A little moan about the NHS and positive outcome come on my private consultation with 2 consultants Hip and Back

Ok so I have been having serious issues with my Back and hip both separate issues and the NHS seem to take it as my back as a degenerative issue even after having an MRI done(seen by spinal team )🀷🀦 . My hip was said to be a muscular issue which needed physio. Was seeing 2 different sets of physio even the 1set was going to refer me to a consultant when I was cancelled by spinal team .

Then I was referred back to another physio(no.2) 2years later this physio was so lazy (I mean seriously lazy) she was at her computer out of the X3 appt 2 of 3 of them she sat there not sure what she was typing that she was late for half an hour for my appt . She did not do a full assessment on me just took notes and wanted to see what I could do. That is not an assessment 🀨 only the 3rd appt she did the Faber assessment on my hip. There was no observation of my leg of my leg at all instead she jabbed at my hip at least 5 - 6 times asking me if there was pain there I was already screaming to her yes I am in agony in pain I think anyone else would have swore at her. But I am not that type of person. She was indeed the worst physio I have ever had.

There was historical XRay on my hip as well taken still no one seem to look at it to refer it. Which I find appalling.

Then with my spine issues I was referred to by the 1st Physio team because they felt there was something more going on with my spine. But hey ho , typical woman at the IPASS spinal team assessment unit she was so rude, said straightaway to me on that day that it was fibromyalgia with out even taking any consideration or waiting to see about my MRI results. When the results came back, she instead of making see her f2f she phoned me up to tell me the results about it. That there is nothing they can do for me that it is degenerative. And that I have to live with it. What that it is also fibromyalgia as well. πŸ€·πŸ€¦πŸ˜€πŸ€”I was fuming. I said to her I want a second opinion about this and will go private regarding this . You know what she said oh! You will get the same results when you go private . They will tell you the same thing. I was livid by now.

Now with the Hip issue the 2physio when she discharged me on the 3rd appointment and said she was going to refer me to the hip team. As it was already 5 months and I am already in agony and struggling to walk distances. We said that its about time I went private for both, so got referral letters from GP physio .

Saw Spinal consultant first , he asked me about my history and he said he read my notes as he has excess to my NHS notes , took 1 look at my historical MRI then ask me where my pain was I was able pin point it he said that is exactly where your problem is . I will show you on the MRI , look here he then showed us the displacements/alignment of my spine L5 /S1 . It was sitting off set, We could see it !! So I had another MRI for that and seeing him again this Fri for an update. He was saying first port of call of treatment would be injection but it depends on how severe my misalignment is which is why he wanted another repeat MRI. The other option would be surgery and it is quite major as it will be fusing both lumber to straighten it.

Then my Hip consultant I saw 2 days ago , I am still in so much pain, I said to him I have a long standing hip and back issues , been sent to physio after Physios. He asked me the first thing was did you have a X-ray I said yes . And he looked up and he said to us straight away - you have hip dysplasia with arthritis. And he said want a repeat MRI ,XRay and CT scan And then will see him after all that is done for an update . When he examined me also he noticed something with my leg , it was the first time anyone has ever mention to me , he ask if I have problems with my knee, I said yes , when walking, squatting and bending. He then said to me your leg has a rotation which has effected your knee. Which is why it is pointing in the outer direction. (Physio no.2 kept making me do exercises which was making it worse)

So , he said he is going to have a chat with my spinal consultant to discuss what best way to move forward and best treatment for me. After all the test is done.

Both consultants know each other very well. And both are the best and well renowned for their own surgical expertise.

What bugs me is that are they so incapable of reading MRI and X-rays at the NHS ? Or do they do It just to cover up and tell you lies ?? All very annoying..

My guess is this hip will be quite a major surgery as it will need realignment and having the socket ball back in place and my knee as well. Not going to be a quick job.

Hopefully I will be able to walk without pain on my daughter's wedding in end of July.

I am soooo pleased that you have some answers. πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘ but of course sorry for your problems. I have sat emailing mp today and looking for private neurologist or rheumatologist but I wouldn't know which to see still as per problems. A little moan is very good of you, I would be inclined to moan big and do so regularly to everyone here's annoyance but I know for sure if I get seen properly I will have answers the nhs have failed to give. But I wont get into your question as to why with nhs...... as I will land myself in trouble but distrust is not plucked out of thin air lets just say that. I was in a wheelchair with leg turning blue before given a scan and not X-ray after 2 years of back pain and then an operation following the correct diagnosis.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ years later problems again and sent for physio which in morning led to a a back black of bruising and urgent scan, then told fat eating into muscle and to go swimming and no more physio πŸ€·β€β™€οΈIt shouldn't be we have to go private when we pay for nhs but im so glad you were able to and hopefully now can go forward and receive helpful treatment.πŸ™ I hope things move forward quickly and you now get the help you deserve and that you are soon able to walk pain free at you daughters wedding. so pleased something positive for you after so much frustration, sounds like you are now in good hands πŸ™πŸ™πŸ€—x

Ohh.. I can tell you the NHS has failed me big time so disappointed with them . So ashamed with the staff and how they treat people which it should not have to be that way. It is almost like they have a criteria ( a tick box) with certain patients of whom they have on their list who they need off their list not to be seen and who they think worth seeing -spending money onπŸ€¨πŸ€”πŸ€·..I know a doctor who used to work for the NHS quit her job as a NHS doctor and went Private because of all what was going on with the NHS she did not like it at all. So, how do you think , patients feel.

exactly that , I feel like a cow herded through a tick box of theirs like cattle are and feel like in general in nhs they are just not up to date. How can the same doctors who tell me I do not have myasthenia say also that we dont know enough about it 😑why not send me to someone who does then to rule in or out, and why just discharge me with unifying symptoms, bear minimal tests and a struggling life. Only my own research into possible conditions has opened my eyes to the failures of testing though ive always been too well aware of the neglect .Yes a good old gp of mine left because of the way nhs run. I think its right we should be able to talk of our bad experiences too but often made to feel guilty or that we are talking out of turn when it is just what some of us experience same as some are fortunate to have great experiences. If we dont speak of it ,it will never be rectified, and just as scandals that are in news on large scale these cases with individuals are still important. I am so pleased for you getting help now but so sorry you were failed and and im sure I will have to go your route now to find my answers πŸ™but it should not be so πŸ€—

A lot of scans and xrays not being read correctly. When a Consultant can read them and really understand what is going on makes such a difference. Good luck.
