My self esteem is shot and i have to start looking for a new job its been a few months since I left my life is just all over the place at 36 ..and I need a grip I have been in counseling etc for a few months Meds are not working what else is left death ? Talk to your GP in the first instance, if you are feeling really down and about to do something silly just go to ER and talk to the Community Mental Health team. Meds sometimes take a while to work or you need to try a few. I found Prozac works for me* but now I am on an antipsychotic so that probably helps but clearly Mine is a different situation. So,

Try and keep on keeping on and make an effort to find the help you need. Counselling may well not be enough (I've not found it particularly helpful in the past, ok but nothing like a psychiatrist and that whole system).

Sorry for your problems and good luck for the future!

* hi. It "worked" but not very strong. My brother took a few tries to find an effective antidepressant medications. I would push for a change or referral in your instance. The MIND charity helpline can help you, there are many resources out there.

Pocha- breakup of relationships are seriously painful and trigger these unwanted and sickened emotions which can result in depression, again, this is a major trigger in my life and I've been single now for 4 years, everytime I get close to someone or even the one night stand scenario , the feelings are crazy, I cannot even begin to explain, but I would say past experiences continue to haunt me and trigger grief which can ultimately trigger the depression and so on! However I fight this....

What your feeling is normal in terms of your ex walking away from you, that happen to me in a different scenario and it's taken till recent months to accept that - taking control of the situation as it is now will help you. I decided to go no contact for a few months, I've never contacted that person ever since despite their best efforts to contact me! I would strongly say you are a special person and with that you own your own self, you are beyond relying on anybody else to make you happy, that ain't their job, you can survive this and you will, do not allow your understandable raw emotion and related depression make for a worse case scenario, the only way is up from here. Just think in a few months time how good will that feel if you start the work now ;)
