Hi over the last few months I had been suffering anxiety once April and I have been putting off having medication for it as I didn’t want to be on antidepressants but I had to do something I can tell u when I first stared I was on sertraline and it was horrible gave me bad side effects so stoped it after 5 days and changed to Escitalopram first week I had chest pain and I had lack of sleep so had to take pain medication and sleeping medication I never felt refreshed and had a headache 🤕 and one day my anxiety was so high while on it almost came off it as felt bad. Then no anxiety suddenly I thought u no what keep going keep going it should only get better hopefully with time It should and I am on day 12 at the moment I don’t feel like all the side effects have gone but most have I don’t have the bad headache anymore I still get a little pain but nothing like what I had and also I sleep so well now it’s unbearable u just have to get into a good sleep pattern I make sure I go to bed about half 11 not to early or I lay there thinking about it I then make sure I am awake by 8 I feel like I can lay in and sleep more but I just force myself to wake and stay so I can sleep well the next day it’s been so nice to be able to sleep again I would also recommend taking a drink of tart cherry juice or just cherry juice in general as that’s got lots of natural melatonin in and will help sleep and also have some almonds in a milky drink or nuts and that has it in as well. I don’t have anxiety at the moment due to the medication I can deffo say it’s changing my life I couldn’t be left at home on my own without feeling sick and anxious all the time but now I feel calm I don’t feel refreshed but I feel melo I am also managing to work I haven’t been able to work well for months and I am loving it starting to feel like me I wonder what I will feel like by 4 weeks time when it’s all ment to be settled I don’t want to be on this long term but if I had to be to help I wouldn’t say no as it’s really making a difference don’t give up on the medication so soon give it time to work and take ur mind off the side effects by working or going out and seeing a friend/ family or taking long walks reading tv or somthing just do what creates fun to take ur mind off the side effects and before u no it u will be like yourself again fingers crossed good luck let me all no how u get on xxxxxxx

Thank you for the good news! Perseverance until the side effects of medication decrease is the key. The trouble with medications in general is that what is good for one body doesn't work for someone else.

Yes I agree but just try x

Well done if you gain confidence in your treatment Pathway we will begin to understand the additional ways of controlling your mental health concerns. You mention Cherry juice, great, yes it is something that works for you so you follow your own thoughts, expectations and feel better for it.

It is important you keep taking your medications, it may take time to feel more positive in your mental health, Although you need to remember there is a very good chance you will get better and get on with your live

I wish you well
