Hello, I suffered some trauma which sent my anxiety sky rocketing about 4 weeks ago. I started Zoloft and ended up upping the 50mg dose to 100mg but in doing that it feels like my anxiety has sky rocketed. Is this normal? Will I ever feel sane again?

You need to allow five weeks for the initial dose to work, you have increased the or doubled the dose, given that you will need to allow extra time say a further two to three weeks to allow the drug to get to that higher level in your system. Then you will then need to be patient and allow time to recover your positive moods.
Has your GP decided on an additional pathway for you to follow ??

See doctor again rather than us dosage without their understanding or call the doc an leave a message. They want to know how you are doing and to determine where to go from here. They know you history and what you might find helpful. sometimes you can half them should doc agree rather than double a dose. Zoloft has been a good med in the past, so talk to the doc to use him as your partner in this venture.
Hi Flappy,
Yes, it can be a side effect of taking Zoloft (Sertraline) that your anxiety increases. If you read your Patient Information leaflet (PIL) that should be inside your medicines box you will see that this is included in the list, along with other important safety information you need to know. I will put an e-link to more information about Zoloft (which I presume is the US form of Sertraline). Also, do have a chat with your doctor about the effects it is having as he/she needs to be closely monitoring you when you start taking this medicine or when the dosage is changed. Do not, however, suddenly stop taking this medication without medical advice, as you can suffer a rebound effect.

Hope this helps.
