im a ranty, long post, forever editing post to add more content as i think of it type of person
If you see what ive posting on another thread as i talk to that user on the a different section of healthunlock then you will get the jist of the type of person i am
Im a firm believer in good mental and physical health = good food diet + good exercise routine
I dont follow fads or the crowd i will eat what i want when i want on the basis of if i like it and the price is right reglardless of how much surgar is in it or how much fat it puts on me both which can be adjusted as my body/mind will tell me what she needs
im not a easily influenced type of person and try to spread positive vibes in evey direction
So i look forward to having good postive fiery debates with people on this topic
I believe health eating is a combination of balanced food so if you eat 3 unhealthy food you should eat 3 healthy food to keep your body/mind mentally in balance, im also a believer in the universe and mother nature so like to eat home grown food as i only have a small patio garden i have a much loved blueberry bush (so i call myself a plant mummy as i csnt have furry friends in my flat but i do mainly a doggy person) while i have for a little over a year as i love blueberries and i have tried to grow gherkins and other food in pots in the past unsuccessfully so i do occasionally visit my local garden centre and farm to get specific soil ect (where i got my blueberry and blackcurrant plants from picture attached) i am also a support of small business enterprises and encourage and talk to my plants on a daily basis

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. I hope you'll enjoy participating here. I think it's great that you're growing your own Blueberry and Blackcurrant plants. I wish you a great crop when the time comes!
When i was looking up the growth of a blueberry bush i read reports that said it can take 10 years and when i brought it my friend took the Mickey out me and joked about how i made a silly investment but last year my bush tried 4 times to produce fruit it produced the flowers and cups but couldnt go further in its first year and i found it fascinating to watch and when i brought it indoor out of fear of snow even though its a frost hard plant because my living room is essentially a greenhouse and i keep it at the right temperature i tricked the blueberry bush into coming out of winter dormant mode and into growth i then stupidly put it outside and the leaves are now falling off as its too cold and i feel really bad for my poor plant but i want to get another one so they pollinate each other and give it a friend as i have never seen the complete growth cycle of the blackcurrant bush as ive only had it a few months and i dont know what type of blackcurrant it is as it didnt say when i brought it from the farm
Hi bexx87, thanks for introducing yourself and welcome to our forum, you're in great company to meet others into healthy eating on here, so I hope that you enjoy being a member,
I think its great you growing blackcurrants and blueberries too.
Thank you If i could afford it i would buy a alloment and grow a selection of fruit and live on it i have to be careful when going into garden centres bc i would buy the whole place out i love growing food hence why i have a load of pots and 2 collapsable mini greenhouses as i grew cheap flowers with cheap soil for the bees and butterflies which was lovely to watch them come and investigate but my bushs have the expensive proper soil from garden centre but the gherkins i grew in cheap soil as they were packet ones but got invested so i was disappointed when they died and i have tried growing packet peppers and chillies ad well as the gherkins
Hey we learn by what works and our mistakes its a constant learning curve, I love growing plants as well as its lovely watching them grow so it doesn't matter how long your blueberry bush takes to mature and I don't blame you taking it inside to protect it from the snow and frost.
I love nature and nature programs to having you seen this group:
Thanks i work for my local council which is why i know a lot of stuff and in the office we are forever have debates on various topics so i learn alot of stuff from work and seeing how other people respond
I am happy to read about your frustrations and successes in growing healthy food, my husband grows runner beans but feels a need to be kind to slugs and snails. Last year his second batch of young plants were reduced to leafless sticks over the first night. One snail was so energised it had climbed to the top of the bean pole. With deterrent gravel we finally got a modest crop of beans.
