This will be the forth type of medication my husband has been prescribed. He is pretty down at the minute. I was wondering how long it takes to work, did you feel worse before you felt better, did you feel like your weren't quite with it eg a bit spaced out or that there was another one of you in your head.
Also, did you try any type of counselling alongside the medication?
I'm just looking for a bit of support as a partner with someone suffering it is hard to stay strong and positive when you don't really know whether you are doing the right thing.

Hi. My daughter is currently on Mirtazapine. It took a while for her to get to a point where it’s now doing something. Shes been on it since December. She’s had the dose increased 3 times now and it’s starting to make a difference. She is also seeing a counsellor.
She does feel a bit spaced out at times but I was putting that down to her not sleeping. Thankfully she’s started sleeping better and her mood is definitely a lot better.
Thank you so much for your reply. I have said to him maybe a dose increase is what is needed. He is afraid though. How long was your daughter taking it before the dose increased?
Hi Sharon, definitely has helped her sleep better since changing to 45mg. I’ve noticed a huge difference in her mood as well and she commented that she’s sleeping better
That’s interesting as I can go up to 45mg but I’m not sure if to or not, I’m doing ok but wake up in the night still. And I feel that spaced out feeling and didn’t want to feel worse. 🤔 I’ve been on 30mg for 4 weeks now. Thanks for chatting
Yes sounds like it, I might well do so. Does she suffer from anxiety aswell if you don’t mind me asking as it’s good for that too and I get anxious which causes me to feel down. It’s a crap condition to have but with tablets I’ve been able to control mine well, I’ve just had to change medications which has been a pain.
hi been on 45mg for years did seem to work in one department but not so others I still don't sleep great and they started losing the desired effect.tried coming off them it was terrible and ended up back on them.
Positive : sleep so much better and they really help anxiety and depression..
Negative : I felt sluggish and quite tired nxt day, although I go suffer with M. E.
This drug also gives you an enormous appetite.. I piled on weight.. Which was too debilitating for me.
I stopped taking this drug and are now taking Lamotrigine instead.
Mirtazapine worked pretty quickly for me, although I took it inially to support me in tapering of Venlafaxine..(antidepressant). I was taking 300 mg of Venlafaxine and reduced it to 150mg. Mirtazapine was brilliant for this.
I was on mirtazapine for a little while. It did help with sleep but I had to stop taking it because I ended up having a really bad reaction to it.
