I have Fatty Liver Disease and have had a liver biopsy. The liver biopsy is sensible to look to see whether you have any fibrosis that may have progressed to Cirrhosis. If that is the case then you could be heading for a liver transplant

I hope that your consultant guides you to perfect health. Fatty liver is not good even though many people have it. At the moment my fatty liver is very diffuse and both my liver and spleen are enlarged. I had a liver biopsy a few years ago and it found a small amount of fibrosis but nowhere near cirrhosis. Strangely my liver function tests have always been excellent. Shout if the forum can help you.

I understand that you're going through a challenging time with your liver health. It must be difficult to deal with the potential of progressing to cirrhosis. I hope that your biopsy results provide clarity on your situation. Fibrosis can sometimes be managed, so it's important to work closely with your doctor to explore all treatment options and lifestyle changes that may help.

Can you share more about how was your lifestyle and what was your eating or drinking habits? I was searching for the possible reasons for liver damage, I found that alcohol affects the liver badly and you can check the rate as per your drinking cycle. If you share more, it will be helpful for more.

I am also sharing the source from where I read this.

Hi doctor said I have diffuse hepatic steatosis could be from medication could be from lots of things but more examinations to come as I feel I need to know exactly what is going on and other doctors have just said fatty liver disease

Diffuse hepatic steatosis and fatty liver disease are, effectively, the same thing. Have you had an ultrasound? Having an MRI may be as they are looking for something particular and a biopsy would not be sufficient.

I have just had a review ultrasound and my liver is back to normal size and is looking better than it has for a while. I have been on Tirzepatide for my diabetes and that may be having the beneficial effect on my liver. I eat a lot less now and have lost 25Kg in weight. My blood sugars are now at non-diabetic level.

Wow that's great u really seem to be beating your condition my doctors just don't know all blood tests are normal apart from alt ast and gamma test are showing four times over normal range pain around abdoman and a very what looks like bloated belly i look pregnant sorry to use that expression but I look awful even face and neck look bloated and all they say is fatty liver disease change your life no medication been off work mental health bad just don't know what to think. Hope u get better to

Sounds as if you may have a problem with bile flow and your docs will need to know if the problem is in the liver or bile duct - hence the MRI.

Hi just had doctors mri result everything is clear they have found a small benign cyst on right kidney a hiatus hernia also small and benign bile ducts all clear no gallstones but severe hepatic steatosis with recommendation to lose weight and diet and exercise see my consultant in three months and good luck sort of letter no medication or help as yet so I don't know if I'm further forward or not

Are you overweight? Do you have diabetes? Do you have a diet containing a lot of carbohydrates or fats? Do you get much exercise?

Looking at good diet and exercise is likely to affect positively both your diabetes status and your liver health. I am diabetic and have lost 25 Kg (with the help of Tirzepatide prescribed along with Metformin for my diabetes). I am only 80Kg now and my blood sugars are at non-diabetic levels. A recent scan shows that my liver size (now normal) and fat infiltration have also improved. Despite living with diabetes for over 25 years, I have no diabetic complications.
