It sounds typical of gastric reflux - acid stomach contents sneaking up the gullet overnight and irritating the upper airways. Speak to your doctor - a course of a PPI or H2 antagonist would show if that is likely. They stop acid production. Examples are Pepcid or Prilosec

Hiya, my reply would the same as PMR pro as the same happened to me. To add to it raise your pillow or bed so that stomach acid cannot rise up and irritate whilst you get to docs. 2nd thing is inhalation: 2drops of Olbas oil to 3 drops of lavender into a basin of hot water. Inhale this for 10mins 3x per day. The Olbas opens the airway while the lavender soothes and heals. This remedy is great for anyone with a cough. Good luck. Mozart52

Mystic I hope your improving.Another thought would go to medication you take at night. I take blood pressure pills at night and would have a dry cough all night, they have many different ones to chose from. Ramipril was the worst. I also had a defuser going in my room with lavender or another essential oil and for some reason I inhaling this set me off. Or even something to do with your evening routine like hand cream or face cream your smelling that can be irritating you just enough to have a cough. Try eliminating things then adding them back after a few days if nothing changes. Good luck with all these great solutions in all these comments. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I'm not sure why you take Ramipril, is it for the kidneys, mine was. I know these pills are scary and it's hard to take that next step sometimes. I've tried 5 different ones and in most cases I do good for a few years then get a cough that if left, it starts to become like your coughing up a lung. My last GP would always tell me to go off it for a few days and if it improves, it's the BPP. I'm fortunate though as my kidneys have been about the same the last 20 years so my BP only goes up if my kidneys are really struggling. I'm in no way telling you to try what I have with the BPP as I've always been a rebel when it comes to my meds. I've been doing this for 30 years now, never taking the full amounts of meds because back then, I found I was more of an experiment and my tests were always the same if I took more or less. Now even from that lower dose of my meds over the years for lupus that I took, I'm permanently Neutropenic. I however had fibromyalgia symptoms at the beginning (5yrs) now don't have any symptoms only really the kidneys. So there is hope out there. I wish you well and keep me up dated with what you learn please.🙃
