Since May I have had constant lupus flares, nothing serious, joint pains, fever, fatigue all the usual. Now for over a week i have had pain in what I think is muscle above my knee towards top of leg. I don't know if I should be concerned as I had a knee replacement 10 years ago and being having knee pain since flare started. Has anyone any suggestions of what to do?

Hi I recently pulled my shoulder.i used paraceramol ( I take pregabalin so that's I can have) heatpack, rest and Ibuprofen gel.took a couple of weeks to ease but now it's ok.if it was me I'd try the same maybe with a compression bandage of some sort but if you are concerned or it gets worse contact your gp even if it's just for reassurance.hope it gets better soon xx

I get horrendous thigh pain. It's at the front of my thighs and feels like they are going to split open.

I find that I get it when I have over excerted the muscle.

I rub biofreeze into them, I take and anti inflammatory if I can and I lay cool gel packs over them. I have big ones from Amazon. I keep them in the fridge all day and use them at night as the pain keeps me awake...

I hope that helps

I have been having a flare for a few months. It has been the most aggressive one since I was diagnosed 4 years ago. It appears to be settling down now but I had to curtail my activity. Part of my issues are cramps and bone pain in my legs. I find that if I have over exerted, then the issues get worse. The cramping seems to be tied to lack of hydration and stretching. I make sure that I keep my electrolytes up with drops that I add to the water.

One of the underlying causes is the stenosis in my lower back. Most of the major muscles in the legs tie into the lower back and there are all sorts of nerve packages there as well. If this area gets inflamed it can cause muscle and nerve pain and cramps.

Hi

Thank you everyone I do have nerve irritation in my lower back, which causes me a lot of pain, but I don't think that is the cause. However, I woke up today with both knee & thigh swollen., but not hot. For the last few days I have been using Deep Freeze spray, yesterday & today I have been very good not doing any gardening and instead I rested my leg. When I 1st had my knee done I did have thigh pain, but in time it settled down, so just hoping that the same happens again.
