This is the Monday group weigh-in Morning Session, so please join us, and one of the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless, and myself, Lowcal), will respond to you. However please be patient with us as we do have other commitments, but we hope to respond to everyone who joins us. The Afternoon/Evening session will be posted around midday.
I’ll kick off with my weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 13 stone 0.4 pounds, and today I weigh: 13 stone 0.8 pounds, so I’ve gained 0.4 pound this week. It was my ‘time of the month’, and I didn't get to the gym, and I didn't manage to do any Strength exercises either - I just couldn’t motivate myself, despite pledging on Asic’s Daily Pledge posts, and despite Ruth_Canal_Runner’s encouragement. However, I did keep up with my steps/walking, (for the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Challenge (FizzyLis’z Challenge) so I feel good about that. I'll be looking out for that post tomorrow, to contribute my Kms. (If you haven't seen the many Challenges taking place in the forum yet, then look at the Pinned Posts, which are in the top right-hand-side of the homepage for details).
I have also thought about how to cope with Easter, and the fact that I’d like to be 12 stone 12 pounds by Easter Monday, which is my goal for Sueper’s Easter Bunny Challenge. Hence my goal for this week is to lose 2.8 pounds. I hope to get to the gym at least 2 times, and do some strength exercises on 6 out of 7 days (Ruth_Canal_Runner's March Strength Challenge) too. So hopefully it will be a much better week! I’ve woken up today feeling a lot more optimistic. This week should be a good one! ☺
I have done the stats this week, and it also helped to motivate me for the week ahead, as they are really inspiring:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 106.
Total overall weight lost: 126.6 pounds (57.6 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 76 (145.35 pounds lost) (66.1 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 13 (18.75 pounds gained) (8.5 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 14.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 12.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 3.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
***N.B. The Afternoon/Evening Session will be posted at approx midday – and here is the link:
Ideally, you should let us know also how much you were last week, so we know the difference, as we have to look up your previous weight otherwise, and it takes more time - we'd never be able to do that for everyone - as it would take ages - but I've checked your weight for last week, and you have lost 1 pound this week, so Congratulations!!!! Really well done.
I hope you had a great week, and that this week will be another good one.
I am so sorry to hear you've been ill this week, and that you're feeling a bit low. I normally wouldn't have commented about asking you to give last week's weight, but as you'd replied first today, I didn't want the others to copy your lead, if you know what I mean, because we'd never be able to keep up with responding if people only gave their weights. So I hope I didn't sound a bit grumpy in my reply, because that wasn't my intention at all.
I really hope you'll feel better soon, and in the meantime, please look after yourself and don't overdo things - your health is the most important thing.
Joe, hope you have a good day, and I hope that you'll feel better in your mood too as the day goes on. Maybe do something that you enjoy that might help you feel a bit better - not sure what to suggest, but maybe you can think of something that might help.
I really hope everyone has enjoyed the week regardless of which way the scales have gone! Over the last 2 weeks I have been increasing my running mileage in prep for the marathon which means I want to eat more food ha. Meaning this week I haven’t been so strict on what I have eaten. Monday, I was so hungry I had eaten my lunch by 10 (but I didn’t buy an extra lunch-so just a really early lunch that say ha). I think even though it means no weight has been lost, it has done me good and is a nice little halfway break. This is the lowest weight I have been (since I can remember) so I am in the land of the unknow and last time I plateaued here. Very pleased to have stayed the same this week as that’s what I hope to do when at my goal weight (around 10st).
Great that you've been training for your Marathon, and well done for maintaining your weight in such circumstances. I know you're eating more as part of your training, and I hope it all goes really well this week. A maintain is better than a gain. Congratulations!!!
A maintain is always better than a gain Steph and you are doing so well. To be able to train for a marathon, overcome hunger and not gain, is a massive achievement!
I'm sure that next week will see you shift slightly closer to your goal of 10st, so keep up the good work and lots of luck with your marathon training
in my experience it is difficult to lose weight and do a marathon. You need the fuel. But you do tone up brilliantly with all those miles under your belt
But looks like you have done pretty good and smashed through 2 stone milestones. Really well done on both counts and a shout out for marathon
Well done for your fantastic weight loss so far. Sorry you didn't lose anything this week but to stay the same is great especially as you are eating more due to extra exercise.
Hello. I lost 2lbs this week. I found my first week quite hard as still lots of naughty foods around in the cupboards and had 2 celebrations to attend involving meals and alcohol so rather pleased that I lost weight.
I have managed to get my 10,000 steps in most days so pretty pleased with that.
Good luck for next week and use that positivity to get that 2.8lbs.
I am aiming for 2 lbs this week, to get my steps in daily and no alcohol this week.
Wow Gonaslim, to say you've found your first week tough going, you've done amazingly well! 2lbs is a great loss, especially considering the 2 celebrations involving food and alcohol. You should be really proud of yourself
You've also managed to get your 10,000 steps per day, which is no mean feat either.
If you can continue in the same way and give up alcohol, this week coming should be another fab one for you
I'm sorry you've been having problems responding to messages. Unfortunately the site is undergoing a major overhaul and there are dozens of glitches! If the problems get too bad for you, I suggest you report the fault to the tech team. You can reach them by clicking on the help button at the top of your screen and following the instructions
Other than that, this forum and community are absolutely brilliant!
I've not been able to put the post in the Events section yet, as there is a 'technical problem' - so I will try to get that fixed, so I can post it in the Events section.
Aarrgghh Lowcal, Mother Nature can be such a pain! However, 0.4lb is a miniscule gain, so well done you for not letting her get one over on you You're full of optimism, as usual, so I'm sure your plans for the gym, your strength exercises and kicking the K's, will all contribute towards a nice healthy loss next week
I'm reporting a small loss of 0.875lbs today and another 1/2" loss off my waist. I was hoping for more, but it seems that increasing the exercise doesn't lead to increasing the weight loss, but it does lead to a more toned body and inch loss. Well, we can't have everything!
Good luck everyone, here's to a great weigh-in and a fab week
Good morning!!! I've E-mailed the Tech team to see if they can get our thread into the Events section. Otherwise people might not find us today!
Thanks so much for your encouraging words. Much appreciated. I'm glad I am feeling optimistic today, as my optimism had drained away for some of last week!
Great that you're reporting another loss - Congratulations on losing 0.875 pounds and another half inch off your waist. That is great! I agree with you that doing more exercise does seem to benefit the body measurements and toning, and not necessarily the result on the scales.
Hope you have another great week ahead, and Congratulations on completing your 100k for the Sport's Relief Challenge you were doing over the weekend, that is phenomenal...!!!!
Hi, as you know I've been ill all week which has resulted in me losing 3.8lb to be come 11st 3.8lb this morning. That does put my BMI at 24.7 which seems a happier number and I have now definitely lost over 2 stone. 31lbs infact which i'm really happy about.
I know you can easily complete all of your targets lowcal, you have great determination! Looking forward to hearing about your loss next Monday
Morning Steve, that's a fab loss and a great overall total, even if it is on the back of a horrible week for you. They say every cloud has a silver lining
I hope you're feeling heaps better today and that this week is a much nicer one for you
Good morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.
This morning I have lost 1.1kg (2.45lbs) which I'm pretty chuffed about. I have been clocking up some extra kms which has help and been keeping myself busy and away from the dreaded biscuit tin.
This weeks aim is to keep focused and try for a small loss next Monday. Keep up the extra kms and plan meals ahead. Also thinking about Easter and having the family here so, one day and a time, onwards and downwards.
Good luck everyone, hope you all have a good week😊
Hi! Last week I was 11 stone 11 lbs, this week 11 stone 9lbs. Yipee!! 2 lbs loss. I have done loads of exercise over the week, including 3 x 2.5 mile runs, a 7 mile walk and cycle ride. The increase in excercise has been mainly due to help by my energetic 8 year old daughter who comes with me whenever she isn't at school! My goal for this week is to continue the exercise, and maybe try and eat more healthily as although I am sticking to lower calories , I have eaten a lot of sugar last week. Good luck everyone!
Wow, you've lost 2 pounds this week, that is fantastic!!! You've certainly done lots of exercise too - great that your 8 year old daughter enjoys doing that with you when she's not at school. Sounds like great fun.
Wishing you another great week ahead, and you've got some great goals, so good luck with sticking to those.
7am Just to say I'm going to have my breakfast. I have sent an E-mail to the Tech dept to ask if they can help us get our thread into the Events box, so I'll have to wait and see what happens, but hopefully people will find us today - so if you do happen to see anyone looking for the Monday weigh-in-sessions, then please point them in this direction. I'll be back after breakfast!
I got back from holiday late last night and surprise, surprise, I've gained. I was 68.4 before I went and now I'm 69.7kg so a gain of 1.3kg. However it was a brilliant holiday.
That gain puts me 'obese' on Bmi so should be the motivation to get back on track, I hope.
I have done less exercise this week but have still managed at least my 10,000 steps, last week I weighed 14 stone 7lbs this week I weigh 14 stone 6 lbs so that's a loss of 1lb at least its gone even though I had hoped for 2lbs, my goal this week is to step up my exercise
Well done lowcal on all your steps and exercising despite your monthly, not easy to do!! 😊 if you are anything like I used to be, next week will show a good loss for you 😊 I forget when I am in the grips of hot flushes etc how much the monthlies used to affect my eating/mood 😕 😕
I've had a funny week, bloating/abdominal pain/nausea and running to the toilet, all of which has thrown my eating a bit. Grateful thanks to June and Diana for helping me figure out it was the Starflower Oil capsules!! 😕 Anyway, weight this morning 72.9kg, loss of 400g 😊😊 total loss 13.1kg 😊😊😊
I also measured myself this week, total lost: 8cm off my bust, 10cm off hips, and 15cm off my waist!! I am delighted with this as I have targeted my waist due to my 'Apple' shape and high level of abdominal fat. 😊😊😊
I intend to stick to plan 100% this week before my weekend away over Easter, and hope to meet the Easter Challenge by still being under 13kg next Tuesday 😊
Well done Anna a loss of nearly one pound! That was good to be able to figure out that the starflower capsules were upsetting your system it is surprising what we learn about ourselves on this journey
And losing those inches is satisfying as well as 13.1kgs total loss, do you realise that is 2 stones in real money lol
Have a great weekend and a enjoy the weekend break - John
Good morning, I'm starting the NHS 12-week plan today, so this is my first weigh-in. 102.8 kg or 16 st 2:6. I need to get under 100 kg to feel less uncomfortable in my skin. (Ultimate goal 165 lbs is light years away). I've got weeks 1 and 2 printed out and shiny. Have good week. Katty.
I'm delighted that you've chosen to join us and that you've shared your starting weight and goals with us
Well done for being all prepared to embark on the 12 week plan, I'm sure you'll have no problems with it
Have a look at our welcome newbies post, because it has all sorts of useful hints and tips and consider joining is in one, or all of the various challenges that are up and running at the moment, they're extremely motivational They can all be found in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen.
Hi everyone, last week I weighed 13st 11lb, and today back to 14st, grrr.
Irritated with myself as I didn't log everything on myfitnesspal for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which I use to remind myself of how many calories I have to make choices with. Also I did very little exercise last week, so I know where its come from.
So, looking forward I have already logged my breakfast and lunch on myfitnesspal, and will decide what we're having for dinner before school so that I don't have a last minute panic later.
I will log everything, exercise at least 5 days this week and pledge to lose 1lb by next Monday.
Oh phooey fussybird, what a pest! All is not lost though. You've highlighted what went wrong and have already implemented a strategy to rectify the matter. Well done you!
With that determination, how could you possibly fail?!
That's what this thread is all about fussybird. All of our journeys have their ups and downs and sticking together for support and encouragement through all the bumps, is what keeps us going.
We'll always be here for you, so don't stay away, whatever the scales are saying
this site is always a good distraction from boredom eating too, I get lost in reading lots of posts.
I pledge to attend Monday morning weigh-ins, although the week after next we are abroad at a wedding, but if they've got scales I'll weigh and post as usual.
thank you to the admin team, you keep us all going x
Oh Fussybird, you can soon lose that by sticking to what you know works. I am dreading a week when I get a gain so I log everything down to make sure i do not exceed the calories on any day.
thanks John, its so disappointing, but ultimately a reality check. The weight goes on so easily, I wish I'd realised this years ago so I could have kept things in check.
Fussy Bird, You are so right, I think I was told years ago that as you get older the weight is harder to shift? I recently uncovered a photo of myself by a pool in Greece, on holiday, I was early 40s and looked pretty slim and fit so what happened? I blame my job first of all as it involved a lot of entertaining and staying away from home and the weight crept up on me. By my late 40s I lost a lot of weight using herbal life then moved abroad to live and work. The lifestyle there meant cheap food and booze and eating out a lot and quickly the weight came back on. I have been back in the UK for about a year now and this year though that enough is enough! So I am pleased with the results so far and being a part of this community is fantastic as the people are so motivational and inspirational that I know I can keep going and hit target this year and then to maintain.
absolutely, every year older we get, our metabolism slows a bit more. I can look back even 2 years ago, remembering how fat I felt then at 2st lighter than now.
my advice to my younger self would be chill the heck out, you're not fat, get out there and enjoy yourself.
until 2 years ago I had an active job, but since then have been desk based, mostly working from home, so the inactivity combines with being at home hasn't helped at all.
I have retrained so am starting to get out more, thank goodness, or boredom eating will finish me off!
Its time for me to take control as I'm on a slippery slope and accept the obvious, besides I feel so much better when I eat the right amount of calories, don't know why I sabotage myself for a few moments of tasty food.
I was 71.9kg last week and I'm 70.6kg this morning. Delighted as now it looks like I might make 70 by next week.
I have a new phone which counts my steps so I've been trying to do 10k a day - I have a totally sedentary job which I have to drive to, but I've been going out walking in the evenings. It's tricky to time it round feeding the family while not being v late, but it's exhilarating when I have managed it.
Also delighted that I started sewing a dress last summer but when I got to the fitting stage I realised it was far too tight, and threw it into a bag in the back of the cupboard. I retrieved it yesterday and finished it off, and I'll be wearing it to work very shortly! It's actually lovely, I'm so pleased (with myself!)
All I can think of KandC, is wow! What a fabulous week you've had. 1.3kgs lost, all that walking and a beautiful, new, handmade dress for work! I'm delighted for you
I'm sure that this week will be just as successful for you and that you'll get to 70kgs for your easter bunny challenge target
Reading your post made me think about all my unfinished sewing which has been abandoned for years and would never have fitted if I had finished it ,but now there is one particular dress which I started which had inverted panels in opposite colour fabric black and white which now has possibilities!! Have to finish stitching up a knitted chicken for easter present first, then I will investigate. I find the craft work keeps me occupied and not eating. Best wishes
I was just thinking about clothes, and your comment about taking all your clothes in. I have about 5 pairs of size 16 jeans and I'm a size 14 now, so I was thinking about taking them to be 'taken in' - as I really can't face trying to do that myself, as I suspect jeans are quite tough to alter. I'm going to take them to a tailor and see what price they'd charge to do all 5 pairs, because the price of jeans is expensive, so I can imagine I'd save money that way!
But as a matter of interest, do you think it's difficult to alter jeans? Maybe I should give it a go - but it seems like a nightmare, I am not experienced, and I'd have to borrow a sewing machine!
Jeans would be difficult to alter easily, I have taken in trousers by taking a couple of inches off the sides, they didn't look that great but it was enough to tide me over 😕
It's a difficult one isn't it? seems such a shame, see what they quote, but could end up being more than they cost 😕
Thanks Anna, I will see what they quote me. As I have quite long legs, I have to buy my jeans from 'tall girl/women' stores - which is limited. Hence, if can preserve the ones I have already, that would be my preference. I'll see what they say.
Thanks for your kind words - I was a size 18 at my largest, so it feels strange to be size 14, but I do like it!
Morning all from confused.com. Last Monday I weighed in at 166.2 as my starting weight, I had a reasonable first week in terms of calorie counting, averaging 1300 per day. On Saturday I weighed myself 164. Woo hoo. This morning I weighed in at 167.2. I am.thinking either my scales are off or change is linked to very erratic hormones I am having at present. My boobs currently feel like two basketballs.
Hi Fifi, unfortunately weight does tend to fluctuate and even more so when hormones are thrown into the mix! It sounds as though each boob has gained 1.6lbs since saturday! Not very comfortable!
Don't worry, by next week, everything will have settled down again and you should be showing a very healthy loss on the scales
Keep up the good work!
Hello, I joined the 12 weeks plan today and I'm just after a breakfast, my scale shows 85 kg at the moment. I hope to see 70 by the end of this plan. I think it's possible as I am planning to completely quit junk food (my weakness) and do something about my emotional overeating (happening so far everyday, if my stomac could talk it would say "fuck you, mamiyou"). And then I'll aim for 60.
I'm delighted that you've decided to join us and that you've shared your starting weight and goals
I believe you've read our welcome newbie post, so I hope to see you joining some, or all of our challenges and becoming active on the forum
Ditching junk food sounds like a terrific first goal and I think you'll find that if you keep logging on, you should find that you won't need to turn to food for emotional assistance, you can get it from us instead
All the best for your first week, 70kgs, here you come!
Morning all. Happy to report that I am 53.5 kg down 1.2kg on last week and ready to hit the beach in Mauritius on Saturday.
I am probably my lowest weight since pre having children and my boy is 32!
I won't be weighing in for a couple of weeks but will be straight back to maintaining when I get home, hopefully I won't gain too much but I am going to enjoy the culinary delights. I will also be active so let's hope one cancels out the other!
I can't believe that I have maintained below my goal for 6 months now .....I think that is more to celebrate than what I actually weigh today. I am not yo yoing anymore!
Those pesky monthlies...not only the reason for the tiny gain but I bet that was the reason your 'drive' was off too. With your positive attitude and determination, I am sure you will hammer it this week!
I won't be able to do daily pledges from tomorrow as I am away until Sunday with limited internet.
Perhaps you could do a daily pledge on here, and I will check in to see how you are doing? 😊
I am delighted to record my lowest weight yet 10stone 13.3lbs. Last week I was 11 00.2 so a loss of almost a pound! 0.9lb loss to be exact.
I am really pleased with that as although I was super focused in the week, the weekend was a bit off as I think a monthly is brewing.
Now, I am not really part of the Easter challenge but yesterday I reviewed my health diary and the goals I set on 4th Jan. I said I wanted to be 10 10 by 27th, a stone off. Normally in the past, I have set these goals and then been very disheartened to find all those weeks later that I am just the same. (Then I stuff my face with pain, hurt and guilt). Amazingly this time I am only 3.3lbs off it!!
Now to get to that weight when my losses so far average 1lb a week would be crazy, but do you know I am going to pull out all the stops this week! I pledge to you that I will get as bloomin close as I can! Come on lowcal let's see what we can do!
Unfortunately I am away at elderly parents so food wise it is difficult. However I will portion control, continue to avoid sugar and alcohol and try my best to avoid too many starchy carbs. Oh, and have berries for puddings too! The real change I will make this week is exercise. That is something I can easily do while away...if I focus.
I start 5x50 on 27th so this goal for this week will be like a warm up?
Also there will be plenty of beach walks so I will clock up some km hopefully for Fizzy and Moreless.
So gang...(wait for it...not said this before...but imagine a loud, film promoter voice with a slight echo 😊)
Just done week two and lost 8oz, so nothing really.
But, having said that, I have lost an inch from around my tummy so pleased really that as it's that dreaded 'time of the month' and I expected to gain.
8oz=half a pound = pack of butter. Therefore excellent progress. For me weight loss is lots of little losses - but they all add up in the end. See post on 4 July challenge- which adds it all up - what can be achieved.
You very sensibly did your measurements - and what the scales don't show can be seen in the waist line - so good news all round.
I only lost half a pound this week and was feeling a bit disappointed until I read your reply to Son1. If I think of it as a pack of butter I feel much better. To see a pack of butter and think of all the fat in it and to realise that I am now not carrying that amount around is not too bad at all. Thanks so much for turning my thoughts round suzybenj.
Well done to everyone, it seems to be going in very much the right way for you all, and even if you haven't lost actual weight, the mindset is there.
StephB, I'm in awe of your marathon training. Do you measure bodyfat as well as weight? With all that training you may find that your weight loss slows but it's because you are putting on extra muscle, scales that measure body fat will help you see this and keep you motivated even if the weight isn't going down. I was swimming hard in 2014 to lose weight and I'm glad I was measuring both as sometimes I stayed the same weight wise but would drop several % of fat. This time I'm using both and I'll aim for a healthy body fat ratio as BMI doesn't work for me so well - at my lightest and fittest I wasn't within healthy BMI and yet anymore off and I'd have started to look unwell.
I have weighed in this morning (weight and body fat). I'm not telling anyone yet, as I'm a lot bigger than most reporting in - in fact the weights being discussed here are amongst my goals! Ideally I have 8 stone to lose, but I'll take it one stone at a time.
I'm awaiting some tests back this week which could make a difference to what approach I take to my weight loss, I'm pretty sure my B12 is low again as I'm very low in energy and have a couple of good hours and then feel like I need to go back to bed.
However, I do want to do something, so my aim this week is to not buy any naughty stuff in. I will just stick to eating what's in the house - as we do sensible shops, and resist popping out for biscuits, cakes, chocolate and the like. This may not result in massive weight loss but will start getting me into some good practice, and is better than my current habits. I will eat more fruit instead.
Of course, it's Easter this weekend, so there will be some chocolate about, and family gathering en masse, but I will try to be choosy as to what I have.
Have a good week everyone, and watch out for the Easter Bunny!!!
You wait til you hear the success stories on here!
Some of these slim little fitties have lost the weight you are talking about! So don't feel you must hide that start weight, whatever it is we will all be here supporting you and cheering you on from the side lines.
I'm delighted that you've chosen to join us today Please don't feel that we're all tiny, because that isn't the case at all. When I started, I weighed 19st 10lbs and now weigh 15st 2.125lbs, just over 6 months later and still have over 4st to lose. There's no shame to a starting weight, because that's the biggest you'll ever be and you've already taken the steps necessary to start reducing it. Be proud of yourself, because what you're doing takes guts and determination!
You don't need massive weight loss, or huge changes to what you're eating. Sensible portions will lead to sensible losses.
Have a look at all the pinned posts, to the right of your screen for motivation and inspiration.
Do not worry , just keep going , the big thing is you started , you must never stop write it all down and keep a diary it will work. Its you who matters not anyone else. keep that in mind ,in 4months you could be 3 stone lighter, I am. Go half stone at a time plot a graph, don't waste any more time you will emerge like a butterfly x
Morning all Lowcal, sorry about your small gain but it is probably related to your time of month as it stopped you feeling like going to the gym etc.. I can relate - my period has finally arrived this morning, several days late, and I have had awful backache since Friday so haven't felt like doing anything exercise wise when I have stomach ache, exercise helps, but I just couldn't face it with backache! I have dropped right off with my steps - having got up to 30'000+ steps some days during the last week of 80 day challenge - this past week 15'000 was my absolute max.
I am now 17st8lbs so have lost 1lb since last week, I am happy with this as my exercise hasn't been as usual and I have not felt great the last 3 days (+premenstrual munchies!!)
My fitbit is on charge now and as soon as the boys go to school I'm going to drag my unsuspecting dog off the bed and out for a very long walk - won't come home til I've hit at least 10000 steps
I have committed to joining the gym this week to help complete the 5x50 charity challenge - eeeeek - totally out of my comfort zone!!!! Watch this space (hopefully for a much slimmer, toned and more confident me )
I see that Mother Nature's been trying to nobble you too, but you've managed to foil her evil plan, by losing a pound! Wtg you!
I hope you and the dog enjoy your long walk this morning and manage to hit the 10,000 steps mark
You are so brave to be going to the gym - well done you for being so committed to the 5 x 50 charity challenge, that you've stepped out of your comfort zone to complete it! I take my hat off to you
Sorry about your gain Lowcal, annoying, well I've maintained again 10st 8 1/4lb, despite on wed the scale said I'd lost 3/4lb, not sure how all that has changed.
Although I di feel my body 'puff up' and not go down.
It's my second week like this, despite changes, pretty annoyed............it makes all my effort seem fruitless
Don't be despondent Diana, because if you hadn't put the effort in, there's a very great chance that you would have gained! A maintain is always better than a gain
Keep plugging away and I'm sure you'll be rewarded on the scales soon
Hi Lowcal, I am sure you will reach your goal by next Monday. I am really pleased last week I weighed 11st 10.5lbs this week I weigh 11at 6.75lb a loss of 3.75lbs. Hoping I can keep this going and will now get back on track, and get to 11st soon. Have been fluctuating between 11.7 and 11.10.5 ever since Xmas. I only need to lose another stone to be in healthy range then I will be happy.
Morning Lowcal, Moreless, it's not been a good week for me! After the loss of my little dog, I've taken my eye off the ball and gained 1.5lbs. Hope I can get back into it!
They are totally part of the family aren't they? I totally understand your pain.
When I lost my last cat, with the exception of my dad, he really had been the most constant male in my life up to that point, and my most constant companion.
Big hugs to you Jesterpuss, I love my boys (of the four legged kind), and work with dogs and get to know and love my clients dogs too, and know what it means to lose a member of your furry family. xxx
It's understandable that you've taken your eye of the ball, as you've had such a lot to cope with last week, and you're understandably grieving for the sad loss of your lovely little dog. Just take it easy, and don't worry about the 1.5 pound gain, you need to look after yourself and that's the main thing. I am sure you will be able to get back into it - just keep making healthy choices, and I'd like to wish you well for this week ahead.
My 'like box' has also disappeared. I haven't seen it for a few days now. I think a few others have also experienced this strange 'lack of a like box' issue too. I will mention it again to the IT department. I'm waiting for them to get back to me about the fact I can't put this thread in the Events box currently, so hopefully I will have contact soon.
Hi Anna, thank you! Everyone's so kind, she was a very loved little dog (patterdale terrier) and really enjoyed her life - so I know we gave her the best life any dog could have and will have only good memories soon 😞
I still think of my cat years later. He was pretty old and fairly toothless in the end, but we went through so much together. At least 6 house moves, a country move, he knew I was pregnant both times before I did, and he knew when I was "down".
It will get easier, but for years I had nights when I woke up and I could have sworn he was asleep by my feet.
He was a stray when he found me, I wasn't looking for a pet, but he didn't let me go 😉
You will have some lovely memories and they will comfort you in time 😊
Ahh.. he sounded lovely! He was lucky to find you and you were lucky he did! You obviously went through a lot together! Pets give you so... much! Mine was always glad to see me and if I went out in the evening she wouldn't sit with my husband but lay at the top of the stairs waiting for me 😢
I do have happy memories but I miss her so much 😞 Thank you for your reply 😊
Hi lowcal, well done on a teeny tiny gain after your week out of routine. I hope this week is better for you as you are so close to getting into the 12's.
I was away on holiday last week and gained 3lbs putting me back at 14.10. I was surprised as I have done a lot of walking and tried to be careful. Having said that, I had a fantastic week, ate out a lot, ate healthily, made up for that by drinking more alcohol though!!
Back to normal life now and I will hopefully get rid of those holiday pounds soon....!
I hope you enjoyed your holiday, and well done for getting lots of walking in and making good choices. I think it's very easy to put on some weight during a holiday - like you say, there's always that extra alcohol, more meals out, and they all add up, but the fact you made healthy choices and you were more careful means you minimised the gain. You'll soon have that 3 pound off again, it should come off really quickly now you're back to your normal routine.
Have a great week!
Lowcal
Hi
I haven't weighed in for about a month.... was finding it difficult to get out of a rut and so took a month off the obsessing with calories and weight.
if Ok with everyone, rather than post a loss/gain since then, i'd like to start fresh with a new weight today?
I am so happy to see you here again - Welcome back!!!! I hope that you enjoyed your month off, and that you're returning feeling some optimism to go forward.
Of course you can start with a fresh new weight today - that's a very sensible way to re-start, as you've been away from the Monday group weigh-ins, and essentially we'll put you down in the stats as a 'newbie' again - a fresh start!
I hope you felt ok sharing your starting weight, as I know that's always a daunting step when you've not shared it for a while.
I would like to wish you a really great 'first' week ahead, and I hope it goes really well. I don't know if you celebrate Easter or not, but it might be good to think of a 'plan' to help you cope with that festivity, as it will be a tough first week to cope with otherwise...!
Pre-armed is forewarned, and pre-planning can be really effective! Those Easter bunnies and eggs - all chocolatey will be 'out there' waiting to ambush us, so we need a plan to negotiate the terrain safely and hopefully ensure 'damage limitation' (to quote Suzybenj's great phrase).
Thanks! I still have one chunk of chocolate every day, so I deal with my desire for chocolate like that, and I really savour it, and don't tend to feel deprived anymore.
Good morning Lowcal and everyone. I'm sorry to hear you had a tiny gain this week Lowcal, but maybe it was a case of damage limitation. I also felt that way this week as my strength got off to a bad start and I only did 1 run, although I did manage two cycle days. My busy schedule is getting the better of me at the moment, but luckily this seems to have benefited me in some other way (I think basically I'm too busy to snack!) as I've lost 1lb this week. This means my weight now begins with a 9 - 9st13 I'm now 2lbs away from my new maintaining range of 9st8-9st11. I'd very much like to get there in the next couple of weeks, so my goal for this week is to lose 1-2lbs. It's worth aiming high I think!
I'm just now fitting in an hour of one of my jobs before heading into work for another job, and then more to do in the evening when I get home. So I have to run away now sorry! Thanks for doing the stats for me again this week Lowcal, and I will post a week 3 report for strength as soon as I can. Without this forum I don't know if I'd manage any of this of course! Keep motivating each other everyone
I hope you're enjoying your new job and I know you're facing an extremely busy schedule just now, so it's good that it's had some positive impact on your weight - too busy to snack. Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, that is soooo great!!! You're in the 9's. Wooop wooop!!!! Only 2 pounds away from your new maintaining range - that is so great.
Hope you have a great day - managing those two jobs, and I'll look out for your Week 3 Strength Challenge report - as it will definitely keep me on track for next week!
Here's to a motivating week for us all. Onwards and downwards!
Hi, a bad week for me. 2lb gain so back to 10.12. This shouldn't really surprise me after a week of eating too much of the wrong things - but as always it does! I think the key thing is to keep going, not give up and to keep things under control over Easter.
I think you're right, the key thing is to keep going, not give up and keep things under control over Easter - your 2 pound gain this week doesn't have to scupper your overall progress, and you can keep it on track - so hopefully this week will be a really good week, and you'll soon get rid of those couple of pounds.
I hope you have a really great week ahead. Keep an eye on the kind of foods you're choosing, and the portion sizes, and maybe pre-plan a bit - as that can help with ensuring you have the things you 'choose' rather than those more spontaneous choices that we can all make - and sometimes regret later.
Hi all I was very weary of getting weighed today just felt like I'd done badly, but no, 3lb off and under 14 now 13st 12 woop woop!!! I'm still writing everything down and keeping calories below 1500. Hope every one else is doing well xxxx
That is amazing that you were very wary of getting on the scales today, and yet you have actually lost 3 whole pounds!!!! Congratulations!!! It just shows how you can't always tell what the outcome will be - and it's fantastic to hear you're into the 13's - Wow, that's great!!!!
Your diligence is paying off, and you've got a great result. Wishing you another great week ahead.
Morning- feeling surprisingly chipper considering I have not lost what I have gained last week. Also confusing myself as I was 12 4 on Friday and today 12 5. So technically I have lost half a pound since last Monday - but had smashed it by Friday. Then undid all the hard work by a delicious Thai meal out and an impromptu big Sunday lunch - can't say I have any regrets
Keeping up with asiacs- aiming for super effort between now and 31 March.....aiming for 12 stone
Morning! Glad you're feeling chipper - I wonder if Spring is in the air, as I also woke up feeling much brighter than I've felt in a while! You've lost 0.5 pounds since last Monday, and that's really great!!! Congratulations!!! You enjoyed your delicious Thai meal and the impromptu big Sunday lunch as well, and still lost weight - that's fantastic!!!
Yes, here's to 'super effort' for this week ahead.
Last week i was 15.314 st and this week i am 15.275st. Not much loss but to my surprise it still is a loss considering what I was going through last week. Not much difference but still a loss is a loss. And like you I feel very optimistic too this Monday and will hopefully be a better loser this week.
Good morning everyone! Bad weeks are just terrible Lowcal, but you are living proof that they are just a glitch and I'm pleased that you woke up feeling more positive today! You can smash those 2 pounds for Easter Monday
It's a loss this week 88.5 last week 87.8 this week! 0.7k down and I'm very pleased with that indeed.
Yes, it did feel like a bit of a tough week, and I'm glad I feel more positive today! Like you say, those kind of weeks are just a glitch, so moving forward it's good not to dwell on them - they are already in the past afterall. I'll take your advice and smash those pounds for Easter Monday!!!
Wow, you've done really well this week, losing 0.7 kgs. Fantastic!!! Many Congratulations!!! I can understand you're pleased with such a great result.
my weight this week is 14 stone 1.5lb which means I've lost 0.5 lb. Better than nothing and to be honest I don't know how I've done it. I've eaten what I wanted and even had double lunch one day as I was so hungry.
Hopefully this week will be the same or better. Easter might prove to be a problem but hubby and I have said no buying big easter eggs for each other and only buy a pack of crème eggs between us.
It's great that you've lost 0.5 pound this week, really well done!!! It is definitely much much better than nothing, and as you said, you've eaten very well this week, and you've lost half a pound. Imagine it on a plate - represented as half a pound of butter or lard, and you can see what an achievement that is to lose that amount of weight.
It's great that you and your hubby have already discussed a plan for minimising the potential challenges of Easter - buying smaller eggs, and limiting the number of them you're allowing yourselves is definitely a good option! That was how I coped with previous years, but this year I've gone a step further, as I'm going to allow myself a hot cross bun or something similar...! I've not completely decided what it will be yet, but likely that it will be something like that. There is a bakery I can go to where I can buy individual hot cross buns, so there's no danger of eating more if I only buy them individually! (That's the plan....!)
Hope you have a really great week.
Lowcal
It's tough trying to get out of the13 s Isn't it? I was hoping to be down a bit lower this week so I.d have leeway for Easter but it was not to be. Maintenance this week at 12 St 12.75 lbs.
It certainly is!!!! Those 13's like to keep hold... but I will hopefully break free of them and tumble into the 12's before long!!!
Well done to you for maintaining your weight this week. I know you hoped to lose some, but I really believe maintaining is so much better than gaining, and should therefore be celebrated. But hopefully you will lose for next week, all being well. It all depends on how we all cope with Easter (to those of us who celebrate it) - so it could be good to think of a plan to help you get through it - but maybe you have already thought of something, and are 'prepared' - I hope so! Good luck!
Good morning Lowcal and well done on almost having a maintain! Gaining just 400 grams is good considering. I think I would have gone back to bed for an hour and weighed myself again
So I will report my figures for the week. I started at 16st 2lbs and this morning weighed 16st 0lbs, so a loss of 2lbs for the week and this means I have now lost 10% bodyweight since starting so I am really pleased with that. Losing an average of around 2.5lbs a week so my next target is to get into the 15s.
The tale of the tape also shows that I have lost a total of 17.5 inches with my "waist" measurement dropping 5 inches to 43"
So, my targets for this week are to get into the 15s by next Monday. Easter should not present me with any chocolate problems as most grandkids live 250 miles away! I still have lots of gardening to be getting on with, more like labouring than gardening to be honest, and I am also trying to reduce my carbohydrate intake.
It was tempting to wait to weigh myself later, but I had to be here for the Monday group weigh-in before 6.30am, and I was therefore 'committed' to sharing the weight at that time - at least I do a consistent weigh-in time each week!!! (I do however also weigh myself daily, which will hopefully be quite positive this week, as I am hoping to get a larger drop in weight - I feel it is imminent!!!).
I am totally impressed by your results - you've lost 2 pounds this week, and achieved a 10% drop in your total body weight - wow!!! You are losing weight steadily and at a good rate, and you are on the cusp of the 15's. How exciting!!!
Glad that Easter won't be presenting you with too many Challenges, as that is good. Good luck with all that 'labouring' in the garden, and also on decreasing your carbs. I was pleased that the new Eatwell Guide was advocating choosing wholegrain and wholemeal carbs (i.e. complex rather than simple) as that is they way I've always gone in terms of choosing my carbs, and I think it's really healthy. Avoiding the simple carbs is great advice.
Hi all, I've lost 1lb overall this week- by last Thursday I had lost 3lb but that was due to being poorly and I regained most of it over the weekend. Doh!
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, that is really great! I am sorry to hear you've been poorly last week though, and I hope you're feeling better now. I suspect the 1 pound loss is the healthier weight loss amount, as the earlier drop in weight was probably due to your ill-health, so it's good that you have lost gradually overall. It's a great result to lose 1 pound, so be proud!
Hopefully you'll have a great week ahead, now that you're hopefully feeling much better.
Why is it you have one those weeks where you've eaten all the right stuff and done all the right and you gain. Then weeks where you are convinced you've gained by eating all the wrong stuff and you've either lost or maintained. The human body is a strange thing.
14th Mar 2016: Weight: 10st 2.5lbs
21st Mar 2016: Weight: 10st 2.5lbs
So that's a maintain this week for me.
Will keep on plugging with the step count before the Easter school holidays take over.
I agree that the human body can be a complex and wonderful thing, and it doesn't always give us the results we're anticipating!!! But you've maintained your weight, which is much better than gaining, so really well done!
Great that you're planning to keep plugging on with the step counts before the Easter school holidays. I hope you enjoy all those steps.
Good Morning everyone! So I've made my official weigh in day Friday as I usually find I weigh heavier on a Monday, beat myself up about it and have a bad day which can turn into a bad few days/week! Having said that this was when I was 'dieting'!
Anyway I thought I would like to join in the Mon weigh in to help spur me on!
So I started CC 18 days ago now and weighed 9st 12..and weigh 9st 4lbs this am (weighed 9st 6lb Fri). MFP told me I'm 52% to my healthy weight. That's my goal for now. I would prob like to get to the middle of my healthy weight range to make sure I don't slide back but I will revaluate that then. I'm so chuffed with myself. ..even had Chicken and Black Bean Sauce and later a small choc treat Sat night (all within my calories phew)! That in itself is a victory as it's that time of the month..I felt really rough and had bad back and stomach cramps and sugar cravings. .usually I would've fell off the wagon big time cuz all I want to do is wrap up on the sofa and comfort eat but I didn't succomb (well only a little!).
It's lovely that you've decided to join us and that you've shared your starting weight and goals (I shall leave it up to Lowcal to decide whether, or not, to use 9st 4lbs as your start, with no losses) However, the fact that you've already lost 8lbs is terrific! Well done you!
You've had a fantastic week, considering all that you've had to deal with. Brilliant stuff!
Keep up the good work and here's to another great week
I'm just doing the weekly stats, and I've counted you as a newbie for our stats, as you've just started with us in the Monday group, but Congratulations on your fantastic weigh-loss to date. You're doing really well, and I hope your sugar cravings are subsiding, as you hoped.
you will get there just keep counting. I have been stuck for several days where it wont move even a quarter of a pound and then it does. we went away for weekend as it was my birthday ,almost dread going anywhere especially without my scales but know if I don't weigh every day it is so easy to go up. I know how bad I feel for the day if I don't go down but realistically if I am counting I know I will go down if my input and output don't balance, obviously got to be right direction!! So going slowly now last week was 10. 103/4 this week 10.10 only 3/4 lb down but still heading for 10. 7 for easter sunday which I have doubts I will make at the current rate so may be a may day challenge but I will get there eventually and hopefully a bit under so that there is a 3lb leeway! Keeping this off is going to be really difficult, I will be needing advice from Trafford and others who have maintained ! Hope you have a good week feeling positive and thanks for all your efforts to help all of us x
Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you had a really lovely time, and that you enjoyed your weekend away. It's great to hear that your weight is slowly going down, and that you've lost 0.75 pound this week, that is really great!!!
The good thing about the Monday group is that we do have several members who have 'maintained' (like Trafford1, 2bFabnfit, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Prin, Diana, and many more people - I also include myself in that as I've been in the healthy BMI for about a year and a half now, so feel I'm 'maintaining' too). So hopefully you'll have plenty of support to maintain within the group. I've missed out some people there, as my memory fails me for recalling all the maintainers.
Wishing you a great week ahead. You're doing really well.
Lizzie, a 3/4lb loss when you're so close to your goal, is absolutely fantastic! Just 3lbs left to go, I can only imagine how exciting that must be for you! Don't worry about whether you reach it by easter, or may day, because, to be honest, you're just about a maintainer now!
You're an inspiration to us all. You've worked so hard to get to this point and I know you'll work just as hard at maintaining
Have a fab week and we'll see how close we get to hitting our easter bunny challenge targets
Morning everyone. I started the week very well and on my sneaky mid-week weigh in I had lost 1.3 kg, but then we went away for the weekend to London and all diets went out the window. Didn't help that I got my monthly visit from mother nature as well. I went to step on the scales this morning and the battery was dead, so I really don't know if I've gained or not. I won't be able to get batteries this morning so win't know before tomorrow. If it is Ok I will report my actual weight tomorrow?
Good morning! I hope you enjoyed your weekend in London. I can understand that things were put on the back-burner for a weekend in London, it's such a great place, and so many amazing places to eat at. So you also had your Monthly Mother Nature visit too - I hope you coped ok!
Sorry to hear your battery has gone dead on your scales. How frustrating is that!!!
Of course it's fine to report your weight tomorrow - I will check the thread at some point tomorrow, so rest assured that your result will be counted in our stats, and good luck for tomorrow's weigh-in.
Have a great day in the meantime. Your mid week weigh suggests you had a great start, so make the most of today, and you will potentially have minimised any gains that might have occurred as a result of the London weekend.
Just the one pound off this week, but a loss nonetheless!
The 3 spin classes were cancelled this week, although I did substitute that with more walking. Maybe I wasn't as disciplined with my meals. Not sure. Double effort next week!
9.10am I've managed to work out how to fix the problem of posting the thread in the Events section - it didn't like the fact I had a hyphen in the title of the post, so once I changed that, it posted fine. So I've let the IT/Tech people know that we're sorted on that issue, but I have also told them about the fact that some (if not all) of us can't see our 'Like' boxes anymore, so asked if they could help us out with that.
I wondered what had happened to my like box, thought it was probably never there lol Weigh in later, normal time weekly is 11am for me. May be a tiny bit earlier. Being hopeful
I've stayed the same this week 17st 2lbs. Fortunately I was warned this might happen as I lost a lot last week. I'm trying really hard this week to lose 2lbs to make it one stone that I've lost.
I'm glad I pre-warned you of that possibility, as at least it's not too much of a surprise. You did have a large loss last week, and it's fantastic to hear you've maintained that loss, so Congratulations for doing that. Sometimes, weight can go up a bit after a larger loss, so I think you've done really well this week to maintain.
I would like to wish you success with your goal to lose 2 pounds this week, and also suggest you think about Easter - as it could be a potential scupperer - so don't let it scupper your progress, maybe think of a plan of action to help you cope - assuming you're celebrating Easter - maybe you're not, in which case it won't be a problem. I say that, even for people not celerbating it, the supermarkets seem stuffed with products related to Easter themes, so it's hard to avoid it...!
Didn't lose anything this week, but didn't gain either. Have had a really stressful, busy week so basically had to eat and exercise as and when. Fresh start this morning though 🙂
It's great that you are having a fresh start this morning, as that sounds like a really great start to the week. Also, it's good that you've maintained your weight this week, despite having had a really stressful and busy week - often we can gain weight under stressful circumstances, so you've done well to maintain in those circumstances.
Hope you have a less stressful week ahead, and that you enjoy your week.
I’ve just discovered this plan, so this is my first week. I’ve been trying to lose weight by myself but it’s just not working … so am hoping this plan and the support will spur me on!
I’ve weighed in at 12 stone 8lb this morning – my highest weight ever so am keen to get going … My first goal is to be under 12 stone, then I want to be under a BMI of 25 ... then hopefully a bit more ....
I'm delighted that you've decided to join us today and that you've shared your starting weight and goals with us
I'm sorry that your solo attempt to lose weight hasn't worked, so far and really hope that the 12 week plan and our support will get you off the starting blocks
Have a look at our welcome newbie thread and all the challenges that are running currently, as they're all really motivating. You can find them in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen
Looking forward to seeing you out and about on the forum and in our group activities.
Have a fab first week
I had a very good week excluding saturday when we had a mini celebration as im back for a month. Cant remember last weeks weoght but it was definitely in the 84kg bracket and im now 83.2
I am just off to the gym (see, I'm keeping my pledge this week!), but Moreless is here, and I will be back later, so will look forward to reading everyone's posts when I get back. Some really inspiring posts today - hope you are all having a great morning so far. I'm off to do some kms and exercise.
Sometimes the week just runs away from you and no time for exercise Lowcal, but don't fret, sun is shining and you will make it this week.
Well done moreless on the waist loss, it is even better in cms
I am happy to say I have made it into the 10's at last, !0st 13llbs so now a loss of one stone by week 9
I lost just 1llb last week but I spent all of Saturday in a cookery school, tasting, eating and drinking too and no exercise whatsoever so I am happy
Been keeping up my kms for 'Under the sea' but all on terrafirma so far, no sight of swimming pool yet
The 12 week plan is great as it is easy to keep focussed, because nothing is forbidden, just counted and monitored so that you can do the right thing.
I am not feeling like I am on a diet that is depriving me so nothing to put me off and 'give up'. Just keep doing the right thing as much as you can and try and make up for the times when you do the wrong thing, but no bad feelings. Stay positive and healthy and happy!
Well done for losing 1lb this week, especially as you had a day at cookery school (how fantastic, I'm so jealous! )
I'm so pleased you feel that way about the 12 week plan. I think if what you're doing, eating wise, doesn't feel like a diet, then it's easily sustainable for life - so handy for when you become a maintainer
Well done for continuing to kick the K's, but don't fret about the swimming pool, it'll happen one day
Thanks for the words of encouragement, you're right, it does sound better in cms!
Morning Lowcal, Im sad this morning as it has increased from 13.9.9 to 13.10.3, Ive been good foodwise but it must be the previous week catching up with me. I wish you well in your quest Lowcal for Easter goal. I hope moreless was successful. Have a great week Everyone.
Don't be sad Marianne and don't lose heart. Those fickle scales have minds of their own and rarely tell us what we want to hear. You stick to plan and those pounds will disappear forever
I managed to lose 0.875lb and 1/2" off my waist. Every little counts
Here's hoping that next week those scales will show a lovely result for both of us
Oh many thanks moreless. So very well done on your losses and achievements, good going. Im also sad because we have been gazumped on the bungalow we were going for and cant go higher, pleased that I havent just caved in. Have a great week.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the bungalow, but I'm a great believer that everything happens for a reason. You weren't meant to get that bungalow, because there's something much better waiting for you
All the very best to you and thanks for your encouraging words
Thank you Lowcal, it was devastating and I am coming to grips with it and lost my mojo but its coming back. Being very good and not eating chocolate eggs and have resisted hot cross buns. Hope your Easter is going well. Mx
Not too bad so far, thanks. Eaten a hot cross bun yesterday and will have another today, but so far no other extras. But I know we're only half-way through the weekend, so still challenges ahead.
Glad to hear your mojo is coming back. I believe in karma so I hope that you will get some good stuff coming your way very soon!
Lost just 1 lb in 3 weeks!!! I guess its better than gaining!
I'm only 5lb from a 'healthy weight' and I think it gets harder the closer you get? It was much easier to loose weight at first ...I'd like ideally to loose 12lb more but that feels impossible right now.
I know how frustrating it is Jaycoy, but you're right, it is harder the closer you get to your ideal weight, look at poor Lowcal for proof of that and you are still headed in the right direction, albeit slowly
Nothing's impossible, you just need to be patient. Even at this rate, you'd be at your goal for christmas, in time to buy that gorgeous, sparkly number
oh dear, I seem to be slowing down a bit. Still the weight is down by all of 400gms - which is 400gms less than last week. Today i'm 64.7kg having been 65.1kg last week monday. i'm going to do everything I can to be 64kg next week monday weigh in....
I hope everyone else has done better than me and has bigger losses to report. have a great week this coming week and lets stay focused together...
I have lost nearly 2 lb this week! Was 11 st 13 2 and now I am 11 st 11 6. I even had a slice of chocolate cake (bought into work by a colleague) but cut back on everything else that day to compensate. I am now only 6oz from having a 'normal' BMI so feeling positive!!
Plenty of losses in the thread this morning! It is nice to see we're all plodding away together!
I'm feeling pleased with myself this morning also. Another loss on the scales! Yes! A loss of 2.6lbs brings me down to 12st 9.2lbs.
I am so pleased the last few weeks have been a loss and that I'm firmly in the 12's now.
Although, I am a little worried about Easter. Chocolate is my weakness and even though i havent had any for 6 weeks with lent, I feel like I am going to stuff my face when that finishes Thursday! Mondays weigh in is probably going to be a gain! I will do my best though!
Fingers crossed for a good week. Enjoy Easter everyone!
Another week - third??- stuck at 11 stone 4 pounds or thereabouts! So, this week I am going to try the 5:2 diet if I can- beginning today and not go mad on the days between, as I seem pretty good at maintaining but not losing!! It will also mean cutting down on the wine which will be good for me...
Easter is bit difficult - i won't have any chocolate bought for me but it is my daughter's tempting Easter eggs lying around that will be hard- it is so difficult when temptation is there! Yesterday w e were invited up to our neighbours' flat for lunch and guess what I wa s presented with a huge plate of tortilla chips right in front of me, and houmous, breaded chicken, sausage rolls and blinis-and wine. I managed to resist as much as I could but it is so much better simply not to be presented with it. AAAARGH
Ah well good luck LowCal with the goal (a tough one!) and hang on in there!
Oh heck tubbycat, what a pest, but a maintain is still better than a gain!
Temptation is a difficult one and it is definitely easier to abstain when not physically confronted with the offending articles. Well done for not going nuts!
Good luck with the 5:2 diet, I believe some people have had excellent results with it and if it helps to cut down your wine consumption, it can only be a good thing
Looking forward to next monday and seeing whether you've managed to kick start your weight loss again
I think the scales like to tease us merrymanda, I feel as if I've been stuck around the 15st mark, as you're stuck around the 14st mark. It's as if they don't want us to break through the barrier and get into the stone below.
Let's go all out to teach them a lesson and both break through the barrier for next monday
So today is officially my first day of starting the calorie controlled diet, week zero, I'm weighing in at 12 stones, fingers crossed for the next week. Good luck to the rest of you
I'm glad you found us in the end and that you've shared your starting weight with us
Take a look at the pinned posts section at the right of your screen, there are a number of motivational threads there, including our welcome newbies pack and a number of excellent challenges.
I hope you'll join us in our group activities and be active on the forum
Here goes another gain 15st 5lb 6ozs now 15st 6lbs 2oz i haven't done anything different in the last 2 weeks other than put my gabipentin up for my pain, onwards and downwards hopefully good luck to everyone 👍
Hi everyone! Sorry about the lateness of joining but I have to do the school run before I can sign on (and today my youngest is off school!). My name is Kirsten and I am a newbie so this is my first weigh in. I am horrified about how much weight I have put on. I weigh more than I did when I was 9 months pregnant! My starting weight is 16st 8lbs gulp! My waist is 48 inches. My main target is to get down within the healthy BMI range for my height of 5ft 6ins by the time I turn 50 in June 2017. My first realistic target I am going to aim for is 2lbs this week.
You're not late at all! The thread will run all day today and people will keep adding to it, for the next couple of days
We're delighted that you've joined us and that you've shared your starting weight and your goals with us
Please don't feel bad about your weight now, as it's the highest it's ever going to get and you've made the brave decision to do something about it now. To hopefully make you feel better, I've lost over 4.5st and I still haven't got down to my heaviest pregnancy weight yet!
Please try and find the time to look at the pinned posts section to the right of your screen, where you'll find our welcome newbie thread and several motivational challenges, which we'd love you to join us in
I was also heavier than my 9 month pregnancy weight, you are not alone!
Have you found an eating plan that suits you and fits in with your lifestyle? That seems to be the key 😊
Calorie counting works for me, generous allowance and increasing exercise as I get fitter, creating good habits for permanent health. 😊
My initial aim was 5% and I felt so much better for it that carried me on 😊
Good luck!
Anna
Morning everyone- what a gorgeous day outside! (well it is down here lol)
Some amazing weight losses on here again this week- wow!
Lowcal- i'm sure you'll be into the 12's once your water weight goes so hang in there (and thank you for supporting all of us no matter what youre going through)
ML - after your massive weekend of exercise you'll probably drop the excess water from your healing muscles and get a good result next week on the scales- and again thank you for supporting us all : )
I've had a pretty good week this week i've exceeded my 2 stones goal and lost 5 lbs this week so i'm over the moon with that... now ive just got to destroy the final 3 stones and 1 lb of lard to meet my goal by July 4th : )
Woohoo MR! 5lbs this week and more than 2st overall is phenomenal! WTG you!
I'm sure that you have the drive and determination to lose the rest of your excess weight, but the jury's out on whether you'll manage it in 15 weeks I really hope you can, but would hate for you to be disappointed if you can't
Yes i know 3 stones 1lb in 15 weeks seems pretty challenging but i'm determined ML and whether i hit it or not i have no intention of looking back and thinking bloody hell if i'd just worked a bit harder i might've hit my goal so the way i see it- if i aim for that big number and i give it my best ive got nothing to lose but pounds- and if it takes longer so be it- but i'll give it 100% anyway because i think 3lbs per week is feasible at my current size- what happens next god only knows but ive got everything crossed in eager anticipation and i'll deal with anything less as it comes to me : )
ML if i only lose a stone between now and then i'll be bloody happy lol but i have one of those heads that likes to reach for the moon and if i'm lucky i hit a star- for example i aim for 4lbs loss per week every week (its written big on my fridge!) i rarely hit the -4 but it motivates me to push for more and i'm content with 2-3 per week- hope that makes sense? i can lose weight- my challenge is maintenance- and thats where i want to put my focus- i think youve posted the same thing before : )
Sorry about your gain but as Moreless said it is a minuscule gain and as usual you are very upbeat about it so that's reassuring. I hope you will reach your goal of getting to 12 st 12 by next week!
Today I was weighing 69.4kg compared with 70.1 last week so that is a loss of 700g or 1.5pound. I am very happy about that. My BMI is now of 24.5 and my aim is to get to 22.5 so still quite a few kgs to go. But to weigh 153 pounds exactly today compared to my starting 14 stones (196lbs) is great. That's 10 st 13 pounds. I am soooo pleased about that because my next goal after reaching a healthy weight was to lose exactly 3 stones and I have done that now. So for now I shall be trying to carrying on losing until I am not so close to the limit. This week at one point (I weigh myself every day) I was weighing more than my cut-off weight and was therefore temporarily back to "overweight". Although I knew this would be temporary but I still did not like it. It motivated me even more to lose more weight until I am not so close to the edge...If only for my mental health!
Thank you so much for your support and words of encouragement last week when I finally reached my healthy range, I was overwhelmed with the positive messages and support, thanks everyone!
Woohoo Nussaybah! Into the 10's and 3st total loss! What a fantastic achievement!
You've reached so many goals and now you're virtually a maintainer! I understand what you mean about not wanting to be so close to the edge and that a few more pounds would see you comfortably in the healthy weight range
You are so inspirational Nussaybah, that you deserve every word of encouragement, support and congratulation that you get
I am right behind you, hoping for under 70 by May 😊
it's so inspiring hearing of other people's success. 😊
And my 1lb is back again! I have had a couple of days away so maybe in fact no maybe I did drink a fair amount and eat cheese lots of cheese! So here's to next week. However on happy note I found a new bra I had bought now fits. It initially cut my circulation of so I had put it in my holiday bag, wouldn't say it's the most comfy but I could still breathe.
Oh dear Pilpala, it appears that 1lb likes you a great deal and is very reluctant to leave you!
You obviously know where you slipped up a little, so that means a small amount of tweaking will hopefully see the end of that pound forever!
I've recently resurrected a bra too, which is just as well, as my other ones were literally swinging from my shoulders I'm so pleased that yours allows for breathing now, I always find that such a useful commodity
I have yet to lose weight and kept my 150lbs. Its spring break so I have been back home for the past 11 days, the place in which I overeat the most. I ate healthy foods in excess but did a few of my required track workouts. I am headed back to campus now hoping to actually make progress this week with both running and shot put practice through heavy strength training along with sticking to my 1300 cal count.
A maintain is always better than a gain Madison, particularly when you're at home and the temptation is there to seriously over-indulge! Well done you!
Oh my goodness, your training schedule sounds rigorous and that coupled with sticking to your eating plan, must see a loss on the scales next week
Congratulations on losing 1.1 pounds this week, that is really great! Another half inch off your bust, and half inch off the arm area - wow, a whole inch off your hips - you're doing brilliantly.
Actually I've just seen that you've written that you've lost 2.1 pound, and I've worked out that 14 stone 3 pounds was last week, and this week you're 14 stone 1.9 pounds, which makes 1.1 pound? So we differ - can you just confirm it again - am I right, or are you? I can get things wrong relating to Maths, but I think it's 1.1 pound. Please do confirm for our stats, as it makes a difference. Either way it's an excellent loss.
Last week I was 15,7 and today I am 15,5 so a 2lb loss. Very happy about that. It's still going to be a challenge to get to 14,13 by my birthday but I have 3 weeks so it's certainly not impossible.
Your goal of 2.8lb loss is definitely possible too Lowcal - especially with all that work at the gym! Go for it! : )
Wow, that is a great loss, Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, that is really brilliant!
It can be good to challenge ourselves sometimes, so just do the best you can to achieve your goal by your Birthday, and that way you'll hopefully be very close, even if you haven't got there - but maybe you will...!!! There's definitely a possibility, so you go for it!
I'm only setting myself a larger goal this week because I have not had a loss for a couple of weeks, and I think I'm due a larger one - and also I want to really challenge myself to enable me to achieve my Easter target - sometimes I work well with a sense of some 'deadline' - so I hope these things will all help. I've just got back from a good gym session, so I'm already 'half-way' through my weekly pledge in terms of attending the gym. One more session and I'll be there, and any further sessions will be bonuses!!! I didn't make it at all last week.
Thanks for your encouragement, and I am so happy to hear your great progress and I'd like to wish you success with your goal and another great week ahead.
Hi guys sorry didnt post my weight last week as was disappointed i feel a bit better. 13st.2lbs this week. so hoping to lose 1.5 lbs nest week so can be in the 12st area.
I am glad to hear you're feeling a bit better this week. It's a pity you didn't post last week though, as maybe we might have been able to help to cheer you up. Your weight is 13 stone 2 pounds today, and good luck with losing 1.5 pounds for next week, so you can be in the 12's - hope you have a good week, and that you enjoy it.
You sound very positive so I am sure you will achieve your goal this week.
For me, I have gained 1lb (I am now 11st 12lbs). I keep jumping around that mark. I need to put in some effort to get some exercise but I am still trying to shake off this cold so have not done any this week. I am hoping that if I just give myself a small push I can get going again so planning on a bit of a power walk this evening.
Yes, I am a lot more positive today - but last week I was a bit in the doldrums, so it's much better to be facing this week afresh.
It sounds like you're fluctuating up and down a bit - like you say, around the mark, and hopefully that 1 pound extra will be a sign of the past again by next week. Shaking off a cold is tough, so I hope you can get rid of the cold so you can focus and enjoy your week. Don't overdo things before you feel better though, as you can sometimes end up taking longer to recover as a result - I learned this the hard way last year, when I ended up with chest infections in February or thereabouts which were very difficult to shift.
Hope you have a great week ahead, and enjoy your walk tonight, but pace yourself.
Great, that's a good loss, and I'm glad you're happy with it. Like you say, slow and steady does win the race, and it's a good pace too. Reliable and consistent.
Thank you for joining us today in the Monday group weigh-in - you are very welcome, and I do hope it will be helpful for you. If you would like to share your starting weight with us, then please do so, but that is optional, so only do that if you feel comfortable to do so. Have a read through the opening post for the advice to Newbies - in terms of perhaps taking note of your body measurements too, and also setting yourself some short-term goals to lead up to your longer-term weight loss goal.
Also, do have a look at the Pinned posts on the homepage (top right-hand-side of that page), as there are some useful posts and lots of Challenges taking place in the forum as well.
Look forward to catching up with you at future weigh-ins.
Don't worry - we're here - and the Afternoon/Evening session is also up and running now, you're never too late on a Monday. We're here all day and all evening too!
Fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, and that you've achieved a total loss of 4 pounds in 3 weeks, that is really really great!!! Congratulations!!!
You're sounding positive and motivated, and so I wish you another great week ahead, and hope you have a really good week.
You're not late at all shortcake, but just keep an eye out for the afternoon post, because sometimes the morning one can get a bit glitchy if too many people post on it
A 1lb loss this week and 4lbs over the 3 weeks, is far from shabby, I would say it's excellent! Well done you!
It's great that you've decided to join us and that you've shared your starting weight with us
Take a look at all the threads in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen, particularly the welcome newbies thread. There's a link within it to the 12 week plan, in case you're interested
You'd be very welcome to join in any, or all of the challenges that are running
Watch out for the latest thread for the weigh-in next monday, as there is always a new one posted at around midday, to alleviate any technical problems caused by the thread being over full. The latest can always be found in the events section, or Lowcal will leave a link on the morning thread
Great that you came back and shared your starting weight, it's good to see you again, and I hope that felt ok to do that. Are you going to follow the NhS 12 week plan? It is a great plan, and has helped many of us to achieve our mini goals, and work towards the end goal - and I hope you'll have a really good week.
Look forward to catching up with you in future weigh-ins.

Hello wisecat 😊 I am also 5'1" and currently just under 73 kg, have slimmed down from 86kg, I am hoping for 65kg same as you. I go to Spain in 8 weeks so would like to get comfortably under 70 by then 😊
This was not just due to the 5:2 diet, which I did, 'fasting' (eating low cal snacks because of my diabetes) for 18 hours on both Tuesday and Thursday.
But also, at my lymphedema appointment, they decided to bandage me, and are going to do the same 3 times this week. That looks as though a lot of lymph has gone...
Anyway...I am pleased..it's a bit of a boost, and as I find the 5:2 diet easy, I will be carrying on, hopefully longterm.
Good luck to everyone else....I am not expecting to lose at this rate any more !
Yes, you are in the right place. I remember you joined us last week, and it's great to see you again! Wow, you've lost 8 pounds in your first week, that is absolutely fantastic!!! Congratulations! What a great start.
Great to hear that your lymphedema appointment went well and that they have managed to drain a lot of lymph.
Glad you're finding the 5:2 diet easy, and that it is suiting you.
I'm glad you're not expecting to lose similar amounts in future, as that would probably not be the case - it's normal to lose quite a bit of water weight at first, plus you have had your bandaging too, so probably more fluid lost (as you said).
But like you also said, it's a fantastic boost to have such a great starting result.
Woohoo Chrissie! 8lbs is a staggering amount of weight to lose in one week! WTG you!
How wonderful that they bound your leg and that you've lost a lot of the lymphatic fluid, it must be such a relief to you! Let's hope that with continued bandaging, you'll get some long term relief
I'm glad you're finding the 5:2 diet works for you, finding the right plan is key to weight loss success.
I don't expect that you'll get such a fab loss this week, but I hope it's still successful for you
Onwards and downwards
Second weekend out and about.... Tuesday weigh in 94kg. You see how unhealthy travelling is. All this good food when you are out and about! But now I will try all over again, some peaceful times are on the timetable, work, than the Easter Challenge with chocolates and sweets , and then calm waters again till the next challenge is on the horizon...
Thank you Fabulous Five for your workout even on the day after the official weigh in have a happy week and I hope you are all turning into Easter Rabbits, hahaha
Great to see you, and I will work out your weight change when I do the stats later in the week, as I am doing this week - and I'm just rushing this morning before work, so will ensure I come back to you later in the week with your weight change. From what you've said, I'm anticipated you've gained some weight, but sounds like you've been enjoying some delicious meals, so hopefully you're enjoying the week. You mentioned that you are now trying all over again, so good luck! You can do it!
I'm doing the weekly stats now, and your weight last week was 92.5kg, so you've gained 1.5kg - but I know this isn't hopefully too much of a surprise, as you were doing lots of travelling and eating richer foods.
I hope you're coping ok with the Easter Challenges, and have a lovely Easter weekend.
Haha. I wish! Giving calorie counting a miss is me-speak for "just eat whatever and be good when you're back home". I had a Thai curry on Friday night, a Thai style fish cake with loads of noodles and chilli sauce on Saturday followed by lasagne on Sunday and full blown Indian on Monday night.
And that's just dinner. The Lake District seems to offer a great range of ice cream, which I couldn't resist. So I had a scoop everyday and somehow those scoops were all absolutely enormous!
I think I just made up for all by hiking - I hope. We'll see what they scales say over the next few days!
Hello. Sorry I'm 2 days late but I only found this site last night.
I'm starting today as I have a target date of 2 November 16, to drop as much as I can.
Start weight 21st~3lb or 297 lb
BMI is 42.6.
Yikes!!!! Nothing good about it.
Bingeing is my big problem. I am doing therapy to help myself.
I'm really glad you found the Monday group weigh-in ok, and welcome!
You've shared your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. It's often the most daunting step, but hopefully from now on you'll be reducing your weight and getting fitter and healthier as time goes on. It can be good to set yourself mini goals to work towards, and there are some great Challenges on the site currently to help with that - for example the Easter Bunny Challenge and the 4th July Challenge (see Pinned posts - top right-hand-side of the forum for details), and also the 20,000 Leagues under the Sea Challenge and the March Strength Challenges are both good for the exercise side of things!
Most of us are following the NHS 12 week plan - so do have a look at that. It can be accessed via the icon in the top middle of the screen, where it says 'Weight Loss NHS' and it's a great structure and resource. Really easy to follow, but see what you think, and do whatever feels best for you personally.
Hope you have a great first week, and we will be having an Easter Monday weigh-in (28th March) - the thread is always in the 'Events' section (right-hand-side of the homepage) or if you click 'follow' and my name, then you'll be automatically notified of when I post the threads.
