Strange finger?: Hi im hoping someone can help. I... - LUPUS UK
Strange finger?
Twitchytoes posted/replied about something like this a few days ago. Achenbach's syndrome was the conclusion she/I came to - but I can only find a post from her about it on another forum and it is hidden.
Thanks maybe I can get a link or Google it. x
Just travelling so can’t write or answer as I get car sick. Yes get this - not same as bruise I mentioned Achenbachs or whatever - think this was ruptured blood vessel. If yours is very painful to bend then it could be more like the inflammatory arthritis I had when previously misdiagnosed with RA. RA mainly affects middle (pip) joints and knuckles looks like bruising but also hot to touch and can’t move. I don’t even have psoriasis but have wondered about PsA too. If you do then PsA and RA both can occur with psoriasis. Or it could be same as mine a week ago which relieved after a day or less and was just tingly and sore but not swollen and very painful ie more like a fracture. Hard to tell from photo.

Thanks for the reply. It is just like a bruise. It's not as stuff now but still swollen. It doesn't hurt either. Thanks though.
Oh well in that case read my post from a week ago I’ve linked you to above for pics and discussion about then as could well be the same. 😊
I read your post and think it is most probably the most likely cause. It is already starting to disappear this morning just some bruising and a bit of swelling left. Thanks for your help though.
I have wondered whether I have psoriatic arthritis, but I don't get the sausage digits so nobody has really taken it seriously. All of my nails are effected and have lifted off their beds.
Luckily I have a rheumatology appointment on the 3rd so hopefully she will enlighten me a bit more
I have RA and have had sausage fingers often. The very solid ones are worst, I usually get a steroid jab down between the fingers into the palm of my hand.
That sounds so painful 😢
Hi - I get the exact same thing in my fingers. The bruise at the joint just comes up even though I haven’t hurt it. It’s very purple and painful for 24 hours then starts to go down - I put a cold compress on it which helps.
I mentioned it to my Lupus consultant and she wasn’t too concerned.
It has happened several times but for me not too regularly.
I have RA & that happens in my hands a lot....I just ignore it & it goes away...my Rheumatologist assures me it is nothing to worry about.
But if it really worries you, I would ask one of your medical team next time you see them what they think .
I had that happen to my middle toe. It would swell up almost twice its normal size. It would hurt and itch like crazy for about a week or two. This happened three or four times over the last five years. My rheumatologist thought maybe gout but I tested negative . He never did figure it out 😒
Hi - can’t help with your finger and it looks like you have enuf good replies anyway. BUT can I suggest that if you haven’t tried it already FLEXITOL for hands is brilliant !
Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried so many thing for my hands. I get these really small blisters deep down in my skin that lol and then the skin above them peels. They are a pain especially if they split. I will give flexible a go. Cheers.
Hello, this happens to me on occasion; I have a sudden shooting pain and it’s looks like a blood vessel is trapped between the joints. I try to release it by rubbing and it then leaves a bruise exactly like Your photo. Very tender for a couple of days. I told my Rhemy about it and he just shrugged and said take photo next time. Of course it hasn’t happened again since 🙄
It helps me to read that so many have had swollen painful middle fingers as when , about 6 or more weeks ago I woke up to have pretty excruciating pain and a finger so swollen I could not bend it at all. I felt it unlikely that anybody had heard of such a thing. It remained thus for over a month but slowly has improved somewhat. I do hand exercises as possible . A puzzle to me as the bone itself seemed source of pain.
