Hey guys! After 15 years my doctor has decided to take me off my antidepressants.... to say I was worried was an understatement but it’s been roughly a month and a half and mentally I’m never better. Although physically I’m broken! Fibromyalgia sucks!!!! But do u know what, I’m happy! Just wanted to write as I was looking back at somethings I was following and some of the posts I wrote.... cringe ... but it’s all learning and thanks for being here!

Hi Whatsthepoint,

The fact that you don't have to take antidepressants any longer is a good thing to be celebrated. :) I would be concerned too about what might happen if the suggestion to stop taking them was put to me.

Did you go on a slow taper over a period of time to make the transition to zero meds successful?

The things we write when the going gets tough are another tool to coping at the time so never feel embarrassed about the content. It's just historical fact and as you say, a learning experience. Support from your peers is so invaluable so being here is an honour.

I just stopped the completely as there was a mix up. I was on sertiline and a new doctor I had an appointment with switched them to another make (can’t remember the name) and I felt awful so I binned them and got an appointment with my doctor and he agreed that I could just try with out them. He gave me his personal mobile number and told me if I ever felt like I needed them again (sertiline) I can just call the heath center and I won’t need an appointment I can just get more as he says I know my mind better than he does! But so far I’m doing good, winter is stressful and I do have an awful lot coming up but I’m coping and my husband is fully aware of all my troubles and is good at spotting if I go down and is not shy to tell me if I’ve not noticed. I’m hopeful that I can get through the winter with out medication and then see what the “better weather” brings !
