Hello Angelo2010 many people feel hungry because they are over fed and under nourished so their bodies are craving nutrients. Because of your type 1 diabetes I'd consult your Dr and get referred to a dietician for advice that works for you and your needs.
And welcome to our friendly forum you are in great company for all things healthy eating and I wish you well with your need to lose weight.
Hi, good luck with your journey of weight loss. I have swapped chocolate for nuts. I know it's not a low cal swap but I find them much more satisfying and they curb my hunger. They are more expensive so you naturally eat less of them! I buy big bags of pistachios and almonds mostly and decant into smaller containers. Unfortunately not much weight loss for me but feel much healthier.
How much water do you drink? Dehydration can mimic hunger sometimes, so making sure you drink enough water is probably the first step to take.
I've been busy at work recently, and keep forgetting to drink enough water. I go to bed feeling a little thirsty, but wake in the middle of the night feeling like I'm too hungry to sleep. The "hunger" would ease when I drank water. I noticed it happened on the days I only had maybe 1L of water, and didn't happen when I made sure I had my 2L. I can recognise it's not hunger, but if I didn't know any better, I'd be getting up and going to the fridge for a snack.
If you don't like the taste of water, try adding some mint sprigs and lemon/lime wedges to make it taste a little nicer.
hi I hope the hungry phase passes soon. Don't think too much. If you are hungry then first like someone said - drink water and then food. I too sometimes eat like mad - what has helped me changing my diet to low GI foods - I read the book by Rick Gallop - Its been 3 months but I am slowly removing high GI foods from my diet. So now BEFORE I put something in my mouth I think - is it low GI food? - plus I keep low GI Foods - like apples, cottage cheese, etc. to binge on. Good luck. Enjoy the journey to becoming thin ... We all are in the same boat ...
