Hi Heights69. I saw your post and thought to myself i am not alone! I too get slurred speechwhen i have flare ups or extremely tired. Its becoming embarrassing now if someone does not know me i start stuttering then slurring like i am punch drunk! :-( i have to explain to strangers that its part of an illness i have. I am not sure if its part of the illness or not! I am also on pred but not a high dose as you! I get extremely upset when my speech goes. What do you do when you get like that? Have you spoken to your dr and Rheumatologist?

I've never had slurred speech, but mothers speech, she had RA, would often become slurred towards the end of the day.So I don't think it is just people with Lupus who get slurred speech.

Hi - I also get slurred speech, does anyone else get facial droop with it?? I didn't realise so many people with Lupus suffered with this?! I would be interested to see if any of you have mention this to your rheumatologist's and what they said about it and if they said it was related to the lupus?? Jo

Thank you - I would appreciate that. I'm just going through a period of wondering if this is part of lupus/lupus related. My next rheumatologist app isn't till November.

l was diagnosed with Lupus since I was 18 and I'm 55 years old. After all these years I never had problems until the last 2 years. I feel like when I try to talk I can't think straight. I stammer and I sometimes have to say never mind. Does anyone know if there is a treatment for speech?
