π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£ Hi All;
I went back to the dermatologist yesterday with this blister. They open it and drained it. (Go to my profile page to see before photo). Now that it is on open left over blister, I have to soke it twice a day in Domeboro soothing soak, and then put a topical antibiotic cream Mupironci 2% cream on it until it completely heals. I do have to go back to the dermatologist this morning for a recheck.
The culprit appears to be, on Thursday of week before last (12 days ago) I had to take my mother to the emergency room. She had fallen and broken her foot. I wore leather flip flop sandals to the hospital emergency room. And the sandals apparently rubbed on the skin and caused it to get irritated, and so began the blister and it just kept growing on the already irritated skin from the rash.
My dermatologist restated no shoes are to be worn. I then proceeded to tell her that the hospital required some sort of foot wear. She then done an official health letter stating I am not to wear shoes under no circumstances now. She put her office phone number and her personal phone number on this letter and told me that if anyone said I had to wear shoes to show them the letter. It states that if I wear shoes it can cause severe problems for me and that the risk of me getting an infection is far more greater for me if I wear shoes, and that I am to go barefoot at all times with no exceptions! She also stated in her letter that if they had an issue with me being barefoot to call her if they had any questions.
I have had to go barefoot for 2 years it looks like it could turn out to be a permanent way of life. I look at the bright side, going barefoot I never will have to worry about what shoes I should wear (I am a guy and to us guys it doesn't matter anyway) but, I don't have to worry about if the shoes match what I am wearing Barefeet matches and goes with everything! LOL!

Tiras, you are such a tonic and an inspiration especially the way I feel today, your attitude towards this disease helps us all, it keeps us motivated.
You have a great Doctor, well done her.
Hope your mother is resting and take care of her they are so very special.
Thank you! I if I can make anyone feel just a little better then for me I feel successful. We should be here to help and inspire people. And if I can bring a smile to some ones face, I have done my job. I have things that happen and things come up (like lupus blisters) but, I have come to realize life goes on. Life does not come to a stop just because I have an issue, there are things and tasks that must be done, and things I want to do. So I Carry on with my life. There are days I can't move, so I fight throug those days the best way I can.
Mom is doing well considering, she is getting around slowly. I joke with her and tell her she moves as slow as grandmaw.
Actually my whole team of doctors are great! They communicate with me and they communicate with each episode other about me. I have no complaints about my medical team.
True story, I went to one doctor a couple of months ago, I did wear some leather flip flop sandals just long enough to go in to the doctor. As soon as he came in the exam room he ask me why I had Shoes on? He said did Doctor Haynes tell you not to wear shoes, or anything that can rub and cause irritation? So yes, I knew then that they communicate.
I replied back yes she did. So I carried the flip flop out in my hand.
I then told him it irritates me to have to pay him so I wouldn't get irritated by paying him! LOL! Yep, the doc got a laugh out of that and said let me rephrase that, anything that can irritate the skin on your foot. Oh well, I tried!
I hope you have a good day and get to feeling better!
It's not just one doctor, it is my whole medical team that is this way. They communicate with me and each other about me.
Thanks for sending the healing vibes my way! Let's send them on to all of our other friends!
Yesterday I was at a variety store 2 of the girls that worked there came up to me and started talking about me being barefoot. I explaind and showed them my foot and that it was a medical issue. she then said I want a letter like that from my doctor because, I hate wearing shoes. She said that she only wore them when absolutely necessary. Actually here in the south U.S. Seeing people barefoot is not an uncommon thing. I'm glad I'm glad I live in this area!
Yes absolutely healing vibes to all our friends on hereππΌ for sure.
That is so good to hear that the whole of your medical team is in tune with each other it's so important. I've had such an awful rheumatologist I've been upset and shocked and have let him know too by writing to him and asking for answers which he avoided on some issues and others he's just repeated himself, he's offered to do the blood tests that I've asked so I guess its an admission to the fact he had lied to me and missed out tests! In the mean time I'm waiting for a second opinion but nothing works fast here in the NHS and I've got to wait until October at the very least! So where I thought I was almost at a 'lightbulb moment' (as Coco puts it ) back in May it appears not!
It turns out I know more about connective tissue disease than this rheumatologist that I was seeing!!
It's a good thing that you live in a warm climate. π
