Whats your favourite film???

So I've watched the green Mile on numerous occasions and obviously Tom hanks has done some quality films, I never tire of watching this film, and is quite a moving film, the same goes for ghost, and for my thriller choice it's got to be internal affairs with Richard Gere, comedy wise it's a fish called Wanda, and one that's full of humour, along with the seriousness of life is twin towns, any others I can possibly relate to I'll try and see if I've seen them, sorry nothing new or from the recent cinema listings as I don't get out much πŸ˜€

Leslie Nielsen. Airplane, a hilarious movie!! One of my favorites!!

Too many to list. I don’t know that I could pick one favorite.

Maybe Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) or one of his spaghetti westerns πŸ‘

Love Clint Eastwood in any Western especially Pale Rider. Also love all the Raiders of the Lost Ark films or anything with Harrison Ford in.

My fave film is very sad - The Towering Inferno with Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and many other famous names too. Even Fred Astaire is in it!

2 fairly unknown cult films have probably been the most memorable. The Telephone box which gave me the chills. And A Question of Silence. I saw it many years ago at Uni. The men all came out scratching their heads while us women were saying OMG. Made me think a lot.

If you want to know more about a Question of Silence just ask. Its a film all women have to see.

Pale Rider was great! I thought it was similar to High Plains Drifter. I love them all!

That reminds me of The Poseidon Adventure with so many big names in it 😊

High Plains Drifter - yes! Loved the Poseidon Adventure.

I saw that one too many years ago. It is sad to me too. Have You Ever Seen The Poseidon Adventure? Almost like the Towering Inferno and it had many stars in it back in the day and the sadness factor too. The part where the woman swims to try to help the group really gets to me.

Love that film too. Shelly Winters played the swimmer. In the film she had a heart attack just after and died.

Hi CB. My favorite...hummmm not sure probably The Shaw Shank Redemption. Looking forward to seeing the new Joker movie with Lady GaGa. I just love her and all her weirdness. Saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice but didn't care much for the ending. How are you feeling lately?

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply toCookie2217

Yes loved that film as well, yes unfortunately still going through a difficult process with the hospital, I had another scan last week, but the pump that's used for administrating the dye via an injection failed to work properly and now need that done again, and now have to also do another 24 hour urine collection as there's a stress level marker showing its not quite right, so I'm hoping I can get some results soon, as I've had nothing back because of the delay, thanks for asking and hope you're doing OK?

Cookie2217 profile image
Cookie2217β€’ in reply toCb1963

Yes. I'm doing OK. My medication has been working terrific. I'm currently on Prozac 20 mg. and 10 mg. of Abilify as a booster. I used to be on Pristiq 100 mg but it stopped working awhile ago. I should have made the medication changed a lot sooner I might have saved me a four-year battle in a depressive episode if I had done that but when you aren't thinking correctly and can't find the gumption to do anything if you are having issues it's quite hard to do the work behind getting a medication change you know what I mean. Things are going alright with my job so far so good. I'm having fun decorating my new house just so which is quite cool. My husband and I sometimes do though have battles because he doesn't clean up after himself all the time LOL I don't know whether it's just the guy thing or I'm being a nag maybe a little of both LOL. So sorry to hear that you have to do those tests all over again that's quite a shame and I'm sure it's painful having to do them over and over again I hope they find something definitive soon so you can start working to feel better. Wishing you well soon as well as peace and well-being.

Well get your husband an apron and some rubber gloves and a bottle of bleach for his Christmas present 🎁 πŸ˜‰ 😏 that should drop a huge hint, glad you've got your medication is getting sorted and I hope you continue to stay happy and healthy πŸ˜€ take care chris

Has to be β€œUnforgiven” must have watched at least 7 times .

Looking For Mr Goodbar, Craig;s List Killer - Boston, White Oleander, Woody Allan's "Take the Money & Run", Where's Poppa, Rosemary's Baby, Dog Day Afternoon, Deliverance, Midnight Cowboy, Papillon.

Thank you! I forgot to add "Psycho" from 1960. It's in black & white, but still great, same with, "Schindler's List".

What about the boy in the striped pyjamas, that was an very emotive film

β€’ in reply toCb1963

I've hear of it, not seen it Supposed to be really good.... it's about a little boy holocaust survivor, right?

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply to

Unfortunately it wasn't about the boy surviving, but his demise through a tragic turn of events, a powerful film 😒

Really ..... I'm going to see if I can get it, one way or another. I've read several survivor books, so very fascinating, Have you seen "Sophie's Choice" from 1982, with Meryl Streep and Kevin Klein? It's excellent. I just got a DVD, "Single White Female" which was recommended. Have you seen it? Havent watched it yet. I love talking movies with you, hard to find someone who's so interested......

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply to

Think I've seen both of them, obviously I think they're both pretty older films, there's another type of film genre I like, I enjoyed watching Richard Gere as a bent police officer in a film called "internal affairs " Andy Garcia is his side kick and things take a drastic turn of events , I enjoy most films, even Jason and the argonauts, I wish they'd do a remake of this film with all the computer technology, and some top class actors would certainly be a blockbuster, and imagine the Skelton scene being done again πŸ˜‰

Yes you're right she was also in that, brilliant series πŸ‘

Really? Wow! What was the series' name? I've heard of Mona Lisa. You are correct - Steve McQueen/Dustin Hoffman. Did you see Richard Gere in "Looking For Mr Goodbar"? He's so young you can't even recognize him! Obviously, I like older movies, especially those made in 60's - 70's in New York City,

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply to

And strangely enough the television service was also called internal affairs, it wasn't a big smash on television, didn't really get the viewing audience reviews very friendly. The problem is as you get older I find I've forgotten a lot of films, I like denzel Washington and Tom hanks they've done some brilliant films, I've lost count I've watched the green mile, or castaway and terminal, and of course captain sully, I can quite happily sit and watch films on numerous occasions, I'm amazed how many science fiction films are introducing things that were sheer imagination before they've become factual, some of these weird technologies are like from 1984 George Orwell stuff, it's frightening how many things have come into existence!

β€’ in reply toCb1963

I've read 1984 years agao, I just remember we don't have flying cars yet!. You reminded me of my late mother - her favorite film was"Castaway", and I think of her every time I hear of it. It's nice. I've never seen Denzel in anything, believe it or not. Green Mile was so great - I love movies set in the not too distant past. Captain Sully happened near where I live, How about the original Death Wish? Love it; seen it a hundred times.

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963

I watched a film the other night with denzel in, called flight, he's a drunken airline pilot, he's done some great films, I actually enjoyed " face off" with Nicholas cage and John Travolta, another type of science fiction film but we've actually had face transplants, oh yes I vaguely remember old Charlie bronson, there's been numerous films I've watched, even a fish called Wanda had me in stitches I watch more or less anything and Gene Hackman has done some epic films!

Gene Hackman's great, what was that movie in early 70's where he's a cop tring to outrun a train? Based on a true story, I'm pretty sure. He also had a small part in Young Frankenstein - funny! My mom had recommended Face/Off, and A Fish called Wanda - haven't done it yet.

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963

O I really can't remember, I watched one film the other night where he was a politician involved with an affair where Kevin Costner was the murder suspect, yes there's numerous films worth watching!!!

Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, Woody Allen's "Sleeper", Holocaust, A Christmas Story, The Producers - 1967, Rabbit Test -with Billy Crystal.

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply to

Your going back some years now, Billy Crystal wasn't he when Harry met Sally?

You know, I'm not really sure; I've never seen that one. I love old movies, as you can tell, but romantic ones are not my thing... I believe Rabbit Test was Billy Crystal's first movie, from about 1978 - maybe earlier. It's hysterical, if you have that kind of goofy sense of humor. You come up with the most interesting questions - keep them coming!

I forgot to add What's Up, Doc?, with Barbra Streisand.

Cb1963 profile image
Cb1963β€’ in reply to

I remember that one, and yes it was the same Billy Crystal that was in that when Harry met Sally, yes I cheated on just checked with Google 1989 film lol
