Corporate favouritism

Absolutely gutted applied for a job doing something I know really well. Plucked up the courage to go to the interview which I haven't had for a long time due to my anxieties . I have applied and then cancelled the applications due to lack in self confidence . I got told today I didn't have the job as people had applied who had been on management training workshops and that was the only reason for their advantage. Iv worked for the company for 10 years and never heard of one of these and I would have due to being friends with managers etc. So basically they have given the job to someone they know as per and dressed it up as an interview . It's not what you know it's who you know . You can be the best at your job and just because someone else brown noses their way through life and you have integrity you lose out. Absolutely fuming really feel like just walking out. Hands down Iv had enough

Hi Ross, cut yourself some slack and a pat on the back. You completed the application form and submitted it. Then you attended the interview, did you best, and they only got the job because if who they knew and not what they knew about the work. You are entitled to be angry, we all would be. So look at the positives and what you have achieved, that's what counts. Do are other members agree with me? .

Hi I am sorry you had to endure this. I have been in the same situation a couple of times in my working life. It doesn't mean you aren't good enough - it just means someone else was deemed more suitable. Why not make it clear to them that you are still interested in the other person doesn't work out. Sometimes this happens.

In my last job I was working as a long term temp then applied for my own job. Despite being told several times how was good at it (and by the manager) they gave it to a young girl. I was told later that I was a lot better at it and she left after 3 months anyway!

Sometimes life isn't fair! Now I know you are hurt and I get this but calm down a bit before making any decisions about whether you want to stay there or not. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Take care. x
