Hip pain - thigh bone out of socket.

When in flare I wake every morning like the Tin Man. Yesterday my right hip didnt stop hurting or loosen up through the day. This morning I had to get up quickly and help my son who was having a sudden and bad nose bleed, and my right hip clicked loudly. I was glad at first as I thought it may have gone back into place. But alas its gone further out. Right hip is inflamed, unhappy to bare weight and clicks like a ratchet screw driver as I move my leg (plus pain). Am on warfarin for APS so no NSAIDS but have used ibuleve gel topically to try and take swelling down so it may reallign. Any tips please? It hurts!

Hi Bonnie

Have you had your hip X-rayed ?. Sounds like you might have Osteo- arthritis in it as it comes out of place. My Mum has similar problem with hers and has Osteo arthritis. You should see an Orthapaedic Consultant. What does your GP say?. Hope he can also give you better help for the pain?. X

Ive had similar stuff with my lower back L5s1 degenerative disc stuff...over use from long time ago etc...The pain I get is kinda in my left hip...I had to go to physio, and take anti inflammatories.....and the heating pad was my best friend! Im real careful to this day, can only walk, swim, or ride bike for exercise....(Swimming really helps actually)...When you are in not as much pain, there is a stretch you do before you get out of bed...knees to chest..then bring right knee over to your left shoulder and down, then do the other side.......See if you can get a heating pad...its a blessing.

Third time lucky! Have written replies that have vanished twice now.

Thanks for your replies. I am away from home so unable to see any of my doctors unfortunately.

My joints have "popped out" since I was a teen. Usually they go back in after a few hours and are not so painful.

I went swimming last night to one of those sub-tropical pools. The warmth of the water helped but walking through the shallows didn't! Once home I plan to relax in a nice warm bath and will try using heat/cool packs.

Before I came away I had a bad UTI and had strong antibiotics for ten days. However, I am still testibg +ve for ketones. Now am also getting non haemotised blood, some protein and ? Bilorubin. I am wondering if the root cause for joint pain etc is my kidneys playibg up or if all is likely to be a lupus flare.

I am dx APS but awaiting an official sle dx, even though I have 8/11 sympotms including +ve ANA bloodwork.
