Concerned for hubby

My husband has been experiencing back pain since April last year, he finally got a MRI 1st week Jan after spending a very painful worrying evening in November in A& E where over 5 hrs a few doctors looking in at him, finally advising they may need to do urgent back surgery as they thought he had a condition known as horses tail. they eventually backed off from that decision when the on call consultant advised imaging first would be advised before admitting for urgent surgery. The appointment to see orthopaedics a few days after scan showed one vertebrae solid white in colour and others with spots of white within them, the spinal consultant want the team at a specialist hospital spinal unit to see the images . This team we were advised by of a call from my hubbys PA, recommended further imaging by way of CT and a PET scans. So hubby now waits for these, after waiting a couple of weeks he called the PA back as she had requested when he discovered there's a massive backlog for a PET scan which could see him waiting 12 weeks , there's also a busy CT system . Any one experienced this ? or knowledge of what my hubby could be looking at, were very concerned hes got something very serious and or life threatening.. The NHS surely wouldn't expect him to wait so long for the 2 scans..

This is a worrying situation for you both I am sure. Is there any mileage in contacting your GP to expedite things? And if his symptoms are getting worse, the definitely do so.

Is going to a private imaging faculty an option? I’m in the US so the cost can be kind of high but it might be worth looking into
