I am 34 and diagnosed with bipolar II for 18 years. I finally have found a good cocktail of medicines that are keeping things fairly well in check.

That's great. What meds are you on? PM me if you don't want to post it publicly. I would just like to know what has worked for you. Gemma x

I am on Prozac for depression, we just upped to 40 mg, it's been helping. I'm also on a mood stabilizer, lamotrigine at 100 mg. That has been the biggest help. I still do talk therapy regularly as well. I'm in a pretty good place, for now.

That's great. Yes I've heard very good things about lamotrigine. I have a friend who is bi-polar and for some reason is on a rispiridone injection. It doesn't suit them at all and I don't really understand why they can't try lamotrigine though I know they were forgetting to take their meds so maybe that is the reason. Maybe you can't take lamotrigine via injection.

My friend feels terrible completely lacking in motivation but they will not take her off the injection. She has begged. I tried to support her but she says they won't budge on their decision. Thanks for sharing anyway and I'm glad the meds are working for you; that's great.

Hi Bluetoo

So good to hear that you have found a good balance for yourself and are happy with your current medication regime. I have always thought I might have bipolar or BPD I hold down a full time job and have done for years, I’m 38 but when I stop my antidepressants I just go downhill emotionally I get so low tearful and can’t think about anything but my past also feeling like a complete failure for my age, never married and no kids or home of my own, but once im on sertraline I am calm, happy and can deal with things better, I’m also grateful for having my health and it puts things in perspective for me. I just wander sometimes if there is something seriously wrong with me mentally or I just lack serertoin, I know nobody can diagnose on here, but it’s a great support group to compare or share symptoms/feelings/advice.

My late dad was very similar to me and he was my best friend Unfortunately he passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly at 48 so I find it difficult to talk to openly to friends for the fear of being judged

Thanks
