Do any of you suffer from this ? my hands are dreadful this year, not with the raynaulds but with cracked skin, its awful awful ....... the skin on my heels has always been bad, but since taking the meds has improved greatly, but my hands are like sandpaper, I have the GP next week so I am going to ask for something for them, as they are bleeding now :(

Yes, yes, yes. Ask 4 Double-Base Gel, it's pretty darn good. There is another autoimmune condition that affects u're skin, causing it 2 harden, creating callouses etc called Scleroderma. Maybe worth looking at.

4 u're hands, try putting a thick moisturiser on u're hands & wearing cotton gloves 2 bed 2 help it sink in. Personally, I found certain moisturisers made it worse & I'd itch the Hell out of them, so it's a case of trial & error. Now I always use moisturiser on my hands now & only suffer very occasionally. Make sure u dry them properly (obvious I know) & wear gloves outside cos the slightest chill used 2 set mine off.

oh oh oh ... my gp ruled out Scleroderma because all I had was the ulcers, and more lupus things, and tbh I never mentioned the cracked skin on my heels, the dry skin on my elbows etc etc so I will mention it next fri and to Rhumie on 16th. I never out two and two together .. just thought i was a scabby scaly lupie .. hahaha .. it might be another string to add to my bow. I do get itchy skin, drives me mad, but Dove Shower Gel deals with that. We did have double base for my husband who has eczema but only on his hands, but i have run out. Epaderm has not really helped this time either. they are icky and tight and painful .......... grrrrrrrrrrrrr RUBBISH ... moan over ... who fancies a Pina Colada :)

Only if we can have it on a sun drenched beach ;0)

Dermy gave me Mometasone Oinment 4 when it gets really bad & it literally clears it up in 2 days 4 me. It's difficult 2 squeeze out of the tube thou, especially when u have shite tendons etc ;0)

I used 2 get really cheesed with my Rheumy as he said thickening of the skin was nothing 2 do with anything & that I just had hard skin, despite me having a bit of a thing about feet, where I regularly buff them so that they r as smooth as a babies arse (it's always been a standing joke that the skin on my feet is softer than the skin anywhere else on my body) & it seemed odd that when I had an attack of lupus, I'd suddenly start getting hard patches of skin on the palms of my hands & soles of my feet, as well as dry elbows, knees, shins etc, even though I've ALWAYS moisturised the whole of my body as soon as I've had a shower/bath & always have done 4 as long as I can remember.

I've been looking at holidays ;0) x

hahah .. ur nuts ! .. i would love me feet to be as smooth as a bay bum, but they are bleeding awful ...... they are hard cracked and sore, they are better now i am on the steroids, even if i go and get them done at the beauty salon. I hate getting them out in the summer, will mention it to the gp. I am having the s******* week ever, so a holiday right now would be marvellous, tell me where have u been looking ......... pm me or email me or skype me or msn me !!! xxxxxxxxxx

You cant beat good old vaseline. Smother your feet with it before putting on your socks. (It`s an old runners trick to keep feet from cracking, blistering and drying) You can do same with hands put on a pair of cotton gloves after smothering and massaging hands. This can be done at night if inconvenient. It works for me.. Best of luckx

hello, ask your gp about DIPROBASE ,i swear by it. it has a slight fragrance and is a little greasy but it works wonders for me. i too have dry cracked heels and it helps ease them if i apply everyday. especially after a bath when skin is soft,i also cream up my feet and then put two pairs of socks on before work! lol

i must look like an egyptian mummy as ive got knee straps on, knee length socks (as i work in cold chillers) and elbow straps!!........lol sexy!!! lol

I have sores on my finger. I spoke to my dermatologist on the phone yesterday and have just picked up some Elocon cream, then to put emollient cream over that, then to put cotton gloves on at night. She also gave me Haelan tape to put on the affected area. I will let u know how it goes.
