is this normal?

this is something I have actually struggled with for years and always thought it was normal until recently. I suffer a lot with water retention and could never pinpoint why exactly and now I think it is tied to this issue that I have had since as long as I can remember.

I seem to have trouble fully emptying my bladder. When I go to the bathroom to urinate it is usually really fast. Urine cokes out fast and I don’t pee for long and yet my bladder still feels full afterwards.

Anyways, recently I started trying to empty my bladder fully by doing legal exercises and also tapping on my bladder area. Surprisingly the tapping helps a lot and I could sit at the toilet for 30 mins or more doing this and emptying little bits of urine at a time. I could urinate up to 20+ times a day now if I do the tapping technique although as I said only very small amounts of urine comes out at a time when I do this.

I still urinate for longer durations as well as the small amounts. Is this a sign of chronic urinary retention? Also can chronic urinary retention cause water retention? Also I am 26 years old if that helps.

Could be a problem with your bladder muscle. Only way to find out is to get it checked out. Go see your GP.

You should get checked by your GP who will in all likelihood refer you to a Urologist.
