Can't skeep: chronic worry

Was given mirtazapine, unable to sleep, advised to give up Caffeine or have it much earlier in the day for a few days to see if it made a difference. Anyway the second night I took it I had an even worse sleep didn't feel sedated at all, wide awake I took magnesium citrate in desperation to try to sleep it didn't really work, just upset my stomach and I ended up with an hour and a half sleep.

So last night I took promethazine 50mg, 1 1/4 hours sleep, ended up taking clonazepam at 7pm and eventually got another 3 hours. Once again no caffeine.

Not sure what's wrong with me not sure if it's my stomach keeping me up I can't seem to stop thinking lost my faith in pretty much all of their medications to do anything to get me to sleep.

Tried amitriptyline, olanzapine, mianserin etc I'm a sleep keeps getting worse and worse.

And the more bad nights I have the more it seems to occupy my mind all the time

Provided you have no allergy or health problems that require special diet

Are you finding a way to relax in bed? For me, listening to an audiobook helps. It occupies my mind as I drift off, rather than obsessing over worries. I've discovered you even process the story in your sleep, as I found to my regret the night I fell asleep listening to Mr. Mercedes. Bad idea.

Think I'm spending too much time focusing on what medication to take

Hi sorry to hear your going through Mirtazapine is the only medication from that range of meds that actually helps to shut me me down night time and I've tried a good few...I'm on 45mg but my GP worked me up to that dose I also have Escitalopram 5mg with it...sometimes it take a little while to find the right combination of medications to work for an individual don't give up hope.

Is your anxiety about sleep and worrying that your not going to sleep keeping your mind alert.look up cbti it's about sleep and how we get in the loop of anxiety about it.also you can use zopiclone to help sleep but cannot use it for long.if your in the UK look up sleepstation in some places it's free on NHS otherwise its £165 I think.good look and be kind to yourself

I believe the right magnesium to take for sleep is magnesium glycinate. I believe citrate helps you go to the bathroom.

Also do not give up! I’m on the hard journey of finding the right meds also. You’re not alone in that for sure. Keep trying!

I’m currently weaning off mirtazapine. It does help sleep but it made me gain weight and didn’t help my anxiety at all
