3 weeks sober ...

I finally got sober after a 6 month binge, I was drinking 30-40 units a day. I know I could of killed myself, after a week in hospital I’m home.

I have been having the worst panic attack’s I’ve ever experienced, I’ve had them on and off since I was 15. I’ve been taking Mirt 45mg not really finding it helpful might even be making me worse.

Any tips for panic attacks and just generally getting my life back? I have to mention I lost my job due to my drinking.

What strength you have shown so far. It's so hard to recognize a drink problem and get help for it.

You know it's a day at a time thing. Have u got involved with AA or any other support group?

Panic attacks, I've only ever had that feeling once- but it was so horrible to feel out of control of my body.

My daughter has had them. But it's usually in response to a stressful trigger situation. We worked to remove the trigger or gave her ways not to get so stressed.

I think once in an attack you just have to ride it out. Trying to stop it isn't really possible from my experience.

I really sympathize as this response to stress is a truly awful experience and affects people so much.

Hoping you get some good advice from fellow sufferers. But I will check in again and add more if I can think of something useful. X

Thank you for taking time to reply :) I have worked with an alcohol recovery service in my local town. It’s so strange I feel lonely a lot now as I’m not in the pub with all the people I met etc .. I need to get out and meet new people and get my life back.

Yes - that's really helpful for maintaining recovery and good mental health. Any hobby or interest group you could join locally? Also exercise is good - any local team you could join - it would kill two birds with one stone as it were.

Meantime keep get involved here. Online groups great if u lonely and isolated. It's really helped me out. You can message people as well and I chat to folks that way about life etc. so you can keep in touch with me like that if you want.

I’d love to get back in the gym and get my excess energy out. And I’ve always noticed my anxiety is at its lowest when I workout a lot.

I’d love to chat :) I’m a very lonely person at the moment.
