I have been suffering with depression for about a year and a half now. Referred myself back to the therapy partly because my intrusive thoughts were getting worse, but also because I needed my parents understand. The constant arguments were not helping me so...
My dad came to my therapy session last week and basically was told everything, he is much more understanding. However there's a long way to go. If anyone is struggling to tell their loved ones exactly what's going on and you are seeking help, give them leaflets to read, talk to them about it, and bring them along to therapy!

It is a shame that those close to us are unable to understand our needs when we are Anxious or overwhelmed with Depression or Anxiety. Sometimes letting them tag around when visiting our therapists can help. The last time I was having treatment for my Mental Health concerns my wife started to tag along after my five weeks of tests. The attendance helped Her understand my problems and they introduced assistance for Her if ever She needed it, part was contact numbers and self help groups she was able to attend is she felt overwhelmed because of my mood changes and depression.
I am not saying your Father and mother need that assistance, what I am saying sometimes those who love us need to understand the struggles we are going through. They also need to consider how to be cruel but kind and sometimes control or help the situation if our condition becomes a problem and how to arrange help.
People with mental or physical health conditions need to put their lives into some form of perspective. Family or life partners can help if they are allowed to. Remember sometimes people around us can see the source of our concerns and help rationalize our worries so there is nothing wrong with those around us explaining and contradicting our extreme actions and thoughts when ill. Understanding our problems does help
I fell down a flight of stairs last week and I was lucky just to get bruises. Lol
Wish you well with your family, like you my parents and my old employer did not understand what was happening. Eventually the Companies Medical Examiner butted in and they decided to retire me out. I went through hell with the disability and my Parents could not understand what had just happened, I was called some choice words. That was over thirty years ago and since then I have never worked again.
Support and understanding at the time would have really helped me. Now been an OAP it still gets to me.

Great advice guitarfreak357... parents are no different than anyone else...except maybe they care alittle more about us. I just said it in a reply to someone else...theres no handbook on life..its a crapshoot. In a world where not to many people speak face to face anymore..life has become harder..even with simple easy issues.Koodos to u for getting urself some help and finding different ways to help ur parents understand what u r going through. Its all about communication.. whether face to face or drawing a cartoon for someone to understand where ur at.Everyone is here for ya if and when u need us!!
Same with me... My mom just refuses to Believe I have a problem.. She keeps saying it's all in my head.. I should worship God.. listen to bk shivani lectures.. Stay positive... I try but it's so hard.. Living is so tough... I tried asking her to read about depression and anxiety but she is adamant that I am fine becoz I dont express myself much becoz I end up getting scolded anyway.. It sucks.. Thankfully my dad is a doctor so he understands..
