For the last 2 years I have had thrush as diagnosed by my doc. I have tried Canesten and Lexerma they work temporarily but are otherwise useless, . A special (expensive) shower gel- is equally useless.
It is no big deal and does not affect my life really but won't go away mildly painful in certain places under my arms in particular from time to time and my skin is sort of mildly red. I have even tried youghurt. To no apparent effect.
Any bright ideas?

The root cause is likely your immune system which obviously decreases with age. My dad (a mere 69!) suffers from thrush despite supporting his immune system with nutrition and lifestyle. When it flares up, he finds extra doses of echinacea helps 🤞
Thank you. I know it's to do with immune system and anti-bodies in the body as you get older. I have been to a specialist skin doctor and she told me I have thrush immediately (one glance). I said I thought it was a 'woman thing' she said absolutely NOT and proceeded to show me some amazing pictures on her big screen, much much worse than mine. My problems are minor and don't affect my life really but after 2 years or so it won't go away.
You say it clears temporarily which suggests the treatment is working and you are being reinfected ?
Look at possible causes, has your partner received treatment ? Clothes, bedding or wash products are all things to consider. BTW, in case you did not know there is an oral version of Canastan that may help.
