If you join us for this Monday group weigh-in then myself (Lowcal) and the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and LotToLose) will reply to you. However, please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments, but we will do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Ok, so I’ll kick off with my weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 12 stone 11.8 pounds, and today I weigh: 12 stone 12.2 pounds, so I’ve gained 0.4 pound this week. I only managed to get to the gym once – instead of twice, which has been the case for the last couple of weeks, but I did enjoy the gym session, and made the most of it. I did my Strength exercises (inspired by Ruth_Canal_Runner’s March Strength Challenge) so feel good about that. I have also kept up my Kms for FizzyLiz’s 20,000 Leagues under the Sea challenge and I’m still on track for MarmiteRehoming’s 4th July Challenge. I’ve also cleared and sorted out my wardrobe in anticipation for Sueper’s Dress Challenge.
So many great Challenges, and I would thoroughly recommend doing these and participating in them, if you are thinking about it. I know many of you are already involved – I’m sure you agree it’s motivating and great fun! Look in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) for more details.
My goal for next week is to lose 1 pound. I also hope to go to the gym at least twice, and keep up my Strength exercises and Kms throughout April. I also hope to try out a new recipe of some sort, so I'll be having a look for some inspiration in the various Recipe threads, as well as through my recipe books. I might get a fresh recipe book from the local library, as there are some great ones available there.
Ruth_Canal_Runner has done the stats this week, (many thanks Ruth!) and they are inspiring:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 117.
Total overall weight lost: 115.8 pounds (52.55 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 64 (139.5 pounds lost) (63.3 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 17 (23.7 pounds gained) (10.75 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 16.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 17.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 3.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
N.B. The Afternoon/Evening Session will be posted at approx midday – and if it has already been posted, then the link will be here:
Those pesky scales eh? Grrrr !! but good to look ahead to the challenges, especially dress challenge 😊
My weight this morning is 73.5 kg, 300 g down from last Monday's 73.8
I was hoping for more but have been hungry all weekend, I suspect because of upping the exercise. (I have lots of K's for Lizzie tomorrow! ) I am also pleased to have stuck within my upper calorie limit of 1400.
I'm up early to catch a train to Edinburgh for a belated birthday celebration with my son! 😊 Happy days 😊
Good morning! Yes, those scales are pesky. But I'm sure that later in the morning that 0.4 pound I gained might even disappear if I'm lucky!!!
Congratulations to you for losing 0.3 kgs this week. Well done on upping your exercise over the weekend, and I hope you enjoyed it. Great that you've got lots of Kms for Hidden 's Challenge tomorrow. Well done also for sticking to your upper calorie limit.
I know you're off to Edinburgh for the belated Birthday celebration with your son, so have a wonderful trip and a great time celebrating.
Onwards and downwards!
Lowcal 😊
p.s. I've just copied and pasted your 'smiley' so I can have some of that lovely sunshine yellow colour in the replies!!! 😊
Sorry you gained, but it's only minute. Maybe wiggle the scales into a different position
I've had an OK-week. Overeating (eating around 1600-1800 kcal) but exercising a fair bit (getting to a daily burn around 2400-2800kcal). I believe today's weigh in is slightly flawed or I have been retaining water over the week. (I weigh myself daily to keep an eye on exactly that.)
Today the scales were saying 66.5kg, which is a 1.3kg loss on last Monday's 67.8kg.
Over the week I have always been around the 67.5kg, which frustrated me as I have been excessing a lot, maybe today was finally reward time.
Yes, I'll have to try some wiggling of the scales, you're right!!!
Glad to hear you've had an ok week, and Congratulations on losing 1.3 kg this week, that is fantastic!!! You could be right that you might have been carrying some water weight over the week, which has finally released today, giving you a larger overall drop, but whatever the reason, it's a great result.
You certainly deserve a reward from the scales Foodie, with all that extra exercising and that would account for your overeating too. I wouldn't actually term it overeating, just fuelling your body to a level that it requires
Well done for that 1.3kg loss! Let's hope the scales are just as kind next week :
I overindulged on my "low calorie" bilberry muffins. They worked out just 120 kcal each, using utterly butterly and truvia instead of butter and sugar. But those 120kcal each wack you when you feel like having 3 muffins at once.
Muffins nearly gone, I'm in the process of baking and making my OH's birthday cake. I may not be able resist a slice of that!
So I feel doomed for this week already, but hopefully will be able to compensate with some extra time on the cross trainer. 😊
Oh my goodness, don't feel doomed! A slice of birthday cake will be just fine, if you count the calories and take them out of your allowance. You can always save up some calories, for a little extra indulgence
Happy birthday to your OH, I hope you have a lovely time
Haha. I haven't worked out the calorie content yet. But it's three sponge layers sandwich with a creamy chocolate spread! I'll report how many calories in a slice in next week's weigh in, which will be around the 70kg mark. 😂😱
I have just checked what your weight was in last Monday's weigh-in (but please could you keep account of how much your weight change is yourself for future times, as it does take me more time to do that, and we certainly couldn't do it for everyone - but I know you've had a tough week this week, so I'm looking it up for you today).
You were 80.7kg last Monday, so that means you've lost 0.8 kgs. Congratulations!!!
I hope you're doing ok, and that this week will be a good week for you. Try to be kind to yourself, as you have had a tough week last week (as I already said), but I really hope you are doing ok.
You're making great progress with your weight. Here's to another great week ahead.
I'd also like to say that I did hear back from the Tech department who said they'd been fixing the glitch where some people couldn't 'mention' particular names in their posts - e.g. mentioning Hidden for example, which I couldn't do last week - but as you can see this is now fixed.
I can't do smiley's still though - unless I copy and paste other people's.
Hence doing doesn't work, but copying and pasting one that I see that someone else has done, i.e. IndigoBlue61 , means I can do it that way.
Lowcal, less than 1/2lb is a minor blip, especially as you're really on the ball with everything else. You're such a busy person, I'm not surprised you find it difficult to fit in more trips to the gym. Keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing a grand job and lots of luck with your 1lb goal for next week
I'm super excited today, because I've lost 1.625lbs, which takes me into the 14's! Woohoo! I have reduced my exercise considerable, which has put a stop to my hunger and tiredness, thank goodness. I had hoped to increase my strength exercises, but an old operation site has herniated, so I've had to be careful. Fortunately is seems to have calmed down and isn't as painful, so maybe I shall be able to gradually increase the exercising. I had hoped to have lost 5st by my holiday next week, but with 3.375lbs to go, I think it's highly unlikely, so I shall just try to get as close to that goal as possible
Good luck to you all! Onwards and downwards! Losers are always winners!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words, which I appreciate. I do hope to achieve a pound loss this week, all being well. I'll give it my best shot.
Wow, it's great to hear you've lost 1.5 pounds, that is really really great!!!! Congratulations!!! You're into the 14's - that is a super exciting transition, and I can understand you're excited about that! Really great!
It's good to hear you've adapted your exercise levels to pace them appropriately, as that's an important balance to achieve. Glad that you're no longer feeling tired and hungry. I am so sorry to hear that an old operation area was herniated - and I am relieved to hear it's calmed down and hasn't been as painful. Do take your GP's advice about what it's safe to do and what to avoid doing.
You are really close to your pre-holiday goal, and like you say, just get as close to it as you can. You have already achieved so much. You are already a winner. What was that motto you had - I remember you saying 'All losers are Winners' - was that right? I think it's a great motto!
Ahhh, now I've just read the final part of your reply, I see you did say something like that, and "Losers are always Winners" - that's perfectly worded! Great motto!
Onwards and downwards, and not long now till your holiday, which you thoroughly deserve!
Well done more less- what a fantastic feeling to be in the 14s breaking through the 15 barrier! You must take care and not exacerbate that herniated op site. If you're only 3 1/2lbs away from a 5st loss you are virtually there, that's a totally massive weight loss! You must be so proud!😀😀😀
You're absolutely right, of course and I'm being guided by my body now. There's no point putting myself out of action permanently, so it's one step at a time
It's great that you've decided to join us today and that you've shared your starting weight and goal. 7lbs sounds like a nice round number that should be very possible
Please take a look at our Welcome Newbie thread, as it has some great tips and a link to the NHS 12 week plan, if you haven't decided on which healthy eating plan you're going to follow
As Lowcal has mentioned, there are many challenges for you to join us in, they're very motivating and great fun, so I hope to see you there and out and about on the forum
Hi everyone, here we are in April- oh my goodness I still weigh more than I did at the start of February, I seem to gain and lose the same few pounds... This week the two pounds I put on last week have come off again so I'm back to 12-2 and really frustrated to not be making it back into the 11s... However the best news, I got out for a very gentle 'run' - all the way back to W1R1 of C25K- yesterday, such a relief to finally break through the mental barriers and get out again.
Well done Lowcal on what I would call a maintain- you're still in the 12s, remember how great that was when you broke through the 13 barrier!
Yes, it's April already - where is the time going? Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week and getting back to 12 stone 2 pounds. I know you're disappointed that you've been regaining and losing the same couple of pounds since February, but it essentially means you've been maintaining your weight since that time, which is an achievement.
The fact you've enjoyed that gentle 'run' and you've broken through the mental barriers and got out again is so brilliant! Hopefully today's loss of 2 pounds will become more of a consistent pattern for you - as the trend may now be onwards and downwards for you!
Thanks for your encouraging words - I do remember how great it was to break through the 13 barrier, and it took a long long time to do that, so being in the 12's is great.
Keep patient with your own weight too, and your patience and diligence will be paid off in the end. You're doing well Rainshine. Keep going!
Good morning. I am glad your small gain did not tip you back into the 13s. It is clear you have cracked them. I am reporting another maintain. 11st 12lbs last week and the same today. The only good thing about that is at least I know when I get where I am going I can stay there!
I did not get to my usual class yesterday as it was cancelled. I would like to think that I would be posting a loss if I had but hey ho. Will be trying harder to get more exercise this week and have actually put my Fitbit on this morning!
Good luck everyone. Have a good week whatever you feel about today's weigh in.
Well done maintaining at 11st 12lbs- that's a weight I would like to get to again! If I did I would be very happy to maintain it for a week, just to prove I can stay in the 11s- you will probably have a great week now and continue your weight loss 😀
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, it's much better than a gain. Like you say, you're good at maintaining, as evidenced by this week. Sorry to hear your class was cancelled - and you're right, you might have been reporting a loss if it hadn't been. Great that you've put your Fitbit on this morning, you're all ready for the day!
Well I'm 13st 13lb today I seem to have not wrote blown last week's result but I think I have lost 1lb or stayed the same! It's not been the best week never got to gym after car broke down but did walk the dogs legs off! But also did a bit of snacking been stuck at home. Back to my gym this week car now sorted. Phew!!! Good luck everyone, I won't let a small set back stop me. Xx
I looked up your previous weight, and you weighed in the Monday group last 2 weeks ago (21st March) and at that time your weight was 13 stone 12 pounds. Then 7 days ago you weighed in a separate post, but you didn't say your weight, only that you were 'still 9 pounds lighter' - so I don't know if that helps you to work out whether you have lost 1 pound this week or stayed the same. Do let me know which one you'd like us to count, as I can't actually work it out from the information I've given you, but I suspect you will know what being 9 pounds lighter 7 days ago means in terms of how it compares with your weight today. (Hope this makes sense!).
So sorry to hear you've had a challenging week, and it's good that you've got your car fixed now. That must have been a bit of a nightmare when it broke down.
Great attitude in terms of not letting a small set-back stop you.
Thank you Lowcal for going to so much trouble, last week was stay the same then and this week is 1lb on. I have to increase the exercise now after 5 to 6 weeks of following food diary and a bit of stagnant weight loss hopefully this will do the trick. Onwards and downwards xxx
Hi, don't know if you weigh absolutely everything (even cauliflower etc) I find it a great help, it won't come as any surprise that your EYES tell you LIES! I used to freely pour out bran flakes in the morning, when I started weighing I realised I must have been consuming 90gms instead of 60. Now I weigh out 30gms and use a much smaller bowl, which deceives my eyes into thinking it's more. I chop a banana on top and measure our 100ml of milk. It's small changes like this that pushes in the right direction. Hope it helps. x
Apologies for not posting last week - Easter was super busy. Went to Cardiff to run the IAAF World Halfs (even saw Mo) and caught up with a few uni friends. As I mentioned before, I'm not focussing too much on losing weight over the next couple of weeks. Once Brighton marathon is over I will be back concentrating on getting those pounds off!
Yesterday I ran another half marathon too : New PB of 1:55:39 so super chuffed
Start weight: 12st 2.2lb
Week 1: 11st13.2lb
Week 2: 11st 10.6lb
Week 3: 11st 9.4lb
Week 4: 11st 12.2lb
Week 5: 11st 11lb
Week 6: 11st 7.8 lb
Week 7: 11st 5.4lb
Week 8: 11st 2.8lb
Week 9: 11st 0.6lb
Week 10: 10st 13.8lb
Week 11: 10st 13.8lb
Week 12: -
Week 13: 10st 12.6lb
Enjoy cooking up some new recipes Lowcal! And everyone keep up the great work
Oh my goodness Steph, you're doing so well! You say you're not concentrating on weight loss, but you obviously don't need to, because you're losing anyway, with all that running!
Well done for running another 1/2 marathon and for achieving a new PB - you're on fire!!
How exciting to meet Mo! That would nave been so motivational too
Wishing you all the very best with future runs and have a smashing week
Wow, that is so impressive, such a lot of running and your weight loss has been fantastic too. Very wise to make sure you are well fuelled for these runs, your body needs it.
At the weekend, I got clothes down from the loft and was able to get into a size smaller; need to lose another 7lb to get into clothing another size smaller i.e 2 sizes!
Now taking bigger clothes to the local charity shop.
Fantastic sunny-day! It's all about shrinking and you're definitely doing that! WTG you!
You should join Sueper's "It's all about the dress" challenge, if you haven't already. It'll be great motivation to lose another 7lbs and to go down another size in clothes
Wow, how exciting to be able to get into smaller sizes! Not long until you are in the next size, by the sounds of it. Very wise to clear out the larger ones, it will help the charity shop AND you won't be tempted to relax and fall back into that larger size again! Well done!
Not weighed in today but checked a couple of days ago and it looked like id lost a few pounds still need to ger myself a decent digital weighing scale - can anyone recommend one works well and is good value for money
I also used the Salter scales, but I thought I'd seen them in the 'deals' section in Amazon for a while, but don't know how that price compares with Argos. Not sure if they're still in the 'deal section' anymore. But might be worth a look.
It's great that you've joined us today and that you've shared your starting weight with us
Are you following the NHS 12 week plan, or something different? Have you seen our Welcome Newbies thread, which is full of useful tips, to help you on your way?
Ultimate Goal: 72kg/ 158.4lb/ 11.34st (feeling super happy in my body - BMI 22.22 - 12.09.16)
That takes us to today and my first weigh-in. It's only been five days but I'm happy to report a weightloss of 1.1kg/ 2lb and 1cm off my waist, hips and butt 😊
I know it's the beginning of a new eating plan so bigger changes are to be expected but I'm still super excited because this is my first time counting calories (I've tried everything but) and as I'm feeling very motivated and sure that this time I will have lasting success, not making my weekly goal would have been discouraging.
Also, I've really enjoyed this first week and was very surprised what can fit into 1750kcal with a bit of mindfulness!
Although this will be my last (I'm sure), it is not my first rodeo with loosing weight so I've had all the spreadsheets etc already. I just updated one to my current situation and it tells me all the dates, milestones and so on straight away, which makes me look so organized. All I have to do now is enter my current weight and measurements and the spreadsheet does the rest, such as conversion to lb/ stone/ BMI, difference lost, amount to go and whether I'm on target. You gotta love excel 😍
Thank you for the link to the Newbie thread. I've had a browse through it before but will definitely review it more than once in the future. Such a good resource!
I'm so envious! I wish I wasn't such a computer numpty!
After you've perused the newbie thread, have a look at all our challenges, they're all together in the pinned posts section on the right of your screen
If there's something you think would benefit the site, then do suggest it via the Helpdesk, as I think the Tech department do their best to accommodate our needs. I am sure they'd be open to suggestions for changes.
Well I'm doing it! My first post, but be kind to me I'm a technophobe!
Deceided that there's no point waiting until I've lost weight until I post.....as in the intervening 2 weeks that I have been thinking about it......I have put on 2lbs! Opps.
So today is the first day. The scales today told me I was a whooping 13st 10.5lbs. My heaviest ever😱.
My first goal is to get to 12stone and if I could achieve this by the beginning of May I would be very happy.
So here I go, counting the calories and recording ....on my smart phone....I hope? Gym and NO alcohol.
Happy morn everyone, I've lost 3.4 pounds which puts me under 100 kg Was 15 st 12.6 now 15 st 9.2 or 99.4 kg. Next target 96.0 kg. Off to prepare a healthy breakfast, then I'll read how everyone's getting on, because I don't wake up properly without my coffee! Katty
I have stayed the same this week but not really worried as my clothes are fitting me so much better, all my slim and salsacise workouts are doing wonders especially around the hips, looking forward to the dress challenge
I am 11st 5.6lb this week meaning I have gained 1.2lb this week I'm thinking maybe I need to put up a post and try a 'who can lose the most this week challenge' to find some motivation haha
You have a miniscule gain lowcal, you can easily shift that number down by next Monday
You had that week long birthday, Steve, so I bet you are not surprised. Time to get back on track this week and lose that pesky pound and a couple more to keep it company!
I briefly saw your Challenge post earlier, and I'm going to look forward to checking in later for a bit of competition! - so will look forward to that!
You'll soon get that 1.2 pound off - especially with your 'competitive hat' on.
Lowcal sorry to hear of your very small gain im sure next week you will be back on the downward spiral.
For the past few weeks ive been stuck at 10st 3lb but this week i weighed in at 10st 1lb so a 2lb loss! So pleased with my loss putting it down to strict eating keeping within my allowance and have to give the credit to the 5x50 challenge which is helping kick kms for Hidden challenge.
Last week I never weighed in as I got caught up in the long weekend and visitors etc. but I did weigh myself and it was 64.4kg. This week I'm exactly the same, which is both relief and a disappointment. I am going to have to try harder to eat less or find a way to exercise more. I really want to loose just a little bit more - 60kg would be amazing, 62kg would be really good. So not far to go, I just have have to focus now... starting today... and make sure nothing extraneous finds its way into my mouth. Evenings are the worst.
After a long weekend and visitors, I would say that a maintain is really good. I know you want a loss and if you manage to find a way to move more as well as concentrating on your intake, then the weight will shift. Now that the days are getting longer, maybe a walk in the evenings (it doesn't have to be a long one, half an hour is enough) would help both with increasing your exercise and reducing the temptations!
Good Morning Lowcal and everyone! Hope everyone's has had a good weekend. So last week the scales said 9 stone 4 lbs and this am I'm 9 st 1 lbs so am down 3lbs this week..yippee! So I started 4 weeks ago and have lost 11 lbs in that time, I am 3 lbs away from my healthy range..I almost can't believe that this time things are different! I think a lot of it is down to reading people's experiences on here plus the fact that I am not depriving myself at all.
Morning everyone! I'm very pleased to say today I weigh 10st 12.25lbs so I've lost 3.25 pounds this time! Plus I'm in the tens!!! Wahooooo! Hope you all have a lovely week!
Unfortunately I have put on half a pound. I am not really surprised as we have had several meals out with friends this week. However, I have been walking more again and enjoyed being out in the sunshine. Makes you feel good.
Hey, half a pound while having several meals out this week isn't so bad at all. I am sure you will knock it off and more this week, especially now that you are out walking more.

Oops! What a twonk I am. Did the maths the wrong way round!! I have lost 1/2lb. Even more surprised !!
Good morning. I skipped last week as I was in the middle of a long weekend celebrating my husband's imminent 50th with lots of lovely friends (and food and booze). Two weeks ago I was 70.6 and today - for the first time in years - I'm a clear 70.0. I'm amazed that there's been a loss at all as I totally overindulged on three of the Easter weekend days, plus I've been out to dinner twice this week. But my exercise is still way more than it was at the beginning of all this, so I guess it pays off!
Next goal - well I'd like to reach a target of some sort by my husband's actual birthday, in 15 days. Not sure what's reasonable, maybe 69kg?!!
That is an impressive result considering all the extras you have been enjoying. I think you are right, the exercise is balancing things out. Just goes to show how important it is.
Your goal of 69kgs is very doable, go for it!
Hi!
Weighed 17st 5.5 lb last week and 17st 4.25lb this week so a loss of 1.25 lb for me this week! What a difference being on the right medication makes
I am glad you now have the right meds and yes it does make a difference! What a great loss this week, it is great to see those numbers go down. Here's to another successful week ahead!
Wow, that's a great result - Congratulations on losing 1.25 pounds. Glad you're on the right medication for you now, and that it's made a positive difference.
Hey. Last week I was 15,3 and today I am 15,5 so a gain of 2lbs. I've had a pretty shocking week health-wise. I was working long shifts and didn't get any running in during the week and I just ate whatever I felt like. I don't know what happened, something in me just gave up. But then yesterday I finally hauled myself off the sofa and ran my first 10k (1:05:45 - very happy with that) so I'm really hoping that might be the thing I needed to get me going again. I've had to abandon my birthday goal of 14,13 but I would really like to lose 3lbs this week so that I can atleast be lighter than I was at Easter. I just don't want to give up completely and I came quite close this week...
I am impressed by your 10K Garfield and especially impressed that you have turned this around. I am so glad you haven't given up entirely and I am sure now you have tackled your demons and won that you will be forging ahead, both with weight loss and your running!
I hope you feel better really soon. It's very tough when your health isn't good, so I'm glad you're not giving up - but please do pace yourself to ensure you don't excacerbate your health issues - essentially your health is so important!
Take care and wishing you a better week ahead, and really hope you feel better as time goes on.
Good morning, I just weighed in at 10 st 3, a two pound loss. Really pleased with that as I made a big effort to not go off the rails completely over Easter and I upped my exercise last week.
Good luck with the week ahead everyone. Lowcal, I tried a new brunch recipe over the weekend - banana protein pancakes. Took a photo so will post the recipe if I can figure out how to upload photos to the thread!
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is fantastic! You've done really well with coping with the Easter period, and great that you upped your exercise last week too.
I am looking forward to seeing your recipe and photo for the Banana Protein Pancakes - they sound delicious!!! I'm excited now!!!
Fantastic loss, Foodlover! Those pancakes sound lovely and it will be great to see a photo. Unfortunately you can't post a photo into an existing thread, so the best thing is to start a new thread of your own, I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing them.
Have a great week ahead!
Hi guys so this week i am back up to 11 stone 10lbs with a gain of 1+ feeling pretty crappy about this, but it is what it is i guess
Sorry to hear you're feeling not great about your gain of 1 pound, but hopefully you can turn things around again this week, and you'll soon get it off again. Maybe look at pre-planning your week? I often find that a good strategy, as it stops any unexpected things from getting in the way of your goals - but everyone is different, so do think of a strategy that will help you personally.
Wishing you luck and hope you have a great week ahead.
It's a fresh week, so there's lots of scope to have a good one!
First of all, well done for posting the gain in here, being mindful of where you are at is half the battle. It is when one buries their head in the sand that disaster strikes.
So, dust yourself off and make sure that this coming week is the one that turns it around - I know you can do it!
Morning Lowcal and everyone, so it's a 1/2lb loss this week from 10st 6 3/4 to 10st 6 1/4lb, disappointing, I have had a fab 4 days off work last week, and a long awaited weekend off. I did eat out with friends ( at theirs and was mindful of my intake, puds included).
Sorry you've had a minor gain, it seems my body often decides to bloat/ retain fluid at weigh in Monday, annoying........
A pain that you have gained slightly Lowcal, it will soon be gone x
Glad to hear you've enjoyed a long awaited weekend off plus the time off work last week too - a lovely long weekend - some socialising - all great things! I think you've done so well to lose 0.5 pound after time off like that, it is really great! Congratulations! 😊
Thanks for your very kind and encouraging words. I am feeling ok about it, and I am sure you're right that it will soon be gone!
We forget or I did that I can't control my bloating days ( my variances se em so much less these days, not having times of the month), I know lower carb helps and I struggle with that.
I'm sure the minor gains for lots is just water retention days, after all we are do much more then numbers
Morning. At the end of week one my weight is 11st 12lbs so a loss of 4lbs. So happy. I've stuck to my calorie allowance and been out running for c25k (I'm in week 4 now ).
My goal for this week is 1lb and I'm aiming to get to 11st 7lbs and my medium term goal which will roughly take me to a 5% loss in body weight.
Wow, you've lost 4 pounds at the end of your first week, this is a great result! Many Congratulations!!! 😊 Often more weight is lost for the first week, and maybe even the second week too, but often after that it levels off to between 1 and 2 pounds (although of course everyone is different) - but you may already be aware of this trend. Great that you're in Week 4 of the C25k - I hope you're enjoying it! Great exercise!
You've set yourself a really good goal for this week, and I'd like to wish you success with that, and hope you enjoy the week ahead.
Did you know that when you achieve 5% loss in your body weight, you are elligible to claim an 'I did it!' badge - see the Pinned Posts area for details of these badges. It's optional regarding whether you want to claim one, or in what circumstances you choose to claim one - it's all explained in the post.
Hi Lowcal. Aw thanks. Yes thought I'd aim for 1lb per week now as I expect it to level off. Used to run a lot but gave up last year but got my mojo back and really enjoyed my run yesterday. Starting to feel like I'm getting my stamina back. Didn't know about the 5% pin but that's great. Something to aim for. Good luck this week and thanks so much for taking the time to write back. It's really encouraging to know we're all out there trying to get healthy. 🌻
Morning sea dwellers today is a beautiful day hope everyone had a great week well last week I was 16st 8lbs today 16st 7lbs so that's 1lb loss for me which it's moving in the right direction even though I've not done much walking with my foot so I'm happy with that. Not only that today is my birthday so win win all round so I'm off out with the family somewhere secret they say 😀 happy days... good luck everyone for next week and me after the birthday cake 🍰😀
There are some 'Sea dwellers' amongst us in the Monday group weigh-in, but not all of the people here are participating in that Challenge, so they might not realise what you're referring to there! Basically, you're mentioning Hidden 's great Challenge thread of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea - which is a great Challenge. The thread will be open tomorrow for those of us who are 'sea dwellers' to update our kms. Glad you mentioned it!
It is a beautiful day today, and it's great to hear you've lost 1 pound this week. Congratulations!!! 😊 That is especially good considering you've not been able to walk as much due to your foot. I hope it is feeling a bit better and that you're recuperating.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! It's exciting to hear it's your special day today, and I hope you have a really lovely day! Enjoy the 'secret' destination, and enjoy your Birthday cake too.
Sorry Lowcal must be b'day brain fog getting my days mixed up 😊 thank you had a fab day out and the foot is a little better also. Just gotta do a little more for next week to walk off the cake 🎂 it was lovely though 😀
Good morning everyone. Last week I weighed 14 stone 7.5 lbs, this week I am 14 stone 6.5 lbs so I have lost another pound! I am really pleased that I weigh less now than before my holiday in March and before Easter. This plan is working for me and I have a steady healthy weight loss and I am learning healthy habits and keeping them. I feel great 😀
Good morning! Wow, you've lost another pound, that's really great!!! Congratulations!!! 😊
Brilliant to hear you now weigh less than before your holiday in March and before Easter. It's great that the NHS 12 week plan is working for you and that you have a steady healthy weight loss - as well as learning healthy habits and keeping them.
Feeling great sounds wonderful, and long may that continue!
Sometimes those scales don't do what we hope they'll do. You've only gained 1 pound, and I would say just keep focused and maybe pre-plan the week ahead, and you'll soon see the back of that pesky pound. Don't let it put you off your goal ahead.
It's a fresh week, with lots of potential, and you have vast potential too - so embrace it and have a lovely week ahead!
Morning all and good luck to everyone...only just starting out and since Saturday I've lost 2.05 lbs....not comfortable about putting my stRting weight just yet but I've got a long journey ahead of me 😊
It's great to see you, and I'm glad you decided to join us - I know you said you would, and I remember that your friend Lou had suggested you pop in. I am right in assuming this, I'm going by memory here - and I can get confused sometimes...! Anyway, I'm really happy you're here, and Congratulations on losing 2.05 pounds already since Saturday! That is a fantastic start.
Sharing the starting weight can be a very daunting step, so only do it if you feel comfortable to do so, and there is absolutely no pressure to do so - you can continue to just mention the weight 'change' if you prefer. It is whatever is most motivating to you - it's your weight loss journey, and we hope to support you alongside, as we're all at various stages in our own journeys.
It can be helpful to give yourself mini-goals to work towards, as this is much more motivating in general, and achievable too. Also, you might consider taking your body measurements (again you don't need to disclose them to the group unless you want to of course), but they can be motivating on those occasions when the scales don't move - they do get stuck sometimes, despite best efforts, and it's not all about the scales - it's how we feel in ourselves, how our clothes fit, etc etc. So many factors.
Hope you have a great first week. I'm presuming you're following the NHS 12 week plan, and hope that you enjoy the week ahead.
It's fantastic that you've chosen to join us today and absolutely brilliant that you've already lost 2.05lbs in 2days!!! Woohoo!
Don't worry about not sharing your starting weight yet, but for goodness sake don't be ashamed about it, no-one here will judge you. When I first joined, I'd never told anyone my weight, not even my OH, so to admit to everyone that I was 19st 10lbs, didn't come easy. However, when I'd done it, I felt liberated! I was now in control of the weight, not the other way around. That was almost 5st ago and I'm soooooooo happy that I trusted the wonderful members of this forum with my biggest, dirtiest secret
Long journeys are great, they give you time to get your head in the right place, for when you're an exulted maintainer
Have a look at our welcome newbies thread and please join in any, or all of the challenges.
Looking forward to seeing you out and about on the forum and wishing you a wonderful first week
I started week 1 on Friday and I have lost 4 lbs already, I do have a lot to lose but I am staying within my calorie allowance and having 3 meals and 2 snack times, I know from past experience you lose more in the early weeks then the hard work begins that's the bit I'm dreading.
It's great to see you in the Monday group weigh-in - a very warm welcome!!! It's brilliant to hear you've lost 4 pounds already. Congratulations!!! It's good that you know from past experience about the fact you're likely to lose more weight in the first couple of weeks or so, but I really hope that you won't find the subsequent weeks to be the hard work that you're anticipating. The NHS 12 week plan is very sustainable, and it shouldn't feel like hard work, so it will be interesting to see how you find it as time goes on. Hopefully you'll be enjoying it. You can let us know as time goes on.
Try not to dread it though, as an optimistic approach can really help - although it can also be elusive sometimes.
I'd like to wish you a really good week ahead, and thank for joining us. It's great to have you on board this Monday group weigh-in journey.
It's not to be dreaded, until you hit plateau or nearly at your final target that things become a lot harder. I've only lost 1/2lb this week, being only 2 1/4lbs away from my maintain, so obviously any loss is good.
In that time you'll form better habits, be more used to stuff, enjoying being lighter, if things do go pear shaped lots of support here to help you x
I'm afraid it's a 2lb gain for me this week - it was the OH's birthday last weekend, so I had couple of treats at the start of the week. I also started new medication on Friday, which might be another factor...
Oh dear Cooper, a double whammy! You'll soon lose any gain caused by your OH's birthday celebrations (belated birthday wishes), but you'd need to check the contra-indications of any new drug.
Yes, a bit nervous. I googled impact on weight and 1:10 people lose a few lbs, but 1:15 gain around 30lbs with no dietary changes at all... Hate the roulette!
I hope the weight gain is just a temporary blip. Sometimes our bodies take a week or two to adjust to medication, so hopefully once you are past that period things will settle down.
I shall be crossing everything that you do have a weight loss next week!
I managed to lose 3 lb since my first weigh in last Tuesday....I haven't managed to go to the gym last but intend to go at 3 times this week. ...I have fat too many new clothes that I need to feel comfortable in! I have hung one of my gorgeous dresses on the wardrobe. ...so far it seems tö work. ...
Good luck everyone for this week..keep up the good work..
Wow, you've lost a pound since last Monday, that is great!!! Congratulations!!! 😊 You're getting ever closer to those 12's, and wishing you success with your goal to lose another pound next week.
Woohoo Suzy! This new, positive mindset of yours is really starting to pay off now, those 12's will be yours for the taking, in next to no time! Good luck with your 1lb goal
Good luck for next weeks goal. Last week I weighed 11st 11.25lbs this week I am 11st 11.75lbs that's a gain of .5lbs. Seem to be struggling a little at the moment. Easter eggs didn't help! Would like to lose 2lb next week.
Sorry to hear that you're struggling summer, but take heart, easter's behind us now and we can say goodbye to all that chocolate.
With the lighter evenings and , hopefully, better weather, we'll be more tempted to go out for a walk, than sitting, snacking, in front of the TV
That half pound will be history by next monday and if you're in any doubt, go and join any, or all challenges that you're not already signed up for, to get extra motivation
weighing each week is bound to show some times when we stay the same or increase a little but if we keep our eye on the long term, where we started and where we are going to end up, that is the important figure - the destination, regardless of a few hicups along the way. So I know you will keep motivated and get the 1lb loss for next week!
So to my weigh in this morning, I tipped the scales at 15st 10lbs so a loss of 2lbs from last Monday. I have had a few days hard labour in the garden, this past week, and on Saturday morning I actually weighed 15-9! , but over the weekend I relaxed a bit and indulged in a lazy sunday afternoon so no surprise it crept back up !
So it is steady as she goes for me, keeping to the calorie limit and reducing bread, potatos and rice intake and more gardening as exercise.
I am in the final days of the 12 week plan and obviously I am pleased with the results. I am though, getting that feeling of doubt as to whether I can sustain things enough to move onwards to get to my final target so this week I will be looking to change some of the recipes, introducing home made soups and more salads as an evening meal in other words to freshen my approach to it and re-focus to get to 15 stones by 24th April, when I leave for Cyprus for 5 weeks.
Thank you so much for your very encouraging words, which I really appreciate. I will do my best to keep motivated to lose a pound for next week.
Wow, you've lost 2 pounds this week, that is fantastic! Many Congratulations!!! 😊 You are making such excellent progress. It sounds like you're also having a look for different recipes to try - I think it is a good idea to keep things interesting and varied, and a freshened approach definitely keeps things vibrant and encourages you to continue and sustain the progress. So really good idea!
Not long now till your lovely holiday in Cyprus. You've still got a good 5 weeks to go though, so you can make some great progress in that time. Good luck!
I was a bit rushed on the weekend with other stuff going on, but I did spot a lovely photo of you and your daughter that you'd had taken, it was a great photo!
Have a brilliant week ahead, and hope you cope with all that gardening.
Thanks lowcal, it is 3 weeks until I go away so I am pushing to get to 15 stones by then. Where I am going I will have no weighing scales so I will have to watch what I eat and drink very carefully and hope to at least maintain whilst I am away!
Ah John it's so much easier for you being male.........you can eat more! And don't have pesky hormones, you just need to adapt as you are doing well done on your loss too.
Hi Diana, I suppose it has to have some advantages Yes, I am looking to adapt for the next three weeks so that I can keep things interesting, as well as to use up the food we have in the fridge/freezer before we go away for 5 weeks. So lots of meal planning going on in the kitchen today
Great time of year for gardening, John, and at least you can see something tangible for your efforts! I love to be outside in the garden, when its not raining! Good luck with your goal for your holiday target, I am sure you will reach it Sounds like you are doing all the right things to get there!
The garden is starting to take shape now but still doing the "hard landscaping" (heard that term on the TV) and plants are standing by waiting to be put into the soil. So I still have my exercise planned for the next few weeks! - John
You have done so well, I am sure your plan of mixing things up a bit and perhaps trying out some new recipes will get you to your goal in time for your holidays!
Good morning! I was 11 stone 7 lb last week and am 11 stone 5lb thus week. Am thrilled as can now say am not classed as 'overweight' according to my bmi. Am still wanting to lose at least another stone as am really enjoying my running and feel this will be easier if I weigh less. Hope everyone else has a great week.
excellent loss and "congrats" at becoming overweight I gained that distinction this week as well and, like you, I am looking to lose at least another stone. John
Sorry to hear you're feeling bloated, and that you've got your time of the month. It's very normal to gain weight at such times, and I noted your weight from last week, and it was 98.3 kgs, so you've gained 1 kg this week - but that should soon come off again once you are over your period, so please don't let it put you off.
Try to stay focused and positive, and hopefully you'll have a really good week ahead.
It's pretty yuk feeling bloated, I've had menopasal bloating, fresh ginger, calms and soothes it also helps with those monthly cramps, minced as a tea will help! ( I know only too well)
Morning everyone and well done xx lost the lb that I keep putting on and am determined that I don't see it again!! Not much exercise as find it difficult in the holidays but cut down on the alcohol xx have a great week xx
ON my dance holiday so big challenge this week.! B ought my mini scales with me but even allowing for them weighing half pound light I have only lost three quarters of a pound so 10.7 today disappointing as earlier in week I Was 10.6 this week will be hard with hotel food will try to choose bet option and did have trout and fruit salad , but had icecream on beach! No more of those. GOING to find pool for swim and will be dancing to night hoping that will work. Easter cake almost gone so only one more discipline to tempt me! Have good week x
Wow, you're on your Dance Holiday - I hope you're enjoying it so far! Great that you've bought your mini scales with you, and Congratulations on losing 0.75 pounds this week. That's still a really good loss!
Good luck with negotiating the Hotel food and hope you make some good choices - the trout sounds lovely, and also the fruit salad. Ice-cream on the beach sound really tasty - I would definitely have done that too on holiday, really lovely! You can still have those things - it's all a matter of balance as you know.
You're doing lots of exercise too - hope you find a nice pool to swim in, and enjoy all that dancing. You'll be looking fabulous in your lovely dancing clothes. Enjoy!
Morning, so really nervous as tried and failed so many times. Have 7 stone to lose approximately and it daunting. I know about looking at small goals but I always go back to the huge journey ahead and with my depression and back problems is a big challenge. Anyway I weigh in this morning at a disgusting 18 stone and 12 pounds. I'm 5 foot 8 tall so ideally want to be around 11 stone. 😞😞😞
A very warm welcome to our Monday group weigh-in. Thank you so much for joining us, and it's really good to have you with us on this journey. I know you're feeling really nervous, so I hope that you'll begin to feel more comfortable and also confident as time goes on, but just take things easy and see how you go. I'd recommend the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure to follow. I can't remember if you've had the link to the Welcome Newbie thread, as it is very helpful. Do let me know if you've not seen the link, and would like to - as I can easily pop back with it for you. It's in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage).
It can be daunting to share your starting weight, so well done for doing so. It is certainly not disgusting - it's only a number. But I can appreciate that it can feel uncomfortable to be faced with a number at the start of a weight loss journey. If you set yourself some mini-goals, e.g. half a stone at at time, or something like that, then it can be much more motivating and you can enjoy seeing the progress. Having a weekly goal to aim for is also good.
But do have a read through the NHS 12 week plan, and do let us know if there's anything you're not sure about.
First of all, let me say that there's nothing disgusting about you at all, not even your weight! When I started, I was 19st 10lbs and I'm 2" shorter than you! My journey has been 7 months long, I've lost nearly 5st and I've loved every minute of it!
Don't look on your journey as a life sentence, but as an opportunity to regain your life. We can do this together and we can have fun while we're doing it
Here's to your first goal of 18st 7lbs - I've got my pom poms all ready to wave wildly for you
Thank you Moreless. You're weight loss is amazing, well done. Would be over the moon to achieve that. Keep hold of those Pom pons for me and hopefully I'll get yo that 18.7 soon. Have a great week. 😀
You will achieve the same and more Jacqui, never doubt that! I love waving my pom poms, so I shall definitely keep them handy for when you cross that 18st 7lb line
This is just the start of what will be a rewarding and enjoyable journey for you so if you are intent upon looking at the long journey then look also at the benefits you will be gaining along the way; your health will improve, your shape will change as your weight drops and people will start to notice how good you are looking, your back pain will go away and hopefully this will all help with your depression. Wow! so many reasons to look forward to starting this journey and you will have fantastic help and support from the members on here.
Thank you for your inspirational words. I'm so hoping my back will improve as it causes me constant pain (I have a prolapsed disc with arthritis around it in my lower back) . Having support from others helps a great deal. Have a great week 😀
Good morning Lowcal! That is such a tiny gain, I hope you feel it's tiny too. Importantly you're still firmly in the 12s, and still very close to your goal 😊
I've got away with succumbing to quite a few vices this week - my break from alcohol is over, lots of wine, cider, and a few related food items, too much dark chocolate to mention one. But the stress of moving must have been counteracted by the calorie burning activities that are involved, as I've lost 1lb this week. Meaning I've finally reached 9st11, which means I'm now at my goal range of 9st8-9st11. Hopefully I'll get back onto the straight and narrow this week and be able to knuckle down to some maintaining... 😊
Hi Ruth (Lovely Fab 5'er and amazing Stats Woman!),
Good morning. Yes, I do feel it's a tiny gain, and thanks for your kind words. I am enjoying being in the 12's, and that feels really great! I am very close to my goal - I will keep focused and motivated to get there!
Ooooh, you've succumbed to some vices, but managed to get away with it... Actually dark chocolate is the healthiest type! So that's good!
You've been through a lot in terms of the stress of moving, so glad you've got through that ok. Fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound this week - many Congratulations!!!! That is fantastic! 😊 You're at your goal range of 9st8-9st11 - that is brilliant! Really well done! You've achieved such a lot Ruth, you should be very proud! 😊
Good luck with maintaining this week! Enjoy settling into your new home.
So I haven't posted on the last couple of week's worth of Monday weigh in threads because I was finding it really tough to break the 10st barrier, and tried to just get my head down and get past it.
I'm happy to report that as of this morning I am 9 stone 11!!!
Super happy that I'm even nearer to my 9st goal, and it's given me a renewed push forward to keep going! Literally the lightest I've been in about 4 years right now
I'm really glad to see you back with us today, and Congratulations on getting your head down and getting past that 10 stone barrier. You're well within the 9's now, and getting closer to your 9 stone goal. I will have a look to see when you last weighed in, and what weight you were then, as I can then work out how much weight you've lost 'on average' over that time, to give a weekly amount for Ruth (when she doe the stats). I hope this is ok, as it would be good to be able to work that out. I am happy to do that, as I know you've not weighed in for a while, and it would be difficult for you to remember the amount - but if you do happen to know what the change is for the last week, then you could let me know. Up to you. 😊
Thanks - I'll hope to double check when I get a chance later in the day or even during the week (if I happen to forget today), but be reassured I will come back to it, and will write the amount here so you know what Ruth will be counting in her stats.
Firstly, I just wanted to say that I hope you're doing ok this week, as I know you had some bad news recently, and I really hope you're doing ok.
I said I'd check back on your weight, and you were right, you were 10 stone 1 pound back when you last weighed in the Monday group weigh-in (14th March 2016) so that was 3 weeks ago, and that means you've successfully lost 4 pounds over that 3 week period, and I have therefore divided that total by 3 to make the average weekly weight loss - which comes to 1.33 pounds. Hope you're ok with that amount - really great progress by the way. That will be the amount we'll include in this week's stats.
Hope you have a good weekend, and hope you're doing ok.
Gained 3lb over the past two weeks. Not been monitoring my food ( daughter's birthday celebrations which then was followed by Easter) and not been as active as I'd like. Mainly due to decorating and popping ibrufen as suffering from referred pain from herniated disc in neck - old injury that every now and then plays up! Hoping this week will be a better one and that I get back on track.
I'll count your gain as 1.5 pounds, as we only take a week's data at a time. At least you know why you gained, and I hope that you enjoyed celebrating your daughter's Birthday with her. I hope you all had a lovely time.
I hope you have a better week ahead, and that you don't get so much pain from your herniated disc problem in your neck - that must be challenging especially when you're trying to do the decorating. I hope it's coming along ok.
It's a shame about your little gain but it'll soon be gone again.
This week my scales tell me I've lost 2lbs, yes 2 whole lbs This is the first week for ages that I've lost more than a fraction of a lb! Actually though I don't believe this is an accurate weight, I think the scales have fluctuated in my favour today as I haven't been completely sticking to my diet! For today though I will enjoy the moment but don't expect to have such good news next week!
Good morning. this is BINGBONG10429..I have lost 2lbs this week..YIPPEE! Going in the right direction, my next 'mini' goal is to lose the full STONE. I find it far more motivating to set little steps, rather than look at the BIGGER picture! Good Luck to everyone this week. x
Good morning. Wow, what a great result, you've lost 2 pounds, that is really great! Congratulations!!! 😊
I think you're so sensible setting little steps, and I agree entirely that they are really motivating - the bigger picture is in the background, but it's the steps leading up to it that matter.
Morning all!! I have gained 1lb !! I am not really doing much about loosing weight in fact I've been eating lots of chocolate and sleeping off an infection!! But I want to stay connected and not continue gaining weight as when I'm watching the scales I can see how easy and quick it is to gain weight! I'm off to Berlin for a few nights and was stressing about my diet and how to stick to it so I've decided not to worry too much while I'm away. I suffer from anxiety anyway so going away is a big enough deal!! I think while I'm away I will be mindful of my choices.
A few good things have changed so far in my eating behaviours but I am just not strict enough to notice any sustained weight loss... I do feel a bit defeated but also accept that this is a real challenge and regardless of my results I am moving in the right direction in learning to understand food and cooking from scratch again and liking exercise!! I want instant results for my beach holiday in May but..........I am still yo-yo-ing....
I'm glad you posted and that you've stayed connected with us, as we would have missed you if you'd not touched base. I'm glad that you've been sleeping off your infection, and it's so important to look after your health in those circumstances. I hope you'll be better soon. I hope you'll be ok for your planned trip to Berlin, and I hope it goes ok. You mentioned that you'll be mindful of your choices, and that's a great approach to take. Good luck! Personally, I think travelling is a potential stress for anyone, regardless of whether you suffer with anxiety or not, so I hope you'll be ok, and that it all goes well for you.
Try to challenge those feelings of defeat, as you've not been well, and it is tough to lose weight in those circumstances. Like you say, you're moving in the right direction in learning to understand food and cooking from scratch again, and it's brilliant to hear you've liking exercise too. That is great.
You've still got plenty of time till your holiday in May, and you'll be able to relax and enjoy that holiday, all being well, in the knowledge that you'll be healthier and lighter by then.
Thankyou!! It's good to read everyone else's journeys and weigh in's too!! Feel hopeful that it's not the end of the world and I can keep on going!! Take care
Morning LowCal and you ace Fab5ers. I only joined last week and can already see the work you all put in to this forum so thank you!
Lat week I only posted measurements as I had no scales but I'll be saving those now for SuePer's excellent challenge. I did get myself some scales and am pleased to report I am now 13.0 stone, a loss of 2lbs since I bought my scales last Tuesday.
I have found it really interesting seeing where my calories come from and also that I don't feel hungry on my 1,600 cals a day (except in the run-up to meal times when I would expect to feel hungry), suggesting that I have been eating and drinking the extra calories for other reasons.
This week my challenges are: to improve on my 5 a day - I haven't managed more than 4 a day all week!; continue building my 'meal library' by calculating the calories in the main family meals; put together some lunch ideas for when I go back to work next week.
Wow, you've had a great first week. Congratulations on losing 2 pounds in your first week, that is really great! 😊 It's good that you managed to get yourself some new scales. You're on the cusp of the 12's already - hopefully next week you'll be there!
It sounds like you're already learning things about your food and drink intake. Glad you're enjoying your meals and coping well.
Good luck with your plans to improve on your 5-a-day - it can be challenging at first. Great that you're developing your 'meal library' too. That will make it so much quicker. Hope you also find some great lunch ideas. Have you seen our collated Recipe post - it's in the Pinned Posts area. It has some good ideas for lunches.
Hope you enjoy your second week too! Have a great week.
It sounds as if you've really got your head around what's required for successful and enjoyable weight loss, well done you!
It's surprising what we discover about ourselves and our eating habits, as we progress through our journeys. I'd eaten myself into not experiencing hunger and ignoring satiety. My poor body!
I'm glad to hear you've joined Sueper's challenge, maybe we'll see you in some of the others too?
I keep on trying to keep going. At the moment I reached a barrier that needs to overcome in weightloss. I am struggling for 3 days now. This morning was my weight 89.8kg. The barrier lies by 90kg and I have to see how I am going to do it to keep going. The last attempt approx a half year ago I lost with 90kgs and then I gave up.
Feeling so much better with less weight. And I am eager to fit in clothes again, I abandend two years ago...
Woohoo Flower-Arranger! You've broken through that 90kg barrier and now you're into the 80's! WTG you!
You can do this, make your next goal 85kg and really go for it! How about joining us in some of the challenges, for extra motivation? When we stick together, we can achieve anything!
Yes sometimes losers seem to have their own challenges!
I don't like sports anymore and I don't like walking anymore. I am working as a cleaner do to bad fate and I believe I have enough exercise in a week by this (8hours cleaning ). I am riding my bicycle when I should do a walk instead. When it is warmer I also will go into the garden a bit again. With the cold weather I am pulling quickly a muscle in the garden. We have at the moment the daffodils blooming. And I am longing to see the blue bells as well, I planted last autumn. I will always recall the English spring with long stretches of blue carpets in the springy forests... Cherioh
But just think how you'll feel when those bluebells are blooming. Just like you glimpse your skirt and jacket from time to time, so the bluebells will spring up and before you know it you'll be enjoying both!
Morning to all. Oh no, I've been hit with the dreaded 'weekenditis'! 11st 5 on Friday, 11 7 this morning. Looking after grandkids here for the week, so didn't log cals. So that is 1lb gain on my post holiday weight. Will make sure I keep on track this week. Fingers crossed. OH cooking pancakes for them at the moment, I'm staying out of the kitchen.
I have a very busy day today so regardless of my midday weigh in obsession I shall add my morning weight now. Anything else can go towards next week lol
I was 14st 0.4lb last week and this morning I am 13st 11.2lb
I had to keep re-reading those numbers Hud, because I couldn't believe what I was seeing! 6.8lbs!!!!!! OMG! That's amazing!!! You must be absolutely stoked!!!!!
I'm gobsmacked! I can't think of anything to say! You are a star!
Keep up the excellent work, I can't wait to see what next week brings!
Thank you You don't need to hit the 13s John you are too tall to shrink that far
PS my magic noon time weigh in did it again, 13st 10.4lb down another 0.8lb which would give me a full 4lb down at the end of week 8. That is 1st 7.8lb total. I shook things up a bit this week and started eating plums and strawberries again, morning and before bed.
I am just calculating how much you've lost, and I make it 2.84 pounds? Could you let me know if you think I've made a mistake here, as I wouldn't want to get the amount wrong for the weekly stats. But I hope it's ok. Congratulations in anycase, as that is a fantastic result.
Lowcal
p.s. Just saw your extra 0.8 pound off at midday, so that would be a total of 3.64 pounds??? Please do let me know if this is incorrect. Thanks!
Yippee, its working, sorry Lowcal its all been very confusing, I have been confusing in my posts and rushing around like a stuck pig lol I actually lost 3lb and .2 of a lb at the weigh in. I will keep the other bit for next monday
A gain for me as expected after my trip away but it was worth it to see my poorly brother. My aim now is to lose that 2lb 4oz gained plus a further 10lb over this next 12 weeks. I Have adjusted my calorie intake as i was sticking over later weeks. Good luck with your weight loss plans for next week.
I hope you enjoyed your trip away. I hope your poorly brother is doing ok. It must have been really good to see him, and to be able to spend some time with him. I really hope he is comfortable and doing ok.
You mentioned you've gained 2.25 pounds. So that makes 12.25 pounds that you're hoping to lose in the next 12 weeks. That should be achievable, as it works out at approx 1 pound per week. Great that you've adjusted your calorie intake - hopefully it will help you get back to the onwards and downwards trend.
you are absolutely right and thank you so much for helping me to try and recognise what happened this week. I suffered from severe attacks of migraine and Paroxysmal Hemicrania several times this week and due to this I was not able to do much exercise. I had to take medication on several occasions and was stressing over it a lot as well. 2ndly I have not been measuring my food intake either.
I have also had just 4 hours of sleep for 5 nights of the week due to the headaches.
perhaps all of these might have had an impact on the gain this week maybe?.
I have challenged myself and joined #Scoobasteve to try and be the biggest loser next Monday.
I would say that everything that you've highlighted will have impacted on your weight loss Sana. It's a relief to know where things have been going wrong, although I'm sorry you've had to put up with so much pain and stress.
Whilst I'm always up for a challenge, please don't let the pressure cause you more stress and possible pain. I'd be happier to see you get some good nights' sleep, than worry about losing 2-3lbs
Take care of yourself and those pounds will start to drop
Those darned scales! Good you reminded me of those challenges. I particularly wanted to take up the dress size one. I've a jacket I want to fit me.
Weight last week was 12 St 12.25 lbs and this week 12 St 10.75 lbs so a loss of 1.5 lbs. Waist measurement down from 85 cm to 84 cm.
I was doing well for exercise and then I did a mountain trek (At 56 I was the youngest person in the group and the least fit. Many of the others were in their 70s! ) That sounds great and I really enjoyed it but my knees and hips have been creaking since Never mind I'll get there .
Well done derrygeel! What a great week you've had!
I hope your knees will recover quickly and that you can get back to mountain trekking and putting those senior citizens in their place! I know exactly how you feel, because all the cyclists around here, seem to be in their 70's and put me to shame, by being able to pedal up the hills with no trouble whatsoever!
Keep up the great work, we "youngsters" have to stick together!
Glad I reminded you of the Challenges too - they are really good. I shall be popping in to Hidden 's challenge later today to post my results. Although I've sorted through my wardrobe though, I'm still struggling to think of what to set myself for sueper 's Dress challenge. I'm glad you've found a jacket that you want to fit into. Good luck with that goal.
Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds this week. That is a really good result. Also, great to hear your waist measurement is down by 1 cm.
Well done for doing that Mountain Trek! It sounds like your knees and hips need the equivalent of some DW40. Maybe some healthy olive oil might do the trick? 😊
Seriously though, I hope you recuperate soon, and I hope you have a really good week ahead. You're making excellent progress.
Hi Low cal, moreless, LTL and everyone! Well I had a bad week but managed to lose 1lb which amazed me to be honest! At least I'm feeling more optimistic now so hopefully I'm back on track!
It is so lovely to hear you're feeling more optimistic and that you're back on track - and you've lost 1 pounds this week, that is such a great result - really well done, and many Congratulations! 😊
I know you've had some challenging weeks, but you've been posting and it's been great to see the encouraging responses you've had to your posts, and well done for keeping going and coming through.
Thanks moreless! Well done to you too! And I hope you have a lovely holiday! 🐟🐠🐡🐳🐋 I hope you don't see all these tho! I used to luv going fishing myself! We used to fish on lake Windermere! 😉
Hmmm..... you can't beat it - early morning, mist on the water, quiet except for birds singing and the odd plop of a jumping fish aaaah! I wish I was there! 😉
Morning all, so heartening to know we are all here for each other! Congrats everyone for keeping going in good times and bad.
Lowcal, you are doing fine. It's perfectly ok to take a break when you need it x.
I haven't posted for a couple of weeks because I had no loss to report, but I've managed another 2lb off, so current weight is 11 stone, bang on. Hurrah!!
We've missed you over the past couple of weeks. I know you didn't post as you didn't have a loss to report, but I would encourage you to post no matter what - as it does make a difference to how motivated you can feel for the coming week. It can be really helpful to share those weeks when there's a maintain, and also to gain support in those weeks when there's a gain. But you need to do what feels best for yourself, and what will be most motivating for you, so essentially of course, you must do what you choose to do - and we will hope to be here to support you as and when you post. Glad to see you though! Congratulations on your loss of 2 pounds. You're bang on the 11 stone mark, and on the cusp of the 10's. Hopefully next week you'll be in the 10's, all being well.
We usually take a week's data for the stats, so I need to ask you if you have lost the 2 pounds in the last week, or whether if came off more gradually - i.e. we can only count the one week data for our stats. Hope this makes sense. I can either take an average from when you last weighed in, or if you know you 'maintained' till last Monday and then dropped 2 pounds this week, then we could count the whole 2 pounds. So do let me know which it is, because otherwise I'll take an average amount to give to Ruth for the stats - she'll be calculating them later in the week, and I like to help her out with providing a weekly amount.
Here is my first Monday weigh in ... and I have a smile 😊
Last Monday, when I decided to start yet another diet, I weighed an unhealthy 21st 9lbs. This morning I weighed in at 21st 3lbs. That's a loss of 6lbs, which I am totally chuffed with. Considering I hurt my back last Thurs, and haven't been as mobile as I'd like, so I am chuffed with the loss.
This site has made for good reading, and the little things have stayed with me ... even to the point of opening the fridge to take a mini choc bar from the 'grandkids' tray, thinking do I need it, and putting it back! I know it's early days, but I'm starting this week with a big smile (despite the back pain...).
Good morning! It's lovely that you're smiling for your first Monday group weigh-in. Lovely to see. 😊
Wow, you've lost 6 pounds in your first week - that is an excellent start. I am so sorry to hear you hurt your back though last Thursday - I hope you will recover soon and do seek appropriate help from your GP in relation to that.
I'm so glad to hear you've found this forum site to be a helpful resource, and I'd like to wish you another great week ahead. Hopefully you'll be recovering well from your back pain, and good luck with your goal to lose 2 pounds next week.
That's a good idea, thanks. Yes, looking forward to it but going to have to go back on medication this evening (boo) but hopefully I'll feel better at least.
Hi Lowcal and the fab 5! Sorry to hear about your small gain - that will soon go this week.
I weighed myself last week and I was 16 2.6. This week, I am 15 11.8. A loss of 4.8 lbs. So chuffed to be in the 15's.
Having fun with Miss Fizz and eating when she does. No missing breakfast, rarely have time for snacks and have my dinner at 5:30. And then don't have a big portion because I have to feed her. It's all good.
Hope you're all feeling positive for the week ahead! After completing my second week of healthy eating I managed to lose 2lbs. I'm happy as i did indulge last week on my wedding anniversary and again this weekend so I was a bit worried that the scales wouldn't move. Luckily i'm right on schedule with my weight loss. I have to keep focused this week as normally I cave in after two weeks, also feeling very run down with a cold today and don't feel I have enough energy to exercise, I hope this doesn't affect anything next week. Anyways, overall I'm feeling good, my family have noticed the loss of my face so that makes me happier, almost half a stone loss! Woohoo!
It's great to hear you've lost 2 pounds on your second week of healthy eating. Congratulations!!! 😊 I hope you enjoyed your Anniversary - and also the indulgences over the weekend too. It's nice to celebrate and enjoy occasions like that.
Don't push yourself this week, as you've got a cold, and it's important to recuperate at such times. I've pushed myself previously, and ended up with a chest infection that was really hard to shift in the past, so I am always extra cautious.
Great that your family have noticed that your face look thinner. You've lost nearly half a stone already, that is great progress.
Well done Sugar plum, obviously you are keeping to plan and a regular weight loss just helps you to be confident of achieving your goals! Brilliant - John
morning all, my details are below, this week I have gained 1.6lb. Since I started I have had to contend with erratic hormones in the first 2 weeks and erratic eating in last two weeks, kids on easter hols. I have not been doing much exercise so am resolving this week to do 3, 3 mile walks. The days when I am mindful of what I eat I can easily stick to then calorie allowance. on other days I lack focus, particularly if alcohol is involved I overeat. I am quite cross that I haven't been consistent. I have had virus in last 24 hours so am taking today as a rest day with walking plan starting tomorrow. I know I can get eating under control. I know I can get exercise regime set. I will do this 😊
You've had a few things to contend with fifi, but here's an idea for you, how about trying for a dry April? It's a win, win situation, because you get rid of the empty calories in the alcohol and you aren't encouraged to eat more, because of it
I know that others have had great success when they've tried this approach and I myself, haven't drunk anything since I started, 7 months ago
It's just an idea and, of course, you're at liberty to reject it outright, if you wish
Enjoy your rest day, then good luck with your exercise and eating plan.
Thanks Lowcal, I think you're right, I will take it easy this week. I'm potty training my son this week too so that's another challenge in itself..lol! All the best for the coming week x
Hi Lowcal, thanks so much for your message, the avatar is closest to what i used to look like and what i'd like to look like again...lol! Determined this time! Hope you are well, potty training to going surprisingly well, I had been dreading it for so long, luckily my son took to it really well. Did you manage to get to the gym this week? good luck for your target for Monday's weigh in! Have a great weekend x
This is my first weigh in...I started out on Monday last week as 73.3kg and have weighed myself this morning as 71.8kg. I think the weekend was probably the hardest time not to snack or over-eat. I haven't started exercising yet, so will be looking to start that this week. Feeling pleased that it's a loss.
My weight has stayed the same again this week. No surprise there as had two nights out. No gain either so thinking positive.
Only one night out planned this week so down to business planning my menu for the week. I've just finished walking the Bu, had my grapefruit and am about to make my shopping list.
The biscuit time is nearly empty and the last of the Easter chocolate all gone so, if I don't lose something next Minday you all have my permission to kick my butt!
Happy Monday peeps, good luck to everyone weighing in today 🙏
This morning I weigh 213lbs which is a loss of 2lbs. Yay, go me!!
I'm stoked because I had a couple of events this week that made it difficult to stay on track, including a reunion at a curry house!!! But, I was quite good and chose a meal without a heavy sauce and King Prawns which are pretty low calorie. I did treat myself to a glass of red wine though
The girls and I have been out everyday pounding the pavement to try and better our steps from last week, I'm looking forward to see our total for the 20,000 leagues challenge, I don't think we doubled, but we must have beaten last weeks total
I received some pretty devastating news on Saturday evening, and am waiting to hear more. The whole thing has left me feeling deflated, but I'm trying to stay positive and not let it impact on my motivation.
I hope everyone has had a great week and good luck for the week ahead
Yay, that is a great result - you've lost 2 pounds this week! Congratulations!!😊 It's great that you enjoyed a Reunion - and having one of those at a Curry house is clearly quite challenging! But you chose a lighter option meal, and you were able to enjoy a glass of wine - sounds like a lovely meal out.
Great that you and the girls have been pounding those pavements, and hope you enjoyed those walks. I'm also looking forward to seeing the results of the 20,000 Leagues Challenge - hopefully we can all better our steps - we'll see!
I realise you've had some devastating news, and I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that you are able to cope with whatever unfolds from that. I know you're trying to stay positive and not let it impact on your motivation, but do be kind to yourself - you're only human, and things do often impact. I hope you will reach out for some support if and when you need it. Wishing you the best with everything.
Good luck for the week ahead, and hope your week goes well.
After several wobbles in the week, and then the swimming pool being shut with a technical fault yesterday, I have managed to still lose a little. I was 246.2 lbs last Monday and I'm 245 this today. A loss is a loss... It's only day 11 today in total so I've lost just under 6 lbs in total so I shall remain positive.
However going away today till Friday, will try to be good.
Pleasure . already bought a cake... For tonight. (Looks sheepish)
Well done to everyone this week.
Little Miss Piggy is back, making it a maintain for me again. Really low this morning, can't stop crying. So angry and annoyed. I did an hour of aerobics yesterday as well. But have been quite bloated, is it just water? Don't understand as I've been pretty good. I want to lose this weight, but I just love food too much. 😢😢
I am so sorry to hear you've having a tough and emotional morning. Do you know why you're feeling so emotional? I mean, I know you've told us that you're feeling angry and annoyed - and that you can't stop crying, and I'm wondering what thoughts have been going through your head to make you feel so upset.
You did an hour of aerobics yesterday. Do you do much exercise normally, because sometimes when a person does more exercise it can cause some extra weight due to the muscles repairing themselves after more exercise, so that bloated feeling could be down to water, but it could also be due to other factors - maybe your time of the month is due?
You've maintained your weight, Isou, we tend to celebrate that in this Monday group, because we believe that a 'Maintain is so much better than a Gain' - I truely believe that, and so I'm going to Congratulate you on maintaining. I realise you were hoping to lose however, so I can understand you're feeling upset - but please try to be kind to yourself, and focus as positively as you can on the day ahead.
I don't know what plans you have for the rest of the day, but try to do something that will distract you and re-focus you on more positive things. That way you can move into the fresh week ahead feeling better and concentrate on continuing with your healthy eating plan and your exercise.
I love food too, and I just try my best to choose healthy balanced meals and follow the principles of the NHS 12 week plan. Do have a look through and re-focus, and maybe pre-plan a few meals - a day at a time can be beneficial.
I think I was just bitterly disappointed as I lost 2lbs last week and I'd done some first decent exercise since my daughter was born in October and this week I just maintained. The problem is I know how to maintain my weight really well, I just can't cut back enough to lose 😕
I do walk the kids to school and back everyday and I have 2 preschoolers as well so I'm rarely sitting down. I've always got something to do.
I think perhaps I was potty training my son, weaning my baby and I was supposed to be going out to a playgroup this morning, that fell through because my husband got called into work and needed the car and the weigh-in was the straw that broke the camel's back.
My life seems to revolve around food and scales and losing weight. I do feel consumed by it sometimes.
Anyway well done to you anyway especially as you lost 3lb last week.
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. You have such a lot on your plate with all your responsibilities with the children and potty training your son too - I hope it's going well. I can't even begin to imagine what you must have to cope with - I don't have children so I've not been through all of that. I admire you - and please do be kind to yourself, as whilst you're doing everything for your kids, you also need some 'you time' - but I wonder how much opportunity you get. Sugar-Plum is also potty training her son this week - seems like the week for it!
If you feel like food and the scales are consuming your life - maybe stand back slightly from it - only weigh as often as you feel comfortable with - I weigh daily, but many others weigh once weekly, and some people have chosen to only do it fortnightly or even monthly - it's got to be what feels right for you. You could still join in the Monday group weigh-in, as we would take an average weight loss over the period of time inbetween your weigh-ins. Please do whatever feels best to you.
Glad you're not giving up, and wishing you a good week ahead.
The kids are pretty demanding, but I love them to bits.
Potty training is not going great, but it's only day 1 😀
I think I do basically have very little time for me. I never go out without them, but I would feel strange if I did. Probably cos they are all so young. Before I had them, I was a full time secondary school teacher and I often wonder how I would cope going back as I've developed lots of anxiety issues mainly to do with my weight. I was overweight all my adult life and when I got down to my ideal weight in 2013 and for the first time looked slim, I feel like I've become obsessed with not getting fat again. Even after my last pregnancy I lost the weight quickly, but I've been maintaining for too long and this last stone won't budge. I just wish I had locks on the biscuit cupboards!
I do weigh myself every day. This has helped me maintain my weight loss and I might start posting here more if I have time.
Potty training has been ok. He's getting the idea now.
I've been sticking to my calorie allowance and been more active for the last 3 days. Just need to get through the weekend as it's my son's birthday party on Sunday 😁
Anyway have a lovely weekend too, do you have any plans?
Glad the potty training is going ok, and I hope you enjoy the Birthday celebrations with your son on the weekend. Sounds lovely, and I hope the weather will be good.
Yes, I do have plans for the weekend, starting with a celebratory meal for my husband's Birthday! Sounds like there are lots of Birthdays in April.
Have a great weekend, and good luck for Monday's weigh-in.
Good Morning Zest , forget last week and focus on this week, someone told me onwards and downwards is the motto here! 😊
So this is my first week on the 12 week plan, I started at 117kg and have ended on 114.5kg which is a loss of 2.5kg. I feel I've started well by counting all my calories and completing 3 runs and one session of strength training and generally upping my activity levels. Looking forward to another good week this week fingers crossed and starting the drop a dress size challenge.
Thanks so much for your very inspiring words - and our Onwards and Downwards Motto does definitely help at such times, so thanks for reminding me of that! 😊
Wow, you've made such a great start on the NHS 12 week plan, losing 2.5 kg in your first week. Many Congratulations!!! 😊 Also, completing 3 runs and a session of Strength Training - as well as generally upping your activity levels, that is brilliant!
You'll be well on your way to dropping a dress-size. However, just to say that people often lose more in their first couple of weeks, and then the weight loss levels off to a lower amount - that is normal - although clearly it does vary from person to person. Just wanted to pre-warn you of that, although you might already be aware of that tendency.
Thanks so much for your encouragement. I am not feeling disappointed at all today, as I know I had a large drop in weight last week - i.e. 3 pounds - and therefore I was half expecting a much bigger gain today, and I only gained 0.4 pound, which is hardly anything, so I'm fine.
Yes, our challenges are really great fun. I love them!
Wishing you a great week Flossie, and I'll keep my eyes open for your next update post. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement, it means a lot.
Good morning everyone. ...my weight this morning is 11st 5 so a loss of 2 lb.same new scales in same place so finding I'm doubting it. No exercise last week but started with spinning class at 7 this morning. Unlike any time before I am trying to use fitness pal adding all food /drinks. You have to weigh stuff but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Could I be finally on my way downwards. ...so hope so
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week. Brilliant to hear you started with a spinning class at 7am this morning, you've started the day really energetically! Burning all those kms and calories. Wow!
Glad you're finding Myfitnesspal helpful. It does get a lot easier over time, especially once you get your 'regular' items recorded as you can just click on them then - and you could set up 'regular meals' too - it is quite eye-opening to measure out portion sizes too, isn't it.
I think it sounds like you're definitely on an 'Onwards and Downwards' path - long may it continue till you reach your ultimate goal! Although I have to say it does bump up and down a bit on the way (in my experience), but the overall trend is the important thing, so never be put off on those weeks when the scales surprise you.
Here I am back again after a few months of maintaining my 31lb loss, then gaining a total of 10 lbs - I am horrified how this has just crept on.
So I start again today with my first target to lose 10lbs - at 1lb a week - I can only do it slowly (I wish it came back on as slowly!). My starting weight today is 12st 7lbs, so I want to get back to my previous weight of 11st 11lbs. Then I will resume my original target of getting down to a healthy BMI at 11st.
I have been working out what has changed in my lifestyle to add this weight back on and I can only think it is just slightly more of everything in and slightly less of everything out. I have downloaded the NHS 12 week plan and will start that again to get my habits back into focus and hopefully back in control.
Well done Lowcal for staying in the 12s - such a tiny gain will soon be gone. Good luck everyone for the next week - I am sure the spring will help us with getting more exercise - and see you all next week. I am going to check out the various challenges as well - they look fun! Thanks to all who put so much effort into this site - it really does make such a difference to the endless ongoing battle against the pounds
It's great that you're back with us again after being away - you have done so well to maintain your 31 pounds lost, and I know that 10 pounds crept back on, but you're back to ensure those pounds go away again, and I'm sure you'll be back on track in no time. Good luck! You've shared your new starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do that. You've set yourself achievable weekly goals, and also your ultimate goal too.
It's good that you've analysed what might have contributed to the 10 pound gain. Like you say, 'just slightly more of everything in and slightly less of everything out' - that sounds reasonable! Things do add up over time.
Great that you've downloaded the NHS 12 week plan, and you're re-starting it.
Thanks for your encouraging words, and I'm sure the Spring weather will help us achieve more exercise.
Well done everyone, and don't panic Moreless, it'll happen next week.
Last week I weighed 19st 4 and 3/4lbs.
This week I weigh 19st 2lbs, so a 2 and 3/4lb loss. I did weigh 19st on Friday but I think a bit of drinking over the weekend is showing on the scales this morning.
Still not following the plan exactly, I've just been cutting back on the naughty stuff, and this week I'm going to try cutting out the gluten based stuff, bread, pasta, cakes and biscuits. Am doing a lot of cleaning at the moment as my sister is moving house, so lots of scrubbing and hoovering, and I'm coming home knackered in the evening, so will slowly be raising my activity rates.
Wow, you've lost 2.75 pounds this week, that is fantastic! Congratulations!!! 😊 Amazing to hear you'd got down to 19 stone on Friday too, you were very very close to the 18's. You'll be getting there soon!
Sounds like you're going to be doing lots of exercise with all that cleaning, scrubbing and hoovering - hope you cope ok with all of that! Your sister will hopefully really appreciate all your help!
You've lost another 0.5 kg - Congratulations! That is an excellent result, especially considering you've had a couple of big meals out and no real exercise. Work can get in the way!
You are doing really well, making great progress, and here's to another great week ahead.
Morning, I maintained this week at 92.8kg. I'll take it at the moment given how busy I have been, its tricky keeping up the exercise while on the move!!
Sounds like you've had a really busy week, so well done for maintaining your weight - that is so much better than a gain, and so Congratulations! 😊
I hope you manage to keep up your exercise whilst you're still on the move, and I hope you are able to get some relaxation time in too - in amongst your busy schedule!
Wishing you some 'calm' - consonant with your name. 😊
A maintain is always better than a gain calm, so well done you!
Maybe you need to think outside the box with your exercise, using stairs, whenever possible, squats and lunges whilst waiting for the kettle to boil, running on the spot, star jumps. All things that can be done in any minutes that happen to be free
Morning Everyone, I have increased I'm sad to say, had fish & chips and ice cream while on a visit to Aldeburgh but can't go to seaside and not indulge. Last week it was 13.9.8 and now 13.11. Wish everyone a great week.
Morning! You've gained 1.2 pounds, so minimal considering you've had a seaside visit - I can understand the lure of the fish and chips and ice-cream in such a situation. They are all tasty!
I hope you have a good week ahead, and that weight should soon come off again providing you pre-plan your week and focus on your goals.
Thanks to everyone on this forum I lost 2 pounds this week. I am now 11.8 stones as you have all been so supportive and encouraging. I could never have done this without all of you!
These challenges are great so motivating!
I was speaking to my sister and I realized that I was skipping meals and therefore I ate big meals instead 3 small meals.
Plus I went back to my run walk in the park.
Also I tried on my smallest dress and it almost fits me! Yay!
These pledges started from Ascis. Moorless reminded me to start a thread and every time I cheat I start a new thread and it helps wonders.
Hi lowcal last week i was 15st 4ib 6ozs this week 15st 3lb i think the huds sugar free jelly is working, I'm so glad I tried it. Well done on more or less maintaining i think that will be the hardest thing to do onwards and downwards xx Rosie
Well done for losing 1.375lbs rosie, it seems the sugar-free jellies have definitely done the trick for you!
I also believe that maintaining is the hardest part of the journey and is something I've yet to master. With luck, we'll both have learned the skills necessary, by the time we reach that stage
Onwards and downwards rosie, losers are always winners
Weighed in at 9 stone 7.6 today and was 9 stone 8.2 last week, so down a bit more, which is good. My target was 9 stone 7 lbs but I think I might move it down a little to 9 stone 4 lbs, which gives me a bit more headroom to put it on during difficult times! So aiming for 9 stone 4 lbs by around 4th July challenge deadline. Good luck everyone in your endeavours! Onwards and downwards....
Congratulations on losing 0.6 pound this week, that is great! You're going in the right direction, Onwards and Downwards! 😊 You are very close to your weekly target. I know you're adjusting it now to 9 stone 4 pounds, so good luck with that revised target. Great that you've set that for the 4th July Challenge deadline.
Hi iv'e done it again added my weight on the wrong blog thingy, I gained 2lb this week I know where I went wrong so iv'e given myself a slap and told myself to book up must try harder.
Great to see you! Don't hurt yourself! Slapping is not to be encouraged, unless it's purely a virtual one...! I know you've gained 2 pounds this week, but hopefully you can re-focus and start afresh this week. Maybe think about what might have contributed to the gain, and see if you can change those aspects this week. Sometimes it's not possible to identify the things, in which case it may not make sense - but the important thing is to re-focus and treat the week ahead as a fresh slate - you can hopefully look at pre-planning.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and you have posted in the right place now.
I've really enjoyed the Morning Session, and hope you have too!!! Some great posts, very inspiring.
Thanks for participating. The Afternoon/Evening thread will also hopefully be fun too, so please do have a read through, and more importantly, if you're reading this and considering posting - go on - post! It is really supportive and helpful. At least I think so! I hope you'll agree.
Good morning and I hope you succeed with your goal this week. I lost one lb this week which makes me 11 stone 1.5 lbs. Am very pleased. This week coming I am hoping for the same althrough its going to be a very hard week as their are two dinners that I have to go to. And a party so I will be happy if I just stay the same.
Thanks so much. I appreciate your encouraging words.
Congratulations to you for losing 1.5 pounds this week, that is really great!!! 😊
I hope you enjoy the 2 dinners you're going to be attending, and also the party. That could be challenging, like you say - and I think you're sensible to set a maintaining goal, but at the same time any loss over that would be a bonus! Good luck! Maybe have a plan of action as to how you're going to approach the dinners and the parties. I usually try to see if I can see a menu online beforehand, as it often helps to have some choices in mind. The dangers can come when you're less prepared - at least that's what I find. I know we're all different, so make sure whatever you do is something that works for you personally.
Thanks Lowcal. The dinners are at peoples houses so I can't really see the menus. Hoping the portions aren't too big!!! Stress am looking forward to seeing friends that I haven't seen in a while but really not looking forward to mountains of food. Am just going to enjoy and not worry too much. Balance is hard but on the other hand don't often go out.
You could always say to your hosts that you'd prefer to have a smaller portion to give you room to ask for more later if you want to. People can be quite accommodating if you do tell them what you'd prefer.
But as you say, you don't often go out, and therefore, maybe just go with the flow and enjoy your evening with friends.
Whatever happens, you can get back on track again before and after.
Thanks Lowcal, feel I have worked really hard losing weight since November and am hoping to keep going but I often say yes when I'm out and just go with it. So this time I plan not to go with my urges and say no and still have a good time. Wish me luck and I hope on the night that I don't get carried away!!!!
I think it can take time to make changes like that, but trying out 'saying no' occasionally can really be liberating, but ensure you have a back-up to the 'No' as people often try to persuade.
At Eastertime, I had my well laid out plans to say 'no' to Easter treats, and I'd already 'agreed' with family members not to buy edible Easter gifts, but the reality is I still came home with a chocolate orange and a bag of mini chocolate eggs. I felt quite assertive and yet when it came to it, I couldn't say 'no' - but the fact is that I could then choose what to do with the goodies. I'm having a piece of chocolate orange after my coffee at night in lieu of my usual piece of chocolate I allow myself - so it's worked out ok.
I think you've got a good plan, and I'd like to wish you luck - but remember that whatever happens, you can get back on track afterwards and most importantly, learn from what happened and try to re-adjust the next time.
I have lost 4lbs this week gone from 17st to 16st 10lbs. I've had a bad cough and just not wanted to eat as much so next week I might put it back on. Which is why I'm not joining Steve's challenge I'm a real wuss !!
Positive thinking is the name of the game Kathy! Well done you for losing 4lbs and if you think there's a chance you may regain them, why not use the motivation of ScoobaSteve's challenge to keep you on track? Better that you lose nothing and lose the challenge, than regain 4lbs and save face, don't you think?
Wooops, how did that happen? Seriously though John, I think that's the first gain you've had isn't it? Not bad going at all, and it will soon be off again, providing you're on track this week, so put it behind you, and here's to a fresh week ahead.
Thanks for asking that question. Yes, the Monday group weigh-in does work in terms of you weighing yourself on the Monday (at whatever time of day suits you best, but consistency is good), and then you can report your weight (again whenever is convenient for you, as we are around all day on Mondays, and some people do post a day or two late).
Basically the latest Monday group weigh-in thread will always be available in the Events section (right-hand-side of the homepage), so you can easily click on it and be taken to the most up-to-date session - alternatively if you choose to follow me, then you would be automatically notified when the session are posted. They are usually just before 6.30am and also at 12.00 midday on Mondays.
You've just posted this question in the thread dated 4th April 2016, but I was notified that you had responded here, which is why I am responding to you.
So, I hope you'll join us on Monday 11th April 2016 for the next session, and we will look forward to having you on board with us.
Hi again Skipper - if you happen to miss a week or two, that is fine, as we always take the difference in your weight as averaged for one week - so it's not essential to join in each and every Monday - but obviously continuity can help the accountability aspects of a weekly weigh-in group.
Hope you enjoyed that dinner out, and savoured every moment. I don't think there should be any guilt involved in enjoying a meal out. I am going for one tonight - so I am hoping to do the same!
Have a lovely weekend, and look forward to catching up with you at Monday's weigh-in.
You've posted on a month old thread, but if you follow Zest , you'll get a notification when she posts the thread, on monday morning. The latest can always be found in the events section to the right of the home page
I don't know how accurate a wii balance board is, maybe you could consider investing in a new set of digital scales, they can be purchased fairly cheaply
Take a look at our Welcome Newbie thread, as it's full of useful tips and inspiring stories. It can be found in the pinned post section to the right of your screen, alongside some fun and motivating challenges and a terrific recipe thread.
Looking forward to seeing you on monday and wishing you all the very best
So glad that moreless found you - and really glad you're joining in with the Monday group weigh-ins. I'll be posting the next Monday session on Monday 9th May 2016 and you can join in at whatever time in the day and/or evening that suits you best.
Hope to see you then, and in the meantime, have a lovely weekend!
Lowcal
I lost 2.25lb this week. I'm now 13st 2.75lb. So far, the small plate diet is working. I'm eating smaller amounts but not counting calories. When I stop losing, I guess I'll have to think again.
