Ilioinguinal nerve block for painful testicle

Has anyone here undergone an Ilioinguinal nerve block for a painful testicle.

Did the nerve block stop the pain, if so, for how long?

I've had it done and it lasted me about 3 days. I've done this for patients and it lasts 6 month to a year on average.

I've read an article which say these Ilioinguinal nerve blocks can cure the pain once and for all, they somehow reset the nerve signal behaviour.

It is highly dependent on your body- metabolism, health and many other factors we do not yet understand so it varies greatly from person to person. I had a patient who had been dealing with it for 3 years and lost 60 lbs (27kg) he was 16 when I first saw him and I eventually removed the testicle and that didnt help at all- he ended up with phantom limb pain for a couple years until the pain eventually subsided. His was idiopathic in nature so we dint know what was causing it but my guess is genetics because he, his brother and few other family members had the same issues. Have they told you what may be causing your pain by chance?

Well! It has been 10 days since my ilioinguinal nerve block, and I'm happy to report that its started working, the doc said it can take a few days for the steroids to kick in, and this is obvious what is happening. Its amazing not to have so much pain while walking and sitting, I forgot what is feels like to be normal. I'm going to ring the doctors office to ask about what is the difference between the ilioinguinal nerve block, and the spermatic nerve block.
