Caffeine

I was wondering, does anybody else find that caffeine severely heightens their thoughts ? Understandably I know it’s a stimulant and increases anxiety! I’ve been stable on my medication for a while now but have found tonight a real struggle with responsibility obsessions and thoughts. Ruminating over the worst possible fears of things happening. Someone logged in to one of my private accounts from an unknown location this afternoon and before you know it I’m obsessing that they’re going to blackmail me and all sorts of insane things! it’s been a while since my heads taken it this far and the only thing I can think of is that today I had a few more coffees than my usual intake. I guess also it could just be a bad day! just looking for advice or shared experiences. Thank you :)

I've never noticed a connection with me but I have heard of others who have.

Have you ever kept a log of how much caffeine you have each day and how bad your obsessions were? That would probably be the most reliable way of determining if it really is an issue for you.

I've actually discovered that decaf is my new go to. I recently had two cups of half caf coffee and even that sent my levels through the roof. I can attest that there is a correlation between some peoples anxiety levels and caffeine.

Hopefully you're able to find a good balance.

Hi there! I’m a nurse and used to drink caffeine to survive my night shifts. That being said, I haven’t been able to drink any sort of caffeine lately (even tea...) as it heightens my anxiety to an extreme. Racing heart, racing thoughts, you name it!
