This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing there:
To all you Afternoon and/or Evening Monday Group weighers - I wish you an enjoyable weigh-in. One of the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and myself, Lowcal) will ensure we respond to you. But please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments and might not be able to reply straight away. By the end of the day, everyone will have received a response from one or more of us.
Ruth_Canal_Runner (Fab 5’er) is extremely busy for the next couple of weeks, as she has just got herself a lovely new job with a permanent contract (Congratulations Ruth!) so I did our weekly stats this week and shall also do next week’s too. It was a pleasure therefore to be the first person to realise what a great achievement the group stats are:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 121.
Total overall weight lost: 89.48 pounds (40.59 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 70 (114.33 pounds lost) (51.86 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 20 (24.85 pounds gained) (11.27 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 14.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 13.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 4.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated). The link to the latest Monday group weigh-in thread is always in the ‘Events’ section (right-hand-side of the home-page) so it’s easy to find it once you know where to look!
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless. The other Challenges taking place in the forum currently are also in the Pinned Posts section too.
Regarding my own weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 12 stones 13.4 pounds, and today I weigh: 13 stone 0.4 pound, so I've gained 1 pound this week. So those elusive 12's once more slip from my grasp, but I am not deterred from pursuing them! I have managed to do more walking this week, thanks to the last week of the Around the World in 80 Days Challenge, and really enjoyed participating in that – really motivating. There is hopefully going to be a new Challenge ahead, so I’ll be looking out for that. I’ve joined in Sueper’s Easter Bunny Challenge, and also MarmiteRehoming’s 4th July Challenge, and Ruth_Canal_Runner’s March Strength Challenge (see pinned posts area for details of those). Unfortunately I only managed to do 1 gym session this week – and I had intended to do 3…
This week my goal is to lose 1 pound, and to go to the gym 3 times, as well as try some new recipes, and continue regular walking. I also want to think of a plan of action to help me to cope with Easter – as it is fast approaching, and I don’t want it to scupper my progress. I’ve already had discussions with family members yesterday to agree that we won’t be exchanging any edible gifts – so no chocolate Easter eggs in the house hopefully to tempt us!
Wishing you all a great weigh-in!
Onwards and downwards – and I’ll do my very best to re-join you for the downwards trend. ☺
Lowcal ☺

Hi fab 5ers I think you have my weight loss as I sent it via round the world post when I couldn't get on this morning. I weighed in at 9st 13.75lbs but couldn't remember my last weigh in (sorry) I'm hoping you can tell me exactly how much I have lost this week??
I just saw your reply before I was about to go for lunch, and I can tell you you lost 6 pounds this week!!!! Wow!!!!! Many Congratulations, and so sorry you couldn't get into the thread this morning. There was a computer glitch, which has now been fixed - so maybe try reloading your pages, and you might be able to have a read - hope so! Your result is in there, and we commented on it there. We think you're amazing!
12.10pm I'm going to have a lunch-break now, but please keep posting, and one of us Fab 5'ers will respond to you at some point soon - I'll be back later!
Weighed in this morning but first time I've had to log in. Well not a good week as I put on 2.2 kg making me 90.1 kg. Not surprising as the huge weigh loss last week was due to being so ill.
Husband is now in a better frame of mind to try to loose weigh and even downloaded some recipes to try. He's also changed the scale measurements to stones and lb as that's what he likes. I was trying to avoid knowing what I weighed in a unit that meant something to me but can't be bothered to change each time I weigh. My equivalent weight today is 14st 2.5 lbs. Not too much to loose to hit the 13's so here's to a better week this week.
At least you know that everything's back on an even keel now, small-steps and from here on in, those losses are going to really mean something to you. Just think how marvellous you're going to feel when you get down to the 13's!
Now that your husband's on board with the whole weight loss idea, it's going to be so much easier for you
hello, I am sad to report that I gained weight (again). I think I gained 5-600gms. So, last week I was 64.6 and this week I am 65.1. Still, I had a really good weekend and now I will focus on loosing this extra weight and getting back to my lowest (64.1kg). low cal meals for me this week....
So pleased to say that all my hard work this week and keeping in check over the weekend has paid off. Scales were 11 stone 5.5 so that makes me 3lb lighter on the scales this week!!! Yippee. Thanks to you all for motivation on this forum. Long may it continue - the forum and my weight loss! Good luck to everyone else weighing in today. I hope you have lost but if not please don't give up because next week could be your week.
Thanks moreless. Sorry to see you are back in the 13's. Glad you are making a plan for Easter. All that chocolate around is going to be tricky otherwise.
Oh blow I am so sorry I got you muddled up. I read the top post and because you replied to me I assumed it was you that did the original posting without checking. Sorry
Sorry I seem to be getting a bit confused this afternoon. Must be the excitement of my weight loss going to my head! Just hope I can keep it up this week too.
I live in a permanent state of confusion, it's actually a very happy place to be
I'm sure that you'll keep up the great work!
Hello, my first weigh in - 15 stone 10lb. My ultimate goal is 10 stone, however I realise that may take several years so my first target is fit in to size 16 by July (currently size 18-20). Looking forward to reading through the posts for motivation and using my fitbit to track an increase in my step count.
It's great that you've joined us today and that you've shared your starting weight and goals with us
You have a very sensible first goal and I wish you all the best with that
If you haven't already, have a look at our welcome newbie thread and consider using that fitbit to full capacity by joining our challenge, that will be starting tomorrow. There are also other challenges that you'll find in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen
Hi Catriona89. I have found this forum great for motivation and advice. Hope it helps you on your journey. Good luck for this week and hope the scales show you a great weight loss next monday.
Sorry about your lb gain this week, Lowcal, I am sure with all the challenges you have joined, though, you will reach your goals.
Well done to everyone for their weight losses/maintenance and commiserations to the gainers, just by posting here and keeping focussed, you are winners!
I have lost another 1kg - 2.2lbs, which means I have officially lost 25% of my starting weight and I am pleased with that. Just another 25% to go, argh.
Thanks so much for your kind words - I really appreciate them, and I am feeling more determined thanks to the support and also all the challenges, as they will help keep me focused.
Fantastic to hear you've lost another 1kg (2.2 pounds), that is fantastic! Many many Congratulations on lonsing 25% of your starting weight, you're half-way there - it's fantastic progress, and you are amazing!
Woohoo LTL! That's fantastic! So very well done and so deserved! I've actually just realised, that I hit 25% today too and I've got 25% left! We really are twins!! You've managed to do it in less time than me though, so you're still the champion!
I've just realised I'm talking utter rubbish and am nowhere near 25%, what an absolute wally!
Congratulations to everyone who has managed a good week - be that loss, maintain or a small increase on top of a tough week...we all have them so don't let it sabotage your efforts!
Well after week one my weight is 221 lbs (15st 11lbs) so a small but welcome loss of 1lb this first week. Was hoping for more (aren't we always ;-)) but am delighted to be heading in the right direction. What's more, I am also delighted at the fact I feel so much better in myself after a week of healthy choices - and that is better both physically and emotionally. I am already looking forward to week two. Onwards and downwards :-).
Fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, that is really great! Congratulations! What's particularly great to hear is that you're feeling so much better in yourself after a week of healthy choices - that is really good.
I hope you enjoy week 2 as much, and that you have another great week ahead.
I love ur attitude (especially walking past a Chinese takeaway, that would be impossible for me) and I know u will lose much more. Something about ur positive outlook.
Me I am exactly the same as last week but the good news is I have decided to get to Julian Michaels beginner shred out and I feel better about it, I'm hoping to do this every day. Only did 2 days (on weekend). Calorie intake still 1400. May need to increase this as I can't get to sleep at night again without having cereal 😬
A maintain is always better than a gain Adheela, I was lucky enough to lose 3/4lb
Are you eating the right number of calories Adheela, because I'm concerned that hunger is keeping you awake! Not eating enough isn't going to help your weight loss, it's more likely to hinder it! Please check on the BMI calculaor that you are eating the correct amount, especially if you intend doing a Gillian Michaels shred DVD!
Don't give up, you will find the correct balance for you
Wtg moreless! That's amazing 4lb for two weeks now! I had a feeling u might say that so today I have been eating more healthily, my cal limit is 1310-1685. Unfortunately I had a choc on one (or two) of the days and that takes a big chunk out of my cals so I do try n eat less but obv am hungry.
Another weakness is sometimes I eat the kids leftovers which is Chapatti with curry. And then I try n have less dinner - but still come down later on hungry. I did the same today. I had a whole chspatti which Is 340 cals according to my fitness pal and the lamb curry is prob bout the same
Oh and I'm doing the beginner 30 day shred couldn't dream of doing the normal shred! I love the beginner shred it's actually achievable for me x
Well done Adheela, I don't like the idea of you being hungry, that's not a happy place to be. Try to fill up with lots of vegetables, which you could have in addition to your curry and maybe not quite so much of the chappati. Have you tried dhal, which may be more filling for you and not so many calories?
I couldn't even manage the old fogies shred! Anything with shred in the title, sounds terrifying!
Thanks I will try daal with more vegetables too. Ul be surprised the beginner shred is ok, check it out on Amazon - look at the reviews U should try it, I'm so unfit and hate exercise. But this dvd is good!
Afternoon lowcal. I also have put on a pound. I'm disappointed in myself as did nothing positive eating wise at all last week. I had a stressful week at work, and succumbed to wine and everything not concreted down to eat. I did run 3 times but am disappointed in myself as if I stopped eating so much, I'd feel happier and running would be easier too. My head just seems to be in a 'yes I'll eat that' place rather than 'do I really need that' place. Only I can sort it, and only I can stop shovelling kak into my mouth but I seem unable/unwilling!
I'm sorry to hear you've had a stressful week at work, and that you're feeling a bit disappointed to have put on a pound, but try not to let those feelings dwell - as you have accomplished 3 runs last week, and that is a great achievement!
I hope you're not shovelling 'kak' into your mouth, as that doesn't sound palatable at all, and I think it's important to maybe look at what is 'available' around you - because maybe if it's out of sight then you won't be tempted to eat things you'd rather not have. I know that I can't allow myself to have crisps in the house, except for my 1 pack which I enjoy on the weekend - I had it yesterday alongside my lunch, and I really enjoyed it.
It's getting strategies that work for you personally - so maybe take a bit of time when you can to problem solve your way through it, and have a plan of action to put in place for when you need it.
I really hope you'll have less stress on your plate this week, and also some delicious foods - no more 'kak'... Although no food is forbidden - 'kak' does sound really bad...!
Already it's not going well today as my boss has bought me peanut m&ms as my week was so bad last week! I am going to chat to my boyfriend and get him on my side about my weight gain so he doesn't suggest buying me a bottle of wine to cheer me up. See everyone's so kind to me, I feel guilty for saying no to their yummy things! But it's my poor little legs that have to carry me around the fun run in June and they're exhausted little things!! So I need to man up and say thank you but no thank you. I'm careful not to buy anything for my house. If I bought a packet of biccies, I'd not just eat the one. In fact, I'd eat them in the car on the way home!!! So I do know that I was not front of the queue on will power day. I need to be more mindful but that's hard when mindfulness appears about an hour after a choccie bar!
It does take time to get people around you used to the fact you might decline their 'gifts' - and the fact is much of our society revolves around 'cheering each other up with food related items' and clearly your boss felt those peanut M&Ms might 'cheer you up'. I'm wondering what you've done with them now.
Great that you're planning to chat to your boyfriend regarding another way to cheer you up besides a bottle of wine - again, it goes back to that association between bringing round a bottle for an occasion etc.
Yes, consider your little legs - that have to carry you round that June fun run - whenever someone hands you a gift you don't fancy loading onto your legs, imagine a tiny pair of legs trying to balance a giant bottle on them, or a giant M&M - and you probably won't run all that fast, so that image might help you decline it!
You know, I don't think any of us were first in the queue on will-power day - it takes quite a lot to build up a sense of will-power, but it sounds like you're flexing that particular muscle, and I think you'll develop those skills no problem!
Bring that mindfulness to the fore - so that you can consider in advance what you will and won't allow yourself to consume. It's your choice at the end of the day, and you don't need to give into the pressures - and there are lots of those! But forearmed is forewarned.
Sorry - I sometimes talk too much. Hope this makes sense.
I'm loving thinking of me as a big blue m&m with scrawny little legs trying to hold me up!! M&ms are now on boss's desk as he likes them too. I'll get him to have his fill (he's in a meeting at the mo) then lock them away for tomorrow. I've looked online. They have 1g sugar in for every m&m. I'll get him to allow me some tomorrow afternoon, him have some, then lock them away again! As you say, no food is forbidden but it should be monitored! And I'll write down my sugar. I find it's more manageable counting up to 25g than 1500 calories! Am now drinking my hot lemon feeling like I'm in control again thank you
Maybe he could buy you flowers to cheer you up so you don't miss out on a treat but you won't need to test your will power. I am a bit all or nothing kinda girl so I know what you mean about the biscuits. If I start I just keep eating them so over the last 3 weeks I have slowly managed to train myself to not even start to eat them. Although carrot sticks are no where near as good as a chocolate chip cookie I don't feel so guilty after eating them and they do take away the craving feeling. I am sure you will find more will power and have a better week next week. Good luck.
Hi Everyone , sorry I missed last week - struggled to log on! But have been keeping going and lost another 2lb so now at 10.10. I am very pleased as this includes a weekend away. Have a goo week everyone!
Great that you managed to log on today - and it's great to hear you've lost 2 pounds over the 2 week period - I will therefore count 1 pound lost as your total for this week's stats, as we literally only count 1 week's data - so I hope you're ok with my dividing it in half like that. The fact is you're still 2 whole pounds down from when you last weighed in, and that is fantastic progress. Congratulations!!!
I think you've done especially well considering you've had a weekend away - people often gain after weekends away, so you have done exceptionally well.
Oh dear She, there have been a number of glitches with the thread today too, although, touch wood, it appears to be fine now
I think, but Lowcal will correct me if I'm wrong, that you will be counted as having lost 1lb/week, which is a lovely steady loss. You should be very pleased with yourself! Well done you!
Here's to another great week for you and no problems with logging in next week
Afternoon all. This morning I weighed 12st 13.25lb so a loss of 2.75lb.My daughter has also decided to lose weight again, unfortunately not with us.She has rejoined Weight Watchers with whom she has previously lost weight only to regain it when she left them.So she will now be losing lbs and £s
Awww Frisky1955, that is horrible that you've got that bug - I can understand you feeling under the weather and lethargic - your body is trying to fight it. You've maintained your weight, and that's a good outcome! So Congratulations for that, as a maintain is much better than a gain.
I really hope that bug will leave you alone soon, and that you will feel better as the week goes on.
Maintaining is better than gaining, so Congratulations! Hope you're feeling ok about it, as I know you said you've stayed the same 'again' - I can't remember how many weeks you've maintained, but hopefully your patience will be rewarded and you'll see a shift in the scales eventually. Just keep positive and focused, and it should see you through.
Hey everyone I lost weight this week! 2.5 lbs I think as I was 10.6 ish last week and now 10.3 ish! Still need to get some digital scales! Feeling pleased my Easter target is 10 stone which I could never get under last year!
Well done Mv! That's a fantastic loss! I agree, digital scales do take the guesswork out of weighing day
Oh my word into the 9's for easter would be splendiferous! I shall keep everything crossed for you, to make sure that you make it!
Hi Lowcal,
What a fab inch loss😃, I hope that has made up for the fickleness of those scales!!
I do like your commitment to all the challenges , I find it really gives me a boost when I'm struggling.
I had not realised Easter was so close till last night ! I am having the family round but like you I think I'll also say no Easter eggs😃 I ve not even bought them for the neices/nephews yet just in case I eat them !! Lol
Thank you for your supportive comments last Monday, for some reason I missed reading your post till today (when I'm doing the stats) - but I really appreciate your kind words as always.
Hi Lowcal...those 12's are just being plain awkward aren't they! I'd call them "Troublesome Twelves" lol. Never mind, next week, who knows what will happen...they may be back again!
I'm minus 1 and 3/4 pounds this week which I'm ok with. It's the 3/4 I put on last week plus another pound lost so it's all heading in the right direction.
Unfortunately I'm still grappling with getting the pain on an even keel, not sure why it's proving difficult at the moment...gotta take the rough with the smooth. The cat is providing a welcome distraction, we bought her a new bird toy with wand and string so it can "fly" through the air, and she is going mad for it, running around and jumping like a lunatic, so she is providing laughter where there otherwise probably wouldn't be all that much, bless her!
Hoping to just keep on keeping on and lose another pound or two next week, the food is going pretty well considering the pain used to be a trigger for emotional eating. I'm not saying it won't be a trigger again at some point, but this battle I am winning at the moment. I'm keeping my food on track. Hubby has offered to get take away a few times this past week and I've told him, I can't, just keep out of the kitchen please, I'm hurting and grumpy but I NEED to cook for us to stay on track. I was so distracted one of the days that I went to move the oven shelf with my bare hand while the oven was on - doh! Luckily I had only just switched it on and it hadn't reached full temperature yet but I quickly withdrew said hand and put the fingers under the cold tap as it was plenty hot enough to make me shout lol!
Anyway, enough rambling, here's to a good week for us all eh, good luck everyone!
Oh WW, I hate that pain of yours! I wish it would go take a running jump!
I want to be able to say do X,Y and Z and everything will be ok, but unfortunately I can do no such thing and the very best I can do is send you virtual hugs!
I can't believe you've managed to lose 1.75lbs, that's a truly herculean effort! What a star you are!
Keep playing with the cat and getting your laughs when you can and maybe, just maybe you'll turn a corner and this pain will become a distant memory.
Hooray, several site reloads later, the reply button works again! Thanks, it's a pain in the...well...back really lol. I can't remember what it feels like to wake up and have a day where I don't get any pain at all, I was trying to think how free I must have felt but I guess we just don't think about what we have until it seems to be gone from us. I'd encourage everyone who doesn't have any physical difficulties to get up and truly celebrate every pain free day and make the most of it. If you don't, you'll probably end up a bit regretful that you didn't do more, trust me on this folks!
I still dream and have hope that when the weight is gone, I might get days where the painkillers will completely remove the pain and I can get out and have a nice walk without having to think carefully about each step, how far I should go before I turn back in case I overdo things, no walking stick, etc. I tell you what, if that ever happens one day, I will be over the moon and never, ever take my physical health for granted ever again!
How did you get on today Moreless, I hope you had another loss? I can't seem to keep track of all the posts any more the site has become so busy, and I can't really track you through your comments as obviously you are a fab five member and have so many comments it's impossible to find! I hope you had a good week, and wish you another good week ahead xx
I think that unfortunately, it takes a tragedy, or near tragedy for us to appreciate what we have, just look at children. When you're young and healthy, you feel invincible and in your head there will never be a time that's different. It's a pity we're not like Mork and start life old and get progressively younger, because, my goodness, we'd do things differently!
It's also a shame that people generally don't learn from other people's mistakes, or misfortune. We seem to be stuck in a loop of perpetuating the same mistakes, never learning a lesson.
I know that I've been given a second chance and will never again take my capabilities for granted. It took me a while to come to my senses, but I got there in the end
I have been lucky enough to lose 3/4lb, which brings me to exactly 4.5st lost. I'm ecstatic!
Onwards and downwards WW and here's to those pain-free, or at least pain reduced days
So many wise words there. When we are able, we don't seem to have the knowledge and when we are not able, we have the wisdom to see things but not necessarily be able to do anything to change them as it's too late - life is cruel sometimes!
Well done on another loss this week, you are going great guns! I'm just 1/4 pound shy of the 3 stone loss mark now so very slow, but it seems to be fairly steady so I'll just keep chipping away at it. As you say, onwards and downwards!
I enjoyed these insights into your life and especially the cat distraction! ( I love cats)
I really think about what you said about appreciating a pain free day. I experienced pain when I broke my ankle last year but it was temporary- you are right a pain free day is a gift. I won't moan about not losing any weight this week! Good luck this week and keep cooking- I am sure, like you , that take aways are a very bad idea!!
Surely weight loss will definitely help your back one day? Thinking of you anyway
Hey, very well done! 2 packs of butter gone! So, if you lose a pound a week for the next year that would be 52 pounds. Time to celebrate EVERY loss I'd say, keep on going! x
I'd like you to try and imagine how you'd feel if you'd gained a pound, or even maintained. Do you think you'd feel the same as you do at the moment? Ollio, you worked hard to lose that pound and now I want you to join me in congratulating you, because you jolly well deserve it! Well done Ollio, that's absolutely fantastic! Treat yourself to a lovely bubble bath, scented candles and soothing music. Life is good!
I just want to let you know that I always click on 'like' in these Monday sessions to indicate I've read someone's post, as you've probably noticed that the Fab 5'ers spread ourselves about and we don't answer every person personally - therefore I always click like to let someone know I've read their reply. I noticed that you have lost 1 pound in your first week, and like Moreless and WeightWarrior both stated that's fantastic! Time to celebrate, and therefore laugh, don't cry!
You ended your post by saying 'just a big fat ball of nothingness' - I would like to say, I hope you'll challenge that thought - sometimes we can feel horrible and lacking in self-esteem, and that's not a great feeling, but if a friend of yours said to you that they felt like a 'big fat ball of nothingness' what would you say back to them? Would you challenge their view and say there is so much to them as a person - that they've got their own individual character, their own likes and dislikes - so many things that define them and make them your friend. I am sure you would try to challenge their view if it was seen to be negative and potentially unhelpful to them. Be kind to yourself too, if you can.
I know you joined us last week, and this is your first weigh-in, and I'd like to say to you Ollio, that we are really glad to have you as part of our group, and we are looking forward to sharing this weight loss journey with you. You've made an excellent start, and I hope you'll celebrate that along with us.
You've contributed already to the onwards and downwards path - I hope to join that trend myself next week, but whatever happens, we are all in this group together, and here's to a great week ahead for us all.
Last Monday I was 11 stone 13, today when I weighed myself I was 11 stone 10 so very impressed with that, here's hoping I get a similar result next Monday
Well done to everyone else for their hard work, whether you've lost or gained you're changing your lifestyle and looking after yourselves
Good luck this week and I hope to see more posts like this next Monday :))
Wow, that's a great result. Congratulations!!! Losing 2 pounds is really great. (Just adapting this to say 3 pounds, as Anon-E-Mouse has noticed that I've made an error - I do apologise Kat96 - you've lost 3 pounds and that's really great!!! Congratulations!!!!).
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and here's to a great week ahead for all of us.
Thanks for this weeks weigh in session Lowcal! I remember the elusive 12's too... I'll be quiet happy to get to the elusive 13's again for now though
I had a very good start to last week - I'm not usually one to step on the scales every day, but it seemed I was losing 1lb a day until Thursday, when I was struck by insatiable hunger. It lasted me right through to Saturday afternoon, when I finally found the solution - a huuuge smoothie! But after that, my stomach went bloated and I'm still waiting to settle down again. I think this is to do with coming off medication, which had been playing havoc with my stomach acid. I'm sure it's simply my stomach regulating itself again. If I'm still not back to normal in a couple of days though, I'll pop along to the Dr.
Anyway, net loss for the week is 2lbs - I lost 4 and regained 2 (so current weight is 14st 12.5lbs).
I'm away for a couple of nights this week with work, and one of the guys I'm off with is awful for pressuring you into eating badly. I will do my best to be healthy! But we'll have a lot of walking about to do, so hopefully it'll even out.
Well done for losing 2lbs Cooper, even if it was 2lbs less than you were hoping for. Let's hope that your body will regulate itself now and you'll get back onto an even keel. You're very wise considering a trip to see your doctor, if things don't get back to normal soon
Fingers crossed that you're able to stay strong whilst you're on your business trip and you won't feel pressured into eating less than healthy food items
I've just checked your weight for last week, and you started at 13 stone 5 pounds, so that means you've lost 2 pounds this week. Congratulations!!! That is a great start!
Hope you enjoyed your first week, and I hope you have another great week ahead.
Hope your phone cheers up soon - having a grumpy phone isn't good!
I surprised myself with a 2lb loss this week - honestly thought I would be lucky with one as went over cals slightly everyday. Have had a physically active week though so that must have balanced it out. Having started in January at 15st 6lbs, this week came down from 14st 5lbs to 14st 3lbs - (target is 12st 7lbs). Having fun with some creative cooking this week. Busy summer season working ahead so need to be fitter!
I must apologise profusely for the fact that we didn't respond to your weigh-in post last Monday, I just found your message here, and I had missed it! Really really sorry. Congratulations on losing 2 pounds, that is really great!
I did notice your posts relating to recipes though - and I am looking forward to trying your cake recipe that you added to the Lucca10 collation post. It looks soooo good!
Good luck for the next Monday group weigh-in - not long now, and again, my sincere apologies for missing your post on Monday!
Glad I spotted it whilst doing the stats - your results are included!
This is my first weigh in on the site. I've got a long journey ahead - according to the bmi calculator I need to lose 6 st . - have decided to nibble away at it half a stone at a time . Anyway - good start - have lost 11/2 lb this first week . Try for the same next week . Good luck to everyone.
Great to see you! Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in session, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this group. It's great to hear that you've already made an excellent start and that you've lost 1.5 pounds in your first week. Congratulations!!!
You have set yourself very sensible goals of half a stone at a time, and that is really good.
5.25pm I'm going to cook my dinner now, and I might be a bit more intermittent in my presence during the evening, but I will pop back now and again, and other Fab 5'ers will also be around, so please do keep posting your weigh-in results - you will all receive a reply from one or more of us at some point. Hope everyone enjoys their evening! Lots of inspiring posts today.
Hi, weight loss this week is 2lbs. I'm pleased I'm in a new stone bracket. 12st 12.5 lbs, and I weigh one stone less than this time last year. 3 stone lost in 2 years. I'm still in the wheelchair.
Well done Janey, doesn't it just give your spirits an extra lift when you get into the next stone down 😃 Really pleased for you, especially as your exercising must be limited due to still being in the wheelchair. Three stone lost in two years is a real achievement, WTG you 😀
Well done Lowcal for lower measurements, the extra pound will drop off soon, I'm sure. It's an uphill struggle trying to get the weight to go downhill!
This week I have gone from 10st 12.2lbs to 10st 9.8lbs, so a loss of 2.4lbs 😄‼️😄
For this, I would like to say a big thank you to Sueper for the Easter Bunny challenge, Ruth_canal_runner for the March strength challenge and two others, whose names I can't find (I read loads of posts for encouragement). One of these put a clip on showing how to do the correct squat, so I have started to do them, the other lovely person mentioned changing what you normally eat. I have stopped having bananas and porridge every day and ring the changes with Weetabix or Branflakes and add some sultanas to them. This is the most I've managed to lose in one week for some time. 😃
Gosh, I've just read the last paragraph and I sound like an Oscar winner thanking the manager, etc. But it's sincerely meant, I couldn't do this on my own, thank you everyone, I applaud you 👏👏👏
Fantastic news Anon! Everything seems to be falling into place for you. I'm delighted that our wonderful community has been able to advise, encourage, motivate and educate you and that those things have led to you having a fabulous loss this week!
Love your resolve and determination! Also like your plan for Easter - wish I could do the same. But with a 7 year old and 11 year old in my house we'll definitely have lots of chocolate in our house. Trying to think of my plan to avoid temptation or counter act it should I be tempted by the calling 'eat me, eat me' from any chocolate around. Any tips would be most welcome!
This week I stayed the same which I am pleased with. I managed to get to the gym twice this week as its the first week in ages since no-one has been ill in my family!
I am hoping to lose 1 lb this week and get to the gym twice.
You asked for tips for Easter coping - re: chocolate in the house and your 2 young children. How about making the receipt of the chocolate eggs quite 'active' - i.e. hide them in the garden/house and have people doing various very active things to achieve one, and maybe have tiny eggs rather than big ones? Maybe ensure that you only 'allow' yourself a small egg or a little bunny or other chocolate figure as your own personal 'prize'.
I'm wondering if it's possible to freeze the chocolate once opened so you can eat it in very small amounts.
I can't think of much more... sorry...
Maybe you can think of a plan that will work - after thinking some more about the possibilities. Definitely worth some consideration, otherwise Easter can get really out of hand! It seems to go on for a while too - I've seen people buying the little creme eggs already, and I'm pretty sure they're enjoying them prior to Easter. They seem to be everywhere - especially by the tills...!
Hi, I just thought I would share with you a tactic that someone once told me. She smashes her egg and weighs it into equal amounts to last a week then bags this up in sandwich / freezer bags and puts them in the fridge. That way she knows how many calories she is having and can take it into account in her daily total. Obviously, the size of the egg will dictate the number of days it is to be shared over. You don't want too little but also don't want too much either!
If it was me, and it might be as I fancy an egg this year, I would write the days of the week on each bag as well. That way if I try to sneak an extra bag, the day staring at me will hopefully make me think twice!
I do not know if this is practical with your children as I obviously don't know your situation, but you could restrict their chocolate to a particular time eg when they are both home from school and had their tea, so it acts like a pudding. You could then eat yours at the same time without feeling any guilt in doing so. You will enjoy the chocolate more which frankly you should do - we should not make it something to be scared of. But this way, you are not scuppering your plans.
Even if you didn't do it daily, perhaps had them for every other day, or even weekly. Whatever suits you and you feel comfortable with.
Thanks Alisonaby for that idea. I like it alot. We do tend to save sweets to have as deserts at the weekend - we don't usually have a desert in the week as we try to eat healthy during the weekdays. So I can see me breaking and bagging any eggs I get.
End of week 7 for me & little disappointed to say I have no weight loss to report this week...however, no weight gain either! I stayed the same at 13 stone 8lbs, I wasn't holding out for a great result this week as I had been out for dinner twice last week! I made up for it on Saturday though, squeezing in a 10 mile walk before lunch! Best of luck to everyone else this week! Long may our success stories continue!
Hi moreless, she's not good I'm afraid, vet says just keep putting the drops in, but its inevitable that she will go blind. I think she has about 10% vision at the moment. She gets very upset ( me too 😢 ) she will be 15 in June! She's had a brilliant life but it doesn't make it any easier! Oh and bless her she's almost deaf! Thanks for asking! I'm very down at the moment x
I'm so sorry Jesterpuss, it's awful when something like this happens. You have another dog don't you? Would your other dog act as her eyes and ears? I've seen that in action, it's amazing!
Now you've made me smile! If you knew my other dog!
Jess is a tri coloured border collie, she's just coming up to 5yrs old! She works our sheep and she is a good friend to Jilly but she does everything at 100 miles per hour! And over the years Jilly has had to put her in her place!
Also Jilly is a house dog and Jess lives in her des res quarters outside! But its a nice thought!
Thanks moreless It's just that Jilly has been my constant companion since she was 10 weeks old - its very hard .
I did not have a great week so I was nervous about getting on the scales today. Last week I was 14st 10.75lbs and this week I am 14st 10.25lbs so a 0.5lb loss. I am very happy with that.
Well done to everyone who has lost, maintained or gained but is determined to be back on track next week!
It can be daunting to get on the scales some weeks, so well done for facing it head on, and I'm so glad to hear that you've had a 0.5 pound loss - that is great! Congratulations!
Glad to hear you're feeling happy with that, and I hope you have another great week ahead.
It's fantastic that you've chosen to join us and that you've shared your starting weight
I'm going to assume that you've read the newbie thread and have been working your way around the site
Looking forward to catching up with you in challenges and on the forum.
All the very best for your first week
Hi
Im now 84.5kg , a total of 6.5kg lost, though I have never actually posted on the monday morning weigh in thats 0.3kg lost since last week not a lot but im pretty sure im not far from my maintaining weight.
Congratulations on achieving a weight loss this week of 0.3kg - and also to being not far from your maintaining weight. That is really great! I bet you're feeling good - and I hope you have another great week ahead. Thanks so much for joining us today in the Monday group weigh-in.
Congratulations to you for losing 2.5 pounds this week, that's a great result!!!
You've lost 11.5 pounds in the past 6 weeks, so you could possibly make that stone by next week - or definitely the week after. Either way, you're making excellent progress.
You manage to remain so positive LowCal in the face of retuning to the 13s so I musn't moan!! But I am 11 stone 4 this week putting on a fraction extra from 11 stone 3.8 but i didn't drink alcohol for three nights last week (this is an achievement for me I'm afraid!) and didn't make up the calories at all (so must have been on a 1000 a day!!) and I went to the gym three times and burnt over 100 calories each time. So I do feel despondent right now- I did however have too much wine on Friday night and a small pudding yesterday so maybe that was what scuppered me.
Sigh. I will try again. Must do better!!
all best everyone and thanks so much for the support
Thanks - I think I'm getting used to it actually - but what has been better this time is that I've seen more of the 12's than I normally do, so I feel like I'm beginning to see some changes. Hence I am remaining positive. The other thing is that I keep reminding myself that I'm actually maintaining a total loss of 5.5 stone, and that makes me feel proud! So those things all help me.
You've put on such a tiny amount this week - it's barely there (that 0.2 pound) - I imagine that will have gone by tomorrow!
Congratulations on not drinking alcohol for 3 nights last week, that is really great. Also, well done for your gym attendances, you're doing really well.
I know you're feeling despondent right now, but hang in there, and I feel sure you'll have a good result next week. A doubt your small pudding yesterday would scupper you - or the wine you had on Friday. The thing is that you are making some fantastic changes - and I really believe you'll see some great results as long as you stay on track for the week ahead.
You lost 5.5 stone???!! That is incredible.I feel humbled- You know you are such a caring person, it shines through all your posts. You know what it is like- despair and elation! And how destructive terrible self hatred is.
I think breaking my ankle last August had to be a turning point in my life to stop putting on weight, stop courting diabetes, start doing some exercise. I feel so much healthier all round. I just hope I can keep it up. Don't feel you have to reply to this, you have too many posts to make- I just wanted to say thanks!
It's a pleasure to reply to your post, and I appreciate what you said. Thank you.
Also, I'm so glad you've joined us in this forum and group, and it's brilliant that you're feeling so much healthier all round. You are sounding positive and motivated, and that's going to stand you in good stead going forward.
On Friday I weighed 11.10. So annoying. Lately I am only loosing 1 lb week and not 2/3 lbs like I did in the beginning. Just desperate to get to 11. Too bad.
Since Thursday I have been eating all the wrong food. Well I better stop now if I want to get rid of my Thrush which I did until Thursday as I knew that I can eat anything now. Not worth it as I gained 3 lbs and it is so slow to shift these unwanted lbs. I guess the past is the past. Just start a fresh clean sleet of paper and get back into toning exercises. I did go for walk today and yesterday.
It's great to see you again - I know you're feeling disappointed that you've gained 2 pounds this week, but you have had Thrush to contend with, and that's tough! It may not take as long as you think to get rid of those pounds, they may come off quicker than you anticipate - leave the past in the past and move forward from it. You were 11 stone 10 pounds on Friday, so I do think you will get back there relatively quickly. You're right - starting with a fresh clean sheet of paper will help, and you can re-start those toning exercises. Well done for getting out for a walk today and yesterday.
Please don't keep beating yourself up, you're only human after all.
As you say, forget about what's happened before and start afresh. We all know that you can do this, because you've done it before.
You know what you should and should't be eating to keep you healthy and you know you should be doing your pelvic floor exercises. How about pledging to yourself that you'll eat the right food and do your exercises for just one day? You can do it bd, I have faith in you!
Thanks Moorless! I was on this site too much and therefore household chores got neglected!
It is just that have been eating wrong foods since Thursday and today I was so good until this evening. Now I am going to stop as I am so sore and I am desperate to get rid of my Thrush.
Right now I am going to do my pelvis floor muscles.
Welcome to the forum, and it's great that you've joined in the Monday group weigh-in session. I hope you felt ok posting your starting weight - that's often a daunting prospect, so now that's out of the way, you can look forward to being 'a loser' next week. Very aptly said!
Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post, that a lovely forum member called Moreless (Fab 5'er) has put together? Here's a link to it, as it's full of great things about the forum, and some contributions by lots of people in the community:
Hope you have a great first week. Many of us are doing the NHS 12 week plan, and I would recommend using an app alongside to make it easier to keep account of your food and drink intake.
Maybe take account of your body measurements too, as they can be very motivating on occasions when the scales don't budge - I relied on them today, and was pleased that I did, as I gained a pound, but lost half an inch each from waist and hips.
Just ask around if you have any questions, as there's always someone around and everyone is very friendly and supportive.
Hi there! Missed last week due to having that awful sickness bug that's going round. So two weeks ago I was 11st 10 1/4 pounds and today I weighed in at 11st 5 1/2 pounds! So in a fortnight 4.75 pounds off!
Food_lover was 146.5 pounds last week, so she's lost 2.5 pounds this week.
Congratulations Food_lover - if you try to keep a tally of the difference each week, it really helps us out - but I'm glad to help you out on this occasion.
I've given Moreless your weight loss result - hope that's ok with you, and Congratulations on your result. You've lost 2.5 pounds this week. Really good! I've not tried the Porridge Bread recipe yet - but hope to do so soon. Are you planning to do it yet, or have you already done so? Hope it turned out really well - I know you were going to post a picture when you do it, so hope to see that too.
Apologies for the late post, busy day. Anyway, 1/2 lb off for me. Am happy with that following a week of lunches & a girls night on Saturday. Taken me under 15 so the aim is to keep going down. Thanks to all posters for their comments. So good to know we're all in this together. Night all. Have a good week! 😀 xx
That's great that you've lost 0.5 pound this week, really well done! I know you've had some lunches out and a Girl's Night on Saturday, so you must have made some good choices - I hope you enjoyed those occasions. You're under 15 stone, so Congratulations!
Have a great night and another excellent week ahead.
Great that you popped in to join us, and Welcome!!! You've given your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok. You've also already lost 1 kg, that is brilliant. Congratulations!!!
Wishing you good luck and excellent success ahead - you've made a great start and I wish you a really great weight loss journey on the weight-loss wagon with us!
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in session, and it's great that you've joined us. I'd like to also give you a link to the Welcome Newbie post, that Moreless has put together, as it contains lots of information that you will hopefully find useful.
Most of us are following the NHS 12 week plan, and there's a link to that plan in the Newbie pack.
You've shared your starting weight, and I hope that felt ok to do so. Like you say, next Monday there will be further weight loss sessions (one in the Morning and another for the Afternoon/Evening) and so you can post your weight there, and hopefully you'll be reporting a reduction, all being well.
I'd recommend using an app to help you keep account of your food and drink intake, as well as exercise.
11.55pm Night night everyone, I think we Fab 5'ers are all turned in for the night now, and thank you to everyone for contributing to the Monday group weigh-in sessions today - it's been fun, and some inspiring posts as always.
I will pop in tomorrow morning to check incase there are any 'late' weighers - so please do still post if you want to catch the weigh-in opportunity.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead, and here's to an Onwards and Downwards trend for us all.
Hi. Sorry for late post. tried this morning but as many other by the look of it, I couldn't get in.
I weighed in at 83.2 kg this morning 😯 so I've gained 1.7 kg since I last posted in this group. (I think) it has been 3 weeks since my last weigh in due to busy times at work. I've also not had time to do any exercise or think to much about my eating so I'm not surprised I've gained. work have calmed down now so I'm back to basics counting calories and weighing all my food. and for the first time in almost 3 weeks i managed to hit my step target of 10000 steps today. so it's been a good and positive day 😆
Great to see you. Glad you got in now. As it's been 3 weeks since your last weigh-in, I will divide your 1.7kg gain by 3, to represent an average loss for 1 week of 0.6kg. Hope that's ok with you. Sounds like you've had a busy time of things at work, and as you say, you've had less time to exercise as a result.
Glad that work has now calmed down a bit, and I know you're back to basics now, so well done for achieving your step target of 10,000 steps yesterday, and glad you had a good and positive day.
I'm copying and pasting an entry by HappyMary as she posted her weight in the glitch reporting thread:
HappyMary said: "I only just tried. Late entry and I stayed the same. Haven't done measurements. Feel okay but have been more inclined to think about food.it's because I am tired and the kids are not well. It just upsets the all cart. The thread has a geek locked sign across the top. I have to log in."
Congratulations HappyMary on maintaining your weight - it's much better than gaining. So well done. Sorry to hear you are tired, and that the kids aren't well. Sorry to hear you had some difficulty with the thread - and thanks for reporting that in our glitch thread - I will see if we get any further feedback about it.
Weighing in late this week. I have a cold and spent most of yesterday in bed! Hadn't intended to but just kept dropping off.
Anyway, due to lack of appetite over last couple of days as a result of said cold, I have lost 1lb. So, last week 11st 12lbs, today 11st 11lbs. Yay!! I missed my regular excercise class on Sunday so it is all down to not eating much I think. Shame I didn't get to Zumba or it would have been more. Though I think there would have been a side trip to the hospital if I had gone as I would probably have fainted after 10 mins. Not a good idea.
I have not read what everyone has written this week but will do over the next few days. Everyone's story is always inspirational. I hope everyone achieved what they wanted to achieve. Commiserations to those who didn't. New week, new you and all that.
Thanks for your post about breakfasts lowcal. Not had time to look but I will.
Great to see you! I'm glad you tried to recuperate in bed yesterday to recover from your cold - you poor thing! I hope you feel better soon.
I suspect you're right that your reduced appetite has resulted in you losing 1 pound this week. I know you're feeling pleased to have lost a pound, so Congratulations!!! I'm glad you didn't go to Zumba with a cold, as it can be bad to push yourself at such times, and better to look after yourself and recover. Like you say, fainting wouldn't have been good.
You will have plenty to read through in terms of inspirational posts this week - really great outcomes for many many people, and inspiring ones from others who are looking ahead positively to the week ahead.
Hope you enjoy the Breakfast post too - there are lots of great breakfast suggestions there.
Have a great week, and hope you feel better really soon.
Lowcal
I missed last weeks weight in, I was in hospital trying to get my back pain controlled any given oral morphine and sent home. Anyway after a week of resting, and getting a earlier appointment at the pain clinic, I am here lost 1 1/2 lb over the 2 weeks. This was done with no exercise at all. Really pleased about this . Also enjoyed reading about your weight loss
It's good to see you again, and I hope your hospital appointment last week went well in terms of giving you some relief for your back pain. Great that you were able to get an earlier appointment at the pain clinic, and hope that was helpful.
Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds over 2 weeks - I'll divide it by 2 to get the weekly average, as we only include 1 week's data in the stats, so that will be 0.75 pound for this week - hope that's ok. It doesn't take away the fact you lost 1.5 pounds overall and that you're on an onwards and downwards trend. Congratulations!!!!
Thanks for your encouraging words, and here's to another great week ahead for us all.
Congratulations on losing 0.5 kgs this week, that is fantastic!
I think you're doing really well, and it's great that your husband commented positively about your shape yesterday. Also, that you're enjoying some walks 4 times a week, don't worry about your speed, it is great exercise, and I hope you're enjoying it.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
Really glad you've joined the Monday group weigh-in - and will look forward to seeing you at future weigh-ins.
Have been thrown off-course due to having to rush to the US for a family bereavement. My little 2 1/2 year-old nephew died unexpectedly and the past 8 days have been a blur... Anyway, will post back here when ready to rejoin the world, but for the mean time, good luck to all...
I am so sorry to hear the sad news regarding your nephew. My sincere condolences on your loss. Please take all the time you need, and we'll be here when you feel ready to rejoin the world - hope you have some supportive people around you at home, and I wish you all the best. Hope to catch up with you again when you feel ready to re-join us here.
I'm happy to hear you're going to be joining the Monday group weigh-in. There will be a Morning session which I will post just before 6.30am, and at that time the link will be updated in the Events section (right-hand-side of forum) so you can just click on the link there and you'll be directed to the right place. You can literally choose to weigh-in anytime on Monday that is convenient for you - so report it back as and when is convenient for you. At midday the link will be updated as the Afternoon/Evening post will be live - we split the threads up into sessions as the volume of people and traffic on the site gets quite busy, and occasionally the site can get a bit glitchy, but I really hope it will go smoothly. It usually works out and people are quite patient with it all.
If you prefer, you can click on follow and my name (Lowcal) and then you'll be automatically notified when the threads are posted. But hopefully you'll find the link easily.
Have a lovely weekend and hope to see you on Monday.
