This Monday Group weigh-in is run by the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless, and me, Lowcal). If you weigh in with us today, then one or more of the Fab 5'ers will respond to you at some point. Please be patient, as we have other commitments, but we can reassure you that you will receive a response from one or more of us at some point. Please also feel free to interact with one another and support each other as you wish. It's a friendly and supportive group.
This is the MORNING session, and later in the day there will be an afternoon/evening session, so please check you're weighing in the right thread. We will still be checking both threads, but it would help us a lot if you could try to post in the correct thread.
Once the afternoon/evening session has been posted, there will be a link to it here (as I will edit the thread to include the link as soon as it is posted). So if the link isn't here yet, it means it's still the morning, and that it hasn't yet been posted. But if you see the link, then click on it, and you'll be taken to the afternoon/evening post.
N.B. The time of the Afternoon/evening session will vary slightly due to my commitments, but I will try my best to post it during the lunchtime window, so between 12.00 midday to 1pm ish look here for the link, or for the post itself within the forum - alternatively you could click 'follow' and my name 'Lowcal' and you'd be automatically informed of all postings by me.
Message for Newbies:
If you are joining this group for the first time today, then Welcome. You are not alone, as we've had quite a few newbies over the past couple of weeks, and hopefully you'll all get to know one another relatively quickly. If you're new, just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals - setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful.
My weigh-in results:
OK, I'll kick off with my weight-in for this week. Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 2.2 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 1.6 pounds, so I've lost 0.6 pound this week. I had hoped to lose more, and I worked hard this week on both my healthy eating and exercise goals. But I am ok with 0.6 pound loss, as I always celebrate any loss on the scales, and it's in the right direction. I hope to continue as I am next week, and will aim to lose 1 pound this time, to improve on my result this week.
Group Stats:
Now to the exciting group stats, expertly compiled by our great Fab 5'er and stats woman (Ruth_Canal_Runner):
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 136.
Total overall weight lost: 191.1 pounds (86.7 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 84 (218.2 pounds lost) (99 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 19 (27.1 pounds gained) (12.3 kilos)
Total people who maintained their weight: 11.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 16.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 6.
The total weight lost as a group was 218.2 pounds (99 kilos) - which is equivalent to the weight of a Large Mountain Lion or an Addax Antelope! Fantastic results!!!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead, and thanks for joining us for today's Monday group weigh-in.

Well done asics. If you have seen 11 08 twice, that's your new 'lowest' weight, and whilst it may not be your Monday morning weigh-in weight, you should think that it will soon be your new normal weight, if you carry on with the healthy eating 😀 Brilliant!
Well done on your loss Lowcal. And good luck for this week to call other posters (except it is not luck it is hard work)
I hope it doesn't actually matter that I have opted to post in the morning thread as this is the one that fits in with day to day life most if that makes sense?
Great to see you again, and Congratulations on losing another 1kg this week, that is really great!
Thanks for your kind words, and it doesn't matter which thread you choose to weigh-in - you can swap and change week by week, as long as we're splitting the threads
It's a 'trial' currently, so we'll see if it works and whether we need to continue splitting it or not. It depends on whether IT can support a larger thread at a later stage or not. We're splitting it currently to try to ease the burden on the site, as our thread had got very big!
So yes, weigh-in in whichever thread suits you personally.
Starting weight 4/1/16 179.2 lbs, last week 11/1/16177.2 lbs, today 18/1/16 175.4 lbs, weight loss this week 1.8lbs total weight loss so far 3.8 lbs, slow going but in the right direction
Congratulations on losing 1.8 pounds last week, and to achieving a total loss of 3.8 pounds, that is really great! You are going in the right direction, and you are making great progress.
Good morning! Glad you like our idea to break into 2 threads. We hope it will help with the glitches etc.
Thanks for your kind words, I am hopeful that I'm getting closer to the 12's - they are so elusive, I know what they're like...!
Sorry to hear you're still having some cravings, and really hope you'll conquor those soon - Congratulations on your minor loss, and being within your maintenance range at 54.8kg. That's great.
Hopefully those sugar cravings will be something of the past very soon, and wishing you another excellent week ahead.
Can you believe those stats?!! I'm gobsmacked! That's a whole, fairly large person waved bye bye to, in one week!! WOOHOO! WTG us!! (well not me exactly, as I didn't contribute so much as an ounce towards it ) You rock!!
Well done Lowcal, you're on your way to the 12's, slowly and steadily
This week, I'm happy to say that I've lost 2.375lbs and another inch off my waist! Yeehah! All that walking and cycling is definitely helping out
I hope everyone else is as happy with their progress as I am
Yes, those stats are AMAZING - really great! Like you say, 99 kilos represents the body-weight of a fairly large person.
Thanks for your encouraging words, and it's great to hear you've lost 2.375 pounds this week, Congratulations!!!! Also, losing another inch from your waist - double cause for celebration! That is brilliant!
All that walking and cycling you've done this week has definitely paid off, and I was amazed by your kicking the km results.
Well done Moreless - you have seen consistent and steady weight loss. Another inch off waist must be v pleasing - i am saving myself for the end of the month treat of measurements
That's another amazing loss moreless How much is it overall now - you must be noticing such a difference now. Are other people beginning to notice and comment as well ?
Hi Lowcal, well done on your loss of 0.6 lbs this week, that is definitely worth celebrating as it bring you even closer to your first goal of reaching the 12's so I am really pleased for you it's always nice to see a loss and I am sure that you will reach your goal of losing 1 lb by next week I know you have been feeling really positive about reaching this first goal so keep going it's gonna happen and I wish you every success in achieving this in January
I maintained this week through all of my efforts, but maintaining is still rewarding and when I think of where I started out to where I am today I am still so very happy
Wishing you even more successes at your next weigh in Lowcal and have a great week ahead
Morning Traff, well done for maintaining, that's exactly what I did last Monday I think sometimes our bodies need time to adjust and then they start losing again. You're still well into the 10's though, which is a really enviable position.
Thank you moreless and I agree with your point about the body adjusting so I'm still pleased with a maintain. I'm firmly in the 10's as Ruth said to me and keep that in the forefront of my mind all the time now
Very excited Prin to the point of being scared LOL even Mr T is feeling scared now, exciting times ahead and yes 4 weeks to the day today eeeek butterflies and emotions running high
Hi Lowcal, lovely fab five and everyone else posting, Lowcal well done on your very healthy weight loss this week. Am v envious as once again my weight is the same as last Monday 91.2 kgs ( and a kilo more than Saturday).
I found the articles you sent me on weight loss plateau v helpful indeed. I really just need to go back to basics and reeducate myself on all things food.
No weigh in next week for me -am in Devon without scales.
A maintain is always better than a gain Gonti and I'm sure that when you return from Devon, you'll be able to tie down your eating and kick start the weight loss.
Hope you aren't planning on any swimming whilst you are down here this time Gonti We actually had some icy pavements here at the weekend, which for us is COLD !!!
Just to say that I'm glad you found the articles helpful, and I hope you have a lovely week in Devon!
Well done for maintaining your weight, it's so much better than a gain!
Lowcal
Good morning Lowcal, congrats on a consistent loss again, definitely something to celebrate as you well know by now, we can only hope for a general correlation between effort and results, but if the general trend is downwards then you're doing really well. The 12s are getting ever closer
I'm 10st4 today, exactly the same as last week. I'm happy to still be in my maintaining range of 10st0 to 10st7. I measured my waist this week, somehow worried it may have gained inches despite my not having gained any lbs. But it's the same as last September when I reached my goal, 27 inches still. I was very pleased and reassured by this. I definitely feel the weight is staying off.
I'm off out to brave the cold and dark for a run now, but I may pop in briefly again to say hi before work though. Happy weighings everyone
Hi Ruth (lovely Fab 5'er, and wonderful stats woman!),
Good morning! Many thanks on your kind words. I'm glad I've got a general downward trend, and I definitely celebrate that. The 12's are getting ever closer!
Wow, well done to you for maintaining at 10 stone 4 pounds this week, that is also cause for celebration, as you're well within your maintaining window of 10 stone to 10 stone 7 pounds. Congratulations!!! Glad to hear your waist has stayed the same too. 27 inches, wow!
Hope you cope ok with that cold and dark morning run. Look forward to catching up with you later.
Well done Ruth - you are doing really well at maintaining, especially as you've done been doing as much running as you'd hoped recently. That's great you are getting back into it again now though
• in reply to
Thanks Lucca - I have managed to do more cycling than I expected to - and it has made up for the lack of running to a certain extent. But yes I'm relieved to be maintaining - it really feels like my body wants to be at this weight - it's not a struggle, and it feels healthy. But I want to give myself the best chance so will definitely be getting my run on again asap
Thank you too Dave - you give so much when you post on here - your observations are always so useful for the rest of us too - a real inspiration. I hope you feel proud too. You've achieved a lot - majorly turning things around, and really seeming to be in with a fighting chance of staying on track again. Wishing you so much good will, good vibes and good luck (ever so slightly jealous of your summery longer days at the moment tho... - make good use of them while you've got them!)
What a fantastic result - Congratulations on losing 2.6 pounds this week, that is really great! You've left those 12's well and truely behind now, and you're well into the 11's. I bet that feels good.
Really good to hear you're feeling happy with your results, as you're doing so well, and making great progress.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
Apologies, went awol over holidays. So starting weight last week was 69.9kg (not 70!) and this morning 68.4kg so 1.5kg lost. Yay!
Am trying the new Michael Moseley blood sugar diet starting today. Hope it does what it says on the tin.
Good Morning LC- despite the weather - I am feeling all bright and breezy.
Congrats on the half pound loss - as you say despite all the exercise is slightly frustrating- but still a loss is a loss and you a very close to your goal now:-).
for me - ta - dah- a 2 pound loss - yay- that is just about 4 pounds since xmas and brings me to within 3 pounds of the 12s. This is the result of some fairly focused effort on my part. In particular applying the 80% feeling full rule of thumb and stop eating at that point. It is the best result I have had in a year!!
One of my new year missions - is to get to 12 stone by end a jan - so that is 1.5 pounds and a bit a week:-).
Good luck everyone and i will catch the post later today
I am so glad that you're feeling all bright and breezy despite the weather - how do you do that? Thanks for your kind words.
Wow, you've lost 2 pounds this week, that is really great! Congratulations! Your focused effort has worked, and using your 80% feeling full rule of thumb sounds like a useful strategy.
Good luck with your goal to get to 12 stone by the end of January - it should be doable, and you're making great progress so far to achieve that.
Have a great day, and look forward to catching up with you later.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Suzybenj, I couldn't be happier for you A result well worth waiting for
Good luck with your end of January goal, those 11's are calling
Hi Lowcal and the Fab 5ers
Just finished my second week and am really enjoying the healthier diet and more exercise. Last week 11st 8.2 lbs and this week 11st 6.2lbs. Bmi now 29.5 so officially I'm overweight but no longer obese. Whoohooooo! Hope everyone has a good week this week.
Hello I think I forgot to weigh in last week - I'm still on Christmas times I think and losing track of the days like our bin men. I started at 94.5 and today I'm 92.4kg and I think that's two weeks weight loss.
Great to see you again, and glad you're here today for the weigh-in. So you've lost 2.1 kgs over a 2 week period, so I'll divide that by 2, which makes 1.05 kg lost this week - hope that's ok with you, Chloe, and Ruth will add that amount to this week's stats. Congratulations, that's a great result and excellent progress!
Oh dear chloe, I know what you mean about the bin men, however, if they'd only come on a Monday, then I'd never forget, cos Monday's my favourite day of the week
So, as far as you recall, you're 1.05kg down for each of the past 2 weeks. If that's not right, Ruth will sort me out
Hi didn't post or weigh last week, as my daughter had her first baby and I was on care duties. Came home last night and now hoping to get back to weight lost. I'm now into week 22 at week 20 I weighed 11st 8.25 now weigh 11st 8.5 so a gain og .25, a lot better than I expected! Have lost 2stone 6lbs in total. Hoping to get back on it properly this week, and shed the last stone to reach the healthy range.
You have done fantastically well to only gain 1/4lb in 2 weeks with all the excitement and upheaval you've been dealing with. Crumbs, when you get back to plan properly, you'll be dropping the pounds like crazy!
thank you. i am walking a lot at weekends, and swimming during the week. i could do more walking i guess. i used to jog but always seem to send my dodgy back into relapse when i do that so i'm nervous about starting up again.
i may have to try to record what i'm eating, to make sure it's ok. but i want to stick to my low glycemic load, rather than calorie counting approach. so not sure how to measure.
Oh my gosh June, is that 4lbs in one week?! That has to be a hormonal spike! Don't get too mad about it, by next week it will have gone and you'll be right back on track
Stayed the same as post christmas, 10st 10lb. Kick up arse today need to get back to pre Christmas 10st 5lb at best by taking control of food portion and exercise. Target 10st 8lb for next Monday. X
Morning all, managed to maintain this week and remain at 12 st 3. Had a blip last week and struggled with the munchies so I am pleased to have maintained. Resolve this week is to avoid the goodies that are still hidden around the house - I can't give them or throw them away as my two young girls would not be pleased. Hope all have a good week. I'll read the comments tonight when I get back from work as I find them motivating.
Weighed in for the first time last week and although id had a good week i managed to put on 1.4lbs and bring my weight up to 12st 7.2.
However i carried on calorie counting and working out and this morning my weight is 12st 2.2 so a loss of 5lbs!!! Im just delighted and so glad i didnt give up last week.
Thankyou Moreless...im so pleased....in the past i would have ignored a weigh in if i gained weight but i decided last week i had to be honest for this to work for me and im glad i was...reading through the other replys i can see that everyone has weeks where they are good but still manage to gain. I love this site...has really opened my eyes. Thanks for the support x
I used to be exactly the same! I too love the fact that you can be totally open and honest on this thread and be supported and encouraged through good and bad
Ooh - good luck with the half marathon training! 7 miles in 90 minutes is pretty decent! The furthest I've managed to run is 8km which is about 5 miles, although I haven't done anything silly like sign up for a HM... er I mean amazing... you'll be fine!
Cut out the snacks and set up a pedometer on my mobile, averaging 11,700 steps a day. Struggled without my crisps fix when i felt peckish but having watched BBC trust me im a Doctor, have been trying to eat breakfast a little later and supper earlier to curb my snacking/grazing, drinking lots of water and fruit which is working so far. This week im working late shifts at work so i may struggle as im normally too busy to eat and famished when i get home so im taking in home made soup and huge salads this week and going to make sure i get a proper break.
Well done with that weight loss Lowcal - you are getting there, so close now (I've got a bottle of calorie free champagne on ice ready for it !!)
Well, I've remained the same weight this week due to 9th birthday celebration weekend, which is only to be expected and I'm quite pleased about really (especially as yesterday I was looking at a 2lb gain !!).
So, all celebrations like Christmas and birthdays are out the way and I'm getting my serious head on to try and get down to this target of mine before we go away at Easter !!
Well done for maintaining Lucca, that was no mean feat, considering all the birthday goodies. That must be attributable to the running - fantastic!
We'll keep tabs on each other, because I've got a holiday coming up at easter, that I want to have lost as much weight as possible for. Let's see if we can do it
Good Morning Lowcal, Fab 5 and everyone weighing in today,
Well this thread really has become very popular hasn't it? My continued thanks to you Lowcal and Fab 5 for all the effort and time you put into making a very successful group, I've said this so many times; but for my part I'm grateful for your commitment as having a place where I can record my progress (or lack of it!) is a huge help in my weight loss plan, so thank you all.
Well done on you weight loss this week Lowcal, and I agree that any loss is good, if the scales are going in the right direction then you're winning, not setting your weekly goal too high is the best idea.
I shed 1& 1/2lbs this week, so I'm slowly getting back to target; just 3lbs to go. The only goal I'm setting myself this week is to lose weight regardless of how little, I'm in no rush so long as the scales are going down every week.
Hi everyone, you sound like the Monday weigh in has to be planned like a military operation! which justshows what a lot of work it is and can I say thank you on ALL our behalves for the work you put into it. Itis verymotivating to know thatthere is this weeklycheckin....
Having said that I missed last week as I was back at work (I am lecturer) and simply too busy. This week I am delaying going into work to post as I know I need to stay motivated. I have been searching in vain for my last post two weeks ago, but I think I was 11.10. I am now 11.7.4 so it continues to come off.
I went shopping for clothes on Saturday and although I am large I was size 16 and not the 18 that I had crept up to. It was very motivating to treat myself! One day I shall be the 14 I aim for.
Keep on everyone, it is the mental change that is the thing that works! And the thread has really helped me in that...
Hopefully, Tubbycat, the IT team will solve the problems with the site and we won't need to plan with such military precision
I'm delighted that you enjoy being part of the weigh-in as much as we do. There's not many people that can say they love Mondays AND weigh-ins
Well done with your loss, Ruth will be able to confirm the exact amount and how wonderful that you're down to a 16 now It won't be long before you're into the 14's
Stayed the same this week really struggling to lose now was wanting to get to 11 stone for Easter but I'm 12.13 still 1 them days where I'm just gonna look out for any tips and advise to help get over the hurdle x
It's horrible when everything stops Emma and difficult to keep going without the motivation of losing the lbs.
Maybe you could try shortening your eating window, as was suggested in the Trust me I'm a Doctor programme. or maybe you need to juggle what you're eating and when. I've heard lots of people say that not eating carbs after 5pm has helped them. It's really a case of trial and error and finding the thing that works for you
I really hope you find the answer soon and will be able to report a loss next Monday
Well was naughty and had Costa strawberry and cream coller as was down but think I might go for a run and try relax and give myself credit I went from 16st down to 12 I knew this would get harder but them tips will try and most prob change my diet around as usually have same breakfast everyday lol x
Strange week for me - resulting in a staying the same.
No exercise in the week due to tax return completion.
Weekend - dinner with my parents, 84 year old mum does not do low calorie!
Then to babysit sons girlfriend who had an op and son was away at work. So needed to keep quiet and still - even hoovering not possible.
Then Sunday was meant to busy in the park with granddaughter, but no - she woke up covered in vomit - not a well baby. So instead of playing in the snow in the park, it was washing bedding and lots of cuddles because mum can't yet.
Last week I was 14 stone 13 and this week I am 14 stone 10! so 3lbs off for me
Might be xmas weight coming off or even water - so I am really praying the scales don't go back up next week
Otherwise I am happy with that
My aim for this week is 2lbs! and to do at least 45min of fitness videos for the week (exercise has always been a big struggle for me - mostly because I am lazy)
I will continue with my regime of lemon water in the morning, cooking with a little coconut oil (both of which apparently help with weight loss) and experimenting with Low GL recipes
I plan to make some roasted chickpeas & quinoa for lunch tomorrow (never tried roasted chickpeas before - hoping I won't start twitching from the lack of meat
I also bought a machine to monitor my blood sugar because I have diabetes in the family - this morning it was 91mg/dL which I think is good for morning/fasting range
well done on your loss this week lowcal. Not a good week for me unfortunately had a bad start last week and seemed to go on an eating spree so know exactly what I was doing even tracked everything on mfp and am not feeling very proud of myself. 😔 As I weigh myself throughout the week every other day saw what damage had been done so it gave me the kick up the butt that i needed to get back on track but when weighing in this morning im sad to say i have gained 1lb.
Oh well this week is a new week so all meals planned this week calories all counted so fingers crossed i cant improve for next week.
Put it behind you kars, what's done is done. Give yourself a pat on the back for being able to stop the rot and get back on track. I'd say a 1lb gain is a small price to pay and you'll see the back of that by next Monday
Well done for sorting out all your meals, just don't be adding any extras
Stayed the same this week, had 2 nights out though with lots of fizz...back on track today & hoping to get to half stone mark by next Monday 👍🏻 have a good week everyone xx
Nobody has been "assigned" a weigh-in slot, you will just post when it's convenient to you. The only difference is that there will now be 2 threads, hopefully temporarily, to cope with the sheer volume of numbers. The morning thread will cover 7am - 12 noon approximately and the afternoon thread from 12 noon onwards. I hope that makes sense to you
WOOHOO! Into the 18's! WTG you!! What a fab result!
Further to what Moreless said about the new thread format (morning and afternoon threads), here's the post that I posted about this change, and also a link within that thread to the feedback that was provided by people, which lead to us constituting this change):
Morning everyone, this week I weigh 210.8lbs so a loss of 3.4lbs which I'm very happy with after a couple weeks with very small loses. Aiming to lose at least a pond next week and I will not longer have an obese BMI! Which will probably be for the first time in my life!
Well done to everyone that's lost weight this week and good luck to everyone for the week, hope you have a good one
Morning! It's great to hear you've lost 3.4 pounds this week, that is an excellent result - Congratulations!!!
I know you said you're aiming to lose a pond next week, but I know you mean a pound - and I wish you every success with that goal, as I know it will mean you will be out of the obese BMI category, and that is going to be a phenomenal achievement, so can't wait to celebrate that with you next week (all being well) I'm really excited with regard to your progress, you're doing so well.
Hope you have another great week ahead, and that you enjoy it.
I am weighing in at 11.1 today so1.5lb down I think on last week
I had a good week but succumbed to cheese and wine at the weekend tis my own fault
Goal for this week 1lb kitchen nearly finished so a chance for some more flexible meals that don't have to be microwave!
My Fitbit and the round the world challenge has seen me increase my exersise so that can only be positive- thank heavens all the cocktails we are having are virtual🍾
Here's to us all being on a losing streak this week
Thank you so much for your encouraging words and lovely emoticons!
Wow, you've got a great result this week, Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds - that is brilliant!!!
Glad to hear you had a good week, and hope you enjoyed that wine and cheese at the weekend - lovely combination by the way!
Great that your kitchen is also nearly finished - as that will mean you can get back to much greater flexibility regarding meal preparation etc - and don't have to rely solely on your microwave anymore. That will be great!
I know how much you're enjoying that new Fitbit of yours, really pleased it's been so good, and like you, I think the Around the World Challenge is incredibly motivating.
Yes, thank goodness the cocktails are indeed Virtual and therefore Virtuous!
Here's to the losing streak being with us all this week.
Good morning Lowcal and everyone- congrats on moving in the right direction Lowcal.
I decided to try hard to do well this week in honour of the Thin White Duke, and I am thrilled to be weighing in with a 4lb loss since last Monday putting me tantalisingly on 12 stone and no lbs 😀, just a single little pound away from the 11s and 11-13 which is the top of my BMI healthy range and it's also my first mini target of the year. ( Secretly I am finding this hard to accept and believe!).
I'm going to take this as enormous encouragement to keep going. I think it is just making up for last week when I stayed at 12-4, effectively a healthy 2lb / week loss over the last 2 weeks 😀
I made an extra effort to cut right back on snacking and to stuff myself with lovely veg instead of seconds - although yesterday I did snack quite a bit.
Also, the Round the World challenge is helping motivate me to keep walking and to get out and run, which doesn't necessarily mean weight loss but is great for mood, health, keeping metabolism going and not snacking!
Due to the cold weather I was sorting through my cold weather clothes and came across my ski trousers- haven't been skiing for at least four years and during that time I got bigger and bigger... Thought I'd try the ski trousers on and they are TOO BIG!!! Wow.
Thank you so much for your support, esp last Monday when I was stuck- and good luck this week everyone 😀
Good morning! You have done the Thin White Duke proud this week with your 4 pound loss - that is incredible!!!! Really well done! You weigh exactly 12 stone, on the cusp of the 11's, that is so exciting! Like you say, you've effectively achieved a healthy 2 pound per week loss over the past 2 weeks, but it's great that we can actually count the whole 4 pounds in this week's loss, as that is what you achieved this week.
I agree that the Around the World Challenge is incredibly motivating - great that you've been enjoying those walks and running - like you say, it's great for mood, health, keeping the metabolism going and overall fitness. I agree with you that it does seem to help with 'snacking' too, as I often don't feel like eating as much after doing a work-out.
What a great result that your ski trousers are 'TOO BIG' - just shows how much weight you've lost since you last tried them on. Impressive!
What you've shown is that you can get 'stuck' regarding the scales sometimes, but it doesn't mean that you're not making continued progress, and that if you keep on track and keep going, that you will see results in the end. They are worth the wait, aren't they.
Well done lowcal on your 0.6lb loss as you say any loss is a loss and all goes towards the bigger goal in the log term ☺
Just on the way to work 😩
My weight last week was 12st 9.5lb and this week is 12st 7.25lb - a loss of 2.25lb I had hoped to lose 1lb to clear my Xmas debt ☺and am extremely happy with this bigger loss.
Good morning! Thanks so much for your kind words. Much appreciated.
Many Congratulations on losing 2.25 pounds this week, that is really great! You've not only cleared your Xmas debt, but you've exceeded it - so that is such an excellent result. Well done!
Onwards and downwards. Hope you have a great day and a great week ahead.
You've made an excellent point about the fact that some weeks the results don't always show on the scales, and it was great that you had some good measurement changes body-wise last week - glad you're keeping your measurements too, so you can appreciate those changes. You've reminded me that I need to do my measurement comparisons too, so I'll aim to do that next week.
Wow, you've also got a great result on the scales this week, Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is really great!
You're back on track, and I hope you have another great week ahead.
Well I have to say its nice to be back in the swing of things again
After my weigh in last week it still took a few days before I actually got myself sorted and started properly eating right so my highest in the last 7 days was 143 kgs and I am down at 142 kgs this morning and I am more than happy with that considering the damage I did before I turned things around on Friday.
And well done on the weight loss Lowcal - much better to have a loss than a gain!
I must say it's great to know that you are back into the swing of things again, and it's great to see you here today!
Glad you've got your eating back on the right path again, and brilliant to hear you've lost 1kg this week, Congratulations on such a great result!
Thanks for your kind words on my weight loss as well, much appreciated. Like you say, so much better to have a loss than a gain! A gain can be a pain. Much better to lose or maintain - like my poetry there?!
Wishing you another great week ahead, and I am really enjoying your 'Daily Pledge Challenges' - they are brilliant!!!
Ooh... the scales are going down - that must feel ace! I hope you're being kind to yourself though as you gradually iron out the ups and downs of getting into a healthy routine - it may not be plain sailing yet although it definitely sounds like you've turned a corner. I agree with Lowcal that your pledges are a real joy. Trying to think about everything you should be doing at the same time becomes overwhelming, but just endeavouring to do one thing at a time - properly - is much more achievable, and therefore satisfying. Lots of luck for the week ahead, and hope you feel great about seeing that 1kg drop on the scales
Congratulations on your loss Lowcal, great group stats to help us all stay motivated. My first week and a bit disappointed only lost 1lb making me 11st 1lb but it included two days of having to eat out due to family/social commitments so the scale would ordinarily have been travelling in the other directions. I also completed the three runs on week one of the C25K and have decided to take my measurements as didn't do them at the start. Onwards and downwards. Hope you all have a good week !
Good morning, thanks for your kind words. Very encouraging, and I hope to get to the 12's soon. I really do!!!
Wow, you've lost another pound, that is great! Congratulations and really well done. You're getting every closer to your pre-Christmas weight, and you're nearly there. Not long now...!
Good morning Lowcal on this miserable wet day! Congratulations on your loss. I joined last week, thought I'd been careful but only managed a pound loss in this first week, still its in right direction.
Your scales seem much more accurate than mine, I may have to invest in a better pair as I find it difficult to see reading clearly, have tried a digital one but it was very temperamental. Onwards
Good morning! It is indeed a very miserable wet day - not very nice at all. Thanks so much for your kind words regarding my weight loss.
Great that you joined us last week, and I'm really pleased to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, that's a great start. Congratulations! You're on your way, and in the right direction, and I hope you enjoyed your first week. I'm assuming you're doing the NHS 12 week plan? Hope you found it easy to use and enjoyable. It's more of a lifestyle change than a 'diet' - at least that's how I view it.
Yes, my scales are quite accurate (at least I hope they are!), and it is helpful to see all the gradients of weight to see subtle changes. It might be worth investing in new scales if you feel yours aren't quite what you want them to be.
My weight last week was 12st 4lbs and today I weigh 12st so a loss of 4lbs (end of week 1) which has taken me a bit by surprise. Obviously good, so not moaning! Have not done much excercise this last week so probably just goes to show how much rubbish I was eating before. And probably also accounts for the few headaches I have had this week.
Anyway, that Was last week and is gone now. Need to look ahead. Planning more excercise this week though mainly walking as I am so unfit and want to start slowly. No point in putting my body into complete shock!
Good morning! Well done for completing your first week, and to acheiving such a great result - Congratulations on losing 4 pounds, that is really good! People often lose some water retention in the first week, so you can expect your weight loss rate to slow down from now on, so don't be disheartened if you achieve less weight loss next week - usually losing between 1 and 2 pounds is more usual once you're into the plan.
Hope you don't experience many headaches this week, as that must have been quite unpleasant. Maybe you were cutting down on things containing caffeine, especially if you were reducing sugary drinks etc?
Great to hear you're planning on some walking this week, that's really great exercise, and I hope you enjoy it. Very sensible to start gradually and pace yourself - that is extremely sensible and the best way. You don't want to cause any injuries or sprains through overdoing it.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and hope you'll enjoy week 2!
Continue to monitor your food and maybe try some walking, just to ease you back into exercising. You'll be surprised how quickly your fitness levels improve
Thank you both for your kind words. I am expecting to lose less this next week. My mini goal was 12st at the end of Jan so would have been happy at 1lb loss per week.
I won't get disheartened if I lose less this week. I am expecting it.
I generally avoid caffeine and have done since my late teens as it seems to have the opposite affect on me - has a soporific effect! I am putting the odd headache down to cutting down on my calorie intake. I am sticking to the 1400 cals recommended on the NHS plan. I am asuming I consumed much more before. Will have to see how that goes.
Really good to hear all the stories of what people have (or have not) achieved this last week. Good on those who have lost. Good luck to those who haven't or are not happy with their achievements. Just need to keep going. When I was dieting before I did find that one week I would either stay the same or gain but the following week lose what I had gained the week before and a bit more. Just works out that way sometimes I suppose.
Great to see you! Glad you joined us today for this Monday group weigh-in, you are very welcome. You've already lost 4 pounds since you weighed in on Thursday, what a great start! Congratulations!!!
Good luck for seeing how much you will have lost by Thursday. You're doing really well, and I hope you have a great week ahead.
Good morning, and so pleased to hear you've lost 2 pounds, that's an excellent result! Great to hear you're feeling so much better as well, that is any even better result!
Disappointed but not unexpected. After a super weight loss last week I've gained 1kg! Two back to back nights of dinner parties took its toll, more so because of what was drunk rather than eaten. Also, he snow has slowed my walking. There, thats my excuses 😆 On the plus side the soup has been made, new pedometer ordered and the focus is back. Trouble is I have friends coming for a four day weekend so not expecting to lose this week either 😢 Thinking positive though. Inspiration from here will see me through👍
Sounds like you've had quite a challenging week, in that you've had the back to back nights of dinner parties this week - and you noticed that the damage came from the amount you drank rather than what you ate. The impact of the weather is significant, it does make it so much harder to exercise, or to feel like exercising. At least you acknowledge what your challenges were, and you know what contributed to the 1kg gain - you have also listed many positives - having some filling delicious soup prepared for healthy lunches, and ordering your new pedometer will be really fun to use and motivating.
I know you have friends coming for the 4-day weekend - and that you're not expecting to lose this week either, but maybe you can consider minimising any potential 'damage' to your weight loss goals, by doing some pre-planning to ensure that you don't end up with a significant gain.
I would recommend reading through posts to look for potential ideas and tips to help you to cope with the weekend - the issue comes up a lot, and there are some good threads that discuss it.
When I know I have a 'social' set of occasions coming up, then I often set myself the goal of trying to 'maintain' my weight, because that helps me to set a realistic goal that is easier to achieve. It can be very difficult to lose weight during such times, but having the goal to 'maintain' means that hopefully you can either achieve it, or minimise the gain that occurs. Hope that makes sense.
That's right Bu-dog, get every ounce of inspiration and motivation that you can from this thread, that's the beauty of it
How about aiming to lose the kilo you gained and then maintain until your visitors have left. If you keep that in mind, it'll keep you from completely blowing it when you're with your guests
Morning all. Thanks for your encouraging words last week Lowcal, and well done on a loss this week!
I have had a good week and managed a loss of 4lbs! My body sometimes does this and than there will be a stick! I would love to lose 2lbs this week, but that may not be realistic after this weeks loss, we will see!
Can i just say I have had a dreadful week, weighing 12st 0.8lb today so I'm surprised to report a 0.2lb loss which is nice. Seriously need to get back on track as I was absolutely hammering this weight loss thing before Christmas and then I lost my motivation/ability haha
Best of luck getting into the 12's in the next week or two lowcal, with your determination it's easily possible
Well done everyone. I think that I posted in the wrong place last week, but here goes for this week.
80.8Kg so another kg off. I had two days where I fell off the wagon but have discovered the joys of a brisk walk and some low impact cardio videos on youtube so I'm not worried what the neighbours think when I jump around.
I don't seem to have lost any cm around my waist, but it was my bum I was most worried about I should start measuring there.
Do you have any idea where you did post last week? Sometimes we're lucky and are able to spot and round up straying sheep, but it appears we didn't find you, sorry about that
Let's hope your weight loss is as successful this week
Good morning everyone. I lost 3 lbs last week, down from 13 12 to 13 9. I was not sure how it would go as I've had a virus this week and went to bed on a couple of afternoons, so obviously calorie expenditure wouldn't be great. I've also been aware that I need to recover so I was careful to have enough nutrition too.
I'm glad of this start although aware that I usually find the first couple of weeks easy. I want to continue this over a period of months.
Thank you very much for this support group. It gives a focus.
Good morning! Congratulations on losing 3 pounds last week, that is a brilliant result! Sorry to hear you've had a virus though, and hope you're feeling much better now. I'm glad you looked after yourself, and made sure you had adequate nutrition - that should be the aim at all times (regardless of whether you're ill, because this is a lifestyle change and not a plan which advocates any lack of nutrients - so I hope you'll always ensure you have good nutrition in your meal plans).
Your weight loss amount will most likely level off and reduce to between 1 to 2 pounds per week as the weeks progress - many people find they lose more in the first couple of weeks, and there'll be occasional weeks where you might think you've stuck rigidly to the plan, but the scales give an unexpected result, so try not to let any of that put you off - stick with things and you'll hopefully see the onwards downwards trend that we all hope for.
Glad you're enjoying the thread and that it's providing some good focus. Thanks so much for being part of this group - it's great that we have so many enthusiastic new members on board.
0.5lbs on this morning. Went out to dinner on Sat, and I think this is largely residual from that, but I did have some awful binges over the last 3 days. But I suppose it's a case of drawing a line under it and starting a new week.
I have increased my exercise levels though I confess not to have my eating under control. This is the challenge for me this week. Still aiming for 280 pounds as my first time at 20 stone for 6 months.
Good morning! Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week. I always congratulate someone for maintaining, as it is so much better than gaining in my book, and I think it should be celebrated.
You mentioned that you have increased your exercise levels - hope you're enjoying doing that exercise and feeling better for it. Well done - it is challenging to do that at this time of year. I have had to set myself my goal to get to the gym today as a 'daily pledge' (one of Dave1961's Challenges) as I am feeling a bit 'lethargic' today and don't really feel like going to the gym, but I need to make myself do it - and that is a good way, as now I've pledged it in Dave's challenge, it will hopefully motivate me to do it). Also, knowing that I'll be clocking up some kms for the Around The World Challenge (Lizzy383040's challenge) is also helping to motivate me. Do check out their challenges if you fancy extra motivation - apologies if you're already doing either of them, and I've not noticed - there are so many new people in the forum, and I am trying to get to know and remember people.
You said you'll be working on getting your eating under control this week, so I'd like to wish you success with that. Do ask questions in the forum if you ever get stuck with anything, as there's bound to be someone who has faced something similar in the past, or present, and can offer you some tips or advice - based on their own experience, and that can be really helpful. We're all different, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another, but it can really help to hear other people's perspectives, and then try things out to see what might be helpful.
Dry January is continuing successfully and if losing weight slowly means you are more likely to keep it off then I should succeed at this rate. Now just need to work out if I will live long enough to get to the right BMI. HaHa.
10am now, and I need to dash off, as I'm going to the gym - I'm not the keenest of Gym Bunnies today, but I have pledged to go (Dave1961, I hope you heard that), and I'm going! Kicking some kms hopefully for Lizzy's Around the World Challenge.
I'll be back later. Very inspiring posts from people today - really good!
Hi fab 5ers and all! After two weeks stuck at 11.13, at last I've lost 1lb. So 11.12 for me this week. Looks like it's going to be a slow process, but going in the right direction. Also feel better for gradually increasing the exercise. All the best to everyone.
Hi and welcome Malisity, it's great that you've joined us
Thanks for sharing your starting weight and your short and long term goals
You and I are both in for the long haul and I know we're going to do this
I've already lost just over 3st and have another 6 to go, but I've already gone from a size 26 to a size 20/22! I bet that within 3 months, you're going to feel like a different woman
Morning everyone. haven't read all posts but will done on some amazing weight loss.
personally I've maintained this week. i was sure i had gained as I've got a stinking cold and hardly done any exercise. Hoping for a better outcome next week.
Hi there. My first time here as I need the encouragement that is clearly available on your great posts and replies. I am 51 and at 11st 13lbs weigh the most I ever have, even at full term of my four pregnancies ! I put on 8lbs last year despite exercising regularly and think the dreaded menopause is making it even harder to lose weight. At weight watchers 12 years ago I managed to get to ideal weight of 9st 4lbs and stayed there for a couple of years. Slowly, and following another baby, I have weight gained.
I think I would be comfortable at 9st 10lbs so 2st 3lbs to lose, roughly 20% of my body weight.
So here goes. I would like to lose 10% in the first 6 weeks with the first couple of weeks at 3-4lbs as a good kick start using the NHS 12 week plan.
In the past recognising weight gains and losses on a weekly basis kept me focussed so this forum is brill.
Hi and welcome Suzymac, it's great that you've decided to join us
Thanks for sharing your starting weight and your short and long term goals with us
It's really good to set ourselves targets, as long as they're not too ambitious and leave us feeling disappointed with the results we actually get
I don't want to put a dampener on your aspirations, but it took me the whole 12 weeks to lose 10% of my body weight and that was with good weekly losses
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you prove me wrong and smash it on the scales
Hi moreless. Thanks for your reply. Yep you're probably right . In my younger days I could lose 5-6 lbs on the first week of a diet but not any more. I'm hopeful though as I have been eating and drinking pretty much anything I fancied for the last 6 weeks and not seen the gym since before Christmas so fingers crossed.Hopefully some good news next Monday!
Thanks. Since the holidays I'm trying to do lots of outdoors walking, especially in the evening (a couple of hours per day, if poss -- knees permitting).
The further I can remove myself from the fridge and the wine cellar, the better! ☺
Hi lowcal well done on your loss i can be like that and i'm just at the beginning of my journey it must be a lot harder to loss weight when like you you are nearing the end of your journey. Last week i was 15st 13 lb 4oz. Thisweek i am 15st 12lb 2oz good luck to everyone 😁👍👍
Yey well done on your loss lowcal and everyone who has done well this week !!
After a very bumpy week with getting over sickness and then eating out chinese twice arghh I have put on a quarter of a pound but dont feel too worried as I have been totally out of sync with my system!
On a very positive note I have just swam my 20 lenghts and have a brand new pair of scales so feel despite the gain quite chirpy and ready for a better week !!
Hee after last week and being a little too attached to the bathroom I am feeling happy and free again !! Its an amazing feeling when you felt awful and then feel better as normal things feel like a huge delight!
Okay just got to get to grips with this actually losing the weight bizness now as i think I have played with the same pound for a little too long!!
Well done moreless you have done soooooo well this week all that cycling is definitely paying off!!
Thank you moreless I feel like this week I will try harder!! hee but you are really helping with the positive vibe as you seem to have fab motivation !! Yey have a good week hun!!
Just to say that Moreless wanted to reply to your message just now, but she's unable to access the morning session, so she's 'frozen out' - so I just thought I'd let you know that, as she really wanted to reply to you just now.
Don't worry Midnight-Munchie. People can still comment on each other's posts, but I know that Moreless does get frozen out sometimes when it gets larger - and that's why we split the threads - it's definitely helped matters.
Hi. Good luck everyone! I have to say that I weigh exactly the same as two weeks ago, but last week I had gained 3 kilos due to an allergy to medication. I hope that now I will get on track and begin to lose weight. At leat I have the enthusiasm. See you next week.67.4 k is my weight.
Thanks for the encouragement and I teally hope I will start to los weight soon. I'ts difficult sometidos. I like the idea tha someone posted, to take one day at a time. Commit yourself to today. Today I will eat healthy and light. Good idea so as to not feel overwhelmed.
Hi everyone, new to the Monday weigh in. Started the NY at 11st 13.2 aiming to get down to 9 1/2 stone - it's been 5 yrs and 3 babies since I've been anywhere near that though (4yr old and 7 month twins)!
Last Monday weight 11 9.4, this week 11 7 (so 2.4lb lost)
Looking forward to being part of the group to motivate myself x
I have lost exactly 1kg since last week. Last week i was 66.8kg and this morning I was 65.8kg. I am delighted as my aim was to get below 66kg. My strategy seems to be lots of apples, rice cake, and raw vegetables all day, and then just enjoying dinner with the family in the evening.... Oh, and reading the calories on everything so that I know just what I'm putting in my mouth.
once again thanks to everyone on this site. it really helps me to know that I have to post my weight each week and I really like reading all the advice and questions and reflections and positive feedback that everyone gives each other. Thank you!!!
I was 11. 2 last week now 10 13 so thats 3lbs but it seems so little since I've put on a st. I guess its a long slow haul and I need to keep my expectations in check. 😏
Hey! That's a great achievement already in a week jaycoy! You're down out of the 11s into the 10s! 3lb is a lot in a week- realistically, 1-2lb per week is a good steady and sustainable weight loss arising from lifestyle changes rather than unsustainable rapid dieting... but at the start it's great to get a chunk of weight shifted! it's just over 20% of that stone you put on - well done!
Oh my word jaycoy, if you think a 3lb loss is small, prepare yourself for a lot of disappointment
A 3lb loss is fantastic and it's put you into the 10's, which is even more fantastic!
Take some time to read the posts on this thread, to get an idea of what other people are losing, or not losing, so that you can feel the worth of what you've achieved this week
Don't be surprised if next week you lose 1 - 2lbs, because that's normal and healthy
Hi its the first weigh in for me today after joining last week. I am unable to start an exercise regime at the moment, but I was careful about what I was eating and so I am pleased to say I have lost a pound this week. I am happy with that, I hope everyone had a good week, and good luck for the next.
I have had rather a good week. I did quite well on exercise - managed 3 days this week and ate healthy every day apart from a meal out Friday with friends.
Its paid off a bit as i managed to lose 1.2lbs. Not a huge loss, but better than nothing! This now takes me down to 13st 0.8lbs
I'll be happy to get under the 13st again! Fingers crossed for next weeks weigh in. I am hoping to lose around 2lb.
massive well done to everyone whos lost this week- apparently today is the day most people give up on their new years resolutions etc so lets power through today!!
So is started off 11 weeks ago at 92kg
last week I was 81.5kg
this week 80.3kg!! so in a week i have lost 1.2kg which I am over the moon with- it also means I've nearly lost 12kg!!
I am 3kg off my goal weight for my height and 10kg off the weight which I would like to get to!!
I'm so happy and cant thank this group enough for all the help and support- still a long way to go but over half way there
I am over the moon! it hasn't been easy but ive stuck at it and am finally seeing the difference! I have just booked my first wedding dress fitting on the 1st march so we shall see what size i am then- im aiming to be 74kg which will have me well within my healthy BMI weight but we shall see!!
Just hoping my injury continues to improve and doesnt get worse and that would be another blow but we can only take one day at a time!!
It's quite an ask to have lost all the weight by the 1st, but if you go for a dress that's close fitting, it would be perfect when you lose the last couple of kilos
Give your injury plenty of TLC and we'll keep our fingers crossed that you suffer no relapse and it does continue to improve
It's 6kg in 7 weeks and I've been averaging 1kg a week so fingers crossed it'll be gone by then- I'll just wait and see- so much to look forward to- then it's about keeping it off!!
Wow Wood05 we are similar stages although I still need to lose 5.9kg to get off the overweight zone but I started obese at 89kg 19 weeks ago and I am now at 75.9kg! Well done you I have to admit that putting things into perspective does help. I had a bit of a down week but just writing the previous sentence makes me think wow I did come a long way I should not give up now!!
congratulations on your loss that is amazing!!! Im hoping to be at 74kg by 1st march but we shall see- ive upped my exervise a bit recently so hopefully that will help!!
its been a long road and ive been battling an injury and rehab with that but im finally seeing an improvement and that light at the end of the tunnel!
Congratulations Lowcal on your 0.6 pounds loss and for staying positive even though it is not as much as you had hoped for. I love your positivity.
I'am afraid I cannot be as positive today myself. First of all I was weighing 75.9kg this morning which means I have gained 1.6lbs since last week. I did lose 5 lbs last week which was totally awkward, but I was hoping for a maintain, not a gain. I did eat much more yesterday only because I was ill and I was losing my resolve a little bit and also because I was "under budget" on several days this week so I thought I could catch up this weekend but maybe it wasn't such a clever idea. I was not even hungry. I actually ate just because I was looking for comfort :(.
Also I fell off my bike twice this week and I think I injured myself. I fell off on Monday and I was proud of myself cos I went back on it immediately. But I fell off on Friday as well and this time I can feel a bump and I can see I am physically affected as it still hurts where I hit the groud.
So, not so positive this week and this morning I had a breakfast full of added sugar (muesli by Onken) so... not looking good!!! Help!
Great to see you, and thanks so much for your kind words on my 0.6 pound weight loss.
I know you're feeling a bit disappointed with the fact that you've gained 1.6 pounds this week, but in some ways it's not that surprising as you had such a massive drop in weight last week (5 pounds) and it's probably your body settling itself. Also, I'm aware you weren't feeling very well yesterday, so I'm glad that you allowed yourself to eat a bit more, as it's important to ensure you are looking after yourself. Having nutritious meals at all times is important - but particularly when you're not feeling very well. I hope you feel better really soon Nussaybah.
I am particularly concerned to hear you fell off your bike twice during the week, and I really hope that you recover from those knocks very soon. Maybe get yourself checked out, if you're in any doubt about the injuries.
Just put all this behind you now, Nussaybah, and think about having a healthy lunch and dinner for tonight. Please don't let it get you down too much, it's not worth it - and you will be ok providing you put this into perspective and move forward from it.
We're behind you, and you're doing so well. Remember all those lovely comments you've been getting on your progress to date, and to how many people you've inspired to lose weight. You are inspiring, and I only hope you keep inspired yourself - sometimes there are some tough weeks, when things don't go how we want them to go, but it's how we move forward from those weeks that matters.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and hope you recover from your injury and also feel better in yourself very soon. Be kind to yourself, Nussaybah.
Thank you Lowcal for your kind words they really help. Now that I think of it today I had to go buy myself another "black trouser" for work as I just cannot wear mine anymore at all! I had to get another link off my watch at the watchmaker because again it became too loose. This is my second link off since I started this journey.
You're right I need to draw a line and keep going. I am joining the Around the world challenge with Moreless help so that should help too!
You see, all those changes you're noticing - the one less link in your watch, the change in your sizing for your work trousers, all those things point to the great progress you've achieved.
Really well done. I think you'll hopefully love the Around the World Challenge with Moreless and Lizzy, it is really good fun. I'll look forward to seeing you in there also, kicking those kms.
Due to injuries a few years ago I had to stop playing hockey. Since then I have been lazy and the weight has piled on. A few months ago I moved back to lovely Devon to start a new job so decided I could also improve my health too. I've been working out in the gym pretty hard 3-4 times a week since November and I feel much healthier and stronger already - I have to admit, I do love the feeling of exercising again
However, my weight has not changed much since the start and I'm still a right fatty so my diet is the next major problem to fix!! Here's hoping the weekly weigh-ins will help motivate me to avoid the snacks and hit a few more salads...
Current weight is 95.3kg (pretty much 15 stone I think).
You are very welcome, and I'm happy that you've decided to join us for this Monday group weigh-in today. Many thanks for sharing your background with us. I'm sorry to hear about your past injuries and the fact you had to give up playing hockey, that must have been very tough. Good to hear that you've moved to a beautiful county and started a new job - I hope you are settling in well and enjoying life there so far, plus enjoying your new job.
Great that you've been working out in the gym, and that you're feeling much healthier and stronger already. You've clearly been making some great progress on the fitness front.
I hope it felt ok to share your starting weight today - that's often the hardest step, but you've been brave and shared with us, so that's really great. Hopefully that will be your heighest weight from here on in, and you'll be seeing the 14's very soon, and getting down into the lower 90's.
I'd recommend the NHS 12 week plan as a great structure. Let me know if you don't know where to find it, as I can send you a direct link to it.
Using an app like Myfitnesspal is really good too, as it really helps to make the process of tracking calories etc easier.
Wishing you a great first week, and will look forward to catching up with you at next Monday's weigh-in.
Good luck with your weight loss journey, and great that you've joined this Monday group.
Lowcal
Hi Fabulous 5! I am late this morning! I Jojoed this past week and endend luckily with 91.9kg this morning. I had a successful slipping down this week till I ended up drinking a mug full of cream and had a bar of chocolate as well by the end of the week.... crummms, that starvation is so near I can't believe it. My head says no and the elephant says I didn't have enough today, ooops ;-P
Great to see you! You mentioned that you've Yo-yoed a bit this week, but you've ended up with a weight of 91.9kg. Ruth will be able to see how that compares to last week - I'll check back later myself, just to see if I have your last week's figure to compare. Just for the stats.
Please don't feel like you're starving yourself, because you should hopefully aim to eat good nutritious meals, so that you don't end up over-eating on other things. Maybe have a look at your meal plans and decide if you're balancing the meals well - with good nutrition, that is filling and sustaining?
I hope this suggestion is helpful to you, and I wish you a really good week ahead.
The afternoon/evening post is now posted, it's 12.00 midday.
Lowcal
The link is here - if you've already posted in this morning session, you don't need to re-post in the afternoon one, as we will ensure all people above this post will be responded to still - and we're covering both threads to ensure noone is missed.
But any new people seeing this message, then please try to go to the new Afternoon/Evening thread, which is:
Just for future reference, in the afternoon, there is a different thread, called the same title with 'Afternoon/Evening Session' so if you weigh-in next week in the afternoon, then do look out for it.
It's fine that you've added your weigh-in here though (this is officially the 'morning session', but Moreless and I are checking both as this is the first week the thread has been split like this).
Anyway, I'd like to welcome you to this Monday weigh-in group, and say that you are Very Welcome. You started the programme last Wednesday, and you've gained 1 pound - please don't feel bad about that, it can happen sometimes, and don't let it put you off!
We'll count your starting weight as 10 stone 7 pounds, and as you have only started with us today in the weigh-in group, you'll be classified as a new starter anyway, so Ruth will put that on your stats (providing she agrees with this logic of course, she is the stats woman and it's her arena, so we go by her decision on that one!).
I can hear positivity in your post, as you know what you did last week, and how to improve on that this week. Are you using the NHS 12 week plan as your framework? I'd recommend taking a look if you've not seen it, and do let me know if you need help finding it, as I will send you a direct link if you need it. Just let me know by replying to this post.
Thanks lowcal, I'm having a proper read of the 12 week plan. May even print the whole plan off! I will report back weight loss or gain next Monday afternoon!
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is really great! You're well into the 12's now, and achieving a total loss of 6 pounds is fantastic!
Glad you're happy with that, it's a great achievement. Nearly half a stone already!
Just for future reference, if you weigh-in after 12 noon next week, then please look out for the thread which is the 'Afternoon/Evening' thread - you're actually in the 'Morning Session' right now, but I am still checking the threads - as it's our first week trialling a split of the threads. It's due to the site getting glitchy for some people when it gets heavy traffic, so we're trying to put that right by splitting the thread.
You can see the link to the Afternoon/Evening thread at the top of this post - if you want to read how the Afternoon people are doing.
12st4. Rubbish. I was good for start of wk then failed abysmally. Also never did anything for round the world all week. Just work so didnt bother to count. Ill try to be better this week. Ill start writing down everything and get on the treadmill. At the minute im just a stowaway
Great to see you again. Why do you think it's 'rubbish' - I note you're 12 stone 4 pounds today, and I checked your weight last week and it was the same, so you've actually maintained your weight - which in our book is far better than a gain, so I would like to Congratulate you nevertheless for maintaining this week, and not gaining. You lost 2.6 pounds last week, so that was more than average for a week - if you divided that by 2 weeks, it would be an average of 1.3 pounds per week, so please don't be too negative on yourself, it is far from rubbish - I would like you to try to challenge that perspective, as it won't be helpful to you going forward.
I think you're doing well, making good progress.
You've got some plans for this week, including doing some kms for the Around the World Challenge, and also tracking your food intake etc, which are both excellent strategies.
You are far from a stowaway Rcerst.
By the way, please note that there is an Afternoon/Evening thread which started for weighers who are weighing in after midday - so please check which thread you join in next week. We'll still be checking both sessions to ensure we don't miss anyone, but the Fab 5'er team will be working in the Afternoon/Evening thread during the afternoon/evening - so you could face more delay being in the wrong thread.
Lucky I spotted you - pretending to be a 'stowaway' here - when infact you are a star in hiding.
A very warm welcome to you, and thanks for joining us in the Monday group weigh-in thread. You've shared your starting weight, and that is a brave step, so I hope you felt ok doing that. Hopefully this will be the heighest weight you'll be at, and you'll be losing weight from here on forwards - our motto is 'Onwards and Downwards".
You've set your first goal and I'd like to recommend that you look at the NHS 12 week plan as a potential structure to follow - as it has some great advice and is a good framework - like a lifestyle choice rather than a 'diet' - it's really good. If you use an app alongside (e.g. Myfitnesspal or a similar app) it will help your keep track of your food and drink intake, plus exercise etc, then you will be well on track.
You've actually posted in our 'Morning Session' thread - so please bear in mind that there are 2 threads (one for the 'morning' and one for the 'afternoon/evening' - you can take a look at the second thread if you want to see how they're getting on:
I know this is the Morning session thread, but I just want to thank all the morning weighers for their great contributions, and it's an inspiring thread.
I am signing off now as I have to do other stuff tonight, but the rest of the Fab 5'ers team are around and about, and they will be double checking both threads to ensure everyone does get a response. But please try not to post further weigh-ins in this thread, as it is the 'Morning Session' - the Afternoon/Evening session can be linked to using the thread link.
Flossie & Suzybenj, your final comments made me blush - thank you!
My third week of Monday Morning weigh-in. Sorry it is so late to post, but i couldn't open this thread on my phone or tablet - so had to wait until I got home and on my laptop (despite your great efforts to split morning and afternoon).
Last week I was 16st 11lb and today I am 16st 9lb - 2lb off. Not bad, half a stone in a fortnight, but I'm a bit disappointed as I was on for a much bigger loss - until Sunday afternoon when my daughters and husband decided to start baking!! I was really careful and only sampled a tiny bit of each bake
What do you do to turn down calorific gifts? My daughters were so pleased with what they had baked it would have been rude not to try it!
Hi MrsCMH - great that you can join us - I understand what it feels like trying to fit everything in - I also struggle accessing this from my phone during the day. Glad to hear things are going well - 2lbs loss is great - and we're only recommended to lose 1-2lbs a week anyway so more than that would have been a bonus. I think you did well to try a bit of the baking but maintain your discipline and not go overboard. I find a good tactic is to say in advance what you intend to do. E.g. "I can only try a taster of one - which one do you think I should try?" - that way you have to stick to what you've said you'll do. Or the other option is to 'save' your calories so you can have a slice of cake without it harming your hard work the rest of the week. The trick is to learn from each thing like this - which you're doing by asking what you should do in future. Wishing you lots of luck dealing with future 'calorific gifts'!
I did just try a bit of (all 3) daughter's bakes and don't think I did consume a lot of cals, so hoping it was just the sugar and wheat just made me hold water. Also I've not been going to the toilet as frequently as normal (sorry if TMI!). I bet tomorrow morning I'm another 1lb down!! That can count on next week's loss...
I think that was just the right side of TMI! Honestly, we share everything on here. Those little up and down lbs can't really be explained completely - our bodies are so complex - you may be right about water retention, toilet visits, or it could be something else even...
You get more information by weighing more frequently, but it may not be information that you can necessarily interpret. The longer term picture is what counts. And, honestly, a 2lb loss is amazing. I had so many weeks where I only lost 1lb, or stayed the same, or even the odd small gain, but I still achieved my goal at the end of it all.
At the end of the day if you had a little bite of your daughters' cakes and managed to still stay in control, then you're living life normally AND losing weight at the same time - which is surely living the dream!
Hello fellow losers my first weigh in was last week at 9st 13lbs. tonight i am 9st 12lbs. One pound, whoopee... i did not keep up with my own goals i set for the last week. i exercised about 1/3 of what i had intended. the reason - laziness. i'm still feeling positive though and will keep pushing. i always feel happier after exercise. overall, generally in very good form. so many benefits to moving
Hi Emielou- a pound loss is perfectly respectable. Its a funny old thing exercise - I often spend far too long procrastinating - rather than just getting on with it.....but always feel good afterwards
Hi! I couldn't find this thread yesterday!! Not tht I have good news to report. I put on 0.2kg. From 66.4 to 66.6 kg...boo hoo.. this thread is very slow, taking a long time to type..
Hi Hasna2015 - well done for positing anyway . Assume you are checking out strategies to go back the other way next week. We all have blips = its how we move fwd that is important.
Due to volume of posts and folk not being able to post - lowcal has split the post into a morning and an afternoon post - look out for that next week - it will make it easier ( and less frustrating to post).
Good luck for next week - onwards and downwards
Sorry for being late but I wanted to post. I have been on holiday for two weeks so generally a bit absent. I do find this helps me focus, so am posting today. I had put on about 4 or 5 lbs over December/Xmas and was feeling quite worried. Oddly, being away I became more active than I have been in years (decades?!) and have come back and weighed in on Monday at 11 st 10 lbs (the lowest I have been on this round) and hit 11st 8 lbs this morning. I am not sure this is 'real' as I had a slightly upset system for bits of the holiday and wonder if some of this reflects that. However, I am feeling re-motivated about this and set myself a target of 11 st 7 for end of the month but I think I better make that 11 st 4 and see where I get to. I am keen to get to 10 st 10 by my birthday mid April which is the BMI etc healthy weight for my height. If things go well, I may get there before then, in which case I will re-evaluate how far I want/need to go. I do think my knees/other joints would be much happier with less to support.
well done on sheading those xmas pounds! The healthy you is not minding the gain non dieters gain and lose again just like you - I hope you meet your end of month goals and look forward to hearing about your progress next week
That's fantastic Kizzie, but unfortunately you've posted on an old thread. I shall copy and paste you in today's thread
For future reference, if you "follow" Lowcal, you'll be notified when she posts the thread. Failing that go to her profile page and the current thread will be top of the list of threads
