This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing there:
To all you Afternoon and/or Evening Monday Group weighers - I wish you an enjoyable weigh-in. One of the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and myself, Lowcal) will ensure we respond to you. But please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments and might not be able to reply straight away. By the end of the day, everyone will have received a response from one or more of us.
I have done the stats this week, and it also helped to motivate me for the week ahead, as they are really inspiring:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 106.
Total overall weight lost: 126.6 pounds (57.6 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 76 (145.35 pounds lost) (66.1 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 13 (18.75 pounds gained) (8.5 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 14.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 12.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 3.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated). The link to the latest Monday group weigh-in thread is always in the ‘Events’ section (right-hand-side of the home-page) so it’s easy to find it once you know where to look!
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless. The other Challenges taking place in the forum currently are also in the Pinned Posts section too.
Regarding my own weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 13 stone 0.4 pounds, and today I weigh: 13 stone 0.8 pounds, so I’ve gained 0.4 pound this week. It was my ‘time of the month’, and I didn't get to the gym, and I didn't manage to do any Strength exercises either - I just couldn’t motivate myself, despite pledging on Asic’s Daily Pledge posts, and despite Ruth_Canal_Runner’s encouragement. However, I did keep up with my steps/walking, (for the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Challenge (FizzyLis’z Challenge) so I feel good about that. I'll be looking out for that post tomorrow, to contribute my Kms. (If you haven't seen the many Challenges taking place in the forum yet, then look at the Pinned Posts, which are in the top right-hand-side of the homepage for details).
I have also thought about how to cope with Easter, and the fact that I’d like to be 12 stone 12 pounds by Easter Monday, which is my goal for Sueper’s Easter Bunny Challenge. Hence my goal for this week is to lose 2.8 pounds. I hope to get to the gym at least 2 times, and I'm pleased to report that I've managed to get there this morning (so only 1 more session to do, and others will be bonuses) and do some strength exercises on 6 out of 7 days (Ruth_Canal_Runner's March Strength Challenge) too. So hopefully it will be a much better week! There are some really inspiring posts today, and here's to the Afternoon/Evening session going well too. This week should be a good one! ☺
For those of you celebrating Easter - don't let it scupper you! Have a plan of action! Those chocolate bunnies, eggs and festive sugary cakes are all out there - but you can hopefully get through with 'damage limitation' (using a great phrase from Suzybenj today), very good tactical phrase! Try not to be lead astray from your plan, and stick with it.
Onwards and downwards – let’s keep motivating one another, we can do this!!! ☺

I am going to have some lunch now, but I'll be back later, so please do keep posting here for the Afternoon/Evening weigh-in.
Lowcal
Well that's week 1 over with for me. A 4lb loss, taking me to 15 st 6lb. It always comes off quite quickly at the start, so I need to be careful not to slip in to old habits like I so often do.
Keep logging on to prevent that slip back into old habits. The more you read inspirational and motivational posts, the more you'll want to achieve and the less likely you are to fall off the band wagon
Well done everyone, losers/gainers/maintainers alike and welcome to the new members.
Lowcal, I am sure you will reach your goal by next Monday, sounds like this week's tiny gain was just temporary and it will be gone soon.
I am dancing a happy jig because I am now in WONDERLAND! What is wonderland, I hear you ask? It is ONEderland or 1derland, my weight in lbs now starts with a number one and not a 2, yay!
I lost 1.1kg (2.43lbs) this week and I am one pound shy of having lost a whole 5 stone. Hopefully I will make that next week. I am also 2lbs shy of being in the 13s - THE THIRTEENS. Soon, baby, soon...
I know, it is weird, the weight should be falling off, the amount you are doing. All I can think is that you are converting fat to muscle, which is a good thing in the long run as your metabolism will benefit - and you are seeing inches lost, so something is happening.
I'm trying to cure my obsession with numbers and focus on the positivity of my changing shape. I've never done it this way before, so it's a learning curve for me
Need to renam to "NotSoMuchtoLose 😜the 5 st crown is 'weighting' for you will dig it out the cupboard for next week, hang on I think it's still on Moreless desk😆
Wow, this is good news indeed, I've just got back from my lunch, and it's fantastic to hear that Catriona has had such a great start - 4 pounds lost, and that LottoLose is 1 pound shy of 5 stone total loss, and nearly into the 13's - wow!!!!!!!
I am also joining you all in a Happy Jig - great that you started that Anon-E-Mouse.
Thanks Lowcal, it is amazing to think that last August I was at my heaviest ever and felt very depressed and hopeless and now I am nearly in the 13s. (I try not to think about how far I still have to go and these mini-goals really help)
Thanks Nonsuch - it is the only way I can cope and to not get overwhelmed by the huge amount I have to lose, even after losing so much already.
Hi I haven't been very motivated the last two weeks and have gained 1.75lb. Had a terrible monthly and quite a crisis to deal with. Fortunately the crisis is just about sorted. Hope to maintain over next couple of weeks and try again after the Easter Break.
I am so sorry that you have had to deal with a crisis, and that you had your 'monthly' to deal with alongside that. I am relieved to hear that you've managed to just about sort out the crisis. I am sure it has taken its toll on you, and that the stress of it all has contributed to your gain of 1.75 pounds. I think you're very sensible not to put too much pressure on yourself currently, and your goal of maintaining over the Easter break is a good strategy, and I hope you have a lovely Easter.
1.20pm Just to update you all that I have heard back from Vesa from Healthunlocked who has reassured me that the Tech people are already aware of the issue with our 'like boxes' disappearing, and that they are working to resolve this for us as soon as they can. She didn't give a time scale, but the good thing is that they are aware of the issue and they are hoping to resolve it for us in due course. So that will be good.
Thanks! Not doing much exercise can't seem to find the time to get out for long walks. I have to really clean my place or rather spring clean. Plus get on with knitting my son a tank top.
I am eating much healthier as I am determined to get rid of my Thrush.
Actually just remembered yesterday I was out all day walking as I went shopping .
One of your posts is in the recipe thread - have you seen it? Here's a link incase you've not seen it yet - it was the thread you started about salads. Really inspired some good ideas:
A maintain this week - was away 3 days last week, and took a bit too much advantage of company expenses (don't NEED 3 courses, but if work is paying the bill...)
Hi, hope everyone has had a good week. Is it finally warming up here in the UK?
I have now hit 15 stone (95.25k) (edit: 2lbs loss this week) which is 7lbs less than when I started two weeks ago. No change to my measurements though, but I have been house-bound with cold/cough which went on too long.
moreless sorry! forgot in my excitement. I have lost 2lbs this last week. Yes, hoping that a bit more exercise will help. I did 40 minutes walking before post-viral tiredness kicked in,but did come home to some compulsory housework, so I guess it adds up.
I have noted your 2 pounds lost this week, as I realise you did weigh-in last week, so your previous weight loss was noted in last week's stats. So all your pounds lost have contributed to great losses for the stats, as well as most importantly for yourself! Well done!
Yes, I think it's warming up a bit finally - here's hoping we have lovely weather for the Easter weekend.
Wow, you've done really well to lose half a stone over 2 weeks, so that averages to 3.5 pounds per week, which is what I'll put forward for the stats. I think Ruth_Canal_Runner is doing them this week, and I like to put the amount so she can easily take note of it.
Hope your cough/cold will go away soon, so you can enjoy being out and about again, there are lots of bugs around at the moment!
Hopefully you'll be enjoying being in the 14's this time next week, if not before!!!
Lowcal you are so positive, you will soon lose that little gain, it's only a small blip.
This week I have lost one pound exactly, going from 10st 9.8 last week to 10st 8.8 this week. Dancing that jig with LTL probably helped, in retrospect I should have put on my pedometer before and not after dancing 😀😀
Also pleased that I'm on target for the Easter Bunny Challenge finishing next Sunday 😀😀😀.
Well done to everyone posting morning and afternoon who are maintaining, losing, not giving up (which is really hard when things don't go right) or newly joining us here. May your inches, weight and hearts get lighter 😀😀😀
Well, I've still got a chesty cough lingering from the cold I'd have for over 3 weeks so have had to cut out the workouts. My appetite's been a bit rubbish though so my weight's still OK - at 52.3 kg compared with 52.4 last week. Quite surprising considering I slept all Thursday afternoon, all night Thursday, most of Friday then all through Friday night. I never knew I could sleep that much So I'm happy I'm still maintaining. hoping to be well enough for Zumba on Thursday but not counting on it.
i was going to try my hand at a lower calorie simnel cake to treat the family at Easter, but that depends whether I have the energy ...
I was going to wish you a quick recovery, but my mind has gone straight to the simnel cake instead. Let us know how a healthier version turns out. (and yes, get well soon!)
Sorry to say weight loss this week was only half a pound. I am a little disappointed although I know a loss is a loss. I worked really hard to keep within my calories for the day and some days even went under a bit. I did a long walk yesterday to up my steps and managed nearly 10000. I guess I need to up the exercise and hope for a bigger number next week. I also guess I need to be patient (difficult for me) but half a pound did not seem much for the effort I have put in. Good luck to everyone else weighing in today.
Imagine that half pound on a plate represented as lard or butter, and then you can see what great progress it is to have lost 0.5 pound - Congratulations!!!
I would recommend eating up to the calorie range rather than under it, because you are being active, and the range is there for a reason. Clearly if you were feeling completely satisfied, then it wouldn't be necessary to eat up to it, but I would personally go for nutrients and ensuring you're eating sufficient for your body's needs.
Well done for your long walk, and please don't worry too much about the amount lost on the scales - losing gradually is really good, and often exercise tones our bodies and doing more exercise can result in some extra weight for a while, but you've lost 0.5 pound, and that's great!
Hope you have another really good week ahead. I think you're making great progress.
Thanks so much for reply. If I think of it as a block of butter on a plate I do feel better. I do sometimes feel hungry after dinner but even if I have a 100 or so calories left I do not like to eat then as I think I won't have time for my body to use the calories before I go to bed. I also think I may save some up in case I need extra for the weekend. What would you suggest? Is it best to make sure I have eaten all the calories by day/week?
I think go with whatever works better for you. I would be tempted personally to save a few extra for another day - as there are often occasions when we might want to splurge slightly, and essentially over the week you can average it all out. But I think it's quite personal - I was only concerned incase you were regularly eating less than your recommended calorie range, as it's important to eat sufficient nutrients for your daily activities, and the BMI calculator that gives the range of calories does take into account your personal details and activity levels. Hope that makes sense.
Yes makes sense thanks. I have read about the body going into starvation mode if you eat too few calories so maybe I need to make sure I eat most of the calories each day. I guess I will give it a go and see what the scales say next week. Thanks again.
I don't know enough about the 'starvation mode' things, but I think you'd have to be on very low calories to get anywhere near that mode.
I was essentially suggesting ensuring that you feed your body the nutrients it needs, and I just remember from years and years ago when I used to attend Weight Watcher's meetings that they always advocated 'eating all the points' because otherwise weight loss didn't necessarily happen, and I found that this was indeed the case, hence I tend to ensure I eat sufficient calories and never under-eat.
Thinking about it I don't always work out my points in the morning hence why I sometimes have some left after dinner. Maybe I should work out all 3 meals and then I can fit in extra earlier during the day. Its daft for me to not eat enough and for that to stop weight loss. Thanks for your advice
Well done on losing half a pound and for sticking with it, some people have consistent losses each week, but some have fits and starts, hopefully you will be rewarded for your efforts next week!
Thanks LotToLose. Have just made myself walk to the postbox and back (would normally have driven). Need cup of tea now but feel good for doing the walk. Fingers crossed for next week.
Afternoon, your pep talk certainly helped me last week. Since my cough/cold through January, I've been demotivated. Every time I went to eat sugary stuff last week, I imagined myself as a blue m&m on teeny legs!! I allowed myself 25g sugar each day. While I went over some days, I achieved 3 days at 20g and today is day 7 and I'm only on 11g currently with no temptations anywhere So I am getting my mind in gear which is wonderful thank you. Eddie the pony and I have run lots this week, we're upping our distances each week so we're now onto 3 miles, walking and running. He's looking well trim and I've lost 0.8 pound. I wanted to post a piccy of us running cos he's so cute, but I failed. I'm away this weekend and not near a pc until next Wednesday, so I will use those days next week to lose any naughty rose-wine pounds!! I need to imagine me as a rose wine bottle on little legs to persuade me to be a good girl then Onwards and downwards!
I am so glad that visual aid of the M&M on teeny legs helped! You have made great progress at keeping your sugar intake down, and surviving undue temptations - you're getting your mind in gear, and that's so great! Well done!!!
Great that you and Eddie have been enjoying lots of runs this week, and coping with upping your distances. Congratulations to you for losing 0.8 pound this week, and it's great that Eddie is also looking trim!
What a pity your attempt to post the piccie failed - maybe try again another time, it would be so lovely to see both of you!
Hope you have a good weekend, and please do pop in to post your weight on the Wednesday next week, if that's better for you - as I know you don't have access to a pc till then - alternatively wait till the following Monday, whichever is better for you!
Suzie54 has had difficulty posting here today, so I'm copying and pasting her result here:

"Hi. I've been trying to post in the weigh in morning thread all morning on both my iPhone & laptop but with out success. So before I throw both out of the window I'm hoping if I post here some kind person might be able to put it in the thread. 😊 I have lost 1 pound since last Monday. Was disappointed but then thought I have been a bit hit & miss. So this next week I'm hoping for 2 pounds. This is my first weigh in
Thank you"
I have already replied to her in the other post, so I won't repeat my reply - as she will hopefully have read it already.
Wow, this is great news that you've lost 3 pounds this week. Congratulations!!! I really hope you'll be celebrating being in the 12's next week, and I hope I can join you in that celebration as I am also hoping to get there too!!!
Here's to the 12's for us both next week, all being well.
I'm starting the plan today, going well and well within my calorie limit (though maybe a couple too many biscuits ... will do better tomorrow!) I've lost 3.5 pounds prior to starting the plan.
Original weight was 17st 7lb
Today's (starting) weight was 17st 3.5lb
My short term goal is to get to 17st 0lb as it'll bring me out of the morbidly obese category but my GP has told me to aim for between 9st and 10st as a final goal so in it for the long haul!. If I could reach 17st in the 12 week plan I'd be ecstatic as haven't managed to weigh that little in nearly a year!
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in, and thanks for sharing your starting weight with us today. I hope that felt ok to do that, as I realise it's a big step the first time you declare it 'publicly' so to speak, but we've all been there, and hopefully it felt ok.
Great that you're starting the NHS 12 week plan today, and that your first day is going well so far. Congratulations on already having lost 3.5 pounds piror to starting the plan. We'll put you down as a 'Newbie' for the stats, but keep a tally of your total weight loss, as that can be really motivating. I would also recommend taking your body measurements, as we find that some weeks the scales don't necessarily budge, and it's on those occasions when being able to compare body measurements can really help to motivate and know that it's not all about the scales, but is how your body looks and feels and the fit of your clothes etc.
Great that you've set yourself in interim mini-goal, that is really sensible.
Do have a look at our Pinned posts (right-hand-side of the homepage) as there are some really useful posts there - and we'll look forward to seeing you at future weigh-ins, as well as out and about in the forum.
It's terrific that you've joined us today and that you've shared your starting weight and goals with us
Well done for already losing 3.5lbs, that's a terrific start, you only have to do the same again to hit your first target
I don't know if you've read our newbie post, or not, but it is worth a read and we have several challenges running currently. These threads can all be found in the pinned posts section, to the right of your screen
When you say you did not have a good weekend - do you mean you had too good a weekend??
It happens to us all - concentrate on the overall downward trend. Put the weekend behind you and get back on the weight loss wagon for this next week. Although there is Easter....I am already planning is advance to minimise the damage:-).
Good luck for next week - if not a loss aim for a maintain
No worries. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend. I have just binned all the non-healthy leftovers (including tonight's takeaway) so I can start with a fresh head tomorrow.
It's hard isn't it comfort eating? at least you have recognised the signs, it's much easier to think of a strategy when your head is in a good place. Give it some thought this week and let us know how you get on have a good week😇
Feeling a little frustrated and deflated as I now weigh in at 15st 13 - which means I am up 2lbs on last week. The frustration is I have been very diligent and have been enjoying my healthier options yet very much surprised the weight has increased. I have been using MyFitnessPal app to record my daily calories - which according to the NHS Calorie App would be (for my age/height etc) approx 1765 calories a day if I did absolutely nothing but sit around. That seemed too high for me and so I set myself a target of 1600 per day and as I also walk my dogs daily for approx 45mins - 1hr and that three days a week I work as a cook (on my feet, rushing around for 7hrs non-stop) I don't even fall into the 'sit around' category. Well I have stayed on target for calories (not even eating back 'earned' ones from exercise); I have tried to make sure I have a good carb/fats/protein balance and am filling up on veg. And yet here I am ...moaning about something that seems impossible as we all know that if you expend more calories than you take in, you should lose weight. *sniff* What am I doing wrong?? I haven't even had an indulgences because as I mentioned in an earlier post I don't have a particularly sweet tooth and I am thoroughly enjoying my healthy options. Any ideas anyone?
However, despite much irritatation, annoyance and frustration - I will not be beaten. So onwards and downwards and fingers crossed for next week
Lilybob - welcome to the world of some of us dieters - when the scales just do not co-operate. I have done my own fair share of foot stamping and rage at the 'unfairness of it all.
You sound like you have taken yourself in hand and are doing all the right things - as an ex-cook - I know how tempting the kitchen can be.
Sometimes it does take quite a sustained effort for our bodies to recognise you really mean it and you do want to lose weight. My other suggestion is also record your measurements on My fitness pal - and re-do once a month - sometimes they show a shift even when the scales are glaring back at you. Lastly have you checked your portion control- sometimes inadvertently we load more on our plates than we think. I have taken in the past to weighing things just to check. but in essence you are right - calorie restriction - lots of fresh veg...etc..
Remember it could just be blip....Good luck for next week
Thanks suzybenj...I am hopeful it is indeed just a blip 😁. I must admit that I don't portion control my veg or salad as I kinda thought that would be OK. I am a weekday vegetarian so often have platefuls of the good stuff but am careful to measure any extras...cheese or low cal dressings. However, I am not so diligent with weighing carbs so will make sure I weigh out my rice or pasta next week! 😄
Hi again...I did have my original measurements in MyFitnessPal and so remeasured tonight. More weirdness!!! I have lost 1 cm off my neck, and my thigh and my upper arm and 1.5cm off my hips. But I have increased by 2cm round my waist and 1cm to my calf. My husband has been in charge of the measuring to make sure it is accurate and he has deduced I am in fact an alien
LOL. LOL. LOL ... Glad to hear little green ones are welcome too and you made me laugh: and laughing burns roughly between 1 - 4 calories a minute so that's a good thing 😂😂
I'm doing the stats just now, and this conversation has made me laugh quite a bit - I did wonder last week what you meant by 'little green ones' and now I completely understand.
Hello everyone I am very annoyed with myself today as I had a perfect Monday - Friday last week but at a girls night on Saturday I had a Chinese takeaway and then I went out for dinner yesterday (and had dessert) which has resulted in a 0.5lb gain. It's so frustrating because I'm sure if I had weighed myself on Friday, I would have lost weight but I guess that is why weigh ins are on Mondays! So last week my weight was 14st 10.25lbs and this week it is 14st 10.75lbs.
I haven't done any pledges yet but I will start today and I pledge to have a good week (including weekend) this week. With regards to Easter, I have already made sure that I am only getting one Easter Egg for Easter and I pledge to share at least half of it with someone else. Hopefully this will help! (I know I really shouldn't have any but I did give up chocolate for lent and I have not broken at all)!
PP89 - your week sounds like mine Really good week - (and i had lost weight by Friday) then blew it all at the weekend- on exactly the same weekend diet plan as you
Chinese - always makes me gain - rice and salt....
As for roast dinners - I have had not had one since xmas ( a sacrifice i made to lose weight) . And then lost my head yesterday -and like you my scales did not cooperate this morning
Half pound gain will be lost very quickly if you follow your M-F plan. I am already looking at next weekend with damage limitation in mind.
I have made myself do a public challenge this eve - in effort to curb my excesses. So pledge away
Pp, no food should be forbidden, just moderation and you seem to have a handle on that. Small gains are okay we have to live life just don't think of it as a diet but a way of life with no expiration date 😬
I volunteer to share the egg with you (I never usually have one, sniff)!
That tiny weight gain will be gone in no time, it is a small price to pay for what sounds like a lovely weekend.
Well, I wasn't going to post because I've gained 2.5 pounds and I was feeling down; then I thought everyone else is honest so I better be! With myself at least. Had a big Sunday lunch/dinner yesterday so hoping that at least part of the gain will drop off fairly quickly. However I think I have generally been over-indulging. I really couldn't stop myself last week which was odd as I've been feeling very motivated about it all. Anyway, just waiting for the washing machine to finish to empty then off for a quick swim which will hopefully shift a few calories!
Frankie53 - sometimes are hearts are just not in the game. But you know where all the extra creepage comes from ----just sometimes hard to resist In general my philosophy - is there is no point regretting what is done - so move fwd with new resolve. (TBH I am a bit flakey on that one )
So you are going for a swim - lovely - and a re-boot for the week
Hi guys, I haven't been doing v well at all. I have actually put on 2lbs again! I'm going crazy, making stupid food choices and it's all gong wrong. Ever since I've joined I've actually lost 2lbs after several weeks and then gained since then.
I've decided I need to make some big changes. I have bought the lean in 15 min book by Jo wicks and hope to make 3 meals next week and also do walks 3 times a week. failing that I will go for the plan 90 day ss. Has anyone tried it?
Not sure what Ss is? Have you tried calorie counting it's amazing sometimes how many calories are in 'healthy' things salad dressings are a big one, by all means do a short term plan plan, but remember this a long - lifetime plan😄
I did my swim and thought I'd have some squash..... wow! That's calorie heavy! Had no idea. Basically if you want a long drink, I think it's going to have to be water from now on.
Adheela-----I suppose anything that helps to motivate us is a good thing. Lean in seems to have had good reviews. Don't know about 90 day SS - but that is 3 months which I would find daunting.
Whenever I get in a tizz about where I am and yo yoing up and down - I go back to basics. NHS plan - all about lifestyle change and sensible eating and a bit of exercise thrown in. Most of us have blips and trips along the way- it is how we get back on the wagon that counts and what we can sustain in the long term
....Maybe aim to just take things in hand this week - have you looked at food tracking on my fitness pal - this can be quite illuminating. Hopefully a loss - but aim for at least maintain - Easter is afterall challenging.
Hope your re-boot goes well and good luck for next week
Hello! I am a newbie (joined this weekend) and am not quite ready to disclose my starting weight just yet, but congrats to everyone on their journey, despite tour gains/loses, your determination and perseverance is inspiring - good luck and hope you have a great day!
Good evening and a warm welcome, don't disclose your weight to us but do weigh in for yourself, it's very important to weigh in regularly otherwise the weight will own you, it can be quite liberating on here cos no one can see you and we don't judge see hoe you feel next week, but.check in anyway and have a good week!
Thank you so much! Yes I will update next week (my second weigh in). I was never into the weighing thing but understand how it can be motivating to see the numbers change. The community on here are so lovely and kind, it feels nice to have support and no judgement! Hope you have a lovely week, too! 😄
TLTD i say this as I lost weight I lost weight twice before 2003 5st, put back on 3 so ws 15.5 stone by 2009 lost 2-2.5 stone in 2010 so back to 14.5 stone I had got down to target by sept 2013, BMI-25 and I am still around that weight got to 10.6 but it I don't think is my ideal. I have kept the weight off by owning it I weigh in every single week, if I don't Lowcal comes after me with her big stick! So this is why I am so insistent about weighing in good or bad there was a couple of weeks ago every fab fiver had put weight on😳 It doesn't matter I want you to be in a place where you aren't scared of or don't mind the numbers🤗
Thank you so much for putting into perspective! In society today there is so much emphasis on the numbers on the scale that it seems such a scary thing to acknowledge and I agree that it shouldn't be that way. I hope to be less and less scared of weighing myself every week and I totally agree with you, it shouldn't be scary!
Hi,
I'm new, I'm currently trying to lose 1 1/2 stone.
I had a baby in October and managed to lose 2 stone by myself, but I've got in a bit of a rut and I've been maintaining for the last month.
I'm a full time mum to 4 young kids, so I'm always on the go. I don't smoke or drink alcohol. I drink loads of water and eat loads of fruit and veg, o enjoy cooking and eat a varied diet; but my weakness is sweet stuff. I can't resist biscuits or cakes or chocolate.
I'm 5" 5 and weigh exactly 11 stone. I was 10 stone 10lb before I got pregnant so within the healthy weight range, but only just. I don't look fat, but I want to lose the weight from a health point of view and it's advised me to be somewhere in the middle, which means I need to be about 9 1/2 stone. I think it's cos now I've got to the point where all my pre pregnancy clothes fit me again, I'm not really making so much effort.
I do have some goals though.
I'd like to lose a stone in the next 2 months and I've come on here for some support and encouragement.
I think the weekly weigh in is a great idea. I'm hoping this will give me more incentive.
I would also like to add that 3 years ago I weighed 14 stone, so anything is possible and I know I can do this, I'm just being weak lol
I've been reading loads on here, you're all very inspirational people and good luck to you all.
Isou7000- sounds like you have a lot on your plate- but also that you can be very disciplined. Reading your post I would consider the following:
Instead of resisting the sweet stuff - count them in as part of your calorie intake. I tend to like something sweet at lunchtime and at 5pm. Usually banana and blueberries. Or when needs must - 2 x rich tea biscuits, garabaldi or Jaffa cakes. Liquorice Catherine wheels only 47 a whirl:-). Rather than resist build in a buffer of inclusion rather than deprivation.
Move more - I know you are already busy - but can you build in some toning exercise - such as one of the the numerous 30 day challenges (plank, squats, press ups ). If you do go down this line - track your measurements on My fitness pal.. If the scales don't move -it can be quite pleasing to a good result from reduction in our waist line.
Check out NHS choices live well (pinned post) I look at this when I need a re-boot.
Lastly check out marmite rehoming's 4 July challenge:-). Posted here today I think.
Thanks for checking in -you will find lots of support here.
This week has not been good. I have not been able to walk as much due to my back pain. All my meds have been doubled in strength but no difference so far. Also I have put 2 lbs on. So not feeling so good with myself.
11.15pm Night night everyone, I am going to sleep - it's been a really great day - and evening too - lots of inspiring posts, and well done to everyone. Thanks to the Fab 5'ers team, some great work.
I think most of the Fab 5'ers may be sleeping now, but we will check in tomorrow morning for any late night weighers, or early morning ones - so rest assured you will receive a reply at some point.
This week I can't manage my food routine and have taken many calories .i have pain in neck and going for fezeothropy from my GP for ten days,I will try to loose 0.5 in this week.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, that is much better than gaining, and it means you kept off the 0.5 kg you lost last week, so really well done!!!
I am so sorry to hear you've got some neck pain, and I hope the therapy from your GP will be beneficial for that. Good luck with your goal for this week.
Not functioning correctly this week as starting a head cold 😕 Shd have reported yesterday that I had lost 1 lb! Yay 😆 About time 😏. Hopefully my cold won't scupper that loss.
Sorry to hear you're starting a head cold, there are a lot of bugs around this time of year. Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week though, that is great news! I hope your cold won't scupper that loss, and that you feel better really soon. Have a great week ahead.
No, you are not too late, it's great to see you! Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is fantastic!!!
You're definitely getting there, and making excellent progress.
Wishing you another great week ahead.

Bad Week Work, shifts daughters birthday weekend and Excusitis. stayed the same by a miracle but have not been online and exercise sadly lacking. Back on track this week : (
Sorry to hear you've had a bad week at work, and that 'Excusitis' sounds painful Hope you enjoyed your daughter's Birthday weekend, and that it all went well. I think you've done really well to maintain in those circumstances.
Great to hear you'll be back on track this week, as that should hopefully mean you'll have a great week ahead.
Hi flavvy- sometimes things really do conspire against us- in that context I think maintain is excellent. Put last week behind you and concentrate on this week.
A morning gain of 1lb on for me - despite running a half marathon basically no classes for me last week but drank and ate the same. I can barely move let alone exersise this week so will try and watch those calories but it is my birthday tomorrow so we will see
I knew last week's loss of 6lbs would be too good to be true 😏 this week I have put on a pound and gone up to 10st 0.75lbs . But that's ok. I think I eased up a bit on my exercise but now I'm back at work, I can get into a good routine again 😊 Hope everyone else has had a good week.😊😊
sorry for not being on recently been working two jobs at the moment and really busy on Mondays
I am still 13:9, I gained 3 lbs a from a few weeks ago when in Poland, I've not been dieting since so to have not gained dramatically, but not lost so going to half try this week, to get me set for starting properly next week, the aim is to be 12:7 for the end of April so i really need to get in gear! lol
also it hasn't helped that for the last 3 weeks ive been working two jobs and trying to set up my own business
also a as a side note its still super slow typing on this post.
Great to see you, and thanks for your encouragement regarding the Easter goal. I will do my best to reach it!
Well done for maintaining your weight this week, it's much better than a gain. Good luck with your plans for this week. Sounds like a good plan.
You are extremely busy at the moment, so don't be too hard on yourself, and try to pace yourself - I'm sure it must feel very tough handling all of those commitments.
Sorry to hear it's going 'slow' re: the typing too - hope that improves! I don't seem to be having any difficulty today - or yesterday, but I think it varies for different people.
I managed to get some batteries and weighed in this morning at 83.1. So a maintain really. 0.1 kg down from last week. A bit annoyed compared to my mid week weigh in that was indicating a good loss of almost 1.5 kg, but a weekend in London indulging on nice food had it's effect... oh well, lets hope for a better result next week.
I've calculated your loss in pounds as 0.22. I don't know if Lowcal will put that in the stats, or say that you've maintained, but I'm sure she'll let you know
I think managing to maintain with an indulgent weekend in London is a terrific result! I'd probably have gained half a stone!
Here's to next monday showing a much more impressive loss
Great to see you, and you have your batteries now - Congratulations on losing 0.1 kg from last week, that is great! I know you had lost more mid-week, but a weekend in London is typically indulgent for most of us, so I can understand you gained a little back, but really well done for having a loss.
I managed to lose 0.5kgs this week. Not bad for my first week.
I have realised my portion sizes have been all wrong. I thought I was eating healthily, which I was, except my portion equated to 3 portions (porridge).
Oh great! You made it over, and it's great to see you!!!
As I said in the other thread, your result of 0.5 kg is great, really well done! Portion sizes can be quite an eye-opener can't they, and it's great that you're adjusting them accordingly.
Glad you've enjoyed the week, and that you're learning plenty of new things to help with your weight loss journey.
Wishing you another great week ahead.

Hi Everyone My name is Princesa and I weigh 286 lbs at 5'11 height. I am joining this site to find all the help I can get with losing weight. I want to lose weight because I know that if I continue to increase in weight I will either die or have a chronic illness. Please pray for me and thanks for inviting me to the group.
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in session, and I'm glad you have join us! You will be counted as a new starter as of today, so please do join in again on Easter Monday (couple of days time) as well, because there will be lots of people popping in that day, all being well, and they'll read your post - it's always busy on Mondays, as that's the day everyone is around to weigh-in at some point.
You've shared your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. Most of us are following the NHS 12 week plan, so do have a look at that to see if you might like it too - it is a good structure and is really good.
Wishing you a great weekend, and Happy Easter! Wishing you success with your weight loss goals, and hope you enjoy being part of our group. It can also help to take body measurements, so you can compare those on the weeks when the scales don't necessarily move! There are weeks like that, and it's those occasions when seeing changes in your body measurements can be very motivating.
Thank you for the invite and yes I felt comfortable sharing I live the 12 week plan but my inconsistency habit ruins me. I'm working on being more consistent. Thanks for helping me.
Yes, Hidden is right, a stone is 14 pounds. Feel free to use whichever weight range you prefer in your replies, as we convert it for the stats and use both stones and pounds, and also kilograms.
Hiya, late, late check in, busy sorting out various bits and pieces this week! Been a real up and down week...been out several times on my own which is an achievement for me, but burst into tears later in the day!!! Got over the anxiety and finally went to get my hair cut for the first time in two years, and managed to hobble home from the hairdresser instead of ringing hubby to collect me in the car. So a few positives there, but I still put on a pound this week, dad had a big birthday, and there was cake, and a pasty - eek! I'll be checking in on Monday again (all things being well). No treats bought for Easter this year, although there is a box of orange matchmakers sitting there from a while back...I know 5 of them is 100 cal so it's all good, I know how to have them as a treat without messing things up. I'm looking forward to a couple of normal months with no birthdays, mother's day, Easter, etc tbh...can't wait to be going along normally without any foodie occasions!
Great to see you! Well done for getting out and about this week on your own, and for coping so well - brilliant that you had your hair cut, and hope you like the result, and really good that you got back independently too. You've faced a lot, and you've achieved it.
Understandable that you gained 1 pound with your Dad's big birthday. There is often cake at such occasions, and I hope you enjoyed celebrating with him. Wow, a pasty too - I've not had one of those for years - they are tasty!
Great that you don't have many Easter treats to contend with, and you're in control of the Matchmaker's situation! So it's all good!
Good that there'll be a bit of a respite from further celebratory occasions, and routine can be re-established!
Enjoy the Easter weekend, and I will look forward to catching up with you on Easter Monday - not long now! Enjoy Saturday and Sunday in the meantime.
