Hi, so I am 17 and recently took a high dose of lysergic acid the first 4-5 hours was just like any other trip then all of a sudden my eye rolled back and the whole right side of my body went completely numb I felt very confused and when I tried to stand coordination with the right side of my body was difficult ( this all happened for about 3 mins) then everything came back to me like nothin happened but then the muscles in my stomach (right side) started spazzing out both my limbs on the right side as well this went away after 30 minutes of sitting in my bed trying to calm my self down. It has been a whole 2 weeks since this happened and since then I can not for the life of me get this feeling of anxiety to go away I’ve been so scared and I can’t get it to go away. We went to the doctors for some help ( I of course couldn’t tell the doctor what really happened because my mom was right there) they gave me meds for the anxiety but it just made it worse because I went to my GFs house and I couldn’t get hard they said it’s Bc of the meds and it will come back to me but now I’m scared to take the meds and I am telling my parents the anxiety is gone ( it’s definitely not) Because I’m scared of what it will do to me. So to end this all I just want to know how to get it to go away I can’t stop thinking about the other night I even dream about it. It’s like I can be in a conversation and talking and act happy but in reality I’m thinking about what happened and I also can’t help but think that I’m just trying to distract my self from this feeling and I’m trying to replicate the feeling of being happy nothing works I’ve tried and tried I just want to feel not scared like I’m not gonna die if I let up for a second and just relax but I can’t I’ve tried everything.
Please help me : Hi, so I am 17 and... - Mental Health Sup...
Please help me
I don't really know the best solution to your anxiety, but if they gave you something like prozac or sertraline, then they are wrong to be making any promises that the sexual dysfunction will improve. They don't know that. It could even get a lot worse in a worst case scenario. I'm pointing this out because doctors often don't properly warn people about the risk of damage to sexual function, which may even be long term damage.
Well no they were right after 24 hours it came back everything works what I’m saying is I’m scared to take it agin and I’m telling my parents my anxiety is fine Bc I don’t want it
Can you call the doctor's office and speak to a nurse or someone at the office? They should respect your privacy.
Yea I can but what will they say? Don’t do acid agin? Duh I don’t want to ever do it agin Bc I now have constant anxiety and fear from the other night I just wish I could calm my mind and feel normal agin
It is important you speak to a doctor who understands drugs, capable of the whole problem this caused as it sounded a lot like a stroke and this needs to be addressed with you and the doctor. He has to keep your problem confidential but it would serve you well that the parents are on your side to assure you get the help you need. These type of drugs can have long lasting affects and need to be told to your doctor and one who understands drugs and the side effects. You think you know the side effects from your buds but a professional can give you the facts and fear is good if you act on it as you know, and you body is telling you, you need more help than you received. If they did not do blood tests or urine samples they only have part of the picture and you need additional help. Please listen to your fears and take brave action. I had a stroke. It is no picnic when you are paralyzed. If you do not get the help you need it could have severe repercussions. Only an MRI can tell you if the drug affected your brain or nervous system. Sounds like they did not have the full truth if these tests were not done and they just treated you for anxiety, so counter to your physical repercussions from a long lasting drug like you took. Trails are common as well as the anxiety could last for. ages if it upset that part of your nervous system. You are messing with fire with these kinds of drugs since some cells can remain damaging to the brain. they used to thing cocain was a psychological drug but then found out this was not true, so I do not care what you friends tell you, they do not know what a good doctor knows for certain and you only hope they catch the damage before it escalates your situation. I fear for you and hope you get the help you desperately need.
Hi Dp21, drugs (illegal) is not the answer mate speaking from experience and yes the first thing a doctor will say is don't do drugs then it won't happen again. Yer doc but it ain't that easy when my life is hell and so on.
Whether you were taking them for a laugh, to leave reality, stress, anxiety or to get away from pain in your life it don't. Do you mind stating why you were taking acid in the first place?
You need to go back to the doctors without you mother and explain what has happened as they would have been treating you for an anxiety disorder rather than owing to the effects (psychological) of the drug which is to different things. The anxiety has been brought on by the drug, Yes the medication they give you could be the same (what was it as you haven't stated) but the treatment around it such as therapy would be different.
There is no quick fix for what you are feeling. You are full of anxiety fearing what happened will happen to you again. In short no drugs and it won't happen again, you are suffering a psychological response to what happened and the anxiety won't leave until you you deal with it and speaking to someone will help, even if they arnet medically trained.
I was in a coma last year and the things I went through was of the chart. I have PTSD and suffer badly from it, I tried therapy but they failed to help me and I am still on the list waiting. However I found talking to someone (my partner) helps more than all the meds as it helps me to rationalised what happened and get it out of my system for a few hours each time it gets longer. Can you speak to your girl friend or sit down and talk to your mum?
Regarding the meds they give you without knowing what they are it is difficult to comment. However you need to give them time to get in your system to start working, Sertralin for example takes 5 weeks or so and whatever they gave you if you just stop you then have withdraws to deal with. So it sounds like you never gave them enough time to work and with the added effect of erectile dysfunction which can also be caused by stress you stopped taking them. Then you would be going through withdrawals and back to square one. You need to take the meds and give them time, I know it is hard for a young man and not being able to perform but it is a question then between sex or medication that could help you. Yes they could make it worse, but then it could even out and be fine or there are other medications to try. If you taken them properly and deal with the anxiety through therapy you may only needs them for a short time. I wish I had dealt with my problems from a young age but by the time I was 17 I was on loads of meds, I also had an autoimmune disease and past abuse I had to deal with. I am 31 and I am still searching for a cure and really wish I had dealt with it when I was younger and had more fight in me.
I am not trying to preach at you as n-one has the right to as they have no idea what YOU are going though. My advice is to take the medications properly, go to the doctor and ask for a referral for therapy and tell them the truth why you feel the way you do so they can send you to the right service and it takes times like months, speak to your mum if you can or another adult as you will be surprised what they have been through and what they can handle you telling them, also speak to your girl friend about what you are going through and say there will be more times where I may not be able to perform but there are loads of other things you can do 'wink wink' and this will ease the anxiety and will help. Hope you find the help you need.
Thank you for your response but I don’t think I will be taking any medicine I have never had to and it’s crazy I went from being a boxer and scared of nothing an no one to how I am now 12 days after a trip I get what you are saying but I think there isn’t a cure I’m never gonna stop thinking about it and I just have to accept it ig.
Try getting some therapy from your GP or charities such as Frank or Mind. Trying to forget about it can be worse and bring it back months or even years later. I hope you find the help you need and it's a step forward asking for it which is the first step.
If you don't want to go down the medication route when I first started to have mental health problems I got my energy out through walking and creativity. Hiking with my dogs allowed me to clear my mind and escape while being creative kept me busy. Maybe boxing could do the same for you and also try medication and writing down how you feel like a diary. Then in a few months you can compare to how you feel to see i there is a difference.
Your right there is never a cure and you will always remember it but how you feel and react to what happen is something you can change and control. I was in a coma last year and the medications they put you on to sedate and paralyse you trip you out and there is nothing you can do about it. So I know how scary it must be for you. I will never forget it but I am learning to live with it, rather than letting it consume me. Talking about it has helped me loads, it may not work for everyone as talking about me problems has never worked for me in the past but this time it has. Sorry I can't be anymore help other than advising you to find an outlet which you have (boxing), get support from family and friends and never forgetting what happens means you would stay away from drugs so I don't happen again.
I took a fair amount of acid when I was younger. This may or may not have caused my social anxiety, but tbh it was in the family anyway. It will probably take a while for you to recover but I'm sure as you are young and with the right help, you will.
Drugs are part of experimenting when we are younger for a lot of people, illegal or not it's a fact of modern life ( alcohol and cigarettes can be just as damaging.)
You need to talk to someone non judgemental and clued up on drugs. Someone gave you a link to Frank on here that's good.
I would also straight away get an appointment yourself with your doctor and tell the truth so they can help you understand what happened, you could even go to a private doctor if you have the money.
The main thing is not to dwell on it, it happened and now you have to just look after your body. If you don't want to take prescription drugs ( avoid it if you can, it's a nightmare coming off them) try some yoga/ meditation and alternative therapies, plant based medicine.I know this might not appeal to you but it really does help and maybe try seeing a therapist to talk it out. Talk to your girlfriend too.
I'm sure you won't be going near acid again. I stopped when I realised what I was messing with.
You mention you were a boxer. Did you ever have any blows to the head? Mention that to the doctor too just incase it's related.
It's good you came on here to talk. Goodluck. Don't regret any life experiences, we're here to learn. Goodluck and courage to you.
