So clopidogrel itself works by inhibiting a receptor on the platelet surface - not by actually lowering the platelet count itself.

However there have been reports of it lowering the platelet count as a side effect : medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

Thanks.....I have been going along with counts ranging from 135,000 to 102,000 since 2018 without any significant impact on my day today life...I have been referred to a hematologist to find out reasons for the low platelet count....By the way,

what are the main functions of Platelets?

Platelets are the little things in your blood which clump together and form a clot to stop bleeding . However if there is hardening of the arteries, they can clump on that and block the blood vessel. Thats what can cause heart attacks and strokes.
