Some people find they feel worse for a few weeks after first taking sertraline. I definitely felt more agitated and anxious. Not sleeping either. I stopped taking it and my GP put me on mertazipine which was better. Still wake up early and anxious. Anxiety wears off during the day.

the side effects on sertraline are awful but you need to give it at least 6/8 weeks before the should subside and you will feel better . Trust me , you’ve got this

Agree. Hang tight Jameish77. It needs to build in your system, and your brain has to adjust.

I know it’s really hard but be patient - you will hopefully start to see small improvements any time now but by week six it had turned my daughter around. Her anxiety has got better, she sleeps more and has stopped feeling so sick, which means she is able to go to school. That was at 50mg, we are now waiting to see the effects of 100mg. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I’ve been on 200mg for the past 3 years. It made everything so much better, it pulled me from a very dark place. I take it alongside 30mg Mirtizapine. It’s helped me lead a more normal life then I ever thought would happen after my breakdown.
