Eosinophilic Fasciitis

My dad, who is in his 60s, was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Fasciitis this past June. Apparently this auto immune disease is rare, and they don't know much about it. The doctors are trying a few different things, but seem to be scratching their heads alot :(

So far the medication they have tried on my dad has not had any real positive affects, Prednisone & and Methotrexate. He is in a pretty constant pain. Like a burning, and Mostly in his legs, but it has slightly moved to his hands now. There are many other terrifying symptoms from this disease as well. (Swelling, hardening of muscles and skin in the arms and legs and tightening and cracking of skin) He has recently gone for blood infusions 3 times now. This leaves him feeling quite sick.

Next possible treatment could be radiation.

Is anyone familiar with this disease and some other possible treatment options? Could this be anything else?

Thank you in advance.

Here is the U.K. info on this rare condition. It appears that treatment/management is guided by the underlying cause.
