This is my first post. Having bipolar can feel so isolating at times, I was diagnosed over 2 years ago with Bipolar type 1 and it’s affected my life a lot. It would be good to hear from others, especially if you also have anxiety/an eating disorder. I finished group therapy for bipolar just before this lockdown and while it helped me a lot, I still battle on with anxiety especially. Hope you guys are doing ok despite everything going on!

Hi, I've had bipolar all my adult life alongside a variety of additional problems which have altered over the years, but usually include anxiety e type of one flavour or another.
Anyway, I just wanted to reach out and say hi x
Hi!! Welcome! I didn’t realize there was a mental health support group - thanks for posting!
I hope you’re able to find the support here that you’re looking for. I know I have really appreciated hearing from you on my posts. It’s nice to have a space where you can vent or ask for advice and be heard. You’ll get out of it what you out in... if that makes sense.
I was in a girls therapy group when I was in high school and it really helpful to me. (The girls in my group had eating disorders and I didn’t, but we shared a similar battle with perfectionism, anxiety, depression, control issues, and self esteem). It was really a place where we could support each other, understand what was going on in others and then understand ourselves better, and I guess I felt less alone.
Mental health just impacts all areas of your life and can be pretty consuming. Especially with the comorbidity of diagnoses.
It can be a challenge to take care of yourself. It’s nice to meet you! I hope you’re doing alright!!

Thank you :), yes Ive been in various groups over the years. It’s great that it helped you. I’m currently in a bipolar therapy group (or was before lockdown) and I’ve been in a depression support group in the past and did group therapy for eating disorder. There is something great about talking to others with shared experience.
Hi, I have just read your post. I have lived with bi polar 2 and anxiety since I was 20, I’m now 64! I was also bulimic for 8 years so I understand. It is so, so tough but you can and WILL get through it. I can recommend a really good book- Mind Over Mood by Dennis Greenberger and Christine Padesky. Also find a really good doctor , keep looking till you get one that understands you and that you can connect with, it can save your life!
Take care of yourself, I wish you all the best. 😘
Thanks I appreciate it. It is so so hard, especially when Im having an episode. I’m getting help from my community mental health team but we only have 1 or 2 Psychiatrists so I can’t chose. I’ve had some great ones and others who weren’t. I’ll check that book out, Me and my family found ‘Bipolar the ultimate guide’ by Amanda Saunders and Sarah Owen really helpful. My Dad also has Bipolar so it’s good to talk to him as he really gets it even if our experiences aren’t the same.
