a great week for you, with 2lbs lost, inches reduced and a cessation of pain
Thanks Moreless, afraid the pain is permanent and I reduced the meds so I can lose weight. The neuro meds I am on pile the weight on, the NSAIDs retain water, its one of the reasons I need to lose the weight fast and get fitter. Bad nights are a way of life but if I can get a block of 4 hours I am cooking on gas
Our garden is a magical place, people just fall in love with it. Currently the two ducks (well the girl Egg) we hatched and raised from broken eggs after a heron/kestrel attack are sleeping on the side of the pond, the waterfall is back on and most of the cover off. The buds on all the shrubs and trees are ready to burst into blossom and the daffs are standing tall along with the snow drops that are still out. Someone has eaten all the primroses. Its not the biggest garden in the world it just has lots of interesting parts to it.
Lol it takes year to grow magic, but if you already have lots of mature trees, and shrubs in it then doing a plan of what you would like it to be using the greenery existing, you have a plan, may take years to complete, plants and trees can't be hurried. I always cringe when here about people chopping and lopping, turning a beautiful thing of nature into an ugly freakish thing. I have noticed that as men get older they seem to become threatened by trees and cut them down, hedges have to be tamed etc. You can walk around an area and spot where the middle aged man lives. The lawn is the focus. Our garden is not neat
I was trying to reply to your post, but I couldn't seem to get the 'reply' button to work for a while, but it seems to be working now! Phew! I felt like it was a 'mini-workout' just pressing and re-pressing it.
Firstly, many Congratulations on your excellent progress to date. You've lots a total of 1 stone and 1 pound, and you're just starting week 5. You've lost 2 pounds this week - really well done!
I really hope you get some more sleep over the next few nights, as you've definitely been struggling to get very much this week, and I can imagine that really takes its toll - sleep deprivation is horrible.
Your advice yesterday about homemade pickling is brilliant, and I am looking forward to doing some of that really soon. I still have some bought pickles to use up first, but as soon as they gone I'm going to be ready with some of my own! Thank you!
It's great that your garden area is coming along well - it sounds lovely.
Sorry for the -slight- weight gain and glad about your measurements success. Somehow you always a way to cheer yourself about something. Anything. I like that :). What an inspiration!
Soooo happy for Ruth and yes I can imagine the headache of the stats, well done to you both!
As for me well....tada!!! I have now entered the HEALTHY range of my BMI!!! I am just amazed, my eyes are welling up as I am writing this. I have 3 minutes before having to leave the house but I am sooo excited I thought I would write something quick first. This morning I was 70.1kg i.e. 11 st and half a pound, meaning I have lost 1.2kg since last week. And compared to 14st when I started in September. It took me 27 weeks exactly, just 6 months and one week, to go from BMI 32 to BMI 24.8. I cannot believe it. I am so happy.
I would like to thank everyone here before I am able to come back and write more.
Oh Nussaybah, I'm absolutely delighted for you and can feel myself welling up too! You must write your story now! What an inspiring and motivational read it would be for everyone Obese to healthy in just 6 short months! Fantazmagorical!! You clever, clever thing you!
I hope you continue to float on cloud 9 for a long, long time
I am absolutely thrilled to hear you're in the healthy BMI range as of today. That is so fantastic!!!! I can understand you're feeling emotional about it, it is such a great achievement. Really well done and many Congratulations!!!
Wow, you've lost 1.2 kgs since last week, that is a really good result.
Glad you're feeling so happy - you deserve to feel the best you can feel, as you're amazing!
Thanks also for your kind comments to us - much appreciated!
Wishing you a great day and another fantastic week ahead.
13 8 nothing lost but nothing gained, had to use steroids last wk for asthma so didn't expect to much. At least today is better for me. Walking into town after docs going long way about 4 miles. Depending on how much I have buy I will be walking back 3 miles the short journey.
Like you say, nothing gained, and we also celebrate a 'maintain' as it is so much better than a gain, so Congratulations!!!
I hope the steroids have helped your asthma - take it easy and pace yourself. Hope you enjoy your walk - 4 miles is a long way! Hope you have a great day and also a really good week ahead.
Thanks local, the asthma is back under control. I sometimes walk 7 miles with a full backpack at a leisurely pace. Today wont be much different if I walk back have already done half an hour this morning at a fast pace and felt great.
I have not weighed myself for a couple of years, shock horror. I gave up because of lymphedema, but I realise that I still have to try! I just weighed in at the highest I have ever known...17st 10lbs...and the plan is:
1. Not to have sugar and reduce carbs...(I'm diabetic, and should be careful anyway)
2. Do two 18 hour fasts each week, Tuesday and Thursday, as in the 5:2 diet.
3. Keep a list on the computer, of what I eat each day
be very careful about your blood sugars and insulin balance while fasting. Daft question but have you checked that fasting is OK with the doc. You probably have so just ignore me
I only ask because in religions that fast at certain times during daylight hours, diabetics are allowed not to fast
I realise I need to be careful. My doctor was the one who suggested fasting with the 5:2 diet...but the fast is not total....you are allowed 500 cals during the 18 hours' fast.
I was just beginning to feel a bit dizzy, after 16 hours of no food, so I'm having a couple of crackers so I can go out and do gardening. In 2 hours I will have a late lunch, but to be honest I dont actually feel hungry. My sugar is a bit high. so the fast may even help. Luckily I dont so far have problems with the diabetes....
It is a suggested solution to control diabetes. Remember you can have healthy calories that do the same thing, try and have some fruit next time instead of crackers, I love pineapple
Good morning everyone. Congratulations on all the fantastic weight and inches losses - very inspirational. Well this morning I weigh 16.11.4, so up 2 3/4 lbs on last week. However I'm not unduly worried, as mid-week my weight soared to over 17 stone, but I am sure this was due to water retention. It has been gradually coming down, so I am hoping that when things level out there will be a net loss. I have been having more substantial breakfasts than my usual cereal or toast, because I realised that mid-morning I was getting very hungry and often eating unhealthy snacks, so I've switched to things like porridge, or poached/scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast and have lasted through to lunchtime without the need for a snack. Have also gone back to rigorous calorie counting, as I'd started to guesstimate total daily intake, so I hope I will see the benefits. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy week.
I know you've gained 2.75 pound this week, but you said you've experienced some water retention, and I'm pleased to hear it's coming back down again, and therefore once things level out, you'll be able to see a net loss.
You've switched to the kind of breakfasts I absolutely love - I always have porridge on weekdays with fruit and nuts and seeds, and I find it really sustaining. I also really love poached eggs - probably prefer them to scrambled, but both are great, and I also choose wholemeal toast - it's so delicious! I love talking about breakfasts - I'm sure you can tell.
I've also started rigorous calorie counting again as well - and printed out my daily intake, which I enjoyed doing. I hope you're finding the process not too time-consuming. I find that Myfitnesspal helps me to do it easily and without being time consuming.
I hope you have a great week ahead, and hopefully you'll be seeing a loss on the scales for next week's weigh-in, once your water retention has gone.
Well done for remaining level-headed about your weight gain jiggly, it so helps to keep things in perspective and keep going
Your plan to eat a more substantial breakfast, that keeps you going til lunchtime, is a really good one and I'm sure will stand you in good stead. There's nothing worse than being hungry and it does lead to grabbing things that are less than ideal, to eat!
Going back to basics, will undoubtably lead to greater success on the scales, because sometimes, our guesstimates get a little skewed
Wishing you a great week
Welldd Lowcal on your progress. And as ever thanks for your warm words of encouragement. Well after all my moaning about only dropping 1.5 lbs the scales this morning told a different story. I am now 12 St 12.75 lbs, down 2.5 lbs from last week's 13 St 1.5 lbs. Correction. That’s a drop of 2.75 lbs. I'm not quite sure I believe it but I weighed myself 3 times. And got the same result each time! How unusual is that?!
Thank you so much. Wow, I am thrilled to hear you've lost 2.75 pounds - you have excelled yourself!!! That is a fantastic result. Many Congratulations!!!!
I can understand you weighed yourself 3 times. But you can be sure it's the right result, having validated it like that by re-weighing.
I bet you're feeling really good - and long may it last.
Week 8 completed and now 11st 0lbs (briefly saw a 10 on Friday so hopefully next week will get there) so 2llb 4 oz for the week
Waist measure now 88cms so 7 cms lost from the dreaded middle that's nearly 3 '' so I am very happy, need to lose a few more to have a 'safe' waist to protect the organs from fat building internally, for women under 80 cms.
Aim for week 9 to get to at least 10 st 13llbs which will also be the first stone lost. But ideally lose two llbs which will get my BMI under 25 Challenge on.
Wow, you've lost 2 pounds and 4 ounces this week, that is fantastic. Congratulations!!! Great that you also briefly saw the peek of a 10 on Friday - it's teasing you! Hopefully next week you'll be in the 10's, and that will be amazing!
Great that you've also lost nearly 3 inches (7cms) from your waist - that is significant!!! I've just worked out that 80 cms = 32 inches, so I am happy to say I've just got into the 'safe' waist range - as I'm currenly 31.5.... That's made me very happy, so thanks for mentioning that! You're getting much closer to that range yourself, you'll be there soon!
Good luck with your goal to achieve your first stone, and also get your BMI under 25. That's a great Challenge for yourself - you go for it!
Thanks Lowcal and well done to you for getting the waist into a safe place too That is when you can really feel differently in your jeans too, when no marks are left around your middle, yes?
Hi I am new to this group. I joined last week but couldn't find this thread!
I weighed in at 100k and this week I gave weighed in at 97.2 which is a bit of a nice surprise.
Normally I am moderately active but this last 2.5 weeks I've had a cold/cough so I've done nothing except sleep and read. Hopefully this week will be better.
The only fitness goal I am setting this week is to feel better by parkrun on Saturday where I will volunteer rather than run this time!
Thank you for joining us in this Monday group weigh-in, and I'm so sorry you had difficulty finding us last week. If you look in the Events section (right-hand-side of the homepage) then you'll always find the latest thread). Alternatively if you click 'follow' and my name (Lowcal), then you would be automatically notified of when I post the sessions.
Anyway, the great thing is you're here now, and you've had an excellent first week - many Congratulations on losing 2.8 pounds, that is really great!!! Not only that, you're into the 90's now. Really good.
I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering with a cold and cough, and I do hope you have a better week ahead, and get some respite from that.
Hope the Parkrun goes well on Saturday and that you enjoy volunteering in that event.
Have you seen the Welcome Newbie thread yet, that Moreless has put together? Here's a link if you've not yet seen it, as it is very motivating and has some great content:
Thank you Lowcal! Such a lovely welcome, thank you. I will sort out the newbies thread.
Hi I started my new health kick last week I weighed 13 stone 4lb 😦. I've just weighed in at 13 I've lost 4lb . So the aching legs from stomping round the park were well worth it ☺
Yaaaay Alison! Well done you! Fingers crossed for those 5lbs before your holiday, I'm attempting something similar
Morning all
Some amazing weight losses on here today wow!
Lowcal you WILL get into those 12's i have no doubt : )
Well as most of you know i've had an "interesting" week losing 4lbs last week then stuffing my face for 2 days for no reason then gaining 5lbs (gutted) which sadly did not leave me via the sanitary system as i was promised : ( so i had to work my socks off and eventually it shifted via exercise and tightening up my food plan.
So lesson learn't there lol but in addition I lost an extra pound so at least i have something to show on the scales this week lol
I've also lost 10% today so i'm pretty pleased with that
Yes, there are some excellent results here today! Thanks for your encouragement re: the 12's. I remain positive and optimistic.
I am so glad to hear that you've lost 1 pound this week, especially after the fluctuation you experienced recently - and the fact you've lost 10% of your body weight today, is such a fantastic achievement - so you've 'done it' again!!!! Congratulations!!!!
I'm afraid Sopmarfree hasn't been able to post on the weigh-in thread today, so I've copied and pasted her, which isn't as painful as it sounds
I have asked her to clarify how much weight she's actually lost
Does anyone know why the weigh in thread won't post?? I had a lovely shock this morning when I weighed in at 9 st 13.75lbs CHUFFED!!!!!! must be because I suddenly upped my steps after being immobile with my back Can you pass it on for me? I will try again later if not ..... I know today will be busy with final stats xx
Thank you for painlessly copying and pasting Sopmarfree's results - I will message her to let her know about the weigh-in post glitches, and that hopefully these are now fixed, providing she reloads her pages.
Anyway, my reply to Sopmarfree is: I am thrilled to hear that you are chuffed with your results, and to being in the 9's - that is absolutely brilliant. Many Congratulations. I will have to find out what your weight was last week, and don't worry - I will look into that later, as I don't want you to feel anymore stressed out trying to get here - although hopefully the glitches will now be fixed, all being well.
I note that Sopmarfree was 10 stone 5.75 pounds last week, so it means she's lost 6 pounds this week! Wow!!!
I would imagine you might have an interesting result next week Sopmarfree, but losing nearly half a stone in one week is massive! Do let me know if I've got this wrong, I just looked back at your result from last week, so I've worked it out from that.
10.10am I have received a message back from the Healthunlocked 'Helpdesk' that a member of the Tech team has added a quick fix to the post, and if you are having difficulties, then please re-load your pages, and the thread should hopefully be working normally now.
If you are however continuing to have problems, then please respond to this post and let me know.
Last Monday I was 15,11 and today I am 15,7 so a loss of 4lbs! I had to stand on the scales three times before I could believe it. I've been quite well behaved this week but I don't feel like I've been overly good. I have upped my running a bit though as you may have noticed from the 80days challenge so perhaps those slightly longer runs are finally paying off. Whatever the reason, I'm pretty much over the moon. Suddenly that easter challenge looks a little more achievable.
Wow, what a great result! Many Congratulations on losing 4 pounds - you are another of the 'triple weighers' who need to re-weigh to validate your results. Those slightly longer runs are paying off - and like you say, whatever the precise factors contributing to your result, it is worth celebrating and I'm glad you're feeling over the moon. I don't want to put a dampener on it, but do be aware that you might gain a little next week, as often with a large loss, the weight then often fluctuates a bit - so if you do happen to gain next week, then look at the overall trend, which should be downwards! But maybe you'll have a different outcome - whatever happens, remember you're doing really well.
Wishing you another great week ahead and enjoy those runs!
Not a dampener at all - I've only kept going as long as I have because of these Monday threads really and seeing how despite everyone having ups and downs, the overall trend is always downwards. I've had a lot of small gains which before might have detailed me and made me give up but I've learned now that it's all part of the journey. I'm hoping to maintain next week but I'm prepared for going up a bit too
This week I have lost 4lbs gone from 17st 6lbs to 17st 2lbs. I bought a smaller size pair of jeans which fit comfortably. So I'm feeling really good. Thanks for all your help and encouragement x
Wow, you've lost 4 pounds - that is amazing! Congratulations! Great that you're feeling really good and that you have bought a smaller size pair of jeans which fit comfortably. You can wear those jeans with great pride, and I hope you do!
It might be that you may see a possible rise in the scales next week, depending on how your body weight settles after a larger loss, but it might not necessarily happen - I just wanted to mention it, just incase, as it can be a bit soul destroying when it goes up again - remember that it's the overall trend downwards that counts, and I'd like to wish you another great week ahead. You might see another loss, in which case that will be even better!
Wow, you've lost 3 pounds this week - many Congratulations!!! Also, brilliant that you're into the 13's. Really good!
Just think what will happen this week, if you can also get to more of your spin classes. I've seen those spin classes in action - they seem really frenetic! I did try one a couple of times, but found they were too fast for me...!
I'm so glad to hear you're feeling happy, that's such a great feeling.
Hi Lowcal sometimes we just can't catch a break on the journey and it's not through a lack of trying. A one pound gain isn't much in the grand scheme of things and I am sure you will get right back on track in no time hun
This week I must stick to the plan and not be tempted by any of the goodies I have had and stay away from snaking. I already feel I can do this, this week and my husband is on board with me so should hopefully workout and get back on track myself.
I have been to the dentist this morning and the bill is going to be over £200 for my tooth to be fixed Yikes! I kinda expected it though as the tooth broke off as well as the filling coming out. That's life though isn't it
The strength training is great and it's good that you are sticking to it and toning up. Those inches you have lost certainly show that you are sculpting your shape nicely
Will miss the round the world challenge, but looking forward to Tues when the next challenge is revealed. It helps keep us on our toes
Good luck with your goals this week Lowcal and have a wonderful week ahead
I am so glad that you've gone to see your dentist about your tooth - I thought that was tough that you had that over the weekend, but I know karma works in your favour as you did get your documents back - pity Karma can't work out something with regard to the huge bill though for the dental repairs!!! Not what you need really...
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words, and I hope that we both will have a great week going forward and achieve our goals for this week. The Around the World Challenge was epic, wasn't it. So many colourful destinations, and who'd have thought we'd share the journey with so many celebrities (past and present). Not to mention all of us on board too - I'm wondering what Tuesday's new Challenge will have in store - we'll all be looking out for FizzyLiz's post come Tuesday.
I hope you have a great week yourself Mrs T, and I will look out for your weigh-in post on Saturday. Good luck!!!
Had a bit of trouble logging on until now as the website was down for me... :/
I am happy though to report another loss for this week! 1.6lbs down bringing me to 12st 11.8lbs! I'm happy to be a few pounds into the 12's now. I hate teetering on the edge wondering if I will go back up into the 13st!
I didn't manage to get to the gym at all this week, just so busy! Will try harder this week to get a few sessions in.
Short and sweet post this morning, very busy in work! Have a good week everyone! Think slim!
Happy day Sophie, you're firmly ensconced in the 12's now! Well done you!
Sorry to hear you've had trouble with the site, we've certainly been experiencing some glitches with the thread, but the tech team have managed a quick fix for us. Fingers crossed that everything runs smoothly now
Good luck with managing to squeeze in a few sessions at the gym this week, that'll help with your "think slim" motto
It's great to see you Fifi15, and you said you'd be joining us here today, and here you' are! Welcome! You've shared your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do that, as I realise it can be a daunting thing. But here's to being lighter as the weeks progress, and hopefully you'll enjoy your weight loss journey and enjoy being part of this group.
I hope your first week goes really well. Are you going to follow the NHS 12 week plan? I'd recommend it as a great structure and it's full of sensible advice and information for healthy weight loss. I think you've already seen the Welcome Newbie thread, but I can't remember for certain - it's in the Pinned posts area if you do want to read it - right-hand-side of the homepage.
hi low cal, I havent started the plan yet but will check it out.,I am away with work this week so have focused on low carb eating when I am out and walking more. myfitness ap has been really useful to keep an eye on food intake.
Great! I hope you enjoy your week. Regarding carbs, choosing them carefully in terms of limiting intake of simple carbs (i.e. white bread, white rice, sugary foods) and choosing complex carbs (i.e. wholemeal and wholegrains, e.g. quinoa, bulgur wheat, wholemeal bread and wholemeal pasta) is helpful, as they keep you fuller for longer and have good nutrients as well as fibre.
Great that you're finding MFP helps keep an eye on your food intake.
Well toned Lowcal loving those numbers -Morning folks not like me to manage the morning I am still semi resting a niggly hip and starting to recover conservatory furniture, maintain at 11.2 very pleased as super social this week, had a dream that I was fat - it's because tidying up found some pictures from 1996-1999 when I was around 17st😳 I had obviously put them at the back of the pile.....
Great to see you! Thanks for your encouraging words. Sorry to hear you are nursing a niggly hip. You've done very well to maintain under those circumstances, alongside the super social week you've had. Interesting that you dreamed that you were fat - your subconscious was communicating with you there! I can see you were affected by seeing your previous photos - that must seem like an age ago now. You've been slim for a few years now - I was just mentioning the fact there are some maintainers out here still utilising the principles of the NHS eating plan, and here you are, demonstrating just that!
Thank you 😊 Yes the weekend away will be challenging, but as this is a permanent way of living I have to learn to deal with the eating outside my normal routine, 😕 I am slowly learning to eat out and enjoy my food without overeating 😊😊😊
This is my first Monday weigh-in, I'm 11 stone 11 pounds, I can't do a waist measurement as the tape measure is being elusive! Well done to everyone, you're all doing fab 😀
Welcome and thanks so much for joining us in the Monday group weigh-in. You've shared your starting weight, and your number is 'all the 11's' - I hope it felt ok to share - as it is a big step to take, and can be daunting, so well done for being brave.
Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post (that Moreless has put together)? Here's a link to it, incase you would like to have a read through of some of the things that people enjoy within the forum:
Just back from my holiday in Barbados, where my daughter got married on the beach. Lovely! Thought I would have put on weight in the last two weeks, what with all the delicious food out there (lot of gorgeous fish dishes with CHIPS - and it would be rude to refuse wouldn't it?). Mind you I did pass on the puddings! Pleased to see I have maintained my 9 stone 10 lbs on return home, so feeling good. Onwards and downwards...
Welcome back from your holiday in Barbados, and fantastic that you celebrated your daughter's Wedding there on the beach. Wow, that sounds gorgeous!
Well done for passing on the puddings, but I don't blame you one bit for indulging in the delicious food. You have done brilliantly to maintain your weight in such circumstances - that is a real achievement - so many Congratulations all round!
Thanks Lowcal, I'm looking forward to getting to my goal of 9 stone 7 lbs by the end of May. Then I'll have a bit of headroom to allow for the odd gain that inevitably creeps in!
At last it's letting me on, thanks lowcal i'm sorry for your gain but you will lose it again with more. It's great that you're getting toned up, last week I was 15st 4lb 6oz this week 15st 5lb 6oz. Ilb gain so hopefully onwards and downwards 👍
Thank you so much for your patience with the thread today - we had a computer glitch earlier, which has now been fixed thanks to the Tech team. Glad you got here ok. Glad you didn't give up!
Thanks so much for your kind encouraging words about my slight gain. I'm not letting it put me off. I'm happy to be toning up.
You have also gained 1 pound this week, and I hope you're going to similarly put that behind you and move forward to a great week ahead. I think we'll have a great week - so here's to an onwards and downwards trend for us both!
Like yourself I have put on a pound this week yet my clothes still feel looser and my measurements havent gone back up. Previously a gain would have set me off comfort eating but I'm pleased to say I'm just continuing with my plan, quite an achievement for me.
Well done on all the toning up The scales don't always tell the full story do they?
I have a lost another half a kilo this week, down to 88Kg. I am really pleased with that as I only exercised Monday and went for a run Sunday having felt really poorly all week (sinus yuk!). That half a kilo feels like a real achievement!
You're right, the scales don't tell the full story, and I am glad I kept my measurements to be able to get that feedback re: toning.
Congratulations on losing another 0.5 kg this week, that is really great! I am sorry to hear you struggled with your sinuses for a lot of last week, and I hope you'll get some respite from that soon.
I've stayed the same for two weeks 12.2. knuckling down this week. distractions have gone home. Oh dear what a way to talk about my beloved sister. healthy eating from now on
Congratulations for maintaining your weight - especially as you've had a family visitor over, and had a few distractions. It can be harder when you're out of your usual routine, for definite! A maintain is much better than a gain, so really well done.
Hope you have a great week ahead, especially now you have probably got more opportunities to choose your own healthy eating choices.
Lowcal
Dear Fabulous Five,
Dear Lowcal, I think I lost a pound...
OOOps Tuesday morning weigh in 92,5kg. Yesterday morning I was late and didn't weigh myself... and now it is really early I know, but will be occupied meeting some gardeners today... And with my brother the food was delicious, my sister in law cooks the food so tasty that I wonder that the men don't dig in more, hahaha ;-P
Thank you Lowcal. Yes my sister-in-law has hungarian-romanian background and cooks and bakes fantasticly, simple cheap meals but ever so tasty. Take alone the boiled potatoes they were mixed with fresh chopped parsley, or the white bean soup with tomatoes, spinach, garlic and chopped smoked ham.... yummi. We have a striky ham here from the ribs of pork which gets quiet oftenly smoked...
But now I hope I do behave for the rest of the week and indulge more in thoughts than spooning out treacle, hahaha ;-D
I'm glad I've just read your reply at lunch-time Flower-arranger, because I am going to eat now, and you have definitely helped my appetite with all that talk of delicious food.
