Very happy with my new eating regime πŸ™‚

So following my heart attack and 3 stents on 27th Feb 23 I have now achieved my ideal weight putting me in the middle of the healthy category.

I have lost over 17 kg

Down from 13 stone 7 to 10 stone 10

and a BMI of 22.8.

I have also got my Blood glucose stable and back in the normal range, and Insulin sensitivity appears to be behaving normally.

It is now a matter of maintenance!

Having said that, I'm actually enjoying the eating regime.

I'm eating a lot more plant based foods and a lot of Chicken & Fish with the Occasional portion of red meat.

No Processed or Ultra processed foods!

Today's menu: πŸ™‚πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Breakfast.

Chia seed pudding with Walnut pieces and pomegranate seeds.

Lunch:

Red lentil and mixed bean chili soup topped with poached egg.

(Egg added after picture).

Dinner:

Thai inspired Salmon fillet and Garlic, Chilli & Coriander marinated King prawns with an Avacado and Tomato Salsa.

Desert:

Fresh raspberries and Greek yoghurt.

Snack:

85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate (25g)

Shows that it's relatively easy once you get used to the cooking from scratch and not just opening packets and can be quite enjoyable.

I have always enjoyed cooking ... unfortunately I also used to bake a lot 😐Not anymore

Wheat and other grain based foods are as unhealthy if not more unhealthy as those containing added sugar.

Hi I57

Congrats on ur weight loss & congrats on coming through it all.

A request if I may.

Are the meals U made ur own design or from a book or website ??

Much appreciated as I'm trying to shift some weight even if my shape doesn't as it will all help my diabetes

Hi, They are a mixture of online and my own ideas , except for the red lentil soup which came from the BBC good food website.

But to be honest , the thing that brought my weight down and reversed my high glucose levels was cutting out sugar, very low carb intake and intermittent fasting.

Good luck

I've reduced my sugar lots, I only have sweetener in me coffee. I'm also reducing my carb intake too . So I'm on the right track & I've even reduced my portion sizes. Not tried the intermittent fasting my biggest thing is exercise & lack of it as I have issues walking & constantly pain with it too. Thank you very much for the info, bbc good food is my usual go to for recipes.

Keep up ur work as its paying dividends for U.

That's quite sudden weight loss

Weightloss should be very gradual

I don't call 6 months sudden ..And I guess your not familiar with intermittent fasting.

And just to add :

3 stone over 6 months is 1.75lb / Week

A perfectly healthy rate to loose weight

OK but why not add organic oats and organic tofu to your meals

Maybe overnight oats ?

Oats are one of the few foods thst have been proven to aid heart health

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57 in reply to Lizzo30

I do use oats and sometimes overnight, I don't use too often as I'm keeping an eye on carbohydrates..And even though oats have a fairly low Glycemic index they still raise blood glucose levels fairly quickly...

Oh and don't like tofu.

Tofu is good for the heart

As are other foods !

There are plenty of healthy choices without me needing to include something I do not like 😁

It's so bland how can you take such a dislike to it - is it the texture ?
