Among few things that everyone seems to agree on is that fish is good for you.

There are many varieties of fish which are commonly eaten, these include salmon,trout,haddock,cod, sardines and many others. In India commonly eaten fresh water fishes are rohu, katla, mangur and hilsa etc.

Fish is rich in high quality lean protein, which is building blocks for muscles, enzymes,hormones and vitamins. Adult women need 5 to 5 1/2ounces and men need 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 ounces of protein food daily depending on age. Three ounces is typical serving of fish with protein amount varying with different variety of fish. The highest protein fish is Tuna at a total of 26 gms per 3 ounce serving.

Fish is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acid. Omega 3 is essential for brain,heart and various parts of body. Omega3 fatty acids appear to be specially important for mental health. It is beneficial in depression. Omega3 decreases triglyceride levels, slow the growth of plaque in arteries and slightly lower blood pressure . So helps in prevention of cardio vascular disease . American Heart Association recommends that you consume 3.5 ounce serving.

Fish and sea food have the advantage of being low in calorie and rich in protein with little or no saturated fat. Fish is also high in iron and Vit B vitamins,

Fish also helps in weight loss. International journal of obesity found that eating 3 five ounce serving of salmon per week for 4 weeks as a part of low calorie diet resulted I approximately 2.2 lbs more weight loss than the diet which did not include fish.

Due to pollution of oceans some fish may contain contaminants, but their health benefits still far outweigh any potential risk.

Not for the fish.

Few species are not endangered due to overfishing & pollutants. Farmed fish, like most farmed animals are pumped with growth hormones & anti-biotics. People have been warned not to eat fish caught from man coastal waters around The UK due to toxicity from pollutants such as mercury, dioxins, PCBs, etc.

Really fish is good food for our body health. Try to eat good healthy and fresh fish in your daily life. I always prefer the fresh fish. Pond water fish is so tasty. I love to catch fish in my village pond. Thanks for your nice post.
